Electoral Commission (EC)has asked the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) to nominate a new presidential candidate within 10 days, following the recent passing of their flagbearer, Madam Akua Donkor.
In response to this development, the EC has also paused the printing of presidential ballot papers, which were close to completion. This suspension comes after receiving official confirmation of Madam Akua Donkor’s death.
In a statement issued on October 29, the EC said, “The Commission has since informed the GFP to make arrangements to nominate a new Candidate and inform the Commission accordingly. In the meantime, the Commission has suspended the printing of Presidential Ballot papers, which was near completion.”
The Electoral Commission expressed its deep condolences to the family of Madam Akua Donkor, who passed away recently at Ridge Hospital in Accra. Her cause of death has not been disclosed.
Akua Donkor, founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), was a significant figure in Ghanaian politics, widely respected for her dedicated advocacy for farmers and women’s rights. Her death is a considerable loss for her party and her supporters, especially with the December 7, 2024, elections approaching.
With the election date nearing, the GFP is now expected to move quickly in selecting a new candidate to fill her place on the ballot.
Former President John Mahama has challenged President Akufo-Addo to consider resigning over the Ghana cedi’s sharp depreciation.
Speaking at a rally in Lugni, Wulensi constituency, in the Northern region, Mahama reminded the public that Akufo-Addo, as a candidate, once suggested that the late President John Evans Atta Mills should resign when the cedi was trading at GH2 to the dollar.
Now, with the cedi nearing GH¢17 to the dollar, Mahama questioned whether Akufo-Addo would follow his own advice and step down under the current economic circumstances.
“He’s on video, and he said that Kufour’s time, Gh¢1 [equals] one dollar, Mahama and Mills time, two cedis, one dollar, and that if he were Mills and Mahama, he would resign. I’m asking him, today one dollar, 17 cedis, would he resign?” he quizzed.
The NDC flagbearer asked the president to “tell the people of Ghana when he’s going to resign.”.
Mr Mahama appealed to the Independent Parliamentary Candidate for the area, Stanley, who broke away from the party, to put his ambitions aside and rejoin the NDC.
He said that breaking away was only going to affect his political career because the NDC was going to win massively in the Parliamentary and presidential elections.
Speaking at Bimbilla in the Nanumba North Municipality, former President Mahama opined that members of the international community have been asking questions about Ghana’s ‘deteriorating’ democracy.
“Anywhere I go, the question people outside in the world ask me is, ‘Ghana, what happened to you?’” he claimed.
Mr Mahama said Ghana was not only a model of democracy but also a model of economic management but was quick to note that the country’s democracy and economy were in shambles.
He said, “Everybody looked up to Ghana as the model of democracy; today, we’re a quack model of democracy. Our judiciary is not independent; all our state institutions have been destroyed. People looked up to Ghana as a country that was a model of economic management; today our economy is in shambles.”
Mr Mahama was later at Ngani in the Yendi constituency on Tuesday evening,, where he addressed a mammoth rally.
Former UN Governance Advisor Prof. Baffour Agyeman-Duah has raised concerns about the lingering effects of former Electoral Commission (EC)Chairperson Charlotte Osei’sdismissal, describing it as a decision that continues to shape the public’s perception of the Commission.
Speaking on Joy News’ PM Express program on Tuesday, Agyeman-Duah remarked that this action set a challenging precedent for the institution’s credibility and has contributed to a persistent lack of public trust.
His comments coincide with fresh concerns about the EC’s transparency following recent Afrobarometer findings, which show a sharp drop in trust ahead of the 2024 elections.
With just 40 days until the December 7 vote, the survey revealed that only 28% of Ghanaians now trust the EC, down from a 59% confidence rate recorded in 2012. Last year, trust stood at 33%, but this figure has further declined in 2023.
The Afrobarometer report also indicates a growing perception of corruption within the EC, which has cemented its position as one of the least trusted public institutions in Ghana.
This development is a cause of concern for Prof. Agyeman-Duah.
Recalling the 2016 election campaign, Prof. Agyeman-Duah stated, “The opposition then said that if they won the elections, they were going to displace her. Truly, the President came in, and within three years, that came to pass.”
He reflected on the simplicity of the removal process: “A single individual wrote the petition to the President, who simply acted as a conveyor, sending it to the Chief Justice, who then made the decision.”
This swift removal, he argued, was unusual and tainted the public’s view of the EC’s independence.
For Prof. Agyeman-Duah, the incident fostered a narrative that the EC could be influenced by political interests.
Current EC officials, he added, “are in a tough position because of the circumstances under which they were appointed, which created doubt about their credibility.”
The move, he argues, sustained and emboldened opposition criticism, creating a cycle of mistrust that remains an obstacle for the EC.
Victor Osimhen has made a remarkable impact in the Turkish league, leaving many fans and rival stakeholders uneasy. The Nigerian striker, who recently transferred to Galatasaray after a protracted and contentious saga with Napoli, has quickly established himself as a key player for the Yellow and Reds.
Initially, Osimhen took some time to net his first goal for Galatasaray, but he has since found his rhythm and is on a scoring spree for the Istanbul club. His latest display of talent was highlighted in a recent league match against Besiktas, where he scored an impressive goal.
Following this standout performance in the derby, former Turkish striker Batuhan Karadeniz has controversially called for Osimhen to be banned, suggesting that his presence has rendered Galatasaray nearly unbeatable. In remarks shared by SuperHaber, Karadeniz expressed his concerns about Osimhen’s impact on the team’s success.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqIcT4p_3Q4
“Since the day he arrived, I have never seen a player like Osimhen. He plays with such intensity—chasing down defenders, darting left and right, with unrelenting energy. Well done to him!”
He continued, “Many world-class players come to leagues like ours, and watching them alone can be exhausting. But Osimhen is truly worth every penny they pay him. He’s everywhere—whether it’s his own penalty box or pressing in the opponent’s.
He kicks the ball in every possible position. This isn’t fair; he’s making it an unfair competition! Ban him from the Super League!” Karadeniz further emphasised,
“What kind of player is this? I’ve never seen anything like it. Whoever brought him here, send him back! Osimhen has become a scourge for the Super League!”
Karadeniz’s frustration is understandable, as Galatasaray remains undefeated since Osimhen’s arrivaland currently holds a five-point lead atop the league table, according to data courtesy of Fotmob.

Akua Donkor passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024, with her family confirming the news the following day, which left many netizens in disbelief.
A prominent concern among users on X is that Akua Donkor died without having forgiven Delay or lifting the curses she had directed at her. This has sparked discussions about the implications for Delay, who did not have the opportunity to seek reconciliation with the late flagbearer of the Freedom Party.
Some commentators have speculated that the two may have reconciled their differences prior to Akua Donkor’s death.
Background
In a recent interview on Agyenkwa FM, Akua Donkor shared a troubling encounter she had with Deloris Frimpong Manso, widely known as ‘Delay.’
During the discussion, she described feeling humiliated after her appearance on The Delay Show, an experience that prompted her to place a curse on Delay.
Akua Donkor claimed that Delay treated her with disrespect, hurling insults and using derogatory language towards her.
She recalled, “I cursed her after the show, saying that if she hasn’t given birth before, she will never give birth. Also, she will never find a better man to marry in this life until she dies. You left your mother to come and call me a mad woman?
“Yes! I told her that! If I drove all the way from Kumasi to be humiliated like this, and you have already called me a witch and now a mad woman, then I am leaving. But I told her that she would not find a better man to marry, let alone have kids in this life! And then I stood up and left…”
Akua Donkorwas a significant and vocal figure in Ghanaian politics, recognised for her dedication to advocating for the rights of farmers and women.
As the founder of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), she frequently drew public interest through her assertive efforts to highlight the concerns of grassroots communities.

Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudusis currently awaiting a tribunal’s verdict regarding a potential six-match suspension following his recent red card during a match against Tottenham.
The West Ham striker had a heated encounter that resulted in his dismissal after a confrontation with several Spurs players, including Mickey van de Ven, which led to multiple on-field disputes.
Initially cautioned with a yellow card, Kudus’s punishment was escalated to a red after a VAR review, resulting in his absence from West Ham’s surprising 2-1 victory over Manchester United.
Kudus was initially handed a three-match suspension, but former referee Mike Dean suggested that he could face an extended ban of up to six games.
The FA later charged Kudus with an additional offence of “improper conduct” during the incident, a decision West Ham is contesting.
The club is eager to resolve this issue before their next match against Nottingham Forest. They plan to submit evidence, including the circumstances that provoked Kudus during the altercation, to bolster their appeal.
If Kudus’s suspension is prolonged, he would also miss upcoming fixtures against Newcastle, Arsenal, and Leicester after the November 2024 international break, potentially keeping him out until the home game against Wolves on December 9, 2024.
Manager Julen Lopetegui, who has had previous disagreements with Kudus, stated that the player must learn to manage his emotions on the pitch.
In contrast, formerWest Ham coach Kevin Nolandefended Kudus, suggesting that he is often misunderstood and contributes a vital intensity to the team.
Both the club and its supporters are eagerly anticipating the FA’s final ruling on the appeal.

The outcome has spurred debate, marking this as one of the Ballon d’Or’s most contentious years.

Lead convenor of #FixTheCountry, Oliver Barker-Vormawor,has shared an audio recording of a conversation with an individual claiming to be a minister of state who suggested arranging a meeting with the Minister for Finance.
This release follows Barker-Vormawor’s earlier declaration that he would provide evidence of an alleged attempt by the Minister for National Security to offer him incentives, including a $1 million bribe, to cease his activism.
In the eight-minute recording, Barker-Vormawor emphasised the importance of dialogue between the government and the #FixTheCountry movement regarding pressing national issues.
While the Cambridge-Africa PhD student acknowledged the necessity for such engagement, he highlighted the importance of structuring the discussion to maintain public trust in the pressure group. He also mentioned his need to travel to Ghana for the proposed meeting.
In reply, the minister assured him of his safety upon his arrival in Ghana and offered to assist with his travel arrangements.
“You can have my word for it; your friend the General can also be a witness. There is no way the security agencies will do anything to you if you come to Ghana at all. You can be rest assured, that will never be our intention. I will never do that. Number two, quietly between the two of us, I should not have any difficulty facilitating your trip in terms of logistics for you to be able to come down and we can start talking.
Probably the two of us can talk. I will want my colleague the Minister of Finance alone to join me and some of your colleagues to join you. When we get to a point where we think we should go public or enlarge it, then we take it from there,” the minister said.
Barker-Vormawor declined the minister’s offer to facilitate his travel arrangements.

The minister then suggested that the meeting take place at a secure location, while Barker-Vormawor recommended involving General Kutin from the Ghana Armed Forces, who was also on the call, as a mediator between both parties.
In response to allegations that he had been bribed by Minister for National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah, the ministry issued a statement refuting the claims.
However, the ministry acknowledged that a meeting did occur in 2021 between the Minister for National Security, the Minister for Finance, and activists from #FixTheCountry.
Despite this, Barker-Vormaworinsisted that he had previously met with the Minister for National Security, during which the minister offered him a bribe.
“A secret meeting was held between myself and the Minister for National Security at a safe house, and he did request that I meet him, and I have a recording to confirm this. And it is at that individual meeting that he made the offer of $1 million to stop the activism. And I want to be clear, this was before even the very first FixTheCountry demonstration, not for OccupyJulorbiHouse.
I think there’s a bit of confusion in the public as well. In the very beginning, the National Security Minister had told me personally that they were worried about terrorism, and they’re worried that my activism would mobilise young people,” he told Joynews in an interview in September 2023.
Additionally, the convenor disclosed that the minister had told him on behalf of the government that he was willing to offer him an appointment if that was what he desired in order to put an end to his activism.
Ghana cedi is anticipated to face sustained pressure this week due to high foreign exchange demand, despite the country’s progress with the IMF’s Economic Credit Facility program.
Last week, the cedi continued its decline against key currencies, driven by increased foreign and domestic demand. To help balance demand, the Bank of Ghana accepted US$89.3 million in bids during its 7-day foreign exchange auction.
However, this measure proved insufficient, with the cedi depreciating by 1.06% over the week, closing at GH¢16.55 per US dollar.
The currency also fell 0.23% against the pound and 0.28% against the euro within the same period.
As of Monday, the cedi had slid to GH¢16.65 against the dollar, marking a slight week-on-week decline. Since the start of the year, the cedi has depreciated by over 26% against the dollar, ranking it among the three weakest-performing currencies in Sub-Saharan Africa.
To further support demand, the Bank of Ghana plans to auction an additional US$20 million for Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs) this week.
Although this intervention may ease some demand pressures, analysts anticipate the cedi will continue to experience strain as foreign exchange demandremains elevated.
Manchester City’s Rodri has been awarded the prestigious Ballon d’Or at a star-studded event in Paris, outpacing Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. to claim the honour.
Rodri becomes the first midfielder to win the Ballon d’Or since Luka Modric in 2018. In the years following Modric’s victory, Lionel Messi won three of the awards, while Karim Benzema secured one.
Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski was widely expected to win the trophy in 2020, but that year’s award was cancelled.
Rodri’s achievement also marks the first time a Premier League player has won the Ballon d’Or since Cristiano Ronaldo did so in 2008 while playing for Manchester United.
Currently sidelined with an ACL injury, Rodri has been ruled out for the remainder of the season—a setback that has visibly impacted City’s defense, which has managed only two clean sheets this season, one of them in his absence.
While he focuses on his recovery, Rodri’s contributions over the past year have been duly celebrated. City will face Tottenham in the Carabao Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday without him.
Former Majority Leader and current Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has urged Parliament’s leadership to initiate meaningful discussions with the Speaker to resolve the ongoing impasse that has stalled parliamentary activities.
With the December 7 general elections approaching, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu emphasised the critical need for unity and functionality within Parliament, warning that unresolved issues could adversely affect the electoral process.
He highlighted that open communication and collaboration are essential to addressing the tensions that have arisen since Speaker Alban Bagbin’s recent decision on October 17 to declare four parliamentary seats vacant, a move that led to Parliament’s indefinite adjournment and raised concerns about potential consequences if left unaddressed.
He further cautioned that an ongoing stalemate in Parliament could disrupt essential legal and procedural frameworks necessary for a smooth election cycle.
The Suame MP pointed out that theElectoral Commissionstill needs to present a Constitutional Instrument (CI) to Parliament, which has not yet been submitted.
He explained that this CI will define the legal framework for conducting the December 7 elections. Without it, he warned, the process would be incomplete, potentially complicating electoral procedures and jeopardizing the timeline.
Speaking to the media on Monday, October 28, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu noted, “Maybe we need to engage because elections should be held. And if elections must be held, every time that the presidential and general elections are going to be held, the Electoral Commission, for instance, will bring a CI to regulate the elections.
“What happens if they have not brought it? What happens to the conduct of elections? We need a vote on account for the next succeeding financial year, and that has not been done. I think we need to have Parliament recalled to deal with this.”

“Note: Schools Selected on theSelf-Placement Portal can be changed as many times as the candidate wishes until they ENROL in a school.
“To access the placement platform, students are to follow the steps below: log on to the site www.cssps.gov.gh or www.cssps.org. Enter the ten-digit index number and add 24 as the year of completion. E.g., 123456789024,” the statement added.
The GFP General Secretary, George Afful, said he received a call on Monday about Madam Donkor’s ill health but thought it was stress.
He was, however, silent on the exact sickness the deceased complained of.
“I travelled to Nsuta and Mampong for party activities on Friday, and she even asked me not to stay long so I could return to monitor the printing of the ballot. So I came back on Monday afternoon,” he said.
She was rushed to Ridge Hospital, and around 9 pm, Mr Afful disclosed Akua Donkor’s daughter, and Mary called again to announce her death.
“We have a lot of inside jokes and songs we sing. So I rushed to the hospital with the hope that I could sing for her, but all my attempts proved futile because she was not responsive. It was a difficult time for the family,” he said on Adom FM.
Mr Afful notedthe family in Accra will return to Ridge Hospital on Tuesday morning with other relatives expected to come from Kumasi.
He also revealed Akua Donkor is survived by her daughter, Mary, and acknowledged her death is indeed a big blow to Ghana.

Akua Donkor’s presidential journey began with her election as Assemblywoman for Herman and her initial attempt to run independently in the 2012 elections. Disqualified for failing to meet electoral requirements, she subsequently supported Papa Kwesi Nduom of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).
In 2016, another setback occurred when fire damaged GFP’s headquarters, leading to her disqualification once again. Most recently, she had secured a spot as the third candidate on the ballot for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
Her passing bringsan end to a remarkable chapter in Ghana’s political history, closing a legacy defined by boldness and unwavering dedication to grassroots advocacy.
Activist and convener of Democracy Hub, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has left Ghanaians in suspense by announcing his intention to release an alleged recorded audiotape of a conversation he had with a specific minister.
This minister invited him to return to Ghana from London for meetings with both himself and the Finance Minister.
The lead member of the #FixTheCountry social movement revealed this in a tweet shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, October 28, 2024.
According to him, the said minister assured him of his safety upon his trip to Ghana if he agreed.
“Sounds like a good time to drop an audio when some Minister be offered to fly me down to Ghana from London for meetings with him and the Finance Minister. As an added bonus, he said nothing will happen to me, if I come to Ghana. What say you? 5pm?” he said.

Today’s announcement of another audio recording is not the first instance in which he has indicated having recorded discussions with ministers.
Oliver Barker-Vormawor has previously addressed the existence of recorded conversations involving government ministers.
In September 2023, he asserted that he possessed a recording of a meeting with the Minister of National Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, during which he claimed a $1 million bribe was offered to him in exchange for stopping his activism.
He promised to release this audio to unveil the alleged bribery attempt.
In response to this, the Ministry of National Security issued a statement refuting the allegations made by Oliver Barker-Vormawor.
While they confirmed that meetings took place with the #FixTheCountry conveners, they categorically denied any claims of monetary offers or promises of appointments to cease their activism.
In response to these claims, Kan-Dapaah has initiated a defamation lawsuit against Barker-Vormawor, seeking damages amounting to GH₵10 million.
The High Court has grantedBarker-Vormawor a two-week period to respond to the lawsuit.

While acknowledging his lack of formal experience in the police service, Bukom Banku asserted his capability to contribute to national security efforts and pledged to help maintain peace across Ghana if appointed.
“The prophets have been making varying prophecies concerning which candidate would win the 2024 general elections. For me, I know Mahama will be the victor. I pray he wins so that he can give me the IGP position.
“The role does not need much paperwork. The ultimate objective is to ensure there is peace in the country. There will be no noise in the country, and there will be orderliness.
The fact that I have not been to the police does not mean I am not qualified for the role,” he said in Twi during an interview with Asempa FM.
As the December 7, 2024, general elections approach, Bukom Bankuhas been actively supporting John Mahama’s campaign for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He continues to express strong optimism for an NDC victory in the upcoming elections.
Radio presenter Ohemaa Woyeje has encouraged her colleague, Deloris Frimpong Manso, known as Delay, to adopt a friendlier approach in her interviews.
This advice follows recent backlash against Delay for her reportedly harsh comments towards Madam Akua Donkor, leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP).
Ohemaa noted that many media figures build personas that set specific expectations for their guests.
Nonetheless, she criticized Delay’s handling of the interview and the negative remarks directed at Akua Donkor, calling for a more respectful tone, regardless of on-air style or personality.
“Delay should try to be more humane, especially since this woman is old enough to be her mother. From the video I saw, it was clear that Akua Donkor was upset, and that reaction was understandable. I believe that Delay’s approach was unfair, but I also don’t support the curses that were cast against her,” she stated in an interview on Kingdom FM.
The discussion gained traction after an old video resurfaced, showcasing Delay’s harsh tone and choice of words directed at Madam Akua Donkor on the ‘Delay Show.’
In response to the video’s circulation, Akua Donkor revealed in a recent interview that she has cursed Delay and has no intention of revoking those curses.
She expressed her ongoing bitterness over the situation, especially given that Delay has not shown any signs of remorse.
Reports suggest that Sean “Diddy” Combs had a strong interest in inviting young Princes William and Harry to his gatherings during their early adulthood.
Former publicist Rob Shuter, who worked with Diddy from 2002 to 2004, revealed that Diddy was fascinated with the British royal family and often sent party invitations to William and Harry, then around 20 and 18 years old.
Despite his persistence, the young royals consistently declined the offers to attend these star-studded events. According to Shuter’s statements to BBC News, Diddy was especially determined to have William and Harry as part of his social scene at the time.
“He thought of himself as a king, so it makes perfect sense that he would like to have two princes in his entourage,” Shuter told the outlet, claiming Diddy also had “framed pictures” of the brothers in his New York apartment at the time.
While William and Harry didn’t accept Diddy’s invites, the trio did get together in 2007 when Diddy performed at the Concert For Princess Diana tribute show at London’s Wembley Stadium.
The princes were later snapped at the after-party having some drinks with rapper Kanye West.
However, by 2011, it appears Diddy was no longer enamoured with William and Harry.
In a resurfaced interview from The Graham Norton Show, Diddy admitted he wanted to party with the pair when they were “young bucks” but wasn’t really vibing them as adults.
“Not anymore,” Diddy clarified. “Trust me, they’re off the list.”
“Before, when they were young bucks growing up and they were getting in a lot of trouble themselves, so, hey, I was like, ‘Why don’t you come hang out with me?’”
Diddy later reflected on his invitations to the young royals, referring to Prince Harry’s well-known party nights, including some infamous trips to Las Vegas. Almost two decades later, Diddy finds himself facing severe legal troubles, including charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and other allegations.
Although he pleaded not guilty, he was denied bail and remains in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center while awaiting his trial in May.
Rob Shuter, Diddy’s former publicist, recalled being asked multiple times to contact William and Harry, assuring them that all travel, security, and accommodations from the UK would be fully covered if they accepted the invitations to his events. Despite Diddy’s repeated attempts, the brothers consistently turned down the offers.
“[They] never accepted [the invites]; they were never part of his world,” Shuter said.
Erik ten Hag has been denied a contract extension at Old Trafford, seeing to his exit, following a disappointing start to the season.
The announcement was made on Monday, and former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who previously served as Ten Hag’s assistant, will step in as interim manager immediately.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future,” a club statement said.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”
Manchester United has managed to secure only three victories in their first nine league matches this campaign, including a late 2-1 loss to West Ham on Sunday. Ten Hag’s performance has not met the expectations of the club’s new ownership.
The Dutchman faced considerable pressure last season when Manchester United finished in a record-low 8th place in the Premier League. However, he ended the season on a high note by defeating Manchester City to secure the FA Cup at Wembley.
Despite exploring options for potential replacements during the summer, Ten Hag was awarded a one-year contract extension and received support in the transfer window.
Unfortunately, the team’s results and performances failed to improve. Following a loss to West Ham, United now sits in 14th place in the table, adding to earlier disappointing home defeats against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur this season. While winning the FA Cup final provided him with some reprieve, Ten Hag has ultimately been dismissed after two and a half years at the helm.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined Ten Hag’s coaching staff at the beginning of the season, will take charge, with his first match set for Wednesday night against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.
United’s revampedfootball operations department, which had previously supported Ten Hag over the summer, concluded that the team’s performance was unlikely to improve under his leadership. In nine league matches this season, United has scored only eight goals, making it the third lowest in the Premier League, while the club currently ranks 14th in the table.
In a recent interview with blogger Zionfelix, Queenlet addressed a contractual disagreement involving veteran gospel artist Esther Smith and Debrich Consultancy.
Queenlet stated that the issue arose when Esther was accused of violating a 2020 contract with Jeremy from Debrich Consultancy, whom she had recommended for social media services.
She also revealed her long-standing friendship with Esther, having known her for eight years, and mentioned that she encouraged Esther’s return to the music scene.
According to Esther Smith’s team, after the contract was signed, Jeremy, who is Queenlet’s husband, allegedly leveraged the agreement and Esther’s brand to promote Queenlet’s own work.
They further claimed that he redirected Esther’s official website (esthersmith.org) to various other domains, providing video evidence to back their claims.
When approached about the situation, Jeremy reportedly asserted that he had legal ownership of the website and copyright over Esther’s music, which led to Ankobeahene Records, Esther’s original producer, becoming involved. This situation ultimately resulted in the termination of the contract in March 2021.
To resolve the matter, Ankobeahene and Esther’s management proposed a settlement to Jeremy, contingent on him returning the website and not using Esther’s brand for profit. However, Esther’s team alleged that these terms were not fulfilled, claiming the website is currently being offered for sale online at a significant price.
Additionally, they accused Jeremy of using a platform called “Music Diffusion” to distribute Esther’s music without her permission, stating that she has not received any earnings from these distributions.
Further allegations regarding Jeremy’s conduct have emerged. Sources indicate that his alleged practices of exploiting the work and brands of others are well-known in the creative arts community, affecting several notable Ghanaian and other African musicians.
Reports also suggest he is wanted in Cameroon for allegedly defrauding over 20 gospel musicians.
Esther’s management has cautioned musicians and the public to be wary of individuals presenting themselves as investors or consultants to avoid potential exploitation.
At the album’s release party on October 23, Stonebwoy, who is the current TGMA Artiste of the Year, noted that prioritising an award over his fans’ satisfaction would be a “great disservice.”
He clarified that while a Grammy nomination and win would be welcomed, it was not the driving force behind the album’s creation.
“Really and truly God knows my heart…If it does happen to qualify and win, it will be part of the things that will speed up my art and craft but then it is not my sole intention that I am creating this album for the Grammys else if it doesn’t win then I think that I will be doing a lot of disservice to the people who are beyond award schemes; the fans, the loved ones and those who relate to the music for their personal life.
“I do not really do music targeting an award scheme. It is good when you qualify, etc but I don’t think it makes sense to think that I am doing this particular album for the Grammys.
“If it does qualify for all the features that I have done, of course we must receive it because it’s worth it,” Stonebwoy said.
Despite his successful career, Stonebwoy, whose real name is Livingstone Etsa Satekla, remains one of Ghana’s leading musicians without a Grammy nomination to his name.
The only Ghanaian artist to have received multiple Grammy nominations is reggae musician Ricky Dawuni. However, after four attempts, he has yet to secure aGrammy Award.
Ghanaian actress Nadia Buarihas disclosed that kissing scenes in films are not genuine; rather, they are staged performances designed to portray realistic romantic moments.
In a recent interview with TV3, the “Beyoncé” actress elaborated that the goal of actors is to make these scenes appear believable to the audience, emphasising that they do not involve real emotions.
Nadia made a clear distinction between the feelings of the characters and those of the actors themselves, explaining that these scenes are crafted solely to enhance the characters’ narratives and do not reflect the actors’ actual sentiments.
“They are not real. It is make-believe. However, we are trying to convince people, so we were really kissing, but it is just that it is real for the characters, not for the actors. There are no feelings involved,” she stated.
Nadia Buari emphasised the importance of separating emotions from kissing scenes, which are often filmed in front of large crews.
She considers both kissing scenes and character portrayal to be the most challenging parts of her acting career.
After a break from the screen, Nadia is back and offering her perspective on the difficulties of acting in films.
To mark her return, she will star in “Forever in a Night,” produced by John N. Okwugo and directed by Jameel Buari. The film is set to premiere on November 9, 2024, at both Accra Mall and West Hills Mall in Accra.
Ghana Police Service, along with the Ghana Armed Forces, has pledged to restore peace andstability in Bawku, its surrounding regions, and along the Bolgatanga-Walewale-Tamale highway.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the security agencies announced the deployment of joint police and military teams to address the escalating security concerns and ensure the safety of the public.
The statement highlighted that a focused security presence in Bawku and its neighbouring areas is being reinforced with additional forces along the key highway connecting Bolgatanga to Tamale.
This deployment aims not only to uphold security but also to facilitate smoother vehicular movement and manage traffic in the area.
Both the police and military emphasised their dedication to maintaining peace, law, and order, assuring residents and travellers that their ongoing efforts are aimed at safeguarding lives and property.
This latest intervention reflects the agencies’ continuous monitoring and response strategy to manage unrest and safeguard public confidence in Ghana’s northern region.
Erik ten Hag has criticisedthe “process” that led to the contentious decision granting West Ham a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at the London Stadium on Sunday.
United believed they had secured a point in East London until Video Assistant Referee (VAR) Michael Oliver suggested an on-field review for a penalty after a collision between Matthijs de Ligt and Danny Ings as the match approached its conclusion.
Although the contact between the two players seemed minimal, referee David Coote concurred with the VAR’s suggestion and awarded the penalty, which Bowen calmly converted, further exacerbating United’s struggles.
“So first of all, in football it is not always the best team winning, and today there was clear and obvious and clear and obvious wasn’t how the VAR worked,” Ten Hag said.
“How they worked, how they run their process. And before the season they explained the process of the VAR and only when it’s clear and obvious then they should interfere. So what they didn’t do against Spurs where they should have done it to interfere with the red card of Bruno [Fernandes]. There was a wrong decision and now they make again a wrong decision interfering and both has big impact on the scores of the games.”
Asked whether he felt Coote was more influenced in this case by Oliver’s standing as a more senior referee, Ten Hag said: “I don’t criticise any personnel, but I criticise the process and…
The off-field was obviously, the VAR was Michael Oliver but also the on-field — you have to make a decision in the final moment. And he did I think three minutes to decide and to make this call. But then you have to show big personality to recall this decision.”
The defeat sees United slip down to 14th in the table after they were leapfrogged by West Ham. Ten Hag’s team have won just three of their first nine Premier League matches this season—something Ten Hag says is partly down to a lack of good fortune.
“In this moment, definitely the luck is not on my side [but] it’s not about me, it’s about the team, and it’s not on our side,” he said.
“And last season was not different, but in the end we turned this around, and we are [were] so determined it would be the same case today.
“But we have to turn this around, and it will turn around if we keep playing like we are playing now and, in this block — Brentford, Fenerbahce, today, we played really good football.”
United will welcome Leicester City for the Carabao Cup round of 16 on Wednesday, followed by a match against Chelsea, managed by the impressiveEnzo Maresca, at Old Trafford on November 3.

Agona West NPP Constituency Nasara Coordinator, Haruna Rashid, is in critical condition after being shot during a campaign confrontation in Agona Nyarkrom in the Central Region.
The incident unfolded around 9 p.m. as Rashid accompanied the convoy of Chris Arthur, the Agona West NPP parliamentary candidate. Three other individuals sustained injuries.
Police sources report that supporters of Chris Arthur and those of rival candidate Cynthia Morrison were both campaigning in the area when they crossed paths. Tensions heightened as Arthur’s convoy encountered a roadblock, allegedly set up by Morrison’s supporters.
While attempting to turn back, shots were fired, hitting Rashid in the ribs. Chris Arthur later described the encounter, recounting how they were blocked as they approached Nyarkrom Township.
“We decided to change direction, but it was too late,” he said.
Mr Arthur described how unidentified individuals first poured alcohol on their driver, causing him to lose control before two men approached and shot Rashid.
Rashid was initially rushed to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospitaland has since been transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.
Agona West NPP Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Jibri Tanko, has condemned the violence, warning all supporters to avoid intimidation.
“We will not allow anyone to intimidate us in this election,” he stated firmly.
In addition, two supporters from Cynthia Morrison’s camp were also injured by gunfire and are receiving treatment at the Agona Nyarkrom Health Centre as investigations continue.
Volta River Authority (VRA) has announced plans to renovate the 160-megawatt Kpong Dam and spillway gates, located in Akuse in the Eastern Region, over 40 years after its initial construction.
This announcement was made during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting attended by local chiefs, assembly members, and opinion leaders from Akuse, Torgome, Fodzoku, Natriku, and neighbouring communities.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the project’s implications and gather input from the communities regarding their concerns and suggestions to mitigate any potential positive and negative impacts.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Kwaku Wiafe, VRA’s Director of Engineering Services, explained the importance of engaging stakeholders and community members. He noted that the goal was to inform them about the restoration plans for the Kpong Dam.
He added that the project seeks to rehabilitate the dyke, which is constructed from rocks that have gradually shifted along the dam’s length due to water wave action over the past four decades.
Initially, the VRA considered repairing the structure, but it became clear that adding a new layer of rocks would effectively rebuild the dam, significantly extending its lifespan.
“Since the dam at Akuse only permits water from Akosombo to pass, and if the water is coming from Akosombo, the spillway must be prepared to allow it to pass; otherwise, it will overtop it, which is why we must ensure that our spillways are extremely dependable in light of climate change and other issues,” he said.
He added that “So the reliability of the spillways is critical to the dam’s safety, and by improving the stability of the dyke and the reliability of the spillways, the overall safety of the dam is enhanced, which goes a long way towards protecting both downstream communities and ensuring that the asset’s integrity is maintained so that Ghanaians can continue to benefit from a reliable power supply.”
Additionally, the director announced that the VRA plans to rehab the deteriorating 10-kilometre road from Okwenya Junction to Akuse, improving it to a first-class standard for haulage trucks and other vehicles. This decision follows complaints from VRA staff, local residents, and other road users.
Some stakeholders voiced concerns over potential threats to fish species and water pollution. In response, Mr. Wiafe assured that the construction process would prevent water pollution and have no impact on fishing, as it would avoid the fishing landing site. He added that haulage trucks would adhere to a strict speed limit of 15 kilometres per hour, and regular watering of the road would control dust.
In his presentation, VRA civil engineer Emmanuel Darko Thompson shared plans to restore the upstream dykes and rehabilitate the spillway gate, focusing on addressing corrosion rather than replacement.
He mentioned that the dykes would be reinforced with an additional 150,000 cubic metres of rocks to strengthen the structure.
“If we don’t repair the dam’s dykes and it collapses, it will impact everyone in the nation as well as productivity and economic growth,” he added.
Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, the assembly member for Akuse, urged the VRA to extend the road restoration project to Asutuare.
Finance Minister has criticised Sunon Asogli Power for what he termed “bad faith” in the company’s decision to cease operations due to a $259 million debt owed by theElectricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam noted that the government was in the midst of negotiating a debt repayment agreement when Sunon Asogli altered its position on the payment terms, further complicating the resolution process.
“We were working on an agreement to address the debt, but Sunon Asogli later revised their demands on payment terms, making it difficult for us to proceed,” the Finance Minister stated.
Difficult Negotiations with Sunon Asogli
Dr Mohammed Amin Adam shared that during an initial payment round to independent power producers, the Ministry of Finance allocated $30 million to Sunon Asogli.
Later, the company requested an additional $30 million, but the ministry did not agree to this request at the time.
During further negotiations, ECG proposed adding the additional $30 million as part of the settlement, but Sunon Asogli refused to sign the agreement until payment was made.
“They insisted we pay first before they would sign,” Dr. Amin explained.
“Later, they demanded $60 million, threatening to shut down if this amount wasn’t paid.”
The Finance Minister described the move as unfair and urged caution, stating, “We shouldn’t feel pressured just because it’s an election year.
“People sometimes act as if Ghana doesn’t know its rights, especially as we approach elections.”
Debt Restructuring for Independent Power Producers
The Finance Minister announced that Sunon Asogli Power has now agreed to sign a settlement agreement regarding the restructuring of debt owed to independent power producers (IPPs).
He noted the government’s progress in restructuring debts owed to IPPs such as Karpower, CENIT Energy, Sunon Asogli, and Aksa, and mentioned that two of these—CENIT and Aksa—have already finalised debt restructuring agreements.
On October 16, Sunon Asogli Power initiated a shutdown over ECG’s outstanding debt of $259 million.
The company pointed out that, unlike other IPPs, it had not invoicedECG for idle capacity charges; however, its debt increased by 23% from January to September 2024, with only 22.6% of invoices paid in that period.
The Finance Minister reassured the public that the shutdown has not affected Ghana’s power supply due to the country’s robust reserve capacity.
“Ghana has multiple power plants generating electricity, and despite the shutdown, we didn’t face a crisis,” Dr Amin noted, adding that the country maintains a surplus in power supply.
Eight travellers were killed when armed gunmen attacked theBolgatanga-Tamale highwaynear Gbimsi, a community close to Walewale.
The incident occurred on Sunday, as the gunmen set up roadblocks in both Gbimsi and Walewale, stopping vehicles and questioning passengers to identify specific targets. Two vehicles were set on fire.
A survivor recounted the terrifying ordeal: “I was travelling from Sunyani to Paga. Upon reaching Walewale, people had mounted roadblocks and were searching for individuals to kill. The incident lasted for more than an hour, yet security did not respond.”
The attack is thought to be tied to the ongoing Bawku conflict, which has reignited after a period of relative calm. The attack has heightened security concerns in the area.
In response, the Ghana Police Service has assured travelers that security will be heightened along the highway in the days ahead. In a statement, the police indicated they are actively working to stabilize the security situation in Bawku, its surrounding regions, and along the Bolgatanga–Walewale–Tamale highway.
In addition to police and military personnel stationed in Bawku and nearby areas, a combined police and military team has been deployed along the Bolgatanga-Walewale-Tamale highway to bolster security and manage traffic flow.
“The security agencies would like to once again assure the public that we are committed to maintaining peace, security, law and order in Bawku and its environs.”
Ghana Football Association (GFA)is reportedly exploring the option of adding an experienced German coach to the Black Stars’ technical team, sparked by concerns about current head coach Otto Addo’s performance.
Reports from Asempa FM claim that GFA President Kurt Okraku recently held discussions in Germany with a coach who could bring additional expertise to the national team setup.
Although Otto Addo is expected to retain his position, the German coach would likely play a significant role on the backroom staff, lending his knowledge to guide the team forward.
This potential change is speculated to reflect the GFA’s recognition of the Black Stars’ struggle in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where Ghana has yet to secure a win in four matches, currently sitting third in their group with two points.
The GFA’s decision to bring on additional support suggests a shift in focus toward ensuring qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America, particularly if current performance levels persist.
Although Addo remains in his position, his tenure may depend on Ghana’s ability to qualify for the tournament.
CEO of Ghana’s National Film Authority, Juliet Yaa Asantewa Asante, has voiced her disappointment over a recent BBC article following Idris Elba’s comments on his plans to move to Africa.
Although the BBC mentioned that Elba made his statement at an “industry event in Accra,” it omitted the specific context—that his remarks were made during the Africa Cinema Summit 2024 held in Ghana’s capital.
Asante believes this lack of detail downplays the importance of the event and Ghana’s role in the ongoing dialogue on African cinema and creative arts.
Venting her spleen and disappointment on the matter, Juliet, who is the convener of the Africa Cinema Summit, wrote on Facebook: “It’s disingenuous for a global and trustworthy channel like BBC News to not give credit where it’s due.”
Read her statement below:
”A couple of weeks back, we had the #africacinemasummit in Ghana, at which the headliner was #IdrisElba…
We invited the channel with other channels to have a one-on-one with Idris, as part of the agenda, as Idris is a son of the land and a promotor of African cinema. We set up a place for the interview, made time and give them a chair and room for the interview…
During the interview, Idris makes a number of announcements, including that he is a ‘Ga boy’ and that he is looking to move to Ghana and, of course, be present in all of Africa. Let’s not forget that he is both Ghanaian and Sierra Leonian…
The interview comes out and first, they mention ‘Africa’ as it is one country! My question is, if he had said I will move to the Uk, will they have said Idris plans to move to Europe? Or will they have said he plans to move to Great Britain? Fair enough…
But what really gets to me is that they didn’t even have the dignity to say that he made these comments at the #Acs2024 but they say that he made the comments at an ‘industry event in Accra’!!! Really!!!!? Not intending comparisons but this is truly disrespectful of the summit and the effort. If you had interviewed him at Cannes, would you have said ‘industry event in France?! Or where ever?
We invite you and give you the biggest scoop! This article was the most read article when it came out on your platform and you can’t even give credit where credit is due?
Fair enough… you don’t need to mention the National Film Authority of Ghanaor our partners, Silverbird Ghana or the #Nilegroup that worked so hard to get this happen… but to not mention the Africa cinema summit is disingenuous at best for such a global and trustworthy channel…
And to the Ghanaian channel that is also publishing the article without the right acknowledgements… this is how we all get vanished in the end, including yourself
I am choosing to voice out my thoughts on this matter, as it truly speaks to a bigger issue!… and let’s all take a moment to ponder what that bigger issue is…
I have said my piece.

Daddy Bosco, a member of the board for theGhana Reggae Dancehall Awards, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the critical comments directed at dancehall music.
In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz, he refuted assertions made by highlife artist Michael Adangba, who claimed that dancehall incites hooliganism among Ghana’s youth.
“Those who claim dancehall music fosters hooliganism are often not well-informed about the genre’s true nature.
A more nuanced and informed perspective reveals that dancehall music frequently advocates social justice, addressing the struggles and experiences of marginalised communities.
If we take the time to truly understand the ethos of the genre, we would recognise its cultural and social significance rather than hastily condemning it,” Bosco said.
Michael Adangba previously shared with Graphic Showbiz his belief that the lyrical themes in dancehall music encourage rebellion and violence. He pointed out that the genre, which originated in Jamaica, contributed to the altercation between Ghanaian dancehall artists Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale during the 2019 Ghana Music Awards.
While Bosco acknowledged that there may be a few unruly individuals within the dancehall scene, he emphasized that they do not reflect the true values and fundamental message of the genre.
“It is important to avoid generalising based on the actions of a few individuals within the Dancehall scene. While some may stray from the positive messages that Dancehall often promotes, this is not unique to the genre.
Every music style has individuals whose behaviours do not reflect the overall values or spirit of the music,” he said.
The Head of Communication and Projects at the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) pointed out that instances of misconduct within the dancehall community are also present in other music genres.
“Yet, when such incidents occur in other genres, we do not immediately label the entire genre in a negative light. This tendency to label dancehall as inherently problematic is not only misguided but also diminishes the powerful, socially conscious messages that much of the music delivers,” he added.
Over the years, the dancehall genre in Ghana has flourished, giving rise to numerous artists including Root Eye, Shatta Rako, Sonni Balli, Yoggi Doggi, Samini, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Jupitar, Epixode, Ras Kuuku, Laruso, Iwan, and Kamelyeon.

Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, was taken to the Police Hospital in Falomo, Lagos, after reporting pain in his “breasts.”
A source revealed that Bobrisky began feeling discomfort following several hours spent in a police cell at Alagbon, Lagos State. He was transported to the hospital around 2 p.m. on the previous day.
Reports indicate that Bobrisky complained of significant pain in his “breasts.”
However, another police source suggested that the ambulance transfer was merely a ruse, as the Commissioner of Police overseeing the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos had visited the Nigeria Police Force’s Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) at Alagbon, intending to move Bobrisky to his unit at the SFU.
“They were concerned about avoiding public attention, so they sent for a police ambulance with the number plate LLD339LP,” the source added.
Another source indicated that Bobrisky complained bitterly about pain in his ‘breast,’ which was why they insisted on taking him to the Police Hospital, Falomo, before transferring him to SFU.
“This occurred after the CP of SFU visited the command to supervise the transfer.”
According to the source, prior to being placed in the cell, Bobrisky was kept in isolation from other inmates in a designated area, guarded by two armed officers who had been assigned to oversee his safety after he was profiled.
The police source also mentioned that these officers remained with him until he was taken out and placed in the ambulance for his transfer to the Police Hospital in Falomo.
When approached inside the ambulance and asked to identify himself, he provided his male name, Idris. During the transport, he was accompanied by a female nurse and a fully armed police officer who monitored him closely.
Bobrisky was positioned on a stretcher inside the ambulance.
It’s important to note that Okuneye spent Monday night at the FCID in Alagbon, Lagos, following his arrest by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Ghanaian artist Sefa has publicly announced her exit from Black Avenue Muzik, the label founded by rapper and entrepreneur D-Black.
During a discussion with Nana Romeo on Accra FM, Sefa disclosed that her contract with the label had expired earlier and that she chose to part ways due to certain business disagreements.
Despite the challenges, Sefa expressed that she still views Black Avenue Muzik as family.
“When you’re working with people you consider family, it’s always a roller coaster. There have been some business misunderstandings, but Black Avenue Musik has always been family,” she said.
Now an independent artist, Sefa is focusing on her solo career and recently released new music. She expressed her openness to signing with new record labels, depending on the deal.
“I’m very hard-working, dedicated, and self-motivated. I’m open to work,” she stated.
Even after her departure from the label, Sefa confirmed that she still holds the rights to her music and is free to perform her songs.

Fame is not all glitz and glamour,as more celebrities have begun sharing their personal stories of sexual harassment, often at the hands of fans or overly obsessed admirers.
These encounters have escalated beyond online harassment and objectification to troubling physical interactions, with some fans even committing acts of sexual misconduct in public spaces.
While it’s true that many celebrities project a sensual image that attracts admirers, it is vital to understand that this image is often a performance for “show business” and doesn’t necessarily represent their true selves.
Several Ghanaian celebrities, both men and women, who have endured such disturbing experiences, have courageously come forward, describing these incidents as among the most traumatic in their lives.
Let’s take a look at their stories below:
Mzbel
Mzbel
Mzbel has often shared her experiences with sexual abuse throughout her career. During a live performance in October 2005 at KNUST, the singer faced sexual harassment from some students. She described how, in a disturbing incident, students groped her, inserting their fingers into her private area and fondling her breasts. This left her with bruises on her face and body, causing severe pain.
Although the case went to court, a subsequent report by a student fact-finding committee cast doubt on her account, suggesting that provocative behavior by Mzbel and her dancers on stage might have influenced the students’ actions.
A year later, Mzbel revealed another traumatic event where she was again robbed by armed robbers who broke into her home.
Mzbel said she was rapped twice by armed robbers on the night in the presence of her son, John.
Sefa
Sefa also shared a distressing experience during her performance inKasoa, where she was assaultedafter leaving the stage.
The singer said although she has experienced verbal abuse from netizens on social media a number of times, the assault in Kasoa left her terrified and shaken.
Sharing a vivid picture of the incident, she said in her case, both men and women touched her breasts and private parts.
“Yes, I have been harassed sexually,” she stated. “After performing at a show in Kasoa and I left the stage, I felt hands all over me…my breasts, my private parts…like men and women touching me. It was so frustrating … That was where I really felt it,” she stated in a recent interview with Accra FM’s Nana Romeo.

While sexual abuse in the showbiz industry has predominantly affected women, men have also become victims.
Singer, KiDi, also shared his experience from an obsessed female fan.
In May 2022, during an interview with AJ Sarpong, the Ghanaian singer recounted an incident at a birthday party hosted by popular photographers, ‘Twins Dnt Beg’, where the assault took place.
“I went to a birthday party, I wasn’t planning to perform but there are my brothers so I did a couple of things so when I got down, this girl approached me and said she wanna take a picture with me.”
“Obviously she wasn’t from here (Ghanaian), I was like cool ’cause I am a nice guy. When she was crossing to the side she stood in front of me. She was taller than me, I was looking at her and she just grabbed my manhood. After she laughed and said she’d heard things about me,” KiDi narrated.
Founder and President of the World Miracle Outreach, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, has expressed deep concern over the increasing rates of HIV/AIDS infections in Ghana.
During a panel discussion on GTV on Thursday, October 24, 2024, he highlighted the troubling rise ofHIV cases among students, attributing it to prevalent promiscuity.
Dr. Tetteh specifically noted the surprisingly high levels of infections at the University of Ghana, Legon, calling attention to the urgent need for awareness and prevention measures.
“The number of boys and girls in Legon who are HIV positive, you would have the biggest shock of your life. This is sad, this is sad, and I’m happy I’m saying this on national TV.
“Some of these young boys and young girls already on campus are living promiscuous lives, and they have already contracted HIV/AIDS. These are people I have prayed for… and I’m not talking about 10 years, 5 years,” the pastor said.
He added, “It is sad. And if some of them tell you how they get into it, what is happening is that some of these girls go to the place and when they come back they also connect to the boys and girls there. So, a lot of people think that they are getting a boy, they are getting a girl, then it (HIV) spreads.”

The Ghana AIDS Commission has raised serious concerns over the alarming statistics of HIV/AIDS cases in the country, as outlined in its 2023 National HIV Report.
The report reveals that approximately 50 new infections occur daily across Ghana, and over 218,000 people living with HIV remain unaware of their status.
As reported by Kasapafmonline.com, the data shows that more than 152,000 individuals are currently on anti-retroviral therapy (ART), comprising 36,000 adult males, 109,000 adult females, and 5,000 children.
Of particular concern is the situation in Accra, where a significant portion of infections affect economically active individuals aged 15 and 49.
The report estimates thatGhana’s national adult HIV prevalence for 2023 stands at 1.53%, with approximately 334,095 people living with the virus—of which 316,545 are adults (94.7%) and 17,550 are children (5.3%).

“James is just a friend, and nothing has happened between us,” he said.
“I don’t want to mix business with pleasure; that is why I don’t want to date someone in the same industry,” she added.
Actress Benedicta Gafah shared that her partner brings her a sense of peace, which she deeply values, especially since he works outside the entertainment industry.
In an interview with Andy Dosty onAccra’s Hitz FM, Gafah expressed appreciation for her supportive partner, who not only believes in her work but also actively encourages her career and business ventures.
Following backlash over his recent marriage, just two years after his late wife’s passing,Okomfo Kolege has responded to critics on social media.
After his wedding photos and videos circulated online, many reacted unfavourably, with some accusing the Kumawood actor of moving on too quickly. They cited his profound sorrow after his wife’s death, labelling his remarriage as insincere and a contradiction to his earlier struggles with grief.
In response, Kolege shared a cryptic message on social media, stating, “The Bible says only a fool is considered wise when he is quiet. Father forgive them, for they don’t know what they are saying.”
Kolege’s private wedding took place on October 20, 2024, attended by close family and friends. Footage from the celebration captured the actor and his new bride looking joyful and content together.
In an earlier interview with Delay, Okomfo Kolege shared his fears about moving on.
When asked about the possibility of settling down again, he admitted that he has been grappling with overwhelming anxiety since his wife’s death.
“We are praying about it. The fear is overwhelming. I faced a lot as a young man, and then this happened. I’m a young guy whose wife has passed away. This was supposed to be something we experienced when we were older. This doesn’t feel like the right time,” he said.
In another interview with Kwaku Manu, he emphasised,I don’t even think about settling down again. I’m gripped with the fear of marriage and childbirth. Even if I am walking in town and come across anyone who looks like my wife, I get startled. I loved my wife very much.”
“As for pregnant women, when I see them, I just keep staring at them. Recently, I was driving and spotted a pregnant woman from afar; she was nowhere close to my car, but I waited for her to cross before I drove on.”
Background
Okomfo Kolege’s wife, Millicent Oteng, tragically passed away on November 17, 2022, during childbirth.
In an interview with Kwaku Manu, the actor explained that her death was due to an unexpected surge in blood pressure during labour, which led to a tear in the nerves in her head.
Chief Executive Officer of Dalex Finance, Joe Jackson, has taken issue with Finance Minister Dr. Amin Adam’s assertion that the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) resulted in savings of $12 billion for Ghana.
In a social media post countering the Finance Minister, Joe Jackson responded to the news, asserting, “DDEP did not save us $12bn. The govt took $12bn from its citizens by force! Set the record straight.”
During a panel discussion at the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group on Wednesday, October 23, the Finance Minister highlighted the significant role of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) in tackling Ghana’s financial challenges and reducing its debt burden.
He stated that the DDEP has contributed to establishing a more sustainable fiscal framework.
Dr. Amin Adam described the DDEP, which was initiated in December 2022, as a landmark achievement that set the stage for more comprehensive debt restructuring initiatives.
“The DDEP was a great success, and we followed that with the restructuring of our bilateral debt, which was also very successful. This led to significant savings of about $2.8 billion.
Following this, the restructuring of our Eurobonds, which is about $13 billion, was concluded in the first week of this month, marking another great success.
“The benefits we have derived from this so far include an outright debt cancellation of about $5 billion and another debt service relief of about $4.3 billion. So, between the bilateral creditors and the Eurobonds,we are talking about savings of about $12 billion.
We think this is a great success, and we are still working on restructuring our commercial creditors involving about $2.7 billion, which we are working very hard to conclude,” he said.
Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus has been omitted from the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award shortlist, which was announced on Thursday.
Kudus, whose stellar season for both his club and national team had many anticipating a nomination, was left out of the final list of 10 players.
This comes despite his impressive contributions at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored twice against Egypt and secured Man of the Match honors twice.
His debut season with West Ham was equally remarkable, with Kudus netting eight Premier League goals and five in the Europa League.
The CAF list also saw the exclusion of reigning champion Victor Osimhen, along with fellow Nigerian standout Victor Boniface, who clinched the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was another surprising omission.
The selected nominees include Edmond Tapsoba, Amine Gouiri, Chancel Mbemba, Simon Adingra, and Achraf Hakimi, as well as Soufiane Rahimi, Ademola Lookman, William Troost-Ekong, and Ronwen Williams.
Lookman stands out as a strong contender after his Europa League final hat-trick led Atalanta to victory.
The prestigious2024 CAF Awards will be held in Marrakech, Morocco, on December 16, marking the third consecutive year the event takes place in the country.
Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has committed to resolving any lingering disputes withAsantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
This pledge came during a visit from Nana Kwame Bediako, widely known as Cheddar, who is running as the presidential candidate for the New Force.
While on a regional tour to share his campaign messages, Cheddar stopped by the Dormaahene’s palace, where he expressed his hopes for a harmonious relationship between the Dormaahene and the Otumfuo.
“Otumfuo and Osagyefo are two significant names, and both are chiefs. If it weren’t for the blessings of God, they wouldn’t have become chiefs. But things happen for a reason.
“I came here with drinks to appease you, and I will plead on behalf of Otumfuo as well to cease all grudges between the two of you.
“I, Nana Kwame Bediako, am offering my head for the sake of peace. If the two of you are united, we have peace in Ghana. But if there is separation, then we are also separated. What I am asking them to do, if it doesn’t become possible, is they should behead me,” Cheddar said.
In response, Dormaahene pledged to ensure that his efforts to maintain peace with Otumfuo would not be in vain.
“What he said has left me speechless. He has addressed issues that our leaders in the country cannot talk about. Who doesn’t want peace? I have thought about it, and I promise him that his efforts won’t be in vain. If not for Ghana’s 1992 constitution that prohibits chiefs from engaging in politics, I would have declared my support for him,” he said.
The Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, has been openly critical of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, regarding certain traditional authorities he believes fall outside the Asantehene’s jurisdiction.
Though there is no specific cause cited for their differences, it is widely acknowledged that the Dormaahene and the Asantehene have not enjoyed a cordial relationship. This tension has surfaced on multiple occasions and has been the subject of media coverage over the years.
In the latest dispute, Dormaahene has challenged Otumfuo’s decision to elevate the Fiaprehene to paramount status, contending that this action exceeds the Asantehene’s rightful authority.
Policy think-tank IMANI Africahas called for the establishment of an independent council to address fiscal recklessness in public sector financial management, as a report cites Finance Ministry as worst culprit.
This follows the release of IMANI Afica’s collaborative report with Oxfam Ghana, which evaluated financial irregularities among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in its third edition of Fiscal Recklessness Index.
The report ranked the Finance Ministry as the most reckless institution in Ghana, attributing over GH₵ 4.9 billion in financial losses in 2023 to various irregularities.
Speaking at a media briefing, Senior Research Associate at IMANI Africa, Dennis Asare, criticised the Finance Ministry for its incompetence, stating: “The Ministry of Finance is considered the most fiscally reckless institution because nearly 90% of the identified irregularities can be traced back to it.”
Mr. Asare added that these significant financial losses could have been redirected to essential social intervention programmes such as the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) initiative and the Ghana School Feeding Programme.
He called for the creation of a legally backed, independent fiscal authority to provide critical oversight of the country’s financial system. “We need a stronger fiscal council, not just a committee. All political parties agree on the importance of such an institution. Now is the time to formalise it with legal backing and ensure it has the authority to perform its critical oversight functions effectively,” he urged.
However, former Auditor-General Daniel Yaw Domelevoopposed the idea of establishing a Fiscal Council as a solution to fiscal mismanagement in the public sector.
His view is that: “the Attorney-General, the Auditor-General, the Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency, and the Public Accounts Committee—these institutions, we should wake them up.”
Mortuary Workers Association of Ghana (MOWAG) has cautioned the government of a potential nationwide strike in November if long-standing issues affecting their members remain unaddressed.
The Association is calling for better working conditions, fairer wages, a safer workplace, and sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for its workers.
According to MOWAG, these concerns have been unresolved since 2019, despite repeated appeals to the government.
Richard Kofi Jordan, MOWAG’s General Secretary, voiced the Association’s frustration during an interview with Citi FM, accusing the government of stalling the process by frequently requesting irrelevant information rather than tackling the issues directly.
Jordan highlighted that, despite efforts to engage with officials, mortuary workers continue to operate in hazardous environments that jeopardise their health and safety.
MOWAG contends that the government’s delayed response has created an unsustainable situation for its members.
As a final measure, Jordan noted, MOWAG members are now prepared to strike if no progress is made, hoping that this warning will compel the authorities to act promptly to prevent disruptions to essential services nationwide.
“We cannot strike in the middle of the month. So we are planning towards another week. It could be the end of this month, it could be the first week of next month [November], whichever it is, we will communicate the same to the public, and then you understand.”
“As I speak to you, the government has demanded certain data from us, and we feel that it is a way to delay the process. They demanded certain data from us, which we are providing.
“But that is not enough for us to say that we are not going to embark on our strike. We will surely strikeif what we are asking for is not met within this month,” he said.
