The conflict in Bawku has escalated, claiming yet another life and bringing the death toll to 26 since the resurgence of violence in late October 2024.
Despite a strict curfew from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., armed groups continue to disregard restrictions, carrying out attacks that have intensified fear and tension in the region.
The ongoing violence has forced the closure of schools and caused major disruptions to local businesses, leaving residents increasingly concerned over the deteriorating situation.
On Tuesday, November 12, a violent clash erupted in Bawku’s Daduri suburb, resulting in two deaths and multiple injuries.
The confrontation, which involved an intense gunfight, also saw two homes set ablaze, further destabilizing the already precarious security conditions.
In response to the mounting violence, many residents are fleeing the area. Recently, six buses filled with people were escorted by military personnel fromBawku to Bolgatanga, underscoring the growing exodus as residents seek safety.
The recent spike in hostilities is believed to be tied to the return of rival chief Alhaji Seidu Abagre from exile, which has rekindled tensions.
Meanwhile, recent ambushes on travelers have only worsened the conflict, deepening concerns about the worsening security situation in Bawku.
Ghanaian defender Baba Rahmanhas expressed his willingness to return to the Black Stars when fully fit. He explained that his decision to step back from the national team was due to injuries that had impacted his club performances.
The PAOK player acknowledged the calls from Ghanaian fans for his return to the team, saying he appreciates their support and intends to rejoin the squad when the timing is right.
Speaking with the BBC, Baba Rahman confirmed that, with his injury issues now under control, he is open to making himself available for national team selection.
“It’s a personal decision to take a break (from Ghana) to concentrate on my fitness because I’ve not had a great time with injuries. When I joined PAOK last year, I just thought it was wise to stay away a bit from international football to get my fitness back.
“Fans are asking me all the time to come back to play for Ghana, but I think I need to take care of my health before everything right now. People know about my injury history, and it has really been a difficult few years. I just want to enjoy my club football again, and then I know my international career will take off again too,” he said.
Rahman, one of the more seasoned defenders in the Black Stars lineup, has faced criticism for his inconsistent performances with the team.
The left-back’s last appearance for Ghana was in September 2023 during an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Central African Republic(CAR) in Kumasi.
Black Stars touched down in Luanda on Wednesday night, gearing up for their decisive AFCON 2025 qualifier against Angola scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m.
To familiarise themselves with the venue, the team is set to hold their final practice session on Thursday at the 11th November Stadium.
Before leaving Ghana, the team made a meaningful stop at Dzorwulu Special School, where they donated food, water, and an undisclosed cash amount to aid the students.
Ghana currently sits third in Group F with only two points, a position that places their qualification hopes on shaky ground.
Their fate could be determined even before Friday’s match, as Sudan—second in the group—takes on Niger in Togo on Thursday at 4 p.m. A draw would secure Sudan’s qualification, impacting Ghana’s standing.
Angola tops the group with 12 points, having already qualified, while Sudan holds second place with seven points. Niger, with just one point from a draw with Ghana, rounds out the group at the bottom.
Okyeame Kwame has once again shared his thoughts on the talents of Ghana’s new generation of rappers.
While he acknowledges the impressive work many young rappers are doing, he consistently names Amerado and Lyrical Joe as his top picks among them.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Okyeame Kwame shared, “Flowking Stone and EL are my favourite Ghanaian rappers. Their flow hits me in a unique way, but when it comes to the new generation, Amerado and Lyrical Joe are the ones who really move me.”
He praised Amerado and Lyrical Joe for their conceptual approach, style, skill, cadence, energy, and rhythm. This statement follows Okyeame Kwame’s earlier remarks to Graphic Showbiz last year, where he expressed his view that the current generation of Ghanaian rappers has surpassed the older generation in skill and creativity.
“For me, I don’t think there should be a debate or any questions raised on this. The young ones are completely better than us, and that is the whole essence of evolution.
In the interview, Okyeame Kwame highlighted Amerado and Lyrical Joe as two younger rappers whose rap delivery even surpasses his own.
With a career spanning over two decades, Okyeame Kwame has cemented his place as one of Ghana’s most talented rappers. He is widely admired for his rich lyrical content, fluidity, and distinctive style.
Veteran sports journalistMichael Oti Adjei has shared the key factors he considered before selecting Manchester City midfielder Rodri as his top choice for the 2024 Ballon d’Or.
As Ghana’s representative on the 2024 Ballon d’Or voting panel, Oti Adjei explained that he prioritized players who consistently made a significant impact, delivered in crucial matches, and produced standout moments throughout the year.
“I thought that if you had an individual who had the most impact on a team over the year, I was convinced it was Rodri. My conviction was that, when there were big games, when it mattered most, he wasn’t just a good central midfielder.
“In a game, if you need someone who would control the game, build uptempo, and attack and score in crunch moments, I always thought you could rely on Rodri,” he told Pure FM.
He affirms the narrative that Rodri won the award for being the most consistent player throughout the season.
“I think he was rewarded for his consistency. He was the best player in 2024 for his consistency. The previous year, I voted for Erling Haaland because I thought that although Rodri’s consistency was incredible, Haaland’s goals and numbers were impossible to ignore.”
Oti Adjei emphasised that Rodri was the most decisive player among the final shortlist, adding that Vinicius’ subpar run for Brazil cost him the award.
“But for 2024, on the balance of the players who deserved the Ballon d’Or, I thought Rodri was the most decisive for his team. If Vinicius had done as well as Rodri did at the national team level, I think he would have won it.”
Michael Oti Adjei cast his top five Ballon d’Or votes for Rodri, Vinicius Jr, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Lamine Yamal.
In the final tally, Rodri clinched the award with 1,170 points, narrowly surpassing Vinicius Jr, who finished close behind with 1,129 points in a tight competition.
A behind-the-scenes video shared by American actor and producer Tyler Perry in June 2024 showed the song being played during the filming of his television series Tyler Perry’s Sistas. This sparked curiosity among Ghanaian music fans, who suspected possible copyright violations.
In a recent interview with Onua TV, Kofi Nti revealed that he and Ofori Amponsah were compensated by Tyler Perry for the song’s usage.
He explained that their UK-based legal team reached out to Perry, ultimately negotiating a favorable agreement on their behalf.
“I did that song with Ofori Amponsah. We have a lawyer in the UK; he contacted the team, so negotiations and everything went well. So, we have solved the issue; a little money was involved,” he said.
Italy Mora, Panama’s representative in theMiss Universe pageant, has been disqualified just days before the competition’s grand finale following a personal controversy.
While officials have not provided specific reasons for her dismissal, rumors circulating suggest it involved an unauthorized visit to her boyfriend Juan Abadia’s hotel room in Mexico, according to the New York Post. Allegedly, Ms. Mora met Abadia in his separate hotel room without prior approval from event organizers.
Mora, however, disputes these claims, stating that her removal stemmed from a heated disagreement with Cesar Anel Rodriguez, the director of Miss Universe Panama, over what she described as poor event planning.
She claims her boyfriend was present during the argument, which intensified after Abadia revealed he had covered her expenses, including a $7,000 Carolina Herrera dress, due to what they described as the organization’s lack of support.
“Cesar said he didn’t have the money to cover the hotel or makeup costs,” Ms Mora revealed.
The final straw came when pageant staff discovered Ms Mora with Mr Abadía, sparking allegations of an unauthorised visit to his hotel room.
Despite her efforts to plead her case with pageant officials, the decision was final. Ms Mora confirmed her departure, expressing disappointment and noting that she complied with directions without foreseeing the consequences.
“There’s a lot of speculation that needs to be cleared up because it’s impacting my reputation, and emotionally, it’s been difficult. If I weren’t with my boyfriend, I’d be struggling even more,” said Ms Mora.
The Miss Universe organization has declined to overturn their ruling, and Panama won’t have a replacement contestant. The pageant management team said she had been subjected to an “exhaustive evaluation by our disciplinary commission” over the purported “personal error.”
Miss Universe representatives also addressed her dismissal in a statement. “It is important to note that we made this decision with the utmost respect for all parties involved. Our number one priority remains the welfare and transparency for all of our candidates, who exemplify diversity, talent and dedication,” they wrote.
The 19-year-old beauty queenhad been prepared to compete alongside 130 international delegates at the Miss Universe competition in Mexico City on November 16. Following her disqualification, the Miss Panama Organization released a statement confirming that they had arranged for her return to Panama.
Controversial Ghanaian prophet Ebenezer Opambour Yiadom, popularly known as Prophet 1, has issued a stern warning to broadcast journalist Afia Pokua (Vim Lady) for labelling him as a “shallow-minded” person.
In a viral video, Prophet Opambour was spotted saying that if the broadcaster insulted him again, he would hurl curses at her.
“If I have not said anything negative about her (Afia Pokua) and she chooses to insult me, I will curse her and do whatever I please with her, including her unborn children,” he declared.
He added, “I give her until Sunday; if she makes another comment about me, I will curse her.”
Prophet Opambour also took the opportunity to question the ‘One District, One Factory’ policy promised by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“We don’t want the promise the NPP made in 2016 and 2020 about the One District, One Factory. Where are all the factories? Where are the dams? We don’t want another promise from Bawumia that the Ghana Card can be used to purchase a car when elected. That’s why I asked the question when we met Mahama. So I don’t understand why the girl insulted me,” he added.
Background
On November 11, 2024, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, held a fellowship service with clergymen in Kumasi.
At the event, Prophet Opambour expressed concerns about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s policy that would use the Ghana Card as a foundation for a credit scoring system, allowing citizens to purchase cars. Opambour ridiculed the initiative, questioning its feasibility and challenging the notion that the Ghana Card could simply be used to buy vehicles.
However, Afia Pokua disagreed, calling Opambour “shallow-minded” and arguing that he had misunderstood the project’s intent.
“Anybody who condemns the Ghana Card is a shallow-minded person. This shouldn’t even be a topic for discussion because this same identification card is what has made Europe what it is today,” she stated.
Renowned gospel artist Sonnie Badu has encouraged a balanced approach between spirit-filled and commercialised gospel music.
During an interview on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey on Wednesday, Badu stressed the importance of blending both spiritual depth and commercial appeal in gospel music.
He warned against allowing commercial interests to overshadow the spiritual essence, emphasising that both aspects should complement each other.
“Regret comes in at the end of the day after realising you were solely spirit-filled and have missed so many opportunities,” he stated.
Sonnie Badu also noted that uploading songs on digital platforms incurs costs, and therefore, commercialising spirit-filled music can be of financial benefit to gospel musicians, allowing them to sustain their craft and gift. He also urged gospel musicians to balance commercialisation and spirituality.
“Leverages gained after your music blesses the world become a plus for your craft,” he remarked.
He went on to explain that music resonates with the soul, so even with language differences, a musician’s work can have a global impact and be widely appreciated if they excel in their craft.
The gospel musician also disclosed that his upcoming “Afro Monty” concert in partnership with Silicon House will take place on November 29 at Independence Square.
Badu also shared that the event is free, promising Ghanaians an extraordinary experience that will raise the bar and exceed expectations.
“If you don’t come early, you’re going to miss your seat because it’s free at Independence Square,” he added.
Black Stars deputy captain Thomas Parteyrecently shared a photo enjoying quality time with his family after being excluded from Ghana’s squad for the matches against Angola and Niger.
The Arsenal midfielder posted a picture of himself strolling through the streets of London, pushing his newborn in a baby stroller. Partey and his partner, Janine Mackson, celebrated the arrival of their first child in January 2024.
Due to his omission from the squad, Partey will not participate in the upcoming international games. Black Stars head coach Otto Addo remained discreet about the decision, only revealing that he had a “confidential” discussion with Partey regarding the matter.
“Partey wanted to come, but I made it quite clear to him that he cannot come,” Otto Addo told the media during the squad unveiling.
Thomas Partey has now missed the Black Stars squad for the second time in a row after pulling out of the previous squad on account of being unwell.

National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has announced plans to stage a protest at the Ministry of Education onNovember 20 and 21, demanding clarity on the settlement of overdue contract payments.
In a statement submitted to the Regional Commander of the Ghana Police Service in Accra on November 12, 2024, NAIS expressed dissatisfaction with the unpaid contracts for supplying school uniforms and house dresses. The association highlighted that its members have consistently fulfilled their obligations by producing and delivering uniforms across the country.
However, despite meeting these responsibilities, NAIS members have not been compensated for arrears dating back to 2022–2023, nor have they received full payments for the 2023–2024 school year. Efforts to address the payment delays have reportedly been met with little response from the Ministry.
In addition, NAIS voiced concerns that the Ministry may be considering excluding its members from future supply contracts for school uniforms and house dresses. The association warned that such a move would harm the livelihoods of workers in the local garment industry and disrupt the timely supply and quality of uniforms.
NAIS stressed that this exclusion would undermine the government’s support for local contentand jeopardize the development of Ghana’s textile and fashion industries by limiting employment opportunities, skill-building, and overall industry growth.
National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has addressed public concerns, affirming that the free dialysis policy remains on track and is not under threat before its official launch.
The NHIA announced it is accelerating efforts to equip participating facilities with additional dialysis machines to support the policy’s rollout. Dr. Dacosta Aboagye, CEO of NHIA, stated that funding from the World Bank has been approved to facilitate a successful implementation, which aims to benefit hundreds of patients in need of dialysis.
This assurance follows concerns raised by the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), a major referral center, regarding limited resources to implement the policy.
KATH’s Deputy Medical Director, Dr. Yaw Opare Larbi, noted in an interview with JoyNews that the hospital currently operates with only seven functional machines and urgently requires additional equipment.
“We are hoping that the government will support us. This has been done recently. I think I can mention Korle Bu, who were given 30 dialysis machines,” he said.
“And we have seven, and if you look at the number of patients we see in our catchment area, we certainly need more help.”
He added that the hospital’s workload would worsen without additional machines.
However, NHIA’s Dr Dacosta Aboagye reassured that plans are already underway to equip KATH and other facilities with additional machines, ensuring a smooth launch in December.
“Let me assure Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital that there should be no cause for alarm. About two months ago, they brought a request to the NHIS for equipment support, and we wrote a proposal to the World Bank.
“That proposal, as we speak, has been approved and is currently with the PPA. Once we get the PPA letter, we’ll be procuring some dialysis machines, and Komfo Anokye, Effia Nkwanta, and a few other centers will be beneficiaries. So they shouldn’t worry at all,” he stated.
Dr Aboagye highlighted that the procurement of these machines is part of a larger government strategy, noting that under the Agenda 111 initiative, dialysis centers will be established to ensure people do not have to travel far for treatment.
“It’s a comprehensive programme that is going to be rolled out by the government, and I believe that the facilities will be able to cope with it,” he added.
Dr. Aboagye revealed that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has successfully settled a legacy debt of GH₵1.2 billion, which had been carried over since 2017.
Speaking at an event with the Ghana Medical Association, he assured that the scheme is now financially sound and equipped to efficiently carry out its responsibilities.
National Labour Commission (NLC) has initiated legal proceedings in response to the ongoing strike by workers of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA).
The GHA workers began an indefinite strike on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, to protest the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1118).
In a statement issued the same day, the NLC stressed that the strike action was not conducted in accordance with the legal requirements outlined in the Labour Act, 2023 (Act 651). Consequently, the commission directed the workers to suspend the strike and adhere to proper procedures.
However, NLC Executive Secretary Ofosu Asamoah stated in an interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu that the commission had moved to take legal action because the workers had disregarded its directive to follow due process.
“They did not follow the due process the law provides for that you should give the labour commission at least seven days’ notice, two notices to the commission and then to your employers and in their case even when it comes to the declaration of strike it is done by the national union and not a divisional union.
“So in both cases they were wrong and you know earlier before the strike could take place the Ministry had petitioned the commission and they were summoned before the commission.
“We have initiated (legal action) it already. We are yet to be called. But in any case, if they decide to go back we will have to halt the court action and I think that it will be in their interest and the interest of all Ghanaians that once they have admitted before the commission that they had not followed the due process we expect them to respect our directive,” Asamoah stated.
Retired Supreme Court Justice William Atuguba has commended Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, for his professionalism and impartiality as a lawyer.
Justice Atuguba noted that, despite Appiah-Kubi’s strong affiliation with the NPP, his legal judgments and decisions are free from political bias or influence.
“There’s another lawyer, currently he’s a Member of Parliament. I’ve never known him, I’ve never seen him except on social media. Appiah-Kubi … such a person, if I had my way and he was interested in the Supreme Court, I would put him there because he’s a brass stack NPP but very objective-minded; very, very objective,” he said during an interview on JoyNews on November 12, 2024.
Justice Atuguba also named, the late Anthony Akoto Ampaw—President Nana Akufo-Addo’s lawyer as another person he would have appointed a a judge for his impartiallity and objectiveness. He praised both men for taking stances on key national issues that did not align with their party’s interests, reflecting their commitment to impartiality and justice.
“It’s not everybody who has been involved in politics who can be necessarily politically minded. I am speaking for myself. Somebody like the late Akoto Ampaw of blessed memory, I can say that as far as I’m concerned, even though he was in the president’s chambers, he was his lawyer in the election petition 2020.
If I had my way and that man was interested in going to the Supreme Court, I would have appointed him because if a legal issue arises, he will look at it professionally. You can trust Akoto Ampaw to do that” he added.
The presidential candidate of theLiberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to reprint the 2024 presidential ballot papers, raising concerns over the inclusion of the late Akua Donkor, former candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).
Mr. Akpaloo argues that the presence of Akua Donkor’s image on the ballot could mislead voters and influence the election results.
Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, November 13, he emphasized that featuring the deceased candidate could create confusion and possibly lead to disputes regarding the election outcome.
“Having a ballot paper with Akua Donkor’s picture is going to create a whole lot of problems in the country. People are going to vote for Akua Donkor, of whom we are all aware that she is not alive,” Mr. Akpaloo stated. “Are we going to say that those votes cast for her will be ignored, or are they going to be counted? We don’t want a situation where a losing candidate might challenge the results because of percentages.”
The LPG flagbearer also questioned the EC’s decision not to reprint ballots, noting that if a new GFP flagbearer had been approved, the EC would have reprinted the ballots to reflect the change. He suggested that allowing Akua Donkor’s image to remain on the ballot could set a problematic precedent for future elections.
“Leaving her image on the ballot raises questions about the electoral process’s integrity and would certainly affect voter perceptions,” he argued. He further pointed out that the EC should not be deterred by financial concerns if the reprint is necessary to uphold electoral integrity.
The EC has yet to respond to Mr. Akpaloo’s call, which adds to the discourse around the upcoming December election.
“They should forget about the money involved, let’s do the right thing that would create a peaceful environment in this country,” he said.
He further argued that there would be no need for re-balloting.
“No, we don’t need the re-ballloting. It’s like when you take the Parliamentary arrangement. If a party is not presenting a candidate in a particular constituency, that place is removed and it is pushed up, so the same thing applies here. So far as they (GFP) are not contesting this election, all that we have to do is take their portion out and push the position up”.
He said although he was not personally present at yesterday’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, his General Secretaryraised these concerns but they were not heeded to by the EC.
Mr. Akpaloo added that he was considering seeking legal redress over the EC’s decision.
Ghanaian government, through the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), has distributed GH¢51,866,369.31 to 4,173 young entrepreneurs as part of the YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project (GJSP). Beneficiaries from all 16 regions were selected through a thorough screening process.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, GEA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, applauded the initiative as a clear demonstration of the government’s dedication to fostering entrepreneurship. She highlighted that, in addition to financial support, beneficiaries also received mentorship and training in various districts.
According to Mrs. Yankey-Ayeh, some entrepreneurs were granted up to GH¢30,000, with support extended to both new startups and those looking to expand existing businesses. She emphasized that applicants were required to submit business plans, which were evaluated by an independent committee to ensure a fair selection process.
“This is the third and largest phase of disbursement. There will be monitoring, along with mentoring, to ensure beneficiaries use the support appropriately. We need to track job creation,” she said.
Mrs. Yankey-Ayeh dismissed claims that the recent disbursement, made just 24 days ahead of the December 7 election, was a political move or an attempt to influence votes.
The YouStart initiative, a component of the Ghana CARES program, is designed to reduce barriers for young entrepreneurs, with the overarching goal of creating three million job opportunities over the next three years.

Veteran Nollywood actor Bob-Manuel Udokwu recently shared his perspective on sustaining a lasting marriage, advising singles to prioritize meaningful values over superficial qualities such as wealth and physical looks. In an interview with The Punch, the actor, who has been married for 24 years since February 19, 2000, emphasized that the foundation of a
He advised:
“I will tell them to look beyond the present. When I say the present, I mean superficial things like beauty, handsomeness, and material things. The world, these days, is very materialistic; young people nowadays in Nigeria are too materialistic. All their focus is on material things. It always does not work like that.
Some of our parents started out with almost nothing. Many of our fathers were not millionaires, nor did they have thousands of naira before marrying our mothers, yet they went on to build enduring marriages.
Often, it isn’t the grandest weddings that yield the most lasting marriages, nor are the most modest weddings always the ones that guarantee success. The strength of a marriage depends on the commitment of the individuals involved.
There are countless examples of wealthy families where arranged marriages between their children end in divorce within months. Although these couples may have children, and financial resources are abundant, those children often grow up lacking a clear sense of direction. Young people today need to
Some older women often recall that their husbands had “nothing” when they married, though that “nothing” symbolized a potential for growth.
Sadly, today’s world has shifted, and marriage has become more transactional, with wealth being the primary criterion.
True wealth is transient, and those who look beyond it often find stability. In previous generations, divorce was rare and seen as a taboo, but today, financial and peer pressures lead many marriages to break down. People should carefully consider what they want from marriage.”
Ghanaian gospel artistUncle Ato has expressed dissatisfaction with the way some churches treat their instrumentalists and musicians.
During an interview on TV3’s Showbiz 360, Uncle Ato highlighted his concern using the biblical reference from Luke 10:7, which states, “The laborer deserves their wages.” He urged churches to be more considerate and ensure that musicians and other individuals in need of support are given the respect and compensation they deserve.
“The scripture makes it clear. In 1st Corinthians chapter 9, the Bible says that no soldier goes to war buying his own uniform and boots—no. He deserves to be taken care of.
In Matthew 10, it also says the labourer deserves his pay. So when you go, they will give you a place to sleep, and it must be provided. And because that is assured, you don’t need to worry about charging them; it’s something that must be made available for you,” he said.
According to him, even if churches do not have the financial muscle to pay their musicians every month, they should show concern for their well-being.
“Probably if you don’t put them on salary, prove to them that you care,” Uncle Ato said.
He further noted that sometimes church leaders do not even know where some of these musicians sleep, what they eat, or how they come to church. “We don’t even care,” he added.
“We need to do it. Even if we gather church money and give it to orphanages and those on the street, what’s the big deal if you support those who are contributing to the church? It’s not a problem at all,” he stated.
Uncle Ato is known for songs such as ‘Mensuro’, ‘Jesus’, ‘Aseda’, ‘Kronkron’, ‘Mewo Anyidado’, among others.
“The scripture makes it clear. In 1st Corinthians chapter 9, the Bible says that no soldier goes to war buying his own uniform and boots—no. He deserves to be taken care of.
Uncle Ato further referenced Matthew 10, which emphasizes that “the laborer deserves his pay.” He explained that just as a place to stay is expected to be provided, so too should musicians be given what they are owed. He added that while some churches may not have the financial capacity to pay their musicians on a regular basis, they should still show care and consideration for their well-being.
“Probably if you don’t put them on salary, prove to them that you care,” Uncle Ato said.
He further noted that sometimes church leaders do not even know where some of these musicians sleep, what they eat, or how they come to church. “We don’t even care,” he added.
“We need to do it. Even if we gather church moneyand give it to orphanages and those on the street, what’s the big deal if you support those who are contributing to the church? It’s not a problem at all,” he stated.
Uncle Ato is known for songs such as ‘Mensuro’, ‘Jesus’, ‘Aseda’, ‘Kronkron’, ‘Mewo Anyidado’, among others.
Niger has reversed its decision to host their round-five match against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in Morocco.
Initially, Niger, lacking a CAF-approved stadium, had selected the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat as their venue. However, the Nigerien Football Federation has now opted to move the game to the Stade de Kegue.
Although Niger had already set up camp in Morocco, they have since relocated to Lome, where they will continue their preparations for the match, scheduled for Thursday, November 14, 2024.
The first-round encounter between the two teams, held at Juba Stadium in September 2024, saw Sudan edge Niger 1-0 thanks to a goal from Eisa Abobaker.
Sudan’s head coach, Kwasi Appiah, only requires a draw to secure his team’s qualification for AFCON in Morocco and will rely on his players to achieve a positive result in this crucial fixture.
For Niger, the match represents a battle for pride. Despite winning theirremaining matches, they are already out of contention for a spot in Morocco, having accumulated just one point from their four previous matches.
Some football fans on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), have humorously proposed that the BBC should replace outgoing sports broadcaster Gary Lineker with Ghanaian comedian and presenter Akwasi Boadi, popularlyknown as Akrobeto.
Fans of the BBC’s Match of the Day show jokingly suggested that Akrobeto would be an ideal successor to Lineker, who is stepping down from the programme after a 25-year run at the end of the current football season.
In response to the buzz, a clip of Akrobeto delivering sports news on UTV was shared online, quickly racking up over 2 million views. Many English football fans remarked on how entertaining the show would be with Akrobeto at the helm.
The well-known comic actor presents news with a comedic twist on his television show, The Real News. A highlight of the show is his sports segment, where his amusing mispronunciations of football team names have created countless viral moments.
Alex Kay-Jelski, BBC Sport’s director, has confirmed that Gary Lineker will indeed leave the programme but will continue to host the BBC’s coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Gary is a world-class presenter, and we’re delighted that he’ll lead our coverage of the next World Cup and continue to lead our live coverage of the FA Cup,” he said, as quoted by UK outlet The Independent.
“After 25 seasons,Gary is stepping down from MOTD.We want to thank him for everything he has done for the show, which continues to attract millions of viewers each week. He’ll be hugely missed on the show, but we’re so happy he is staying with the BBC to present live football,” he added.
On Friday, a federal judge denied Sean “Diddy” Combs’request to prevent potential witnesses from speaking publicly in his criminal sex trafficking case, asserting that his concerns do not outweigh an alleged victim’s right to free speech.
Combs’ legal team had sought a gag order to stop potential witnesses and their attorneys from making public statements following a wave of civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault, as well as media interviews given by a witness who had previously testified before the grand jury.
Judge Arun Subramanian stated that he is working to balance Combs’ right to a fair trial with the First Amendment rights of the alleged victims.
“Not all alleged victims will be participants in this case, and a blanket restriction on their speech will silence individuals who may never have anything to do with the proceedings here. And in any event, less restrictive alternatives must be considered and rejected before imposing a restraint on speech,” Judge Subramanian wrote in the order.
The order comes as Combs’ legal team filed a new request seeking release from jail based on new information, they argue, that undercuts the prosecution’s allegations that Combs forced women and others to engage in drug-fueled, days-long sex acts.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges and has said the allegations in the civil lawsuits, including abuse of minors, are “absolutely false.”
Combs has been denied bail twice—initially by the magistrate judge he first appeared before, and subsequently by the trial judge assigned to the case. After the trial judge recused himself, the case was reassigned to Judge Arun Subramanian.
Prosecutors have argued that Combs poses a physical threat to witnesses and victims and allegedly engaged in witness tampering by contacting individuals linked to the case.
In a court filing with numerous redactions, Combs’ attorneys claim that information they’ve obtained from prosecutors “negates” the government’s claim that there is a second victim—in addition to “Victim 1” as identified in the indictment—and weakens prosecutors’ allegation of witness tampering.
“The new material demonstrates that the government previously misrepresented the weight of the evidence. And it undermines the government’s claim that Mr. Combs presents a danger,” Combs’ lawyers wrote to the judge.
Combs’ legal team said there is evidence that undermines the core allegation that he sex trafficked his former long-term girlfriend, identified as Victim 1 in the indictment.
“The government recycled Victim 1’s allegations, but the case requires her potential testimony, which will be refuted by years of written correspondence and other documentary evidence.”
Combs’ lawyers also argued that the conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center, where he is housed, make it difficult to prepare for trial. During a recent government sweep of the federal jail, they said, guards confiscated Combs’ pens.
“Officers ruffled through his personal notes and left them scattered, out of order and disorganised. These notes included his work product and notes reflecting communications with defence counsel. The officers also seized Mr. Combs’ pens, leaving him unable to take further notes while reviewing discovery or during counselled calls,” they wrote.
Combs’ legal team put forward a bail proposal similar to those previously rejected by the courts. In this new proposal, they suggested a $50 million bond, co-signed by Combs himself, his mother, his adult sons, and others. Additionally, they recommended home detention with GPS tracking and constant surveillance by private security personnel.
The proposal also outlined restrictions on visitors, limiting access to Combs’ legal team and immediate family members. This contrasts with his earlier proposal, where he had not specified such restrictions, allowing employees, friends, and others to visit.
In support of their request, Combs’ lawyers pointed to a similar arrangement in the sex trafficking case involving the former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO, who was granted release on a $10 million bond.
Ghanaian disc jockey DJ Vyruskyhas addressed rumours stating that he deliberately removed Kuami Eugene’s verse from his new single, Sika.
In an interview on 3FM on November 12, 2024, DJ Vyrusky, whose real name is Kofi Amoako, explained that Kuami Eugene was unavailable during the recording of the song, which is why King Paluta’s verse was used instead.
He further clarified, “There was a conversation about having Kuami Eugene on the song, but he was not available at the time, so we never actually recorded his verse. I didn’t remove anything from the song.”
DJ Vyrusky also emphasised that he and Kuami Eugene have several songs together that are yet to be released.
“But me and Kuami Eugene even have a lot of songs together, and we even have like three or four songs that we are yet to release,” he said.
“I go collect some two weddings someday, and I balance the two, and I was just running in between the events, and he (Jerry Adjorlolo) was like, Bro, just form a group of DJs and let people know that these are my boys, so when the book you now they know they are your boys. The whole idea was to be able to get more gigs,” he stated.

He recounted how, in the difficult period following the split, he felt isolated, with only his faith in God to rely on for support.
“When my marriage came to an end, I was facing a lot of issues. I went into marriage bankrupt, and I also lost my dad, I had no one to discuss my issues with except my maker.
“I paid a visit to my sister in London, when I got there, I had to move to the USA for a meeting, but I was rejected… I was facing a lot of issues so I had to come back to Ghana, So I asked for them to refund my ticket so that I could go back to Ghana, but they asked me to pay for it, that was how Obaa Yaa came into the picture,” he said.
Salinko noted how he was on a talking stage with three different women, including his current wife, Lydia Arthur.
“I was talking to three different women about possibly starting a relationship. One day, as I was going through my phone, I realised my marriage with Nancy had indeed ended, and she left without understanding what I had gone through.
He continued, “I saw my current wife’s contact and asked a friend to reach out on my behalf. Whenever I spoke to her about my feelings, I felt better. I remember planning a date with her and expressing how I felt; that’s how it all began. We were in a talking stage for a year.”
Background

Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has noted that when voted into power in the December 7 elections, he would build a second National Theatre in Kumasi.
In a video shared by GHOne TV on November 12, 2024, Mahama indicated that the Kumasi theatre is in a poor state, hence his decision to build a new one because it is part of their campaign manifesto.
“Since the Chinese built the national film theatre during the Rawlings administration, there has not been a major facelift, so you can clearly see that the place is in a poor state. Even when people want to make use of the place, the poor stature of the film theatre makes it difficult for them,” he said.
Mahama further described Kumasi as the centre of arts and culture in Ghana.
“If you look at our 2020 manifesto, we promised to build a theatre when voted into power, and we included it in our 2024 manifesto as well because Kumasi is the centre of our arts and culture in this country,” he added.

Electoral Commission of Ghana has clarified the decision to retain the image of the lateAkua Donkor on the presidential ballot paper for the 2024 presidential election.
During an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Chairperson, Jean Mensa, explained that although Akua Donkor has passed away and Philip Appiah Kubi, the replacement flagbearer for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), has been disqualified due to errors and alleged irregularities discovered in his nomination documents, the Commission has chosen not to reorder the ballot positions to avoid delays and additional costs associated with reprinting.
“We are almost 90 percent complete with the printing of presidential ballots, and you are also aware that following the passing of Madam Akua Donkor, we requested the printing houses to cease printing until the law had taken its course.
“Now that the presidential candidate has been disqualified, the Commission wants to inform you that the positions will proceed on the current ballot as it is in the interest of time and to save this country millions of cedis,” she stated.
She further indicated that the Commission would embark on an extensive public awareness campaign to sensitise the public not to vote for Akua Donkor.
“We will proceed with the name and image of Madam Akua Donkor, and we believe that a lot of discussions and advertisements will go to prevent the citizenry from voting for her,” she stated.
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana disqualified Philip Appiah Kubi, the replacement flagbearer for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), due to errors and alleged irregularities discovered in his nomination documents.

Ghana has received its first shipment of 50 electric buses as part of a government initiative led by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to bring 100 of these buses to the country by the end of the year.
The new fleet, which arrived on November 12, is intended to reduce carbon emissions, lower transport costs, and introduce cleaner energy options into the nation’s public transport system.
The electric bus plan was first announced by Dr. Bawumia in July 2024 during a meeting with the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU). According to Dr. Bawumia, the government’s push toward electric vehicles (EVs) aligns with Ghana’s climate goals and aims to reduce the high cost of transportation for citizens.
“One of the issues we are looking at as far as reducing the cost of transport in Ghana is that we go through two things: we should move towards electric vehicles, which will help the environment,” he said. Dr. Bawumia explained that this initial fleet of 100 buses is intended to demonstrate the benefits of electric vehicles to the public.
Officials from the Ministry of Transport view the new fleet as a way to introduce a more sustainable and efficient public transport option, especially in urban areas like Accra and Kumasi, where pollution levels from fuel-powered vehicles are high.
Ministry sources indicate that the buses will first be deployed in major cities to maximise their environmental impact.
The electric bus initiative also aims to motivate private transport operators to consider similar eco-friendly options. In addition, the government has outlined plans to build a nationwide network of EV charging stations, which will support the new bus fleet and contribute to the infrastructure for future electric vehicle use.
The public response has generally been positive, with many hopeful that the shift to electric buses will address long standing issues in Ghana’s public transportation system. As these buses enter regular service, they are expected to reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported fuel and could lead to lower transportation costs over time.
Bank of Ghana has suspended the Foreign Exchange Trading Licence ofConsolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) for one month, effective November 26, 2024.

GuidelinesThe other breaches include “Updated Guidelines for Inward Remittance Services for Payment Service Providers dated November 2023 and the Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism & The Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (AML/CFT&P) Guideline, for Accountable Institutions in Ghana dated December 2022, which have come to the attention of the Bank of Ghana.”
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has stated that CBG’s licence will be reinstated after the one-month suspension period, contingent on CBG implementing effective measures to ensure full compliance with foreign exchange market regulations.

AngloGold Ashanti, a leading gold mining company, has raised concerns over the Ghanaian government’s prolonged delay in approving its proposed joint venture with Gold Fields for the Tarkwa and Iduapriem mines.
The proposed partnership, announced in March 2023, aims to merge the two neighbouring mining sites to improve production, extend mine life, and enhance value for shareholders. However, nearly nine months later, the necessary government approvals remain pending.
According to a joint media statement by AngloGold and Gold Fields, constructive engagement with the government has been ongoing since March, yet the venture still awaits parliamentary approval.
The companies have pressed for ratification ahead of the October 2024 parliamentary recess, hoping to resolve the matter well in advance of Ghana’s national elections scheduled for December.
“Notwithstanding constructive engagement with the Government of Ghana since the announcement of the Proposed Joint Venture on 16 March 2023, the requisite approvals by the Government of Ghana for the Proposed Joint Venture have not yet been obtained,” AngloGold stated, adding that they are optimistic the deal would enhance the mines’ efficiency and reduce costs.
“We continue to believe that a combination of the two neighbouring mines into a single managed entity is compelling, given that it is anticipated to extend the life of the mine, increase production, and lower costs, creating value for all stakeholders,” the company affirmed.
Despite the delays, AngloGold and Gold Fields indicated they will continue to pursue improvements to their separate operations while maintaining communication with government officials. “Gold Fields and AngloGold Ashanti will maintain engagement in relation to a potential asset combination while separately continuing to pursue improvements to their respective assets,” they added, reassuring shareholders of ongoing updates.
The delays are partly attributed to recent parliamentary gridlock over legal disputes surrounding a vacant seat ruling, which led to the Speaker adjourning Parliament indefinitely. After weeks of contention, the Supreme Court overturned the ruling on November 12, potentially clearing the way for Parliament to reconvene and address pending approvals, including the mining joint venture.
At a recent West Africa Mining Security (WAMS) Conference in Accra, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Dr. Sulemanu Koney, highlighted the adverse effects of delayed ratifications on Ghana’s mining sector.
Dr. Koney stressed the need for prompt approval of mining agreements to secure investor confidence and maintain industry growth. “There is competition for capital in recent times, and if the country has been able to attract some investment through exploration, it’s only unfortunate that the impasse in Parliament is delaying the ratification of these agreements,” he remarked.
Parliament has yet to announce a date for their next sitting following the Supreme Court’s ruling yesterday. In the meantime, both AngloGold and Gold Fields await an official decision, with hopes that the joint venture’s benefits can soon be realised for Ghana’s economy and stakeholders.
“When patients present to me with complaints, one of the main areas we have to delve deeply into is spending a lot of time on the toilet,” Xue said.
Here’s what is going on when you overstay your toilet time.
Potty problems from sitting too long
Dr. Farah Monzur, an assistant professor of medicine and director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Centre at Stony Brook Medicine in New York, advises that people should limit their time on the toilet to five to ten minutes on average.
So, what’s the issue with staying longer? To understand, here’s a quick lesson in physics. While gravity keeps us firmly on Earth, it also makes it more difficult for the body to pump blood back to the heart, as explained by Dr. Xue.
When seated on a typical oval-shaped toilet, the pressure compresses the buttocks and positions the rectum lower than it would be if you were sitting on a chair or couch. This downward force increases pressure on the lower half of the body, which in turn can disrupt blood circulation.
“It becomes a one-way value where blood enters, but blood really can’t go back,” Xue said.
As a result, the veins and blood vessels surrounding the anus and lower rectum become enlarged and engorged with blood, increasing the risk of hemorrhoids.
Don’t force it either
Forced straining can also increase the pressure to allow haemorrhoids to build. People scrolling on their phones on the toilet tend to lose track of time, Monzur said, sitting and straining their muscles to get a bowel movement out.
And guess what? Your doctors can tell. “Nowadays, we’re seeing an increase in people passing more time on the toilet, and that is very much unhealthy for the anorectal organs and the pelvic floor,” Xue added.
In addition to weakened anal muscles and forced straining, Monzur said sitting on the toilet bowl for too long can also increase the risk of rectal prolapse. A rectal prolapse is when the rectum, part of the large intestine, slips down and bulges out of the anus.
The pelvic floor muscles are another type of muscle weakened from prolonged toilet sitting. Xue explained that pelvic floor muscles coordinate a significant amount of bowel movement and work with the rest of the body to ensure stool comes out smoothly. The gravitational pressure on the pelvic floor strains the muscles when constantly sitting for long periods.
Be more mindful of bathroom time
To avoid spending too much time on the porcelain throne, Dr. Lance Uradomo, an interventional gastroenterologist at City of Hope Orange County in Irvine, California, advised keeping phones, magazines and books out of the bathroom.
“You don’t want to go with the mindset that you will be there for a long time. Because then you’ll want to bring something to keep the mind occupied,” Monzur said. “Make sitting on the toilet bowl as uninteresting as possible.”
If you’re having trouble relieving yourself, Xue advised quitting after 10 minutes. Instead, walk around a bit — since the motion can stimulate gut muscles to produce a bowel movement. Xue also recommended getting hydrated and eating high-fiber foods such as oats and beans to produce regular bowel movements and avoid straining.
Need to know how much? The National Academy of Medicine recommends 2.7 to 3.7 litres of water
daily. Additionally, the US Department of Agriculture recommends 14 grams of fibre for every 1,000 calories of food. Xue said that fiber and water soften the stool, making it easier to pass.
Long bathroom times and colorectal cancer
There are situations, however, in which people have to spend an unusual amount of time on the toilet. Constant difficulty or discomfort when passing stool can be a symptom of gastrointestinal issues, such as irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn’s disease.
Worsening constipation or a need to sit on the toilet for a long time may also be a sign of cancer. “If a growth inside the colon grows big enough, it can block the flow of your stool, which can cause constipation and bleeding,” Uradomo said.
The American Cancer Society recently reported an increase in colorectal cancer rates among people under age 55 since the mid-1990s, and the nonprofit estimated there would be 106,590 new cases of colon cancer and 46,220 new cases of rectal cancer this year.
In Uradomo’s career, he’s recalled more young people talking to him about haemorrhoids and constipation and later being diagnosed with rectal cancer.
If you’ve had these symptoms of constipation or sitting on the toilet for a long time for more than three weeks, Monzur said it might be time to bring your concerns to your doctor. Depending on the severity of the symptoms, your primary care doctor can refer you to a gastroenterologist or a colorectal surgeon for a closer look.

Ghanaian comedian Kalyboshas ignited a social media debate with his unexpected answer to why he ended a five-year relationship with his ex-girlfriend to marry someone else.
In a preview from the upcoming episode of the Girls Aloud podcast, a panellist questioned Kalybos about his decision not to marry his long-time girlfriend, Frimpongmaa, even after five years together.
The question from one of the panellists was straightforward: “Before you got married, you had a girlfriend for five years, Frimpongmaa, so why didn’t you marry her?”
Kalybos explained, “Being in a relationship for a longer period doesn’t mean you have to settle with the person no matter what. When you assess yourself and something is not going the way you want, then…”
The panellist, not entirely satisfied with his answer, pressed further: “So, things weren’t going the way you wanted with Frimpongmaa?”
To which Kalybos bluntly replied, “No, it wasn’t.”
The conversation then took an unexpected turn when the panellist asked whether Kalybos married his wife because of her wealth or because she is from the diaspora.
“Did you marry your wife because she’s from the diaspora or because she has money?” she asked.
With a stern look, Kalybos responded,“Yeah, because she has money. She’s a rich woman.”
Kalybos recently marked his first wedding anniversary with his wife, sharing a heartfelt message on social media.
Premier League referee David Coote has been suspended following a viral video in which he expressed hostility and prejudice towards Liverpool and former managerJurgen Klopp.
In the video, Coote was heard using offensive language against Klopp and the Liverpool team.
Professional Game Match Officials Ltd. (PGMOL) issued a statement on Monday, November 11, confirming Coote’s suspension and announcing an ongoing investigation.
“David Coote has been suspended with immediate effect pending a full investigation. PGMOL will be making no further comment until that process is complete.”
According to UK outlet The Times, the investigation’s outcome could potentially end the career of 42-year-old referee David Coote.
The situation has prompted Liverpool fans to scrutinise his past decisions, highlighting questionable calls he made in previous games involving their team.
Coote, a FIFA-listed referee, began his professional officiating career in 2010 in England’s National League division. He was promoted to the Championship later that year, where he spent eight years before advancing to the Premier League.
In 2022, he earned his FIFA listing, and in 2023, he officiated the English Football League Cup final between Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Founder of the Centre for Alternative Politics and Security West Africa (CAPS-WA), Dr. Muhammad Dan Suleiman, has linked the insecurity surrounding elections to the failure of the country’s political system.
He argues that the persistent issues of violence and the absence of free and fair elections reflect a more profound failure in the way politics is conducted.
“All these insecurities in elections—our worries about violence, the absence of free and fair elections—I believe it is due to the failure of politics, in a broader sense,” Dr. Suleiman remarked in an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Monday, November 11.
His statements come amid heightened public anxiety over election-related violence and alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Dr. Suleiman believes that without significant reform, elections will continue to be marred by issues that prevent citizens from freely and fairly participating in the democratic process.
He therefore called and called for a rethinking of democratic practices both locally and across the region.
“The way forward is to rethink the way we do politics and the way we practice democracy in this country and the region,” he said.
According toDr. Suleiman, this shift in perspective could open new avenues for enhancing both the political landscape and national security.
Construction of essential road infrastructure and ongoing administrative projects across the country are expected to face major setbacks as workers of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) have announced an indefinite strike starting on Tuesday, November 12.
The strike comes in response to the government’s refusal to suspend the implementation of the controversial National Roads Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1118).
Central to the dispute is the demand for the removal of two high-ranking officials: Ing. I.K. Mensah, Chairman of the GHA Board, and Ing. Collins B. Donkor, CEO of the National Roads Authority (NRA).
Workers have accused these officials of being responsible for decisions that undermine the integrity of the roads sector.
This strike follows a formal petition submitted to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in which workers called for more inclusive consultations before moving forward with the new law.
Ghana Medical Association (GMA)has raised alarming concerns about the growing issues of alcohol misuse, drug abuse, and instances of sexual misconduct among some of its members.
During the GMA’s annual general meeting, Dr. Frank Serebour, the association’s president, emphasised that such behaviour jeopardises patient care, as affected medical professionals continue to work without appropriate intervention.
Dr. Serebour also revealed that the association is currently facing multiple lawsuits related to accusations of medical and professional negligence, stressing the urgent need for corrective measures to address these serious concerns.
“We have some health personnel involved in alcoholism and drug abuse, which impacts their quality of life,” he said.
Dr. Serebour also pointed out the alarming rise in sexual harassment cases involving healthcare workers, with several complaints still being investigated by the Medical and Dental Council.
Additionally, he voiced concern over the increasing number of legal actions against healthcare institutions, stressing that the outcomes of these cases often tarnish the reputation of the medical profession.
He added that; “In some cases, we are left off the hook simply because the victims of our unprofessionalism choose to blame the witches and wizards instead of taking on the system.”
He also criticisedcertain unprofessional practices like chronic lateness, absenteeism, and insufficient work hours, questioning if professionalism is diminishing in the health sector.
“Is there an overwhelming focus on greed and selfishness? Some workers arrive at 9:00 a.m. and leave by noon, expecting to be paid for a full day,” he remarked.
President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has refuted claims made by Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of theNational Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing him of engaging in partisan politics.
Speaking during a campaign visit to Odumase in the Asante Akim Central Constituency, Asiedu Nketiah alleged that Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II had compromised his neutral stance by supposedly supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Asiedu Nketiah further suggested that this involvement could undermine Nana Gyebi’s ability to mediate in the ongoing parliamentary deadlock, potentially damaging the credibility of the National House of Chiefs and affecting Ghana’s democratic integrity.
In response, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II dismissed the accusations, stating that if Nketiah has any proof of political bias on his part, he is free to pursue legal action.
“It’s never true. If it is true, he can go to court. He can go and report. The Supreme Courthas come up with guidelines for Nananom, so if the president of the National House of Chiefs is seen wearing a particular party’s paraphernalia or campaigning for a particular party, he can take me to the police or to court.
“Ask him where he saw me engaging in all those activities, where he saw me wearing the active paraphernalia. Every average Ghanaian now holds a cell phone, so when you see those things, click, you take the picture and show it to the whole world,” Ogyeahoho Gyebi II.

General Overseer of theProphetic Hill Chapel, Nigel Gaisie, has clarified that his prophecy regarding Kamala Harris becoming President of the United States refers to a future election and not the 2024 race.
In an interview with UTV, Prophet Gaisie explained that while God showed him a vision of a woman named Harris who would lead the world, he never specified that it pertained to the 2024 election.
“In March or April, I was in Florida engaged in service when God revealed to me that a woman named Harris would lead the world. To be clear, God did not use me to predict that Harris would win the 2024 elections; what he showed me was a woman in a position of leadership on a global scale.”
“Harris is still alive and not dead, so let’s wait and see what happens in her life. This prophecy was not about the 2024 election. I had already said that Trump would make a comeback, and that has happened. Now, let’s see what happens in the life of Kamala Harris,” he said.
He continued, “On November 12, 2020, afterTrump lostthe elections, I prophesied in my church that he would make a comeback. The videos of that prophecy are available, and they can be found on my Facebook page.”
He concluded, “We should give time to the prophecy the Lord has given. It will surely come to pass, and that does not make me a false prophet.”
NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central,Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has been given the green light to participate in the upcoming December elections.
This decision follows a ruling by the Sekondi High Court on November 11, 2024, which lifted a prior injunction that had barred her from running as the chosen candidate.
The court had previously postponed the case after the National Democratic Congress requested that the injunction be lifted and the disqualification dismissed.
After the ruling, Joana Gyan and her supporters celebrated the decision. Addressing the jubilant crowd, she expressed gratitude, saying, “We thank God for everything that has happened today, especially my new lawyers who came in to rescue me.. I thank God and all the NDC members, executives, and all the Western Region NDC. I must say I am very happy.”
The legal dispute began when dissatisfied parties filed a lawsuit, obtaining an interlocutory injunction that temporarily barred Joana Gyan from presenting herself as the NDC candidate, despite her decisive win in the parliamentary primaries on May 13, 2023.
In response, the NDC’s Functional Executive Committee annulled the May election and held new primaries on September 8, 2024, where Joana Gyan Cudjoe once again emerged victorious, with the Electoral Commission overseeing the process.
The NDC argued that the September election replaced the earlier one, thereby confirming Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s rightful candidacy.
Nevertheless, the EC disqualified her, citing the interlocutory injunction linked to the annulled May 2023 election.

Ghanaian Kumawood actor Abraham Kofi Davis, widely known as Salinko, tied the knot with his new wife, Lydia Arthur, on November 9, 2024, in an intimate ceremony.
A video circulating on social media captured Salinko, whose previous marriage to Nancy Owusu ended two years ago, walking down the aisle with his new bride.
The wedding took place at Ascension Methodist Church in Haatso, Accra, and was attended by several notable figures from the Kumawood industry.
Among the guests were Matilda Asare, Don Little, Big Akwes, and others who came to support their colleague.
Popular gospel artist Piesie Esther also graced the occasion, delivering a powerful performance that energised the gathering.
Salinko and Lydia were later seen dancing joyfully to one of Piesie Esther’s hit songs, celebrating the joyous start of their new life together.
Salinko’s ex-wife remarries
About three months ago, Salinko’s former wife, Nancy Owusu, remarried just a year after her divorce from the Kumawood actor.
In widely shared videos online, Nancy and her new husband are seen smiling in their vibrant wedding attire.
News of Salinko and Nancy’s divorce first broke in May 2023, quickly going viral on social media.
In an interview with Poleeno Multimedia, Salinko shared that his ex-wife ended the marriage, explaining that she was “fed up,” which ultimately led to their separation.
As Ghana gears up for their vital Africa Cup of Nationsqualifiers against Angola and Niger, the Black Stars have encountered a setback, with eight players withdrawing from the squad due to injuries and personal issues.
Among those ruled out is forward Inaki Williams, who sustained a hamstring injury on November 7 and has not resumed training.
Tariq Lamptey is also sidelined, dealing with persistent calf discomfort that intensified last week, requiring continuous rehabilitation with his club.
Jonas Adjetey, close to a full recovery, suffered a relapse during his league game on Saturday, November 9, preventing his participation in the qualifiers.
Jerome Opoku is struggling with chronic back pain that flared up in a Super Lig match against Besiktas on Sunday, November 10. He is currently receiving treatment from his club’s medical staff.
Antoine Semenyo, meanwhile, is coping with a patellar tendon injury, likely from his demanding game schedule.
His club’s medical team has advised him to consult a tendon specialist during the break to prevent further complications.
Similarly, Alexander Djiku aggravated an existing hamstring issue, forcing an early substitution in his last game on November 10.
Ibrahim Osman rounds out the injury list after a recent hamstring injury led to his substitution at halftime in his latest club appearance.
Meanwhile, Joseph Painstil has withdrawn from the squad due to personal reasons.
These unforeseen absences will challenge Coach Otto Addo’s plans for the qualifiers as the team looks to overcome Angola and Niger and boost their chances of qualifying for Morocco 2025.
Entertainment pundit andshow host Sally Mann has revealed that she, along with other media figures in Ghana, had devised a plan to undermine the career of dancehall artist Shatta Wale.
In an appearance on Adom TV on November 10, 2024, Sally explained that their main goal was to elevate Stonebwoy and support his path to winning a Grammy, deliberately sidelining Shatta Wale in the process.
She further claimed that their actions were driven by what she described as Shatta Wale’s lack of respect toward media personalities in the country.
“We held caucus meetings to push Stonebwoy towards winning a Grammy. The agenda was clear: we are supporting you (Stonebwoy) because Shatta Wale doesn’t respect traditional media. But now, you (Stonebwoy) are deviating from the plan by responding to Shatta Wale. How dare you respond to him?” she said.
“The agenda was to take you to the Grammys, and as for him (Shatta Wale), his career is over. He is now a pensioner. Look at how well you’ve done over the past three years, even with your 5th Dimension album. But now you’re making things difficult for us. Don’t be a puppet for Shatta Wale,” she added.
Sally also raised concerns about Stonebwoy’s habit of responding to matters that could be left ignored.
She warned that his frequent comments, particularly his statement that the Jejereje remix with Skrewfaze isn’t ideal, could damage his brand and hinder some opportunities.
“As a sensible person, you should know that your fans alone can’t get you a Grammy. If Skrewfaze jumps on a track, he can bring his fans into the mix too. You talk too much; PR work isn’t for everyone. Stop trying to do the job of a PR person. That’s why you have someone in charge to handle that for you,” she advised.
Sally Mann’scomments follow recent remarks from Stonebwoy, who stated that a remix of his new song Jejereje with hip-hop artist Skrewfaze would not be commercially advantageous for him.
The BHIM Nation president has recently faced backlash, with some accusing him of making unnecessary comments and excessively promoting himself during international interviews.
In a recent interview on the streets of London, Stonebwoy claimed that some Ghanaians often mistake him for a foreigner, especially a Jamaican.
He also drew criticism after estimating the value of his “expensive” outfit, noting that he purchased it from the same stores frequented by artists like Burna Boy and Wizkid.
A Turkish courthas sentenced former Ankaragucu president Faruk Koca to over three and a half years in prison for assaulting a referee during a match last season.
The incident occurred after a 1-1 draw between Ankaragucu and Caykur Rizespor in the Super Lig, when Koca punched referee Halil Umut Meler in the face following the final whistle.
Meler, who fell to the ground, was also kicked in the ensuing chaos, which erupted as fans stormed the pitch after Rizespor’s last-minute equalizer on December 11, 2023.
The attack sparked international outrage and led the Turkish Football Federation to suspend all league matches for several weeks in response.
The Ankara court found Koca guilty of “intentionally wounding a public official” and sentenced him to three years and seven months in prison. Additionally, Koca was convicted of threatening the referee and breaching laws designed to prevent violence in sports, though his sentences for these charges were suspended.
Three other individuals involved in the attack were handed prison sentences ranging from one to five years. Koca, who resigned from his position as president shortly after the incident, is expected to appeal the ruling. He had been briefly incarcerated last year before being released on bail.
Earlier, lawyers representing the defendants requested their acquittal, claiming that they had committed the crime under “unjust provocation,” Anadolu reported.
Ankaragucu was fined 2 million Turkish Lira ($59,000) and forced to play five home games without fans.
