Shatta Wale has promised me a free verse – Ren Mich

Ghanaian musician Ren Mich is excited to have the Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale collaborate with him on one of his songs soon, after successfully gaining the Gringo hitmaker’s attention online.

According to Ren Mich, he gained Shatta Wale’s attention by consistently tagging him in every post in the last four years. Consequently, the musician has promised him a free verse for a song after noticing his work online.

Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz about his music career, Ren Mich said he has always admired Shatta Wale and credits him for playing a significant role in his journey in the music industry.

“I used to tag him in every post I made. I was shocked when Shatta Wale eventually reposted one of my videos and promised me a free verse for a collaboration.”

He also revealed that Shatta Wale contributed to the music video for his soon-to-be-released song.

He noted that growing up, he listened to musicians like Sarkodie and Shatta Wale during the period he was known as Bandana.

The artist further shared that he has released four EPs so far, with his latest EP released on March 5.

Shatta Wale speaks on his Lamborghini controversy and its impact on his brand
Shatta Wale says the controversy surrounding his Lamborghini, which involves the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), regarding investigations into a Lamborghini linked to former National Signals Bureau Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has caused significant damage to his reputation and brand.

Shatta Wale was arrested at his residence in Accra on 20 August 2025 by Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over his Lamborghini Urus, which authorities alleged was linked to a $4 million U.S. fraud case.

Speaking in an interview on Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, 11 March, the Gringo hits maker noted that the controversy has taken a heavy toll on his brand, causing him to lose several deals both locally and internationally.

“…because they have really tarnished my image in Ghana and even abroad,” he stated.

He continued that, for the damage caused to him, there is a need for the anti-crime agency to formally apologise to his brand, citing that the damage could have been avoided if the matter had been handled privately.

“I want to boldly say that the EOCO boss needs to apologise to my brand, not me, Shatta Wale, The best thing they could have said was, ‘Shatta, come and take your car,’ but to hear another story that the car is proceeds of crime, I was like, ‘where is this coming from?’ At a point, I felt like I was not safe in this country.”

He recounted how EOCO officials raided his house, claiming to verify that some vehicles belonging to Mr Adu-Boahene were in his possession, but he insisted the only car found at his house was his Lamborghini.

Shatta Wale maintained that he has no dealings with the former state official and questioned why the issue was not handled privately. He said the situation has created the impression that he knowingly purchased a stolen vehicle, which he described as unfair.

    EOCO and Shatta Wale

The EOCO in June seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus used by Shatta Wale after its Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) conducted a lawful search of a home at Trassaco Valley Phase 1 in Accra.

The search, said to be “professional and civil,” was conducted on a 2023 request from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the United States Justice Department.

EOCO clarified that “it is a standard safety protocol practice for officers of the Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) to carry weapons whilst on operation for the safety of officers.”

According to the EOCO, the FBI and the Justice Department have tied the seized vehicle to the proceeds of the criminal enterprise of one Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently serving an 86 month sentence for several financial crimes in the United States of America (USA).

It is reported that Nii Armah pleaded with officers that he did not want the seizure to be made public because “the vehicle was a big part of his brand, and if his supporters saw the vehicle being driven away in the company of EOCO, it would destroy his brand.”

In light of this, Nii Armah was allowed to surrender the vehicle himself, which is currently in the possession of the Economic and Organized Crime Office.

Shatta Wale demands apology from EOCO boss over Lamborghini controversy

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, is demanding an apology from the Executive Director of Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, citing reputational and brand damage regarding investigations into a Lamborghini linked to former National Signals Bureau Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene.

He made these remarks during an appearance on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Wednesday, 11 March, stating that the controversy took a toll on his brand both internationally and locally, leading to his loss of some major deals and gigs.

“I want to boldly say that the EOCO boss needs to apologise to my brand, not me, Shatta Wale, because they have really tarnished my image in Ghana and even abroad,” he stated.

He believes the case could have been handled differently and even better if the EOCO boss had dealt with him privately and not made the case public.

Referring to how an Elantra that was gifted to him by the embattled MenzGold boss, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM 1), around 2017-2018 was taken from him by authorities after the former was implicated in some fraud cases.

“The best thing they could have said was, ‘Shatta, come and take your car,’ but to hear another story that the car is proceeds of crime, I was like, ‘where is this coming from?’ At a point, I felt like I was not safe in this country.”

Shatta Wale was arrested at his residence in Accra on 20 August 2025 by Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over his Lamborghini Urus, which authorities alleged was linked to a $4 million U.S. fraud case.

Shatta Wale maintained that he has no dealings with the former state official and questioned why the issue was not handled privately. He said the situation has created the impression that he knowingly purchased a stolen vehicle, which he described as unfair.

He also expressed fears over his safety in the country after EOCO gave him about 3 different reasons behind his arrest and seizure of his Lambo. According to him, when EOCO first raided his house, the reason was as a result of his involvement with Adu Boahene; however, later he was told to change his story from one criminal being prosecuted by US authorities, when he thought he could leave with his Urus, he was informed the car was a proceeds of crime and that somebody had been shot in the said car.

Meanwhile, EOCO revealed that Shatta Wale did not have any documentation that shows that he owns or purchased a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a car which was identified by the FBI and the US Justice Department as proceeds of a $4 million crime.

The documentation being referenced is in terms of receipt or transfer documents.

According to EOCO, he rather has a customs declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail.

The singer was also unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the car in question.

He is reported to have said he purchased it from the “Street” and from someone possibly called “ZAK” who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.

Shatta Wale’s EOCO interrogation delayed by scheduling issues

According to EOCO in a press statement issued on August 21, an invitation was issued to Charles Nii Armah Mensah to report on August 13.

This was, however, rescheduled for August 20, 2025 at 10am.

“Counsel for Charles Nii Armah Mensah, indicated to EOCO officers that they would prefer to report at 11am. EOCO readjusted its schedule to align with their time. Shortly before 11am, Counsel for Nii Armah called EOCO to claim that his client was not available and that he was also busy,” a part of the statement noted.

EOCO indicated to the singer’s Counsel that he and his client were expected to report as scheduled.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah arrived in the Office around 3pm and, according to EOCO, insisted that he was not going to cooperate until his counsel arrived, a right which he is entitled and was accorded him.

“EOCO investigators and Charles Nii Armah Mensah waited from 11am till 5pm before his Counsel showed up. Incidentally, EOCO’s closing time is 5pm. Nevertheless, EOCO staff and the entire operational team chose to carry on with the interrogation, which ended around 9pm. Officers eventually left the Office around 11pm,” the statement further revealed.

Shortly after interrogation ended, Shatta Wale was on Wednesday night granted bail of GHC10,000,000 with two sureties to be justified.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah would only leave EOCO’s custody after it undertakes surety inspection, which is a standard protocol.

  • Kwesi Authur should look for me, I can help him navigate dispute with former label – Shatta Wale

Kwesi Authur should look for me, I can help him navigate dispute with former label – Shatta Wale

Dancehall musician Shatta Wale, has asked his colleague, Kwesi Authur to reach out to him for a sit-down discussion aimed at finding practical ways to help him navigate the dispute with his former label,  ‘Ground Up Chale.’

“In the court of law, you cannot take ‘cry’ and ‘people want to kill me’ there. It won’t work, because you already signed. It’s two solutions now: it’s either he looks for me and we sit down so I give him some experienced tactics we can use to make this music business work for him, or we quickly try to find a solution for him.”

Beyond Shatta Wale’s advice, he is also encouraging Ghanaians to contribute towards supporting the musician to handle current chnalleges.

“The way everybody cares about Kwesi Arthur, we may have to contribute and pay that debt for him,” Shatta Wale said.

    Background

Kwesi Arthur had accused music executive Glen Boateng and members of the Ground Up team of intimidation, financial demands and attempts to block his independent releases.

He made this statement in a social media post that sparked reactions across the industry.
According to him, he is being asked to pay $150,000 to use images of himself for a new project and has suggested that his safety could be at risk amid the ongoing dispute.

However, Ground Up’s legal representative, Jonathan Amable, has rejected claims that the company had stopped the rapper from using his own images.

He said the restriction only applies to specific footage produced by ‘Ground Up’ during their working relationship.

Veteran music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, popularly known as Fredyma, and Highlife musician Ofori Amponsah have settled their age-old dispute over how the latter first met the late Daddy Lumba.

Fredyma took to Facebook on November 5 to announce that he had finally smoked the peace pipe with Ofori Amponsah during an appearance on Joy Prime TV, where Andy Dosty was the host.

“This evening on Joy Prime TV hosted by the venerable Andy Dosty, Ofori Amponsah and I settled the seemingly conflict about who introduced him to the late Daddy Lumba.”

“We both agreed that I did his demo songs, which ushered him to be accepted and to be part of Daddy Lumba’s music kingdom and his subsequent success in the music industry,” Fredyma stated.”

The veteran music producer further clarifed; “Apparently, Ofori Amponsah had visited Lumba’s house and made him listen to the demo I did and signed agreements without my knowledge before inviting me to accompany him later to officially present his demo. This was where the whole confusion erupted.”

Fredyma added that, he knew the late Daddy Lumba for over four decades, but never indulged Ofori Amponsah and his dealings with the late legend.

“I didn’t ever partake in any of his music dealings through the signing of agreements with the late Daddy Lumba,” he wrote.

However, in June 1993, he took Ofori for an audition at the National Museums and Monuments Board, a move that eventually opened the door for him to perform at the National Theatre.

“I took Ofori Amponsah for an audition at the National Museums and Monuments Board in June 1993 for onward performance at the National Theatre,” he recounted.

According to Fredyma, Ofori Amponsah gained fame at the mainstream with Daddy Lumba after recording two albums in his studio.

But one of the albums, a Highlife project recorded with Dada Ahuofe in 1995, was never released.

A Gospel album recorded in 1996 came out before Ofori’s 1999 hit collaboration “Odo Mmra Fie” with Lumba.

The veteran producer said he had not worked with Ofori Amponsah since 1997 but remains grateful that the long-standing misunderstanding has finally been resolved.

“Officially, this has been Ofori Amponsah’s moment and journey in my life. I have never worked on any music project with him since 1997 to date. I am grateful that this uncalled-for impasse has been laid to rest. Thanks for your understanding. No malice intended. We move. Daddy Lumba koraa, wa wu so why the fuss?” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba, notably refused to acknowledge or interact with his mentee and fellow musician, Ofori Amponsah, on stage during his birthday, despite Ofori performing and being present throughout the night.

This was prior to an incident where Daddy Lumba had demanded the removal of Ofori Amponsah from the lineup of artists scheduled to perform at his concert on Valentine’s Day, dubbed “Valentine With Daddy Lumba.”

Diving into the details behind the drop, Executive Director of Event Factory Ghana Limited, Nabil Alhassan, who is directly involved in organizing major entertainment events in Ghana, during an appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz on Saturday, October 5, named Lumba as one of the most difficult artistes he has ever worked with, highlighting how after artistes scheduled to perform at Lumba’s Valentine’s Day Concert had been finalized, he received a call from Serwaa Amihere, which was a conference call including Daddy Lumba.

He said Lumba insisted that Ofori Amponsah be taken off the show or he wouldn’t perform.

“We made our first payment, and publicity started. One day, I saw Serwaa Amihere calling me. She said Daddy was on the line and wanted to speak to me about something going on. He said, ‘Nabil, how are you? I want you to take Ofori off the show,’” he said.

After probing why he wanted Ofori off the show, Nabil disclosed that Lumba informed him about how rumours suggested his former mentee had bad-mouthed him.

Nabil further detailed that after constantly questioning the late musician for the reason behind his request, Daddy Lumba claimed Ofori Amponsah’s name was not included in the initial list of performers.

“Guess what, Ofori has been on his show at the birthday party, so I thought everything was cool… I asked him, ‘Daddy, what is happening?’ He was like, the last time we spoke to him, we didn’t include that Ofori Amponsah was part of the artistes performing.

Serwaa then informed him that we mentioned Ofori’s name. After that, he said someone had called him to inform him that Ofori was part of the people who once insulted him, so we should remove Ofori’s name from the list.”

Nabil also shared how the late Daddy Lumba finally gave in after apologies were made.

“Lumba can refund your money at any time. When he comes to your show, he has your money in his hands. Any small mistake, he would leave… So I was hanging… We spoke to him, and he said either Ofori will perform before he comes or after,” he added.

The news of Daddy Lumba’s passing hit the world in the early hours of Saturday. Initially, when news of his passing emerged, a journalist of Hitz FM, Andy Dosty, came to deny it, noting that Daddy Lumba was alive. However, barely three hours later, Daddy Lumba (DL) FM released an official statement signed by the legend’s lawyer, confirming his demise.

A statement by the counsel for the Fosu family later confirmed that the music veteran passed on July 26, after a short illness.

He succumbed to the illness at the Bank Hospital in Accra, per reports.

The statement reads: “With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana’s beloved musical icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.”

Daddy Lumba was born 60 years ago to Mr. Johnson Kwadwo Fosuh and Madam Comfort Gyamfi, also known as Ama Saah, in Nsuta, near Mampong in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Both of his parents were teachers, and he was the second of three siblings.

His educational journey began in Nsuta Kyebi, and he completed junior high school at Suame Methodist, Kumasi in 1979. Subsequently, he attended Adu Gyamfi Senior High School in Jamasi, but later transferred to Juaben Senior High School, where he completed his secondary education in 1984.

Daddy Lumba’s music career took off in the early 80s when he formed the Nkwanta Wesley Singers, gaining fame at the Anokye Krom Cultural Center.

During his time at Juaben Senior High School, he led the school choir and composed the song “Lumba Lumba,” dedicated to the freedom fighters in South Africa. This song’s popularity earned him the nickname “Daddy Lumba,” which later became his stage name. He also formed the Lumba Brothers band during his school days, which included his girlfriend at the time, Theresa.

After completing school, Daddy Lumba, with the help of his high school sweetheart Theresa Abebrese, traveled to Germany. There, he met Ernest Nana Acheampong, and they formed another Lumba Brothers group, recording their debut album, “Yee Ye Aka Akwantuom,” in 1986. Financial constraints delayed the album’s release until 1989, and eventually, the duo split.

Daddy Lumba then launched his solo career and released his debut solo album, “Obi Ate Meso Buo,” in 1990. The album received immense popularity and critical acclaim, featuring classics like the title track and “Theresa,” dedicated to his ex-lover. He has since released 33 albums, including notable ones like “Sika Asem,” “Aben Wo Ha,” “Wo Ho Kyere,” “Awosoo,” “Give Peace A Chance,” and “Ahenfo Kyiniye.” His latest project, “Ofon Na Edi Asem Fo,” was released in December 2022, reuniting him with longtime collaborator Kweku Mensah.

In addition to his own success, Daddy Lumba is renowned for nurturing the careers of budding artists who went on to become legends in their own right.

Some of these artists include Felix Owusu, for whom he produced the debut album “Vida” in 1992, Afia Ampofowaa, Kwabena Sunkwa, Ofori Amponsah with the “Wo Ho Kyere” album in 1999, Selina Orleans, Akua Serwaa Bonsu, Borax, Ateaa Tina, and many others.

His contributions to Ghanaian music and the support he provided to upcoming talents have solidified his status as an iconic figure in the country’s music industry.

With his passion, talent, and dedication to the craft, Daddy Lumba continues to be a role model for aspiring musicians, leaving an indelible mark on the rich musical landscape of Ghana.

Shatta Wale seeks GHS100m in defamation case against Blakk Rasta

Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known in the entertainment industry as Shatta Wale, has filed a GH¢100 million defamation lawsuit against media personality Abubakar Ahmed, popularly called Blakk Rasta, at the High Court in Accra.

The suit follows the publication of a video on Blakk Rasta’s social media platforms, Blakk Empire Media, on December 15, 2025, titled “Shatta Wale, self-confessed king of fraud.”

In his statement of claim, Shatta Wale contends that comments made in the video are false, malicious, and calculated to damage his reputation. He noted that the video attracted widespread public attention within 24 hours of its release, recording more than 150,000 views on Facebook and over 27,000 views on YouTube, alongside thousands of comments and reactions.

According to the writ of summons, the statements allegedly portrayed the musician as a fraudster, a thief, and a morally corrupt individual, allegations he has strongly denied. He further claims that Blakk Rasta accused him of associating with known fraudsters and allowing stolen funds to be channelled through his bank accounts, assertions he describes as defamatory.

Shatta Wale argues that the publication has caused serious harm to his reputation, created distress for his family, fans, and business associates, and negatively affected his career as a public figure.

The plaintiff is asking the court to declare the statements defamatory, order the permanent removal of the video and related content from all social media platforms, and restrain Blakk Rasta from making further defamatory publications.

He is also seeking a public retraction and an unqualified apology to be published on the defendant’s social media pages, as well as full-page notices in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic Showbiz.

In addition, Shatta Wale is claiming GH¢100 million in damages, together with costs.

Singer Wendy Shay has officially filed a complaint with the Ghana Police Service concerning allegations that she is engaged in lesbianism with a young girl she has adopted, known as Tracy Shay.

A young man, in a viral video, alleges that Wendy is acting on a spiritualist’s instructions to engage in inappropriate conduct with the minor.

Wendy is therefore urging the public to help identify the perpetrator so the person can be held accountable.

“The matter has been formally reported to the Ghana Police Service, and active investigations are underway. I have been informed that the individual behind the account has been traced to the United Arab Emirates, where he is currently employed with a construction company. Further steps are being taken through the appropriate channels to ensure he is held accountable for his actions.

“I am cooperating fully with the police and trust the investigation process to bring this matter to a swift and just resolution. I further encourage us all to continue standing against cyberbullying, online harassment, and malicious attacks on innocent people,” the statement shared on November 19, 2025, read.

Legal representatives of renowned gospel musician Evangelist Diana Asamoah also strongly refuted claims suggesting that she is a lesbian.

In a statement addressing a viral video circulating on social media, the legal team dismissed the allegations as slanderous and baseless.

The video, featuring a woman of unknown identity, insinuates that the gospel singer is involved in same-sex relationships.

According to the statement, Evangelist Diana Asamoah categorically denies the claim and maintains that she does not engage in any form of lesbianism.

Her legal representatives have challenged the individual behind the accusations to step forward and provide evidence, indicating their readiness to contest the matter in court.

“In the circumstances, we are throwing a challenge to the lady in the video to own up and justify her vile allegations so we contest her baseless claim in a court of competent jurisdiction,” the statement read.

The legal team further urged the public to disregard the video should the accuser fail to substantiate her claims.

This development follows a growing trend of public figures facing unfounded allegations online, raising concerns about misinformation and defamation on social media.

A dancer and member of the DWP Academy, Lisa Quama, has addressed speculations surrounding her style of dressing, firmly stating that her fashion choices do not define her sexuality.

Despite acknowledging her tomboyish style, Lisa strongly dismissed claims that she is a lesbian, emphasizing that one’s choice of clothing does not determine their sexual orientation.

“I am not a lesbian. That is a sexual narrative, but a tomboy is simply someone comfortable in male clothes. Yes! I love men with all my heart,” she clarified on The Delay Show on March 8, 2025

Lisa initially hesitated when asked whether she identified as a tomboy. However, after persistent questioning from the host, she eventually embraced the label.

“I don’t want to say yes… I will never be a boy because I am a girl. I am not dressing like a boy… You know what? I am a tomboy. I have accepted that I am a tomboy,” she admitted.

Her remarks come in response to ongoing social media discussions about her appearance, reinforcing the point that personal style should not be mistaken for one’s sexuality.

Ace Ghanaian Highlife musician and actress Paulina Oduro has hit back at rumors about her sexuality, calling them baseless and absurd.

Addressing the speculation that she is a lesbian, she expressed frustration over such claims, emphasizing that her role as a mother should be enough to dismiss the allegations.

“I had an interview with Delay, and she said people say I am a lesbian,” Oduro recalled during a discussion on Joy Prime on March 26, 2025. “I ended up saying they are very stupid and idiots because I have three kids and an amazing relationship with my partners.”

The veteran musician, who has remained single for some time, noted that her happiness is not dependent on being in a relationship. She asserted that she is emotionally independent and does not need a romantic partner to feel fulfilled.

“I have been on my own for a while. I don’t need a man or another human being to make me happy,” she stated. “You can be who you want to be, but don’t label me because it is something I don’t like.”

Paulina Oduro’s response comes on the back of public scrutiny regarding her relationship status, with some speculating about her sexual orientation. She expressed disappointment that people could fabricate such claims simply because she has chosen to remain single.

With a long-standing career in entertainment, Oduro has built a reputation as a bold and outspoken personality. She made it clear that she refuses to conform to societal expectations or entertain false narratives about her personal life.

  • “I sold 300 of my songs for $3million” – Shatta Wale

“I sold 300 of my songs for $3million” – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian dancehall giant Shatta Wale has disclosed that he made $3 million from selling three hundred (300) of his songs to an external entity.

Shatta made this known in a TikTok live session on January 15, 2026, as conversations around catalogue valuation continue to gain traction among Ghanaian artistes.

“I have over 11,000 songs online that my team is still trying to gather. I sold 300 of my songs for $3 million, used the money to buy houses, and do whatever I want with it. I put some of it into my Shaxi business and other investments. Your same artiste went to say there’s nobody in Ghana that has a catalogue worth that much,” Wale said.

Apparently,  Stonebwoy had ealrlier expressed scepticism about the valuation of local music catalogues in an interview on DJ Slim’s Loud Lounge in September 2025.

“I don’t believe that any catalogue in Ghana currently is going to earn a mention at around $3-4 million,” Stonebwoy said.

Thus, Shatta’s disclosure served to prove Stonebwoy wrong in his assertion about the value music catalogues wield.

Last year, two of Shatta Wale’s songs were removed from Apple music by music producer MOG Beatz.

His decision was driven by claims that the dancehall star sold his catalogue without giving him and other producers proper credit or payment.

MOG Beatz announced on X (formerly Twitter), 19th August 2025, that he had taken down Shatta Wale’s Reign Album and Wondaboy Album, citing unresolved issues of credit and royalties.

“You sell my beats, erase my credit, then buy luxury cars,” MOG fumed in a post directed at Shatta Wale.

According to him, Shatta Wale wrongfully claimed production credit for songs he and other producers made in order to secure money from an international company without their knowledge or consent.

MOG warned that the removal of the albums was only the beginning.

“Two albums have already been taken down, and more are coming down soon. Sell your assets and refund the company you scammed. Leasing your catalogue just to survive? That’s the path you chose. This time, the talk will come with action,” he wrote.

The award-winning producer, who produced some songs on Shatta Wale’s Reign AlbumGringo, Bend Over, If I See, and Squeeze, said he had been cheated despite his contribution to the project.

This fresh clash comes on the back of a long-running dispute between the two. In 2021, MOG Beatz publicly accused Shatta Wale of failing to pay him for 10 songs he produced on the Reign Album. Although Shatta Wale had promised compensation, MOG said he was never paid even after the album became a major success.

“Money Man @shattawalegh, me I dey see you as a big brother I never had. I know say you no be STINGY like that lol, I produced 10 songs on the #ReignAlbum but ano see no CASH from you since 2018. Seeing this made me laugh sooo hard,” MOG wrote at the time.

With tensions resurfacing, the battle between MOG Beatz and Shatta Wale over credits and royalties appears far from over.

Sound producer MOG Beatz has confronted dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, accusing him of using his intellectual property to scam a company.

According to MOG Beatz, Shatta Wale took over 25 songs he had produced and rebranded them under his own name.

He alleged that the dancehall artiste secured an advance running into millions of dollars from the deal, which he used to acquire luxury cars, including Rolls Royce to portray wealth above fellow Ghanaian artistes.

“The 2021 fight it happen, you no learn sense from inside, the money you no pay me. On a normal day, that Rolls-Royce you no fit accord am. Why you for come involve me and scam the company using my property after 2021, why you no learn lesson. Your fans, I know them go come side you and things all, eno be problem, if you think this one be defamation of character, make you bring evidence, me to I go bring my evidence,” MOG Beatz stated in a video shared on X.

The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) in June seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus used by Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, after its Surveillance And Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) undertook a lawful search in a home at Trassaco Valley Phase 1, in Accra.

According to EOCO, the FBI and the Justice Department intend to send a formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) to the Government of Ghana to return the car to the United States as part of Nana Kwabena Amuah’s $4,743,443 restitution.

Charles Nii Armah and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau (NSB) have been assessed as persons of interest and will be invited by EOCO to assist in further ongoing investigations in the coming days.

EOCO has noted that it may share the final investigation report with the FBI and the Justice Department “as part of our ongoing cooperation.”

Per reports, Nana Kwabena Amuah was jailed in October 2023 after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering. His actions and those of his co-conspirators resulted in the attempted theft of almost $4 million by defrauding almost 70 public and private organisations and wiring money into bank accounts through a shell company named Gretson Company LLC.

Twenty-four-year-old Shimea Maret McDonald, who is said to have had over 40 fake identity cards in her possession and helped Amuah move the stolen money and launder it through shell companies, pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

“This crime deprived businesses of their operating funds and caused significant harm to the well-being of the people who own and run those companies,” Prosecutor Kathryn Dieruf stated.

“I ask for a second chance, and I promise you will never see me in this courtroom again,” Nana Kwabena Amuah is quoted to have told the judge.

Judge Karen Caldwell, however, noted that “the crimes he helped commit were incredibly serious.”

  • ‘Why are DJs not paying me? – Shatta Wale on why the industry hated on him

‘Why are DJs not paying me? – Shatta Wale on why the industry hated on him

Dancehall King Shatta Wale has recounted what he considers as factors that made industry stakeholders hate on him.

According to him, the entertainment industry initially used Samini to “fight” him because he raised concerns about why DJ’s were not paying him and other discrepancies in the industry.

He belives that Stonebwoy was made to inherit the feud when they realized Samini was losing influence.

“My only problem was that, ‘Why are DJs not paying me? Why are radio stations putting my face and name on shows without informing me?’ and they said I don’t respect. I was fighting for those things for every Ghanaian artiste, so stakeholders will stop that nonsense thing, and that got me to become an enemy to the industry,” he explained duirng a TikTok live session.

Shatta Wale noted that, the former Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mark Okraku-Mantey, had even acknowledged this on radio.

The “On God” hitmaker insisted there is no real tension between them and said they actually live very close to each other.

“Where I live is only about a 30-second drive from Stonebwoy’s place, so we are neighbours. Sometimes, I see that people are worried about us not being at peace, but it’s important to understand that this perception is largely influenced by the media,” Shatta Wale said.

He stressed that even Stonebwoy is unhappy with the way their relationship is often misrepresented.

“Stonebwoy doesn’t like this portrayal either. However, it’s all part of the game, and we just have to live with it,” he explained.

Shatta Wale further pointed out that the media’s persistent portrayal of rivalry has made fans believe there is genuine bad blood between them.

“The media tends to create a narrative that suggests we are at loggerheads, and many of you take it seriously,” he added.

Over the years, the relationship between the two artistes has been characterised by public disagreements, brief reconciliations, and renewed speculations — a situation Shatta Wale now says is far from reality.

Shatta has set the record straight about his relationship with fellow Stonebwoy, saying they are actually on good terms despite what many people think.

Speaking in a recent interview, Shatta Wale revealed that he and Stonebwoy are even neighbours, living about a five-minute drive from each other.

He pointed out that the idea of constant tension between them has been largely pushed by the media, and does not reflect the reality of their relationship.

“It will shock people to know that Stonebwoy, Samini, and the others are all on good terms, but the media only focuses on the negatives,” he said.

Shatta Wale added that even Stonebwoy is not happy about how the media stirs up rivalry among fans and creates unnecessary drama between artistes.

He explained that while some of the hype and tension might be seen as part of the showbiz game, fans should learn to separate reality from entertainment.

“When I see people worried about peace among us, I know the media has planted that idea in their minds. Even Stonebwoy himself doesn’t like that. But I understand — it’s part of the game, and sometimes, we just play along,” he said.

Shatta Wale’s remarks come as a call for unity in the music industry, urging fans and the media to focus more on positivity rather than conflict.

Sonnie Badu shared an intriguing comment after Nana Kwame Bediako revealed his involvement with The New Force political movement.

Badu congratulated Cheddar for his bold move in addressing the challenges faced by Ghanaians through this political agenda.

In a seemingly playful manner, he humorously expressed his desire to be appointed as the Minister for Youth and Sports if he were to run for the presidency in the future.

Last year, Sonnie Badu lightheartedly suggested roles for artists like Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, and Kwaw Kesse in his hypothetical government, emphasising that it was all in good fun.

“Cedar, Asem ben nie? BEDIAKO, you are literally living your name… Well, I want ministers of youth and sports so I can travel with the Black Stars, and please give ministers of entertainment to… Nii Amah, Livingston and Obidi… Then give Agriculture to Kwaw Kese, I will help him find all fertile grounds to plant intampi… Just kidding… But on a serious note, Congratulations my brother; it’s a bold step,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

Cheddar officially revealed himself as the driving force behind The New Force political movement after the last-minute cancellation of the convention programme at Independence Square due to unforeseen circumstances.

The announcement sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some expressing doubts about his chances of leading the country.

  • Creative Canvas 2025: Shatta Wale – Disruption as a strategy, dominance as the result

Creative Canvas 2025: Shatta Wale – Disruption as a strategy, dominance as the result

Some artists work within the system.

Others build their own and dare the industry to catch up.

In 2025, Shatta Wale stood firmly in the second camp.

This was a year defined not just by music releases, but by power, scale, controversy, and control. Whether through his signature live interactions with fans on social media, global recognition, or public conflict, Shatta Wale remained impossible to ignore.

The year opened with a historic moment.
On January 1, 2025, Shatta Wale became the only African artist invited to perform at Vybz Kartel’s Freedom Street comeback concert in Kingston, Jamaica. In front of 35,000 people, he performed “On God” and “Already,” before being introduced by Kartel himself as the “King of African Dancehall.”

That moment was more than a performance.
It was a symbolic handover of genre authority on a global stage.

Back home, Shatta Wale turned presence into dominance.

From performing at the President’s Cup to hosting ShattaFest 2025 at Independence Square, the scale was unprecedented. His birthday concert alone drew hundreds of thousands of fans, making it the largest single-artist outdoor concert in Ghanaian history.

Beyond the numbers, the moment that stood out most was unity. Sharing the stage with Sarkodie and Samini ended years of public perceived rivalry in one night; proof of his influence not just over fans, but over narratives.

    Disruption often comes with friction.
In August, Shatta Wale was caught in a high-profile controversy involving the seizure of his 2019 yellow Lamborghini Urus by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO). The case drew national and international attention, sparking debates about celebrity, law enforcement, and power.

He also led a fan-driven digital protest that resulted in the resignation of a social media personality within 48 hours—another reminder of the weight his voice carries.

For Shatta Wale, controversy is a tool. One he uses, to his advantage, and forms part of an ecosystem he controls.

Musically, 2025 was focused and intentional.

The Voice of the Crown EP, released in August, was fully self-produced and carried messages of faith, resilience, and authority. Songs like “God Is Here” and “Street Crown” reinforced his identity as an artist who speaks directly to his base without filters.

This was not music chasing trends.
    It was music reinforcing ownership.

“Street Crown” became the year’s anchor record.

The remix featuring Vybz Kartel spent eight weeks on the Billboard US Afrobeats chart, topped the UK Afrobeats Chart, and became the most-Shazamed Ghanaian song in London and New York during October.

Online, the visuals crossed millions of views in weeks, proof that the street message still travels globally.

    The numbers closed the argument.

Across Audiomack, Spotify, Apple Music, and combined platforms, Shatta Wale emerged as Ghana’s most-streamed artist of 2025, surpassing 700 million streams for the year alone and over 1.2 billion streams across his career.

This level of reach is not accidental.
It is the outcome of independence, direct fan engagement, and total creative control.

Why Shatta Wale Represents the Disruptor Archetype

Shatta Wale’s 2025 was not about approval.
    It was about agency.

He disrupted systems, challenged authority, and proved that an artist can build power outside traditional industry structures and still dominate globally.

In the Creative Canvas framework, he stands as the Disruptor:

an artist who bends the industry around him, rather than the other way around.

  • Shatta Wale has been the cause of every attack against him – Stonebwoy

Shatta Wale has been the cause of every attack against him – Stonebwoy

Dancehall artiste Livingstone Etse Satekla, Stonebwoy has disagreed with assertions that Dancehall King Shatta Wale often get attacked by fellow musicians for no reason.

According to him, According to Stonebwoy, any public comment made by artistes about Shatta Wale is usually in response to something he has already said.

“Which artist attacks Shatta Wale? Who wakes up in the morning, unprovoked, picks a camera and starts talking about Shatta Wale?” he asked. “I don’t think there’s anybody.”

“Should anybody say anything, it will be like a response to what he has said. So I tell you for free, no human being is attacking Shatta Wale, not me,” Stonebwoy said in an interview with Headless YouTuber.

He dared critics to cite a single occasion where he spoke about Shatta Wale without being provoked.

“Point at one interview where I’ve gone unprovoked, where I’m not replying to something that has already been said, and say I’m causing a rift or beef,” Stonebwoy stated. “I don’t think any artiste does that.”

He noted that certain people fuel unnecessary disputes by assuming they are under attack even when they are not.

“I can confidently tell you every day, every time, that some people are their own enemies,” he said. “Some people are going through so much that they always feel others are against them.”

Montths ago, Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, addressed long-standing rumours of animosity between himself and fellow musician Stonebwoy, blaming the media for fueling a false narrative.

During a TikTok live session, the “On God” hitmaker insisted there is no real tension between them and said they actually live very close to each other.

In April this year, the came a need for the management of Stonebwoy to dismiss claims by popular disc jockey, DJ Lord, that they prevented him from playing Shatta Wale’s songs during the Guinness Accravaganza concert.

In a post on X on April 1, Stonebwoy’s manager, Chief Stylz, refuted the allegations, calling them fabricated. He questioned why DJ Lord would push the narrative that Stonebwoy’s team was behind the directive when he had already acknowledged that it was an event organizer who approached him.

“Just got off the phone with DJ Lord, and he admitted it was a lady from the organisers who told him that Stonebwoy’s team wouldn’t be happy if he played Wale’s songs. And just like that, you run with it? C’mon bro, think!” Chief Stylz wrote.

However, DJ Lord stood by his claims, insisting that his version of events was accurate. He maintained that the Guinness representative explicitly relayed that Stonebwoy’s team was not comfortable with a Shatta Wale back-to-back set.

“I have been faultless all my years in this industry, and I have no reason to fabricate stories. The Guinness representative explicitly relayed to us, verbatim from her phone, that ‘Stonebwoy’s team wasn’t comfortable with the Shatta Back-to-Back.’ I’m simply sharing what occurred,” DJ Lord stated.

Amid the ongoing dispute, an audio recording of a conversation between DJ Lord and Chief Stylz surfaced online. In the purported clip, Chief Stylz expressed disappointment over what he described as DJ Lord’s misrepresentation of the situation.

“Lord, what you are telling us right now isn’t what you wrote on social media… It’s like you have an agenda and you know what you are doing. If you were a good person, you wouldn’t have done what you did because we didn’t speak to any organiser,” Chief Stylz was heard saying.

Responding to the leaked audio, DJ Lord accused Stonebwoy’s team of recording the conversation without his consent and selectively editing it to fit a narrative.

“Recording without consent? Selective editing? That’s not how respectful communication works. I spoke openly in trust. Let’s not twist words to fit narratives,” he fired back.

As the controversy unfolds, the disagreement continues to spark debate among fans and industry players.

  • You won’t believe Shatta Wale pushed me to sing in my records – Sarkodie

You won’t believe Shatta Wale pushed me to sing in my records – Sarkodie

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has acknowledged Dancehall King Shatta Wale’s role in pushing him to sing more on his songs.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio on Hitz FM, Sarkodie said he would not have taken that direction on his own, crediting Shatta Wale for influencing the shift.

“The person who influenced me to do more (of singing in my records)…funny enough, you will never think about is Shatta Wale. I have done about three songs and where I sang. There was one that I didn’t rap at all. I sang throughout. But I am very uncomfortable with it because I will write it but its difficult for me to record it and make it public,” he revealed.

Shatta Wale and Sarkodie seem to be rubbing each others back for varrying successes in their worlds of music and personal lives.

In October, Shatta Wale rendered apologies to Rapper Sarkodie and his wife Tracy for failing to withhold what was meant to be a secret.

According to him, Sarkodie bought eight cars to support his transport business, called Shaxi, and the rapper trusted him to keep the information away from the public.

Unfortunately, Shatta Wale appeared on TikTok live on October 10, to disclose the information to Ghanaians while hailing the rapper as a “genuine industry player.”

“When he bought the car, he told me not to tell anybody, but I told him we all have to support each other. I know he won’t be happy that I have said this on live.

“Tracy is my baby. We are sorry for entering his (Sark) account. I am sure Tracy would ask why he didn’t inform her that he wanted to purchase cars for me. Shoutout to the Sark natives,” he added.

In 2024, Shatta Wale revealed that he invested over $2 million into his ride-hailing service, Shaxi, which was launched in 2023.

His decision, he explained, was driven by a desire to create jobs and support individuals rather than spending on personal luxuries.

“I wanted to make extra money to support people. Why else would I start a business?” Shatta Wale stated, reflecting on his motivation.

He highlighted that instead of indulging in personal luxuries like Lamborghinis or Rolls Royces, he directed $2.2 million into Shaxi. This investment covered app development, acquiring a fleet of mini cars, and promotional activities.

Despite his public persona, Shatta Wale emphasized his compassionate nature and underscored the importance of community support. Shaxi, a portmanteau of “Shatta” and “taxi,” aims not only to compete with other ride-sharing services but also to contribute positively to Ghanaian society by providing employment opportunities, particularly for youth and fans of his music.

In May this year, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) met with the Shatta Wale, the CEO of SHAXI—a ride-hailing platform established in 2021—for a youth employment partnership.

This strategic partnership with SHAXI will create thousands of jobs for Ghanaian youth who remain unemployed or seek better job opportunities.

As part of this collaboration, YEA will support the first 2,000 vehicles that subscribe to the SHAXI platform with GHC500 worth of fuel coupons every month for six months.

“This bold move is designed to ease the operational cost for drivers and encourage more youth participation in the transport business,” YEA noted.

SHAXI vehicles that operate on a 24-hour basis will receive additional incentives. This ensures that at least two young people can be employed per vehicle, working in shifts, and maximizing both income and job creation potential.

YEA noted that “this is a true game-changer in public-private collaboration where innovation and star power are used to drive real impact in youth employment!”

On his part, Shatta Wale noted that he is open to making more investments in the tech industry to provide more jobs to the youth.

This is not the first initiative being taken by YEA; in April this year, the agency entered a one-year agreement with SoccaBet Ghana to create 500 job placements.

Also, the agency, in partnership with the Ghana Fire Service, will recruit 5,000 young Ghanaians as fire assistants across the country.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and the Ghana Police Service have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to recruit 12,000 young individuals across the country to serve as Community Police Assistants (CPAs).

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Monday, May 19, at the Ministry of Interior, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YEA, Malik Basintale, noted that the government’s priority is not solely about creating job opportunities but “involving our youth in building safer communities.”

“We are here today because we have found some 12,000 jobs within the Ghana Police Service. Every day and anytime I wake up, the first thing that comes to mind is where I can find jobs for young people out there.”

“His Excellency the President is always willing to hear the number of jobs that have been found and delivered to young people. Today, we have found 12,000 more jobs for young people out there, and we are ready to exhibit in the coming days,” he added.

  • Kelvin Taylor advised me to stay and impact the youth – Shatta Wale, on why he has not left Ghana

Kelvin Taylor advised me to stay and impact the youth – Shatta Wale, on why he has not left Ghana

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has explained why he hasn’t moved overseas in search of better prospects, despite his frequent complaints about bad governance and dissatisfaction with conditions in Ghana.

He explained that Kelvin Taylor’s words during a private conversation deeply guided his thoughts on travelling and his responsibilities as an artiste.

Shatta Wale said Kelvin Taylor told him: “Junior, you need to learn the trade properly and teach the younger generation,” he wrote in a social media post.

He said the advice completely shifted how he thinks, encouraging him to stay in Ghana so he can refine his craft, build a lasting legacy, and support young talents coming up.

Shatta Wale, who regularly speaks about the difficulties within the local music scene, hinted that Kelvin Taylor’s guidance pushed him toward focusing on leadership and mentorship instead of relocating abroad.

The disclosure has triggered a wave of mixed reactions—some fans applauded Kelvin Taylor for influencing Shatta Wale positively, while others were surprised by the unexpected connection between the controversial broadcaster and the acclaimed artiste.

Although the conversation has generated buzz, both Shatta Wale and Kelvin Taylor have remained silent on the details, leaving fans wondering how their relationship began.

Gospel artiste Piesie Esther has advised young Ghanaians to reconsider their decision to travel outside the country if they have a thriving job.

According to her, living abroad is not as luxurious as many perceive it to me.

“If you are in Ghana and you have a good job and can take care of yourself. Please stay. If you want to travel, you can go out and get further education or experience, but make sure you come back and stay in Ghana,” she told Nana Romeo on Okay FM on September 15, 2025.

“What I’ve noticed is that people who have relocated abroad are not having it easy. They can work very hard, make money, but bills and other expenses will make them want to come back.

She noted that while studying or gaining experience abroad has its benefits, the real value lies in coming back to make an impact at home.

According to her, many Ghanaians eventually return because, despite earning and working hard overseas, the high cost of living and constant expenses make life difficult. She further observed that the pressure of working abroad often comes with health-related challenges.

“Many Ghanaians who have gone out there to work even develop body pains and health complications from the stress and hard work. So when they come back, they are so relieved. That’s why many people who relocate abroad eventually come back after a while,” she said.

She acknowledged the efforts of Ghanaians who move abroad for work, especially in Europe, but explained that her own trips are solely for her music career, after which she always returns home.

Her remarks feed into the broader discussion on brain drain, migration, and the availability of opportunities for young people in Ghana.

Several public figures have also voiced similar concerns, urging young professionals to remain in the country and support its growth.

Do you want me to keep it neutral and factual (news style) or give it a slightly opinionated edge to emphasize the brain drain debate?

A woman advises Africans against traveling abroad without securing accommodation beforehand.

She stresses the importance of thorough planning, highlighting the significant challenges and differences between life abroad and in Africa.

“You are travelling abroad, you don’t have where to stay and you are still coming. Whose house do you think you want to come and live in? I know I am the same person that said some Africans are very wicked towards people that travel outside, but I am the same person also saying that prepare your back before you come,” the young lady expressed.

She encourages prospective travelers to refrain from burdening those already residing in their destination with their stress.

A retired Ghanaian man who lives in Frankfurt, Germany, has expressed bitterness over going abroad.

The man, identified only as Expensive Joe, remembered that despite being able to use his abilities as a shoemaker and a carpenter to run his own business back in Accra, Germany did not permit him to do so.

“I travelled to Nigeria and Libya and finally settled in Frankfurt in 1991. We normally don’t say it, but if I am to speak for myself, I will it is the wasted years of my life. Travelling abroad didn’t help me. I was a shoemaker and carpenter back in Ghana. I was my own boss back in Accra.

“But when I came to Germany, I couldn’t make use of my skills because the system here is different. I believe if I had been given that chance, I would have made fortunes while I was here,” he explained.

Touching on his family, he reiterated that he was also not fortunate with women, as he has suffered 2 divorces – from a German woman who removed her womb, and from a Ghanaian woman he sponsored abroad.

“About family, my first wife, who was a German, told me she had removed her womb so she divorced me after 3 years. After that, I brought a Ghanaian woman here. She came with her 2-year-old child. We had 2 children later together. However, we have been divorced for almost 10 years now,” he said.

Even though he is being taken care of by the German government, Expensive Joe advised young Ghanaians to think deeply about travelling overseas for greener pastures.

“Now I am a pensioner, but my first child is 21 years. I am not working at the moment, so I am being taken care of by the government. I will advise young people to really take their time. If you have the money to travel, it would be proper to stay and work in Ghana with that,” he advised.

Meanwhile, a Ghana Human Development Report, titled “The Future Value of Work in Ghana,” released last year raised alarms about the potential deterioration of the country’s health system if urgent measures are not taken to address the significant outflow of locally trained doctors and nurses.

The report highlights a troubling trend: 24 percent of nurses trained in Ghana are currently employed abroad due to unfavorable working conditions. The situation is even more severe for doctors, with half of the country’s trained physicians having left for better opportunities overseas.

Authored by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in collaboration with the Statistical Service and the National Development Planning Commission, the report emphasizes that the Ghanaian health sector is in a precarious state.

It calls for immediate policy and pragmatic interventions to prevent a total collapse of the healthcare system.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ghana’s health system showcased its ability to handle emergencies effectively. However, the sector continues to face significant challenges, including shortages of essential materials such as personal protective equipment (PPE) and a dwindling workforce due to the emigration of qualified health personnel.

The Global Partnership Network’s 2024 data underscores the gravity of the situation, estimating that 50 percent of doctors and 24 percent of nurses trained in Ghana are working abroad.

This migration is attributed to poor working conditions for healthcare professionals within the country. The report stresses that without prompt intervention, the already fragile health system could deteriorate further.

To address these issues, the Future of Work report outlines several strategies to make the healthcare system more responsive to the nation’s evolving health needs. As the disease burden grows more complex due to factors like environmental issues, changing age structures, and lifestyle shifts, the healthcare system must adapt accordingly.

The report identifies 11 critical areas within Ghana’s health policy that require strengthening, including health promotion, palliative care, and rehabilitative care, which have traditionally lagged behind preventive and curative care. It advocates for a greater focus on health promotion, particularly primary healthcare and environmental health, to enhance both direct and indirect impacts on human capital development.

Furthermore, the report suggests adopting a life course approach to health delivery. This approach would address the needs of various population groups, such as the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and marginalized communities in urban slums, who often cannot fully benefit from existing curative and preventive care services.

Shatta Wale is replicating my early days in music – Rex Omar

Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale has been commended by Rex Owusu Marfo, also known as Rex Omar, the Coordinator of Blackstar Experience, for his significant impact on modern Ghanaian music.

Speaking on Prime Morning on Joy Prime television, Rex Omar noted that Shatta Wale embodies the same advocacy, energy, and vision he once championed to drive positive change in the creative industry.

“I see myself in Shatta Wale,” he said. “He picked up what I started and took it to a different level. I’m proud that today, a Ghanaian musician, a Ghanaian creative, is finally receiving the attention we’ve been fighting for.”

He said that the fame and respect Shatta Wale and other artists are receiving today come from years of efforts to promote their work, which the government is only now starting to acknowledge.

“I’m grateful that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the Government of Ghana are understanding the advocacy and taking action,” he noted.

Rex Omar said he was glad to hear that the 2026 national budget included, for the first time, GH₵20 million for the Film Fund and another GH₵20 million for the Creative Arts Fund, showing increased support for the creative industry.

“This is a step in the right direction,” he emphasised.

“We need to do more, but this seed funding can be leveraged to attract even greater investment into the industry,” he said.

The current government has pledged to ensure that Ghana’s creative sector plays a major role in boosting the country’s overall economic output.

Rex Omar has shared the three key legacies he hopes to leave behind during his tenure in support of Ghana’s creative industry.

Speaking on TV3’s Showbiz 360 on Saturday, July 19, the veteran musician said he would like to see a second National Theatre built in Kumasi.

He also expressed his hope that the music industry will boast a significant number of fully functional record labels capable of promoting Ghanaian music on the international stage.

Rex Omar’s third ambition is for Ghana’s film industry to establish one or two world-class movie studios that meet Hollywood standards, attracting global attention to local productions.

“I want to see a second National Theatre being built in Kumasi. I want to see about one, two or three stable record label company, well-resourced, that are competing to export Ghanaian music. I want to see a Hollywood standard studio built in Ghana so as to be able to draw global attention to Ghana to help our film industry,” he said.

Rex Omar said he is still committed to defending musicians’ rights and ensuring fair royalties, and that his new position gives him more ability to support the cause, despite claims that he has stopped speaking out.

“I am still a writer; I may not necessarily be in charge of GHAMRO, but they are still dealing with my songs and it is part of the creative economy. I am in a better position now to even help to make it better,” he said.

  • “This is huge, Shatta Wale needs to be studied” – Sonnie Badu on crowd at ShattaFest

“This is huge, Shatta Wale needs to be studied” – Sonnie Badu on crowd at ShattaFest

Gospel singer Sonnie Badu has publicly commended Shatta Wale’s success over ShattaFest concert.

Tens of thousands of fans filled the Independence Square on October 18, 2025, for Shatta Wale’s birthday concert themed, “ShattaFest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls.”

Sonnie Badu took to social media to lauds Shatta Wale regarding the massive crowd he pulled for the event.

“It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge. @shattawalenima needs to be studied. We all go throw money for ground, feed the streets and they got your back. Paaa paaa paaa! I think Ghana is evolving and soon we will take the centre stage again,” he wrote on Instagram on October 20, 2025.

According to reports, the event was planned to commence at 4pm, however fans began arriving hours earlier, with the entire venue and surrounding streets packed by sunset.

ShattaFest was a star-studded event with Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, and DopeNation, among several others were on the lineup.

The concert wrapped up around 7:05 a.m. on October 19, 2025.

Shatta Wale’s concert follows another massive one organized earlier by Sarkodie in September.

Sarkodie thrilled fans with a unique, exciting entry at his just-ended Rapperholic concert in Kumasi over the weekend.

Despite the delays in the commencement time of the concert, his legendary entrance to the stage melted any possible disappointment or anger.

It began with a poetic prelude where the poet praised Sarkodie as one whose glory cannot be boxed or hidden, a reference to his kingship, his heritage as the son of the Ashanti Kingdom, highlighting his well-known title “Landlord”, positioning not just a rapper, but a voice of heritage.

The speaker invoked the spirit of Kumasi and the Ashanti Kingdom, framing Sarkodie’s homecoming as a symbolic return to the source of his strength. One of the lines of the poet was her praise for Sarkodie as one who “ does not just rhyme, but remembers. He does not just perform, he preserves,” she delivered her rich culture and praise-loaded poem for Sarkodie, with the Ashanti Flag projected on the huge LED screens behind her.

As the poem ended, Sarkodie’s nickname “Obidi” blazed across the stage in flaming letters, followed by a glowing crown that hovered above, symbolising his reign in Ghanaian rap.

Following the grand display before the ‘landlord’s’ appearance on stage, it began to rain; however, the downpour didn’t dampen the fans’ energy, and they stayed put until Sarkodie appeared.

He finally showed, opening the stage with his “Original” song in which he addresses critics, cementing his reputation as a pioneer and not a product of hype. His journey through the rap journey with a line in the song which says, “I didn’t come to fit in, I came to stand out.”

He was surprised on stage by dancehall artist Shatta Wale, whose appearance was welcomed with loud and explosive cheers by fans. The duo performed their decade-old song “Megye Wo Girl”.

Sarkodie playfully shoved Shatta Wale as he joined him on stage, and their chemistry was electrifying, making it a highlight of the night.

The concert was held on Saturday, 27, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. When the stadium was announced as the venue to host the concert, concerns were raised by football enthusiasts and stakeholders about the authority approving the concert to be held at the stadium when Ghana is preparing for an international match. Ghana has a mixed history when it comes to the quality of our pitches, with rare cases of consistent maintenance often from hosting football, concerts, and rallies. Lack of pitch covers, among others.

The Baba Yara pitch is undergoing renovations to meet CAF and FIFA standards, including turf upgrades and drainage improvements.

Hence, to address these concerns, the Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, clarified that while his outfit has given the rapper the green light to host the concert at the stadium, he has been banned from extending his activities to the pitch itself.

Acknowledging the poor state of pitches in the Ghana government’s efforts to renovate and add to the number of stadiums nationwide, he explained that, “Sarkodie is prohibited from using the pitch to host the Rapperholic event. The pitch is important to us, and there is no way the event will be hosted on the pitch,” he said during an appearance on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show.

He continued that, while Sarkodie has explicitly been told to stay away from the pitch itself, he cautioned that sanctions would be applied if the arrangements were violated.

“We are aware that there is an agreement in place stating that a penalty or fine will be incurred should that happen, but we are not interested in pursuing that. There are no pitch covers, so we have to put measures in place to ensure that the pitch is safe,” he noted.

Sarkodie, responding to the NSA’s directive, took to his social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to assure fans that, as he had been explicitly directed from the outset, he expressed his intention to host the concert at the stadium and would not break any rules.

“The rules were set from day 1, and we are not ready to break it (sic),” he said.

  • I have disappointed Sarkodie, he should forgive me – Shatta Wale

I have disappointed Sarkodie, he should forgive me – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian Dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, rendered apologies to Rapper Sarkodie and his wife Tracy for failing to withhold what was meant to be a secret.

  • Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini case about repayment, not punishment – Amanda Clinton

Shatta Wale’s Lamborghini case about repayment, not punishment – Amanda Clinton

The ongoing court case about the seizure of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from dancehall star Shatta Wale is mainly about repayment, not punishment, according to international lawyer Amanda Clinton.

Ms Clinton stated: “The lack of criminal charges suggests this is truly about restitution—not punishing Shatta Wale, but securing repayment via the car.”

In an interview, the lawyer explained that because no criminal charges have been filed against Shatta Wale, the case looks more like a repayment process than a criminal trial.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) started the investigation after a request from the U.S. Department of Justice, which wants the car returned as part of a court order.

The vehicle has been tagged as a “substitute asset” to help cover a US$4 million repayment order against Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian who was convicted of fraud in the U.S.

She further explained that EOCO’s job is to carry out asset seizure laws and make sure Ghana meets its obligations under an agreement with the U.S. known as a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT).

In Ghana, however, the process is not automatic. Even though EOCO has taken the car, it must still go to a High Court for permission to enforce the U.S. request. The court will decide if the car is considered “proceeds of crime” under Ghanaian law and whether Shatta Wale counts as an “innocent purchaser” who bought the car honestly.

“The EOCO’s investigation is not a direct fraud case against Shatta Wale but rather an enforcement of a foreign restitution order,” she explained in an interview with Citi FM.

Ms Clinton’s comments show how international justice systems work together to recover assets linked to global financial crimes.

Shatta Wale was held for nearly two days over the issue and released on August 21.

Shatta Wale, was released from the custody of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) after a bail variation.

Shatta Wale was on Wednesday night granted bail of GHC10,000,000 with two sureties to be justified in investigations surrounding a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, a car identified by the FBI and the US Justice Department as proceeds of a $4 million crime.

The $4 million crime involves Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian who is currently serving a jail term in the USA.

However, he was not able to make bail, prompting his legal counsel to apply for a variation of bail. Subsequently, EOCO granted the singer bail of GHC5 billion with two sureties to be justified.

Under the new conditions, Shatta Wale is required to report to EOCO three times a week as investigations continue.

Shatta Wale was invited by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following a public claim on August 5 that he purchased the car in question at a price of US$150,000 from an unidentified party.

Nevertheless, EOCO staff and the entire operational team chose to carry on with the interrogation which ended around 9pm. Officers eventually left the Office around 11pm,” the statement further revealed.

Nii Armah was only granted bail around 9pm shortly after interrogation ended.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah would only leave EOCO’s custody after it undertakes surety inspection, which is a standard protocol.

According to EOCO, Charles Nii Armah Mensah has been unable to identify the person from whom he purchased the said Lamborghini Urus vehicle.

He is reported to have said he purchased it from the “Street” and from someone possibly called “ZAK” who may have contacted him on WhatsApp but whose identity he does not know and whose contact he has thrown away.

Also, EOCO states that Charles Nii Armah Mensah does not also possess any documentation in terms of receipt or transfer documents which shows that he owns or purchased the said vehicle except a customs declaration document in his possession bearing the name of Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is currently in jail.

Earlier this morning, die-hard fans of Shatta Wale started to mass up at the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following the singer’s detention on Wednesday.

They demanded his immediate release from EOCO detention.

EOCO’s investigation forms part of a larger investigation regarding possible co-conspirators in the $4m crime which occurred in the US involving some Ghanaians and recoveries of the proceeds of the crime.

Following requests from the FBI and the US Justice Department of EOCO to track the vehicle and conduct local investigations in respect of uncovering possible co-conspirators in Ghana, EOCO began looking for the vehicle until it was identified and seized in or around May this year in the possession of one Charles Nii Armah Mensah.

On August 15, 2025, a United States District Court of the Eastern District of Kentucky, Central Division of Lexington in a criminal case of the United States of America vrs. Nana Kwabena Amuah issued an order Forfeiting Substitute Asset on the Lamborghini Urus in question, authorising the US Government to take possession of the said vehicle in Ghana as restitution for the crime.

SM fans mass up at EOCO to demand Shatta Wale’s release

Die-hard fans of Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, have started to mass up at the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following the singer’s detention on Wednesday.

They are demanding his immediate release from EOCO detention.

Shatta Wale was detained on Wednesday over an inquiry related to the tax obligations of a yellow Lamborghini vehicle that was seized over a month ago.

According to the legal counsel of the artiste, Nii Armah presented himself voluntarily at the EOCO offices along with his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to assist with investigations.

His legal team has assured the general public that it is fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter. Shatta Wale’s counsel is expected to visit the EOCO office today.

Early this month, the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) noted that it will soon invite Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau (NSB), who remains anonymous, after they were assessed as persons of interest following the seizure of a luxurious vehicle tied to the proceeds of the criminal enterprise of one Nana Kwabena Amuah.

They are to assist in further ongoing investigations in the coming days.

EOCO in June seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus used by Shatta Wale after its Surveillance And Asset Recovery Unit (SARU) undertook a lawful search in a home at Trassaco Valley Phase 1, in Accra.

According to EOCO, the FBI and the Justice Department intend to send a formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) to the Government of Ghana to return the car to the United States as part of Nana Kwabena Amuah’s $4,743,443 restitution.

Recently, Shatta Wale was in the news after City of Wisdom’s prophet and counsellor, Counsellor D.Y. Donkoh, prophesied the death of the Ghanaian dancehall artiste.

He shared the video of how he received two visions about the musician’s fate. In the first vision, Shatta Wale was attacked by armed men but managed to escape and later thanked God on social media. In the second vision, the prophet said three gunmen ambushed Shatta Wale and fatally shot him.

Just a day after the Reverend’s prophecy went viral, Shatta Wale took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, July 23, and said he was traumatised, calling for the arrest of the pastor, which the Ghana Police swiftly responded to and apprehended the pastor on July 26.

Aside from Shatta Wale’s reaction, social media was thrown into a frenzy over the ‘Gringo’ hitmaker’s death prophecy, drawing police arrest calls from his fans.

Following this, Counsellor D.Y. Donkoh issued a formal apology to the singer.

In a statement dated July 27, Counsellor D.Y. Donkoh acknowledged the need for him to offer an apology for the trauma and panic he has caused Shatta Wale following the doom prophecy he gave in a video shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, July 22.

“I, Counsellor D Y DONKOH, find it right to address the recent prophecy I shared concerning Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale. The prophecy, which was delivered on all my social media platforms, has since sparked widespread concern, and I find it necessary to offer an apology on the matter,” parts of the statement read.

In May this year, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) met with Ghanaian musician Shatta Wale, who is the CEO of SHAXI – a ride-hailing platform set up in 2021—for a youth employment partnership.

Two songs of Shatta Wale taken off Apple Music over unsettled payment

Two of Shatta Wale’s songs have been removed from Apple music by music producer MOG Beatz.

Speaking at the signing ceremony on Monday, May 19, at the Ministry of Interior, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of YEA, Malik Basintale, noted that the government’s priority is not solely about creating job opportunities but “involving our youth in building safer communities.””We are here today because we have found some 12,000 jobs within the Ghana Police Service. Every day and anytime I wake up, the first thing that comes to mind is where I can find jobs for young people out there.”His Excellency the President is always willing to hear the number of jobs that have been found and delivered to young people. Today, we have found 12,000 more jobs for young people out there, and we are ready to exhibit in the coming days,” he added.

Dancehall king Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta, has clarified that his seized Lamborghini Urus is not stolen, as purported by the Economic and Organized Crime Office and critics.

He has assured his fans that his vehicle will soon be returned to him, as he has documents to prove ownership.

“God willing, yes, cuz I have every document proving it’s mine, forget rumors. For your info is not stolen, please,” he wrote on X.

NDC used Shatta Wale’s following to come to power – Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah alleges

Media Personality Okatakyie Afrifa has confidently stated that the National Democratic Congress leveraged Shatta Wale’s influence for votes in its 2024 election victory.

According to a video sighted by The Independent Ghana, Okatakyie Afrifa stated in the Twi dialect, “They have used Shatta Wale and dumped him. Before we voted in the 2024 election, he was campaigning for John Mahama and the NDC, and they used his following to come into power.”

“After they came into power, they have been using the EOCO to shut him up so he won’t be able to criticise the government,” he added.

Okatakyie Afrifa’s comment comes after the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus used by Shatta Wale in June, following its Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit’s (SARU) lawful search of a home at Trassaco Valley Phase 1 in Accra.

His communications manager, Sammy Flex, confirmed that the musician lost  a lucrative $2 million music distribution deal due to his current dispute with EOCO.

“Damn! Now these reports circulating online are disturbing business. After this $2 million distribution deal for the Voice of the Crown EP fell out, I am getting worried, chale,” he lamented.

Shatta Wale, though disappointed, has pledged to keep pushing towards success.

EOCO to investigate Shatta Wale, ex-NSB officer over seized Lamborghini linked to criminal proceeds

The Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) has noted that it will soon invite Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, and a former senior officer of the National Signal Bureau (NSB), who remains anonymous, after they were assessed as persons of interest following the seizure of a luxurious vehicle tied to the proceeds of the criminal enterprise of one Nana Kwabena Amuah.

According to EOCO, the FBI and the Justice Department intend to send a formal Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) to the Government of Ghana to return the car to the United States as part of Nana Kwabena Amuah’s $4,743,443 restitution.

“Foolish Romeo with No Juliet!”- Shatta launches attack on Nana Romeo

Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has launched a scathing attack on media personality Nana Romeo over questions he asked in an interview with musician Tinny.

Nana Romeo asked Tinny if he ever advises Shatta Wale to refrain from attacking people on social media.

While Tinny answered by saying, he even encourages him to go all and attack his attackers, Shatta Wale has warned Nana Romeo against conversations about him on his platform.

“Don’t think of your monthly pay and talk like that toilet station you are sitting in , I am mad ,I wake up and just start dissing ppl Abi … …Foolish man with foolish questions just for trends ..if I start with you , you won’t last on that cheap radio station chair like chamber pot nu … Foolish Romeo with no Juliet aboaba !!” Shatta Wale angrily reacted in a post on X.

Meanwhile, Tinny, who is a Ghanaian highlife musician, has expressed his support for Shatta Wale’s decision to attack netizens who attack him.

According to Tinny, Shatta Wale is an embodiment of serenity, but that will not be a reason for him to entertain unwarranted attacks on social media.

In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM shared on social media on July 18, 2025, Tiny said,

“I tell him to go all out. He should attack anyone who attacks him. Also, he should be at peace with anyone who is equally at peace with him.

“This isn’t about the Ga tribe because that is how everyone should live. He shouldn’t tolerate any form of nonsense, and that is the best way.”

Also, Ghanaian artiste Wendy Shay shared some challenges she faced due to social media trolls.

According to her, netizens chided her over their belief that she was doing all she could with her music career to imitate the late Ebony Reigns.

Thus, some family members were shy to associate with her.

“At a point, my mum asked me to quit music and return to Germany because the trolling was overwhelming and it affected everyone in my family,” she said. “Some of my relatives were even kind of shy to associate with me at the time.”

“Imagine they take your face, edit it to make you look like an old woman, and start mocking and laughing at you. They even said I wasn’t talented enough. It was crazy. I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy, but it built me,” Wendy shared.

Ghanaian media personality MzGee has also described individuals who hide behind ghost accounts to troll people on social media as those who lack the courage to be bold.

Her comments come on the back of an attack on social media after she shared a video of herself in a joyous mood.

On her Gee O’clock show, the broadcaster questioned the courage of trolls who lack the guts to confront people with their real identities.

“If you want to do drama, let’s do drama face-to-face. Don’t hide. If you’re going to be disrespectful, be bold enough to come with your real name and picture.”

“If you’re bold enough to go and insult people, come with your real face. Let’s see who we’re dealing with,” she stated. “Why do you go and create ghost accounts to talk trash? Me—who am I in the scheme of affairs—that you’d create a whole ghost account just to come and insult me?” the broadcaster shared.

They have insisted that A-list Nigerian celebrities would not extend the same treatment to Ghanaians. Shatta Wale, however, did not respond to any of such criticisms.

Dosty said Shatta Wale was impressed by King Paluta’s performance on their 2020 song, Ahodwo Las Vegas, and began discussions about bringing him on board.

“The person who wanted to sign King Paluta was Shatta Wale. He really wanted to sign him at a time when nobody knew him,” Andy Dosty disclosed during an appearance on the Asetena Pa podcast hosted by Akoto Mansa.

Veteran presenter Andy Dosty shared that he once had an in-depth conversation with Shatta Wale about plans to support King Paluta’s music career.

“I remember spending about an hour with Shatta Wale talking about King Paluta—how to shape his brand and the investments needed,” he said.

Interestingly, Andy revealed that King Paluta had no idea such talks were going on behind the scenes.

Today, King Paluta has become a major name in Ghana’s music scene and is one of the top nominees for Artiste of the Year at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards, which takes place on May 3.

McDan ranks Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale as Africa’s best

Daniel McKorley, better known as McDan, the CEO of McDan Group of Companies, has entered the conversation about Africa’s music scene.

He believes Ghana’s Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale stand out as the most talented artists on the continent.

Speaking on BTM Afrika with NY DJ, McDan made a bold declaration regarding the two iconic musicians from Ghana.

His comments reignite a fierce debate that has often pitted Ghanaian and Nigerian music stars against one another. While Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido continue to soar internationally, McDan’s remarks emphasize the lasting and powerful influence of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale, both in Ghana and beyond.

Stonebwoy, who blends Afrobeats with dancehall, and Shatta Wale, a dominant figure in the dancehall genre, have consistently captivated audiences in Ghana and around the world.

Their well-known rivalry, which once made headlines for causing disruptions at events, has only fueled their growth, driving them to hone their skills and set new standards in the industry.

Shatta Wale congratulates Black Sherif on ‘Iron Boy’ album, dismisses diss rumors

Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale has congratulated Black Sherif on the release of his latest album, Iron Boy, and addressed rumors surrounding a track that some listeners speculated was aimed at him.

The song, titled “Where Dem Boyz,” has caused a stir among fans, with netizens analyzing the lyrics and suggesting that it could be a diss track directed at Shatta Wale.

Despite the speculation, Shatta Wale took a calm and measured approach in responding to the rumors. In a post on Twitter, he expressed his admiration for Black Sherif’s work and urged him not to be swayed by online chatter.

“I’ve never heard you say Shatta Wale this, Shatta Wale that, but as usual, those unemployed Ghanaians are trying to push an agenda,” Shatta Wale said, emphasizing that the speculation around the song was simply a product of negative social media influence.

He further dismissed the claims, stressing that he’s focused on his career and financial growth, rather than getting involved in unnecessary drama.

“I’m too bank-minded for nonsense… Just do your thing, my G !!!! SM4LYF,” Shatta added.

Shatta Wale’s calm and collected response has surprised many fans who expected a more fiery reaction, especially considering the previous tension between the two artists.

Rather than fueling the feud, Shatta chose to congratulate Black Sherif on the success of Iron Boy, calling it a “masterpiece” and urging the young artist to keep pushing forward.

The song “Where Dem Boyz,” which is the 10th track on Iron Boy, continues to stir conversation online, with some fans suggesting that it could reference Shatta Wale, especially given their public disagreement in November 2024.

However, Black Sherif himself has not directly addressed the rumors, leaving fans to speculate.

Shatta Wale’s response highlights his desire to focus on his personal growth and career, rather than engaging in public conflicts. His words serve as a reminder to not let online rumors and negativity dictate the direction of one’s success.

  • Stonebwoy’s team denies stopping DJ Lord from playing Shatta Wale’s songs

Stonebwoy’s team denies stopping DJ Lord from playing Shatta Wale’s songs

The management of Stonebwoy has dismissed claims by popular disc jockey, DJ Lord, that they prevented him from playing Shatta Wale’s songs during the Guinness Accravaganza concert.

Shatta Wale withdraws from Nima Salahfest over misundertanding with new organising team

Shatta Wale’s management has announced that the dancehall star will no longer be performing at the highly anticipated 2025 Nima Salahfest.

The event is set to take place on March 31.

In a statement explaining the change, his management said the decision was due to a misunderstanding between the event’s original organisers, VIP, and the new planners, Broadway Entertainment.

“This decision comes as a result of a misunderstanding between the usual organizers of the event (VIP) and the new organizers of Broadway Entertainment.

The brand Shatta Wale, a strong advocate for unity and peace within the entertainment industry, has chosen to step back from this event to ensure harmony and togetherness between all parties involved and hopes the impasse will be resolved in the near future.”

The Nima Sallahfest has long been recognised as a staple event in Accra’s entertainment calendar, drawing thousands of music lovers and industry stakeholders each year during the Eid celebrations.

The presence of Shatta Wale was expected to be a major highlight of the event.

“We at Shatta Movement Empire remain committed to his fans and the growth of Ghana’s entertainment scene and therefore we believe that resolving conflicts amicably is key to fostering a stronger industry for future events.

  • Shatta Wale ridicules Sarkodie over new haircut after meeting with at club

Shatta Wale ridicules Sarkodie over new haircut after meeting with at club

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has surprised fans with a brand-new look, swapping his signature thick hair for a neat lowcut.

His fresh hairstyle caught the attention of dancehall star Shatta Wale at an event, where he appeared visibly puzzled by the change.

In a viral video, Shatta Wale was seen staring at Sarkodie in surprise as the rapper seemingly explained his new style.

Sarkodie, who previously rocked thick hair with a fade on the sides, has now opted for a much shorter cut. His new hairstyle features lightly trimmed hair in the middle, a subtle fade on the sides, and a curved line in the corner. He has also shaved off his signature goatee, keeping only a small mustache.

Both musicians showed up to the event dressed in black, with Shatta Wale completing his outfit with a cap.

While the haircut itself has sparked reactions, many social media users were even more surprised to see the two artists together in a friendly manner, considering their history of conflicts.

Sarkodie and Shatta Wale have had a rocky relationship over the years. In 2018, Sarkodie responded to Shatta Wale’s criticism with a diss track titled My Advice, in which he strongly called out the dancehall star.

After releasing the diss track, Sarkodie distanced himself from Shatta Wale, later explaining that he found the dancehall artist’s social media comments disrespectful. He said that as a friend, he would have preferred private conversations instead of public criticism.

Shatta Wale, however, insisted that their rivalry was all part of the entertainment industry.

He repeatedly claimed that Sarkodie should not take their exchanges personally, as the back-and-forth actually benefits them both.

At one point, Shatta Wale even accused Sarkodie of being a hypocrite. This happened after the rapper congratulated him on his collaboration with Beyoncé, with Shatta Wale suggesting that the praise was not genuine.

  • Listen to Shatta Wale’s song “Betting Tax”

Listen to Shatta Wale’s song “Betting Tax”

Dancehall star Shatta Wale has dropped a new song titled Betting Tax in response to former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam’s claim that the Akufo-Addo government never enforced the betting tax.

After the NDC promised to scrap the tax, the former minister argued that there was no need to celebrate because the tax was never put into effect—only proposed.

But many people in the betting industry disagreed, saying deductions were made from their winnings since the tax was introduced until its recent removal.

In his song, Shatta Wale calls out the ex-finance minister and the government, accusing them of being dishonest and only looking out for themselves.

The song has since sparked conversations online, with many people sharing their views on the betting tax issue.

“Liar, Judas!” – Shatta Wale fires Amin Adam over betting tax comments

The recent parliamentary discussions on the 2025 budget have sparked heated debates, with the betting tax being a major point of contention. Among the various reactions, dancehall musician Shatta Wale has made his stance clear.

Taking to social media, he thanked President John Dramani Mahama for prioritizing the youth and Ghana’s development. “Thanks to our newly elected president for helping the youth of Ghana. Don’t stop thinking about the country first… love always… #oneghana #onepeople,” he wrote.

He also used the opportunity to criticize former Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam, who recently denied that the previous administration ever implemented the betting tax. In response, Shatta Wale released a song titled Betting Tax, condemning the former minister’s remarks.

Sharing a link to the track, he expressed frustration over what he called dishonesty in leadership. “Ghanaians are tired of the lies… common sense should tell these leaders that they come and go…” he posted.

Before dropping the song, Shatta Wale had already taken to social media to react to Amin Adam’s statement. He shared a clip of the former minister’s press conference where he denied implementing the tax, adding a blunt caption: “Hey hey shut up there, shut up shut up there, Liar, Judas!”

During the press conference, Dr. Amin Adam had insisted that the government never enforced the betting tax. “Betting tax, which they said they have abolished, we never collected betting tax. So, to come and tell Ghanaians that you have abolished something that you have not implemented is to deceive the people of Ghana,” he stated.

His remarks came after Casiel Ato Forson, the current Finance Minister, announced in the 2025 budget that the government would be scrapping the controversial tax. This sparked widespread debate, with many Ghanaians and celebrities questioning the former finance minister’s claim.

Amid the backlash, social media users have continued to criticize Amin Adam for his comments, and Shatta Wale is just one of many voices calling him out.

Ghanaians need money, not GHS10 data – Shatta Wale to Sam George

Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has criticized Communications Minister Sam George over the recently introduced Independence Day data bundle package, arguing that Ghanaians need financial empowerment rather than subsidized internet access.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, the musician stated that free data will not alleviate the economic struggles of citizens.

Instead, he urged the government to prioritize initiatives that would improve livelihoods and create sustainable income opportunities.

“This is not what Ghanaians need, massa. You think this is what will keep you in power? You didn’t even consider giving every Ghanaian GHS1,000, but soon, you’ll be making plans to acquire properties abroad. Next joke, please! Let’s be serious in this country… Our people need money, money, money,” he said.

His reaction follows Sam George’s announcement on Independence Day that telecom providers had been directed to roll out special data packages for citizens.

MTN, Telecel, and AT Ghana subsequently offered 6GB of data for GHS10, an upgrade from the usual 1GB or 3GB holiday offers at the same price.

While some welcomed the initiative, others, including Shatta Wale, dismissed it as an ineffective response to Ghana’s economic difficulties. He maintained that policymakers should focus on implementing long-term solutions that address financial hardships rather than short-term relief measures.

Shatta Wale’s Range Rover isn’t his?

Showbiz investor Ayisha Modi has once again taken aim at dancehall artiste Shatta Wale following his recent outburst against foreign-based Ghanaians who frequently comment on celebrity affairs.

In a viral video, Shatta Wale lashed out at Ghanaian socialites and bloggers abroad, accusing them of spreading false narratives about celebrities just to gain traction on their platforms.

“Why are you people so obsessed with other people’s lives when you can’t even make ends meet in the countries you’re living in?” he fumed.

Feeling indirectly targeted, Ayisha Modi responded fiercely, daring Shatta Wale to call her out by name.

“You should have mentioned my name. I have told you many times to respect yourself like the icon you claim you are. Kwasia line saaaaa everyday. We shouldn’t talk about issues concerning Ghana? Then, when you are also going outside to perform, come with your Ghanaians,” she fired in a social media post.

She went further to question the authenticity of Shatta Wale’s flamboyant lifestyle, making claims about his recently acquired Range Rover.

“The car is parked in your house, but the car papers dey somebody in house. Shatta Wale, who are you? Junior, I saw you ooo. You and I know you can’t fight me. Keep on fooling yourself and I will post the owner of that 1999 Rolls-Royce,” she threatened.

Ayisha Modi, who has been an outspoken supporter of Stonebwoy, has had a long-standing feud with Shatta Wale since aligning with the BHIM Nation camp. She further criticized individuals she believes are too afraid to challenge Shatta Wale.

With tensions flaring once again between the two, fans are watching closely to see if Shatta Wale will respond to Ayisha Modi’s latest allegations.

Video: Shatta Wale’s meeting with Kelvynboy sparks debate

Kelvynboy has sparked controversy among music fans after a video of him meeting dancehall star Shatta Wale went viral.

What many expected to be a moment of unity in the industry has instead fueled tensions, particularly among supporters of Bhim Nation, who see the interaction as a betrayal.

During their exchange, Kelvynboy referred to Shatta Wale as his “godfather,” while Shatta Wale praised his artistry, even hailing him as the creator of Ghana’s top song.

However, some Bhim Nation fans believe Kelvynboy’s warm association with Shatta Wale—who has a long-standing rivalry with his former mentor, Stonebwoy—signals a shift in loyalty. They argue that his actions could be seen as a subtle jab at Stonebwoy.

Kelvynboy has yet to respond to the criticism, but the debate continues on social media, with fans questioning his intentions and allegiance.

    Watch video below:

The relationship between Kelvynboy and Stonebwoy began to deteriorate in 2019. The fallout was marked by allegations of disrespect from Kelvynboy towards Stonebwoy. Stonebwoy accused Kelvynboy of being ungrateful and disrespectful, which led to the termination of Kelvynboy’s contract with BMG.

Since their fallout, the feud between Kelvynboy and Stonebwoy has continued to escalate. Kelvynboy has made several attempts to reconcile with Stonebwoy, but these efforts have been unsuccessful. In a recent interview, Kelvynboy expressed his desire to mend their relationship, stating that he has been trying for years but has not received a positive response from Stonebwoy.

Stonebwoy, on the other hand, has made serious allegations against Kelvynboy, including claims that Kelvynboy and his associates posed a threat to his life. These accusations have further strained their relationship, with Kelvynboy denying the allegations and accusing Stonebwoy of trying to sabotage his career.

Shatta Wale’s sprayed cash help me take care of my new born baby – Prophet

Ghanaian preacher, Prophet Kwabena Kely, has shared how Shatta Wale unknowingly helped him during a difficult time.

In a viral video, he recalled attending a concert years ago when he was struggling to feed his infant child.

At the event, Shatta Wale threw money into the crowd. While the first round went to a group of boys, the next landed in front of him.

“I decided to go to a show not knowing Shatta Wale would come to perform. When he arrived, he threw money. The first one went to a group of boys, and the next round fell right in front of me. I picked the money. When I counted, it was GH₵180.

For this reason, the man of God stated that “I pray for Shatta Wale every day for no reason. He has helped me before without knowing. When I gave birth to my firstborn, things were hard. There was no pampers and food. The child hadn’t eaten and I was depressed,” he said.

The prophet therefore believes that this act was proof that God can use anyone to bless others.

He also defended Shatta Wale’s habit of spraying money, saying it is part of his success despite the criticism.

Recently, Stonebwoy mocked Shatta Wale for hoarding GH₵5 notes just to appear rich.

TGMA: I wish Shatta Wale would attend but the choice remains his – Sammy Flex

2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards TGMA is looming and while many anticipate the return of ‘Dancehall King’ Shatta Wale, his participation remains uncertain.

Conversations of his comback follow a recent statement from his manager, Sammy Flex, who, while expressing his desire for Shatta Wale to attend, acknowledged the final decision lies with the artiste himself.

“It’s my wish, not Shatta’s,” Flex told Onua FM’s Onua Showbiz host, Nana Kwame Gyan.

“We have a boss, and we can’t force things to happen. If he’s not ready, I can’t force him,” Flex added.

Flex’s comment highlight the ongoing tension surrounding Shatta Wale’s relationship with the TGMA organizers, Charterhouse. The artiste’s absence from the 2019 awards, following a public altercation with fellow artiste Stonebwoy, led to a ban for both artistes.

Despite this, Flex believes Shatta Wale has achieved a level of success that transcends competition. “He’s reached the God level of music, and most young musicians look up to him as an inspiration,” he stated.

“My appeal is for him to go and support the younger artistes, because any artiste who wins will surely mention his name.”

Flex’s call for unity echoes the desire for a more collaborative and supportive environment within the Ghanaian music industry. However, the final decision on Shatta Wale’s attendance rests with the artist himself.

“He’s already achieved a lot, and doesn’t need to compete with anyone,” Flex added. “If he decides he’s not going, then it’s fine.”

Whether Shatta Wale chooses to attend the TGMA this year remains to be seen. His decision will likely have significant implications for the event’s overall atmosphere and the future of the relationship between the artiste and the awards organizers.

The one thing I would want to change abut Shatta – Sammy Flex reveals

Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, is concerned about the dancehall star’s intense work habits, warning that he needs to slow down for the sake of his health.

The Dancehall King is famous for releasing hit after hit and ruling the music scene with unmatched regularity.

However, behind the scenes, he hardly sleeps or eats when he’s working, as per his manager.

According to Sammy Flex, once Shatta starts working at his mixing console, getting him to take a break is nearly impossible.

He shared this during an interview on Adom FM’s Work and Happiness when asked what aspect of Shatta’s life he would like to change.

“If there’s anything I want to change about Shatta Wale, it’s that he takes a rest. Sometimes, he’s forced to rest because he just won’t stop working. His career is always on his mind,” he said.

According to the manager, when Shatta Wale is behind his mixing console, time seemingly stands still for him as he becomes deeply engrossed in his craft.

“He is constantly working. That’s why he’s the artiste with the most releases every year,” Sammy Flex added.
