State files fresh charge against Oliver Vormawor; four others discharged

On Thursday, the State introduced a fresh charge against Oliver Barker-Vormawor, the leader of Democracy Hub, a group protesting illegal mining (galamsey).

Originally, Barker-Vormawor faced a charge for allegedly stealing the keys to a police towing vehicle.

During court proceedings, Senior State Attorney Nana Ama Adinkra notified the court about the revised charge sheet, withdrawing the previous one and substituting it with the updated version.

In the new charge sheet, the state dropped the theft charge against Barker-Vormawor and instead charged him with “intentionally turning off the ignition of a police towing truck.”

The State has dropped charges against four individuals linked to the case, resulting in their discharge. Those released include Cedric Bansah, Emmanuel Offei, Nana Amo Mensah Prempeh, and Thomas Yeboah.

Currently, Oliver Barker-Vormawor and eight others continue to face multiple charges, including conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct likely to breach the peace, and assault on a public officer. They have all pleaded not guilty and are out on bail.

The arrests stemmed from an earlier incident when police detained 53 members of Democracy Hub, the anti-galamsey protest group, citing alleged misconduct.

The Circuit Court in Accra had already discharged seven of the protesters, and on Thursday, October 24, another four were released as the charges against them were dropped.

Adam is known for his tendency to surge forward and his skill in delivering precise crosses and passes in the final third.

He will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of fellow Ghanaian Joseph Anang, who secured a move to West Ham after a successful trial.

He credited this to Stonebwoy’s continuous hard work and the far-reaching influence of his music both in Ghana and globally.

American actor Ron Ely, widely recognized for his portrayal of Tarzan in the 1960s TV series, has passed away at the age of 86.

“The world has lost one of the greatest men it has ever known – and I have lost my dad.” the actor’s daughter, Kirsten Casale Ely, said in an Instagram post.

Ron Ely, best known for portraying Tarzan in the NBC television series from 1966 to 1968, endured a number of injuries during his time in the role, including several broken bones and animal attacks, as he insisted on performing his own stunts.

After stepping away from acting in 2001, Ely shifted his focus to writing, publishing two mystery novels. However, he made a brief return to television in 2014, appearing in the film Expecting Amish, where he portrayed an Amish elder.

Throughout the 1980s, Ely guest-starred in several popular TV shows, including The Love Boat and Wonder Woman, where he appeared alongside Lynda Carter. Born in Texas in 1938, Ely married his high school sweetheart in 1959, but the couple divorced just two years later.

Nurses to enjoy duty-free vehicle imports under Bawumia – NAPO assures

New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has revealed that under a Bawumia-led administration in 2025, nurses in Ghana will be allowed to import vehicles with engine capacities below 1.8 litres free of import duties.

Speaking to students at the Korle Bu Nursing and Midwifery Training Institute in Accra on Wednesday, October 23, Dr. Prempeh, also known as Napo, made the announcement, which was met with enthusiasm from the nursing trainees in attendance.

“Dr. Bawumia, the incoming president of Ghana, will provide free duty on vehicles with engine capacities less than 1.8 capacity for nurses,” NAPO said.

Napo further emphasised the NPP’s appreciation for the vital role nurses play in healthcare delivery across the country. He assured that a Bawumia-led NPP government would introduce policies aimed at improving the livelihoods of nurses.

“The NPP recognises and appreciates the key roles that our nurses play in the provision of healthcare to the people, so we shall also make sure that your lives will be better.

“As I said already, there will be free importation of vehicles with engines less than 1.8 capacity for our dear nurses, among other important interventions to make you (nurses) live better and comfortably,” he stated.

Napo further guaranteed that the nursing trainee allowance policy, which was introduced by the NPP, would continue under a future Bawumia administration.

He cautioned that if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President John Mahama regain power, this allowance would be eliminated.

“Former President John Mahama and the NDC do not believe in the nursing trainee allowance. If they win, they will cancel it, making life harder for you. So reject the NDC,” he urged.

Dr. Prempeh also highlighted the NPP government’s ongoing efforts to complete the Agenda 111 hospital projects, which he said would boost healthcare infrastructure and create employment opportunities for nurses and other healthcare workers.

He called on nurses and nursing trainees to support Dr Bawumia and vote for all 275 NPP parliamentary candidates, adding, “The NPP cares for our nurses.”

For a human being, I would say it’s not normal – Pep on Haaland’s goal during Sparta clash

Pep Guardiola remarked that Erling Haaland’s stunning goal during Manchester City’s 5-0 triumph against Sparta Prague was “not normal for a human being.”

In the second half, Haaland executed a spectacular back-heel volley while airborne, converting Savinho’s cross.

He netted another goal before being substituted, bringing his total to 44 goals in just 42 Champions League matches and elevating him to 16th place on the all-time scoring list.

“I didn’t know how he scored,” said Guardiola. “For a human being, I would say no [it’s not normal]. He made a fantastic goal.

“He can touch 15 or 20 balls but have seven or eight chances. It’s unbelievable.

“He made an incredible goal, similar to [Borussia] Dortmund a few years ago. I don’t know which one is more difficult but I would say both.”

Haaland’s Man City teammate Matheus Nunes was equally in awe.

“What an amazing goal. I was speechless after that,” Nunes told TNT Sports. “When he scored a similar goal against Dortmund I was watching on TV, so to see this live, it was amazing.”

Sparta Prague coach Lars Friis was also full of praise for Haaland, who has already reached 13 goals for the season.

“What can you say, he’s maybe the best striker in the world,” said Friis.

“He’s world class. We felt we had good hands on him but then he pops up with a goal like this.

“They are the best team in the world with the best players in the world.”

With this win, Manchester City climbed to third place in the Champions League standings, bringing them closer to the knockout stage as they prepare for upcoming matches against Sporting CP and Feyenoord.

Additionally, Guardiola’s team established a new record in Europe’s premier club tournament by remaining unbeaten in 26 consecutive matches—excluding shootouts—surpassing the previous record held by Manchester United from 2007 to 2009.

“We played really good again,” said Guardiola.

“I’m enjoying a lot the way we’re playing lately. We concede few, few chances.

“We create a lot, and we had to be so patient. We have five games left, and the target is to finish in the top eight. It’s a good advantage not to play in February.”

GWR: Afia Asantewaa announces plans embark on another Sing-a-thon in December

Former Guinness World Record aspirant Afua Asantewaa has revealed plans to host another edition of her sing-a-thon in Kumasi this December.

In December 2023, Afua captured the nation’s attention with her attempt to break Sunil Waghmare’s record for the longest solo singing marathon.

Despite her tireless five-day performance, she was eventually disqualified.

However, in an interview with Akoma FM on October 23, 2024, the tourism ambassador shared exciting news: she has been granted clearance from Guinness World Records to organize a new sing-a-thon in Kumasi.

“I can tell you on your show that, God willing, in December, I will be hosting another sing-a-thon, but this time I’m planning to do it in Kumasi.

“My team and I are conducting a feasibility study to determine the best location in the city for the event. This will allow the local community to experience the show and enhance my role as a tourism ambassador,” she announced.

Afua highlighted that her previous disqualification has only strengthened her determination to achieve the status of a Guinness World Record holder.

“The fact that I was not successful in my first attempt shouldn’t be a barrier to my quest of becoming a Guinness World Record holder,” she stated.

She also mentioned that a press conference will be held to officially launch the upcoming sing-a-thon.

Meter-free water and electricity – APC’s Hassan Ayariga’s pledge to Ghanaians if voted into power

Presidential candidate for the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has presented his policy proposals during a meeting with the Ghana Union of Traders Associations (GUTA) on Tuesday, October 22. His speech focused on reforms aimed at enhancing Ghana’s economic environment.

A key aspect of his plan is the introduction of a flat-rate billing system for electricity and water, which would replace the current meter-based system.

According to Ayariga, under this model, utility payments for landlords would be based on the type of property they own, simplifying the billing process and promoting fairness in utility costs.

“There will be no metre for water and electricity in an APC government. The metering system is not effective and short-changing Ghanaians.”

Hassan Ayariga, stressing the need for a change in mindset, called on Ghanaians to take responsibility for the nation’s development.

He emphasised the importance of transparency within the presidency and urged the government to put the interests of citizens and businesses at the forefront of its policies.

Among his bold policy proposals, Ayariga outlined plans to establish a national data system and implement a comprehensive national development strategy. He also introduced the idea of an “economic lockdown,” designed to stimulate local productivity and address critical issues across multiple sectors.

In a sweeping tax reform initiative, Ayariga vowed to reduce the current 32 taxes to just five. He also promised to stabilise the Ghanaian cedi and significantly raise the minimum daily wage from 18 to 300 cedis.

To tackle corruption, he proposed implementing a two-week salary payment cycle and introduced a free port policy, which would allow for duty-free importation of goods.

  • Court orders OSP to release Cecilia Dapaah’s caution statements to her former housekeeper

Court orders OSP to release Cecilia Dapaah’s caution statements to her former housekeeper

Accra High Court has ordered the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to release the investigation caution and charge statements of former sanitation minister Cecilia Dapaah and her husband to Patience Botwe, the primary accused in an ongoing theft trial.

Botwe, a former house help, is accused of stealing large sums of money from Dapaah’s residence. Her legal team filed an application requesting access to these documents, claiming they were crucial for her defence.

Botwe’s lawyers argued that the statements were vital for effectively cross-examining Dapaah and her husband, key witnesses in the case. Previously, they attempted to obtain the documents through a Right to Information (RTI) Act request, but the OSP denied it, citing exemptions.

In response, Botwe’s legal team sought a court ruling to compel the release of the documents. The OSP opposed the request, arguing that it was premature and that the court’s jurisdiction had been improperly invoked.

However, Justice Marie-Louis Simmons dismissed these objections, emphasising the court’s duty to ensure a fair trial.

Justice Simmons cited Article 19(2)(e)(g) of the 1992 Constitution, which guarantees an accused person’s right to adequately prepare a defence.

She stated that access to the requested documents was crucial for Botwe’s defence, especially in light of inconsistencies in the accounts provided by Dapaah and her husband regarding the source of the stolen funds.

The court ruled that withholding these documents would undermine the accused’s ability to challenge the prosecution’s case. However, the court denied Botwe’s request for recordings and transcripts of the interrogations, noting that they were not essential at this stage of the trial.

The OSP was instructed to provide the requested documents within a week, allowing Botwe’s legal team adequate time to prepare for cross-examination.

  • Ministry Finance named again as the most fiscally irresponsible public institution in Ghana – Report

Ministry Finance named again as the most fiscally irresponsible public institution in Ghana – Report

Ministry of Finance has once again been identified as the most fiscally irresponsible public institution in Ghana, spanning the years 2021 to 2023. This comes after a similar ranking between 2015 and 2020.

The latest revelation is part of a report published by IMANI Africa and Oxfam Ghana, which analysed financial mismanagement across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) through their third Fiscal Recklessness Index.

The report ranks the Finance Ministry at the top, followed by the Ministries of Food and Agriculture, Communication and Digitalisation, Roads and Highways, and Health.

During a media briefing, Dennis Asare, Senior Research Associate at IMANI Africa, disclosed that Ghana lost over GH₵ 4.9 billion in 2023 due to financial irregularities.

Asare highlighted that these losses could have been better utilised in funding social intervention programmes such as the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) initiative and the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

“The Ministry of Finance is considered the most fiscally reckless institution because nearly 90% of the identified irregularities can be traced back to it,” he stated.

Asare explained that as a central management agency responsible for overseeing various institutions, the Ministry of Finance’s financial mismanagement highlights deeper systemic problems. He further noted that this fiscal recklessness extends beyond the Ministry’s headquarters to include the agencies under its jurisdiction.

One of the major concerns identified in the report was the government’s inadequate tax collection, revealing significant weaknesses in revenue mobilisation efforts.

The report also offered recommendations to tackle these issues, emphasising the need to establish a more empowered fiscal council to enhance oversight and accountability.

“We need a stronger fiscal council, not just a committee. All political parties agree on the importance of such an institution. Now is the time to formalise it with legal backing and ensure it has the authority to perform its critical oversight functions effectively,” Mr Asare urged.

NCCE raises alarm over increasing voter readiness to participate in election-related violence

Chairperson of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Kathleen Addy, has voiced deep concern about the growing inclination of Ghanaians to engage in election-related violence.

Her remarks followed the release of a recent NCCE report on voter concerns, which revealed that some voters are willing to resort to violence in support of party interests or in reaction to suspected electoral fraud.

During a media briefing on Wednesday, October 23, Addy stressed the urgent need to strengthen government institutions to restore public trust in the electoral process and prevent potential violence.

“We have people who are willing to say on record that yes, they’re willing to participate in violent activities at least for one reason or the other, it should be a great source of worry to all well-meaning Ghanaians.

“And as people, we should work together to ensure that we build confidence in the systems that have been set up for governance. So that people will not be compelled to take that course of action.

“People should have the understanding that there are conflict resolutions that are available to various institutions through the Peace Council.

Various institutions and we should use this mechanism to resolve every misunderstanding that comes up.

“When you go to the polling stations, the parties already have someone there ensuring that the parties are allocated with the votes they get. If you have not been delegated to represent your party, you have no business going there to do party work.”

Speaking at the 46th CAF Ordinary Assembly in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Dr. Motsepe assured the public that the case would be given a fair and impartial review.

“When there was this problem with the Nigerian national team in Libya, and I will not comment on that because there’s a proper investigation. But I want to emphasise a principle that we will not tolerate it.

“This is something that has been going on for quite some time. Let me emphasise that the Nigeria and Libya situation is being properly investigated and appropriate action will be taken,” he said.

The Super Eagles, along with their officials, had left for Libya early on Sunday, October 13. However, the Nigerian Football Federation later announced that the team would not participate in the match.

In response, the Libyan Football Federation denied any mistreatment of the players, attributing the incident to security concerns.

I’m sorry – Ariana Grande apologises to ‘Mistress of the Dark’ Elvira for rude behaviour

Ariana Grande has issued an apology to actress Cassandra Peterson, known for her role in the horror icon Elvira, after Peterson accused the pop star of snubbing her at a meet and greet.

Peterson, famous for her Mistress of the Dark persona, revealed that Grande had requested tickets for herself and her family to attend one of her shows.

However, during a panel discussion, Peterson mentioned that while she had taken photos and signed autographs for Grande’s friends and relatives, the singer declined to pose for a picture in return and left before the performance began.

Cassandra Peterson made the claims during a question-and-answer panel

In her reply to Cassandra Peterson’s comments, Ariana Grande stated that she doesn’t “even remember” meeting the Elvira star.

She explained that the alleged encounter would have occurred around seven years ago, shortly after her concert in Manchester was tragically targeted in a terror attack. Grande expressed that this difficult time may have affected her memory of the event.

At the time, Ariana said, she “was really not great with being in public crowds or loud places.”

“But if I’m misremembering this moment, I sincerely apologise for offending you so.

“Thank you for being so nice to my mom; she told me how lovely you were (she might have different feelings about that now, but I’ll talk to her clearly; we all have our days!)”

She signed off by “sending love always,” adding, “You’ll always be our queen of Halloween.”

Ghanaian highlife singer, songwriter, and producer, Kuami Eugene, said in a recent interview with Hitz FM that Joyce Blessing’s promotion for her ‘Victory’ song was subpar.

Speaking to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, he said that the song would have gotten more mileage if she put extra work.

“I think Joyce Blessing didn’t do as much as Empress Gifty is doing [with Watch Me]. I am just being real. I love Auntie Joyce so much but I don’t think she did justice to the song like Empress is doing. Empress has taken it personal. And from a writer’s perspective, there is a lot of respect attached to it.

She is singing it everywhere, she is posting everybody. Joyce Blessing, at the beginning of the whole song, after she put it out there and was going viral, did really do. But after December, that’s it for her. She had a hit song so that’s it for her,” he said.

He said Empress, on the hand, has been doing so much to make sure she maximises the potential of the song.

“It’s been almost a month and it doesn’t look like Empress Gifty is stopping anytime soon. And it’s looking very good. She’s been everywhere; she’s been to Kumasi, Eastern Region, I think it is something we should really learn.

The Victory song, released in 2023 was written, composed and produced by Kuami Eugene for gospel musician Joyce Blessing.

Joyce Blessing, in an interview even revealed that Kuami Eugene was the creative director of the creative director of the music video of ‘Victory’.

Kuami Eugene, apart from his own songs, has gained recent acclaim as a fantastic songwriter. Apart from Victory, he has also written songs for MzVee, Empress Gifty, Kwame Yogot, among others.

TikTok owner fires intern for tampering with AI project

TikTok owner, ByteDance, says it has sacked an intern for “maliciously interfering” with the training of one of its artificial intelligence (AI) models.

But the firm rejected claims about the extent of the damage caused by the unnamed individual, saying they “contain some exaggerations and inaccuracies.”

It comes after reports about the incident spread over the weekend on social media.

The Chinese technology giant’s Doubao ChatGPT-like generative AI model is the country’s most popular AI chatbot.

“The individual was an intern with the [advertising] technology team and has no experience with the AI Lab,” ByteDance said in a statement.

“Their social media profile and some media reports contain inaccuracies.”

ByteDance clarified that its commercial online operations, including its advanced large language AI models, were not impacted by the intern’s actions.

The company also refuted claims that the incident led to more than $10 million (£7.7 million) in damages by disrupting an AI training system composed of thousands of powerful GPUs (graphics processing units).

After dismissing the intern in August, ByteDance reported the incident to the individual’s university and relevant industry bodies.

As the operator of globally popular social media apps such as TikTok and its Chinese counterpart Douyin, ByteDance is recognised for its leadership in algorithm development, which has contributed significantly to its apps’ widespread appeal.

Hollywood icon Idris Elba to relocate to Ghana soon – Actor confirms

British actor Idris Elba, who has Ghanaian roots, has shared his intentions to move to Africa within the next decade to contribute to the continent’s film industry. The 52-year-old, known for his roles in The Wire and Luther, is leading efforts to establish film studios in Zanzibar and Accra, Ghana.

Born in London to a Ghanaian mother and a Sierra Leonean father, Elba maintains strong connections to Africa and hopes to leverage his influence to elevate the region’s film industry.

During an industry meeting in Accra, Elba emphasised his desire to immerse himself in the continent’s storytelling culture, saying, “I would certainly consider settling down here; not even consider, it’s going to happen.”

Idris Elba revealed that over the next five to ten years, he plans to live in several African cities, including Accra, Freetown, and Zanzibar, to support the telling of authentic African stories.

Elba, known for his portrayal of Nelson Mandela in Long Walk to Freedom (2013), believes Africans should lead the filmmaking process—from production to distribution.

He envisions a future where global audiences gain a deeper understanding of Africa, moving beyond its history of slavery and colonisation to embrace its rich culture, traditions, and languages.

While Nigeria’s Nollywood is flourishing, Elba acknowledged the need for better infrastructure across Africa’s film industry. A 2022 Unesco report pointed to gaps in training, institutions, and resources, which Elba hopes to address through his planned studios and initiatives.

His ultimate ambition is to create a platform for Africans to own their stories and inspire global recognition of the continent’s diverse, rich narratives.

“We have to invest in our storytelling because when you see me, you see a little version of yourself, and that encourages us,” he said, emphasising the importance of representation in African cinema.

FIFA faces allegations of not paying over £3 million owed to players

FIFA has come under fire for allegedly failing to pay the final instalments owed to players across Europe whose contracts were not honoured by their clubs.

According to multiple sources from various countries familiar with the matter, although FIFA made some payments, the last instalment remains unpaid.

Many of the affected players, now either unemployed or retired, are said to rely heavily on these funds.

The payments were supposed to be disbursed from FIFA’s Fund for Players, established in 2020, with the outstanding amounts due in September 2023.

BBC Sport has obtained an email from a national football union addressed to FIFA, listing over 30 affected players and highlighting their financial struggles, urging the release of the owed amounts.

In total, 420 players are owed a combined sum of £3.09 million.

This issue arises amid an ongoing dispute between FIFA and the global players’ union, FIFPro, over changes to the international match calendar.

FIFPro, supported by the Professional Footballers’ Association, argues that elite players are being overworked, increasing their risk of injury.

A key point of contention is the expanded 32-team Club World Cup, set to be held in the USA next summer, for which FIFA has yet to negotiate television deals or announce prize money.

FIFA has been approached for comment but has yet to respond.

Okomfo Kolege’s words that have caused his social media attacks over his remarriage

Social media is abuzz with reactions after videos from actor Collins Oteng, widely known as ‘Okomfo Kolege, surfaced online, showcasing his recent wedding.

The Kumawood star has tied the knot again in a private ceremony attended by close friends and family, following the loss of his wife two years ago.

In the trending clips from his traditional marriage ceremony held on October 20, 2024, Okomfo Kolege was seen wearing a vibrant kente outfit, while his new bride stunned in a stylish two-piece kente gown. The couple appeared joyful as they posed for photographs together.

However, not all social media users have welcomed this news. Some critics have expressed discontent, claiming that the actor is remarrying too soon.

They recall his profound grief after his wife’s passing and perceive his quick decision to remarry as hypocritical, arguing that it contradicts his earlier statements about moving on.

Conversely, others have voiced their support, suggesting that two years is a reasonable amount of time to heal and begin anew.

I’m so scared to remarry—Okomfo Kolege

In an earlier interview with Delay, Okomfo Kolege shared his fears about moving on.

When asked about the possibility of settling down again, he admitted that he has been grappling with overwhelming anxiety since his wife’s death.

“We are praying about it. The fear is overwhelming. I faced a lot as a young man, and then this happened. I’m a young guy whose wife has passed away. This was supposed to be something we experienced when we were older. This doesn’t feel like the right time,” he said.

In another interview with Kwaku Manu, he emphasised,I don’t even think about settling down again. I’m gripped with the fear of marriage and childbirth. Even if I am walking in town and come across anyone who looks like my wife, I get startled. I loved my wife very much.”

“As for pregnant women, when I see them, I just keep staring at them. Recently, I was driving and spotted a pregnant woman from afar; she was nowhere close to my car, but I waited for her to cross before I drove on.”

    Background

Okomfo Kolege’s wife, Millicent Oteng, tragically passed away on November 17, 2022, during childbirth.

In an interview with Kwaku Manu, the actor explained that her death was due to an unexpected surge in blood pressure during labour, which led to a tear in the nerves in her head.

I am purely NPP – Ofori Amponsah

Famed Highlife artist Ofori Amponsah has openly declared his backing for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He believes that the NPP’s presidential candidate represents the “future of Ghana.”

In a recent interview with TV3, Ofori Amponsah emphasised that no one person can tackle the nation’s economic challenges alone. He underscored the necessity of youth education as a significant factor driving his support for the NPP.

“Every country goes through this phase of going through financial challenges. And this is the time, Ghana is going through it. We don’t have to give up because no one particular person can fix this.

“For me, the step of educating the youth is the reason why I hold on to the NPP… I am purely NPP,” he said.

Amponsah further praised Dr. Bawumia as a visionary leader who understands the importance of digital transformation for Ghana.

“I see something different in that man (Dr. Bawumia). I see him to be the future of this nation. I see him that he will transform Ghana. There are certain times when people in places will make decisions to change the destiny of a nation.

And I believe that man sees that, in this digital age, something should be done for our country. And he sees that vision of a digital Ghana. And I believe that is a good thing,” he said.

Reflecting on the current economic situation and allegations that Dr Bawumia is ‘running away from the economy,’ Ofori Amponsah claimed that Dr Bawumia is just a’mate,’ hence he cannot influence any decisions.

“The vice presidency is something ceremonial. Unless the president is gone, you cannot be in charge. You can give advice, but that doesn’t mean the advice will be taken,” he said.

Don’t try that uncouth behavior again – Nana Yaa Brefo to Salifu Amoako’s congregation for violent act

Media figure Nana Yaa Brefo has spoken out against Archbishop Salifu Amoako, the General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministry, following an incident where his church members assaulted journalists outside the court.

Brefo condemned the actions of those involved, highlighting that resorting to violence in defence of their pastor contradicts Biblical principles.

The Onua FM presenter emphasised that it was unjustifiable for the upset congregants to confront the media, noting that such behaviour damages the reputation of Christianity in the public eye.

“Let me tell the church led by Bishop Salifu. They should never do that uncivilised thing again. Sometimes you can’t tell which God some Christians serve; it’s difficult to comprehend.

“When an armed robber is arrested, people don’t carry weapons to the police station. Sometimes we behave as if we can direct God and are even wiser than Him.

Sometimes we want to twist God’s hand to do our bidding. Some of us are hypocrites,” Yaa Brefo said while speaking on Onua FM.

This incident follows an attack on a GHOne TV journalist outside the court on October 16, 2024, which resulted in injuries to the reporter and sparked widespread condemnation from the public.

Archbishop Salifu Amoako, his wife Mouha Amoako, and Linda Bempah, a sales assistant, were arrested and charged with allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a vehicle.

On October 16, 2024, the High Court in Accra granted bail of GH¢50,000 each to the trio after their arrest on October 15, 2024.

This situation comes on the heels of a tragic car accident involving Salifu Amoako’s youngest son, 16-year-old Elrad Salifu Amoako, who was involved in a fatal collision in East Legon on October 12, 2024. The crash claimed the lives of two young girls.

Elrad was driving a Jaguar SUV (GN 7801-20) when he collided with a 4×4 Acura vehicle (GR 2542-23) driven by Joseph Ackah. The impact caused both vehicles to ignite, resulting in the occupants of the Acura being burned beyond recognition.

Notably, Bishop Salifu has publicly denounced the actions of his church members and condemned their violent conduct.

Video: See highlights of Real Madrid’s impressive 5-2 win in Borussia Dortmund clash

Vinicius Junior achieved a remarkable hat-trick as Real Madrid staged a spectacular comeback to defeat Borussia Dortmund 5-2 after being down 2-0 at halftime.

Dortmund initially took control of the match with goals from Donyell Malen and Jamie Gittens, giving them a solid lead by the break. This matchup was a repeat of last year’s final, where Real Madrid emerged victorious with a 2-0 scoreline.

The Spanish champions began their revival in the second half, with Antonio Rudiger scoring a powerful header in the 60th minute to reduce the deficit. Just two minutes later, Vinicius equalised.

Captain Lucas Vazquez then put Real Madrid ahead 3-2 with a fierce finish from a narrow angle in the 83rd minute. Vinicius capped off his outstanding performance by netting two additional goals late in the match, both coming after dazzling individual runs that left Dortmund’s defense struggling.

    Vinicius inspires Real to win

Dortmund seemed poised to end Real Madrid’s impressive 14-match unbeaten streak at home in the Champions League when they led at halftime.

Even at 2-2, Dortmund’s captain, Julian Brandt, had a chance to regain the lead, but his close-range shot was expertly saved by Real keeper Thibaut Courtois. Less than a minute later, Lucas Vazquez scored, putting Real Madrid ahead.

In the first half, Real Madrid struggled to mount an effective attack, with Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham failing to connect, despite Bellingham hitting the crossbar while the team was down 2-0.

However, after the break, fuelled by the inspiring performance of Vinicius—who is favoured to win next Monday’s Ballon d’Or—the home team looked nearly unstoppable.

Vinicius’s second goal was particularly noteworthy; he picked up the ball in his own half, sprinted down the left flank, and fired a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team now holds a record of two wins and one loss from their three league phase matches, matching Dortmund’s performance. Meanwhile, Jamie Gittens made history by becoming the youngest Englishman to score against Real Madrid at just 20 years and 75 days old, surpassing Alan Smith’s previous record of 20 years and 129 days set while he was with Leeds in March 2001.

  • Diddy implicated in 7 fresh lawsuits that claim other celebrities were also involved

Diddy implicated in 7 fresh lawsuits that claim other celebrities were also involved

Seven new civil lawsuits have been lodged against Sean “Diddy” Combs, including two from individuals who allege they were minors when they were drugged and assaulted by the music mogul.

In a notable development in the ongoing legal challenges facing Combs, this wave of lawsuits for the first time mentions the involvement of other unnamed celebrities in the alleged assaults.

One of the lawsuits, filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe, claims that in 2000, when she was just 13 years old, a limo driver invited her to an afterparty hosted by Combs following the MTV Video Music Awards in New York City. After drinking a beverage at the party, Doe reported feeling lightheaded and sought a place to lie down.

According to her complaint, Combs, along with an unidentified male celebrity and an unnamed female celebrity, entered the bedroom where she was resting.

“You are ready to party!” Combs told Doe, according to her complaint.

The unnamed male celebrity proceeded to rape Doe, her lawsuit states, while Combs and the unnamed female celebrity watched. Combs then raped Doe as the other two celebrities watched, according to her lawsuit.

When reached for comment, representatives for Combs referred CNN to a previous statement from his attorneys in which they denied the allegations in six other lawsuits filed last week.

“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process,” Combs’ attorneys said in the statement. “In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted anyone — adult or minor, man or woman.”

The latest round of lawsuits, which includes five filed in federal court in New York and two in New York Superior Court on Monday, accuses Sean “Diddy” Combs of various offenses such as rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, battery, and false imprisonment. These allegations span from 2000 to 2022 and are reported to have occurred in New York, Los Angeles, or Las Vegas, all during parties allegedly hosted by Combs.

Among the plaintiffs, three are women and four are men, all identified as Jane Doe or John Doe. Most of the claimants assert that they were drugged by Combs, except for one. This particular accuser claims he was a 17-year-old aspiring artist in 2022 when he was allegedly drugged at a party and sexually assaulted by Combs, who had offered him a drink and assured him that he could help make him famous.

These lawsuits are part of a growing legal battle against Combs, joining earlier complaints filed last week by Houston attorney Tony Buzbee and co-counsel Andrew Van Arsdale, who have stated they represent at least 120 alleged victims of Combs, including minors.

Federal prosecutors have accused Combs of orchestrating a “criminal enterprise” through his business empire that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping and decades of physical abuse against women, among other allegations.

He has pleaded not guilty to federal charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Combs is being held in custody in New York as he awaits trial, set to begin in May.

The latest on Combs’ criminal case

On Monday, Combs’ lawyers said they have “significant” new grounds to argue for his release from federal jail while he awaits trial.

Combs lawyers are asking the appeals court to put one appeal on hold so he can bring new information to the attention of the federal judge overseeing the case, Judge Arun Subramanian.

Prosecutors have opposed pausing any appeal.

Before Combs sought the delay the federal appeals court scheduled oral arguments on his detention for November 4.

Over the weekend, his attorneys asked Subramanian to issue an order to prohibit potential witnesses and their attorneys from speaking about the allegations against Combs.

“This Court should exercise its discretion in issuing an order requiring all potential witnesses and their counsel to refrain from making extrajudicial statements that have a substantial likelihood to interfere with Mr. Combs’s trial or otherwise prejudice the due administration of justice,” Combs’ lawyers wrote to the judge.

Since November 2023, Sean Combs has faced at least 25 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault or misconduct. The first of these lawsuits, brought by his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura, was resolved the very next day, while the other cases are still pending.

Combs has denied all allegations made against him.

Prosecutors have indicated that their criminal investigation is still in progress, and there may be additional charges or defendants included in a potential superseding indictment.

  • I will run as an independent candidate – Cynthia Morrison debunks rumours

I will run as an independent candidate – Cynthia Morrison debunks rumours

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Agona West, Cynthia Mamle Morrison, has reiterated her decision to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections as an independent candidate.

This development follows the circulation of videos on social media featuring Morrison alongside several NPP MPs, including caucus leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin and Kennedy Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central.

Some individuals began speculating about the possibility of her returning to the NPP, but engaging the media, Morrison noted that she would run for the Agona West seat one more time, but not on the NPP ticket.

Her seat was among the four declared vacant by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin on October 17, 2024, a move that altered the parliamentary landscape.

The MPs affected by this ruling were Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Kwadjo Asante (Suhum), Andrew Amoako Asiamah (Fomena), and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central). According to the Speaker, their decision to contest the upcoming elections under different banners effectively vacated their seats.

Morrison was first elected as the MP for Agona West in 2016 on the NPP platform and successfully defended her seat in the 2020 parliamentary elections.

However, she lost the NPP primaries for the 2024 elections to Christopher Arthur, who is now the party’s candidate for the upcoming December 7 polls. She initially sought to run independently, citing mistreatment from the current NPP leadership as her motivation.

    Background:

On October 18, 2024, Ghana’s Supreme Court suspended Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin’s ruling concerning the vacation of four parliamentary seats. This decision came after an application was filed by New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament, with the case being presided over by Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

The court’s ruling temporarily halts the Speaker’s earlier decision, made on October 17, 2024, pending a full legal review and final judgment.

Speaker Bagbin had ruled in favor of a motion by Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, which declared four parliamentary seats vacant. This move shifted the majority in Parliament to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Bagbin argued that the affected MPs, by opting to run as independent candidates or on the ticket of a different party for the December 7, 2024, elections, had violated Article 97(g) and (h) of the 1992 Constitution.

He explained that these provisions aim to prevent party defection and cross-carpeting, ensuring party loyalty throughout an MP’s term.

On October 22, 2024, Speaker Bagbin adjourned the parliamentary session indefinitely (sine die), just a week after MPs returned from a long recess.

  • Interior Minister extends curfew in Bawku

Interior Minister extends curfew in Bawku

Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has extended the curfew in Bawku Municipality and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region through an Executive Instrument.

Effective from Tuesday, October 22, 2024, the curfew will now run from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

In an official statement, the Minister called on chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm and resilient amid their current challenges.

He urged them to adopt peaceful, non-violent means to maintain harmony.

Additionally, the ban on the possession of firearms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within these areas remains firmly in place.

“Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement said.

  • Being named as a next of kin doesn’t mean you inherit the account – BoG clarifies misconceptions

Being named as a next of kin doesn’t mean you inherit the account – BoG clarifies misconceptions

Next of kin, is simply a nominee designated by the account holder, serving as the main contact if the bank cannot reach the account holder according to Bank of Ghana (BoG).

This implies that the next-of-kin designation in banking is meant for locating the account holder, not for determining who inherits the account.

“This person should be close and know a lot about the account holder, and that is why in practice, many people would use some of their close relatives, Mr. Augustine Amoako Donkor, Assistant Director, Financial Stability Department of BoG, has said.

He was speaking on the topic, “The Next-of-Kin Concept,” as part of a two-day media capacity building workshop for selected journalists in the Ashanti Region.

The workshop, which sought to deepen the understanding of participants in the operations of BoG and also build their capacity in financial reporting, was attended by 25 journalists.

Resource persons from the Central Bank took them through microeconomic analysis and significance of microeconomic indicators, monetary policy practice in Ghana, inflation dynamics in Ghana, developments in foreign exchange market, as well as interpretation of the Monetary Policy Committee Pack.

Mr. Donkor said a customer of a bank reserves the right to choose even a friend who knows much about him/her as the next of kin because the main purpose is to have someone who can provide information on why the account holder is not reachable.

Processes to retrieve funds in the account of a deceased customer, according to him, is entirely a different issue when it is established that the owner of the account has indeed died.

“To inherit or have access to the bank account of deceased person, one will have to be named in the deceased person’s will as a beneficiary of the account,” Mr. Donkor clarified.

He explained that a named beneficiary would need to undergo a legal process in which a court of competent jurisdiction grants probate. This probate would give the beneficiary the legal authority to access the deceased person’s account.

In cases where the account holder dies without a will, those with an interest in the estate must apply to be appointed as administrators. This requires the issuance of Letters of Administration by a court of competent jurisdiction, which would then allow them access to the deceased person’s account, the BoG official added.

“In Ghana, this concept of next-of-kin is not defined in our laws, so our discussion is based on what traditionally has been the practice, and that is what is likely to continue until such time that as a country we include this in a particular law,” he said.

  • AG backs MPs’ right to keep their seats in ongoing Supreme Court case

AG backs MPs’ right to keep their seats in ongoing Supreme Court case

Attorney General Godfred Dame has submitted his response as the second defendant in the Supreme Court case initiated by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

The case contests the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to remove four Members of Parliament (MPs) who declared their intentions to run as independent candidates ahead of the December 2024 elections.

In his statement, filed on October 21, 2024, Mr. Dame argued that the Constitution does not require an MP to lose their seat simply for filing to contest a future election as an independent candidate or under a different political party. He clarified that an MP’s seat can only be vacated during their current term if they defect from their party or declare independence during the tenure of the sitting Parliament.

“Filing a nomination to contest an upcoming election for a place in a future Parliament does not lead to a vacation of seat,” the statement reads, adding that the filing by an MP to contest in a future election does not impact their status in the current Parliament.

Mr. Dame further emphasized that all state institutions, including Parliament, must adhere to the Constitution and are subject to the Supreme Court’s authority of judicial review.

He asserted that any ruling or action by the Speaker of Parliament that contradicts constitutional provisions falls under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court for review.

He stressed that every branch of government, including Parliament, is bound by the Constitution and remains accountable to the Supreme Court in determining the constitutionality of its decisions and actions.

“Consequently, an order, decision, ruling, or determination by the Speaker of Parliament, in contravention of and/or ultra vires to the Constitution, will render such order, decision, ruling, or determination amenable to the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court.”

The controversy began when Speaker Alban Bagbin declared the seats of four MPs, who had expressed their intention to contest as independent candidates, vacant.

However, the Supreme Court temporarily halted this decision by granting Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s request, allowing the MPs to retain their seats and continue representing their constituencies until a final ruling is delivered.

Today, Speaker Bagbin adjourned parliamentary proceedings amid the ongoing debate over the vacant seats. The session unfolded with National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs seated on the Majority side, after members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) walked out in protest over the opposition’s claim to the majority position.

During the brief session, Speaker Bagbin acknowledged a request from Madina MP Francis-Xavier Sosu to amend the record to reflect that, on Thursday, the NPP group, after walking out, were considered the Minority.

After addressing the correction, the Speaker officially communicated his stance on the matter and confirmed that he had received court documents related to his ruling on the four MPs.

“We don’t have at least half of all members of parliament present. Consequently, in view of the current circumstances, the fact that there’s a question on the composition and constitution of Parliament, and having regard to public interest and the exigencies of the state of affairs in Parliament, I will proceed to, in accordance with Standing Orders 59, adjourn the House indefinitely.”

Ghana targets $25.3 billion from coconut exports by 2029

Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has set an ambitious goal to generate $25.3 billion in export revenue from the coconut industry by 2029.

This initiative aims to diversify the nation’s export portfolio and reduce reliance on traditional commodities like cocoa, which has recently experienced a decline in export earnings

In the first quarter of 2024, Ghana’s total export revenue was approximately $5.1 billion. However, the cocoa sector faced challenges, with export revenues dropping by 32.8% compared to the same period in 2023, resulting in a $233.6 million shortfall.

To counteract this, GEPA is focusing on the coconut industry, often referred to as “green gold” due to its vast economic potential

During the opening ceremony of the fourth International Coconut Festival in Accra on October 21, 2024, GEPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Osafohene Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, emphasised the importance of adopting modern farming techniques and advanced processing technologies to enhance the coconut industry’s productivity and global competitiveness.

Ghana currently leads Africa in coconut exports and ranks 12th globally, producing over 500,000 metric tonnes annually.

The versatility of coconut, with applications spanning food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, positions it as a significant contributor to the nation’s economic growth

The three-day International Coconut Festival, themed “Empowering Lives through Coconut: Innovation, Employment, and Sustainable Livelihoods,” aims to attract investment into the coconut sector and offers mentorship and networking opportunities, particularly for women and youth

By capitalising on the coconut industry’s potential, Ghana seeks to bolster its export revenues, promote sustainable economic development, and lessen dependence on traditional export commodities.

  • Bobrisky actually completed her jail time – Nigerian panel says

Bobrisky actually completed her jail time – Nigerian panel says

An investigative panel in Nigeria has refuted claims that transgender socialite Bobrisky, who was sentenced to six months in prison for misusing the national currency, was living in a flat outside of prison and did not serve her full sentence.

However, the panel did find that she enjoyed certain special privileges while incarcerated.

Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, reportedly had regular visits from family and friends, resided in a furnished single cell equipped with a humidifier, and had access to a television, a refrigerator, and even a phone.

She was imprisoned for “naira abuse” after tossing banknotes at a film premiere in April. The court, however, dismissed charges of money laundering.

The panel was established by the Ministry of Interior to investigate bribery allegations made by social media influencer Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan.

He claimed that officials had been bribed to dismiss the money laundering charges against Bobrisky, a claim that Bobrisky denied. Last month, two senior prison officials were suspended in connection with these allegations.

The panel, set up by the Ministry of Interior, said it would need to carry out further investigations to establish whether the privileges provided for Bobrisky “were financially motivated and based on corrupt practices by correctional officers.”

The panel added that sending Bobrisky, a first-time offender, to a maximum security facility had been a violation of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act.

Throwing money in the air, or “spraying,” is commonly done at Nigerian weddings and other celebrations.

This act is considered a violation, as the banknotes can end up on the ground, where they may be stepped on. While the maximum penalty for such an offence is six months in prison, prosecutions were infrequent until this year.

Following her release in August, a viral video surfaced in which a person believed to be Bobrisky claims she paid $9,000 (£7,000) to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to have the money laundering charges dismissed, triggering the investigation.

Additionally, it was alleged that she had paid millions of naira to secure a flat near the prison where she supposedly served her sentence. Bobrisky, who boasts nearly five million followers on Instagram, has denied that it was her voice in the recordings.

FA charges Kudus with violent conduct against Spurs players during match

West Ham United winger Mohammed Kudus has been charged by the Football Association following his actions during the team’s defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

According to a statement issued on October 22, the Ghanaian player faces charges of improper conduct and/or violent behavior stemming from the incident during the match.

“Mohammed Kudus allegedly acted in an improper manner and/or used violent conduct after the offence that he was sent off for,” the statement reads.

West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus, along with his team, has been charged by the FA for incidents during their match against Tottenham Hotspur on October 19, 2024.

West Ham faces a charge for failing to control their players, while Tottenham also faces the same charge due to player misconduct in the 82nd minute.

Kudus received a straight red card for violent conduct after kicking Tottenham’s Van de Ven and slapping Pape Matar Sarr.

Consequently, he will miss West Ham’s upcoming matches against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton.

Kudus initially gave West Ham an early lead by converting a cross from Jarrod Bowen. However, Tottenham equalized through Dejan Kulusevski, with James Maddison providing the assist. After halftime, Yves Bissouma put Tottenham ahead with a pass from Destiny Udogie. The match was sealed with an own goal by West Ham’s goalkeeper Alphonse Areola and a goal by Son Heung-min.

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has suggested that Kudus may face additional match bans for his involvement in the altercation.

The former EPL Mike Dean commented:

“When you look at the footage, he could have been sent off for the first incident alone.”

Dean further suggested that the FA could extend Kudus’ suspension.

Counsellor Lutterodt labels men who conduct DNA tests on their kids as mentally unstable

Counsellor Lutterodt has taken a strong stance against men who opt for DNA tests to determine the paternity of their children.

Speaking during an appearance on “U Cook” with gospel singer Empress Gifty, he questioned the necessity and value of such tests, suggesting that they undermine trust in relationships.

He criticised men who resort to DNA tests, labelling their actions as senseless and unnecessary.

He said, “People who conduct DNA tests have mental health issues. What are you doing the DNA tests for? I have no use for DNA tests.”

Referring to ex-footballer Nii Odartey Lamptey’s paternity issue with his ex-wife, Counsellor Lutterodt revealed that he would not be upset if his wife cheated and became pregnant by another man.

He added: “Why would I cry if my wife cheated on me and got pregnant? I have always said that I won’t be bothered if my wife has an affair with another man. I have been married to her for 26 years, so why would I cry if she cheats on me once? She understood what she did.”

Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia – Reports

Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, has been diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML), as reported by NBC News on Monday, citing sources.

Currently incarcerated at Rikers Island in New York, Weinstein is undergoing treatment for this type of bone marrow cancer while facing trial for rape charges.

Craig Rothfeld, his legal healthcare representative, refrained from commenting on his health status to respect Weinstein’s privacy, as reported by Reuters.

Weinstein, 72, has faced numerous health issues. His legal team previously disclosed that he was hospitalized in September for heart surgery after being transported from Rikers Island.

Having denied any non-consensual sexual encounters, Weinstein was convicted of rape in February 2020, a case that significantly fueled the #MeToo movement.

However, in April, the New York Court of Appeals overturned his conviction, ruling that he did not receive a fair trial due to a judge improperly allowing testimony from accusers with whom he had not been formally charged.

Weinstein is currently awaiting a retrial and faces additional criminal charges from an earlier indictment, to which he has pleaded not guilty. This includes another first-degree criminal sexual act charge and a third-degree rape charge. In September, he also pleaded not guilty to a new charge of sexual assault.

His representatives have previously stated that Weinstein struggles with various health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid accumulation in his heart and lungs.

During an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, Eugene opened up about his unusual yet highly effective approach to songwriting—one that involves early mornings, a bathroom routine, and, believe it or not, speakers installed in his shower.

The musician, known for hits like “Angela” and “Wish Me Well,” explained that his creative juices start flowing as soon as he steps into the bathroom each morning. “I wake up around 5:30 AM, head to the bathroom, and that’s where most of my ideas come to me,” he said with a smile.

A shower studio? Yes, you heard right! Eugene’s bathroom isn’t just for hygiene—it’s a mini music studio! He revealed that he listens to his work on repeat while showering, thanks to speakers he’s installed to perfect his sound. “It really helps me refine my work before I finalise anything,” Eugene shared.

The quirky admission caught Andy Dosty off guard. “Speakers in the bathroom? That’s a first for me!” the radio host exclaimed, laughing. Eugene’s approach, though unusual, highlights his deep passion for music, which he said extends into every part of his daily life—even the shower.

“I’ve had friends and fellow musicians look at me funny when they see how serious I am about my music—everywhere,” he laughed.

Influenced by all music Kuami Eugene’s dedication doesn’t stop at refining his own tracks. When asked if he listens to music from other artists, he responded enthusiastically. “Of course! I enjoy all genres of music, and it influences my own process. Listening to others helps me evolve as an artiste.”

But perhaps the most entertaining moment came when Eugene confessed that his creative bursts sometimes lead to unexpected situations. “There’ve been times I get a song idea in the shower, and I’ve rushed out, even in the nude, just to record a spontaneous thought!” His honesty sent both Dosty and the audience into fits of laughter.

Don’t advise me; I’m the coach, not you – Hearts of Oak coach clashes with journalists

Hearts of Oak coach Aboubakar Ouattara clashed with journalists following his side’s goalless draw against Dreams FC on Sunday.

The Phobians were hoping for a back-to-back win against the Still Believe lads in the Matchday 7 game at the Tuba AstroTurf.

However, the game ended goalless after 90 minutes of football.

Ouattara’s remarks followed a question on the team’s tactics, with the Ivorian manager emphasising his sole authority over the team’s decisions.

“I am the coach, and I’m the one to decide. I don’t need you to advise me on what I can or cannot do. The way you’re speaking suggests you have the right to dictate something,” he said.

“You’re a journalist. You ask your questions, and I give you my reply. Don’t expect me to give the response you want—I am the coach.”

“I am responsible for tomorrow’s match. If things don’t go well, I’m the one who signed the contract, not you. I don’t follow any commentary when making my decisions.”

The result means that Hearts of Oak remain unbeaten in their last five games, though they have managed to secure just two victories during this stretch.

Meanwhile, Dreams FC are still without a win after seven matches. Hearts of Oak will now turn their attention to their next fixture, hosting Bibiani GoldStars at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 27, for Matchday 8 of the league.

It’s painful, but let’s allow God and time to take their course – McBrown on East Legon accident

Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown has spoken on the recent fatal accident that occurred at East Legon involving the 16-year-old son of Pastor Salifu Amoako of Alive Chapel Ministries International.

Speaking on Onua Showtime on October 20, McBrown shared her condolences with the bereaved families praying for God’s strength in this time of their lives.

Acknowledging their pains, she admonished the parents of the late 12 year old girls to allow God and time take course in their healing from their trauma.

She noted that, “When I put myself in our father’s shoes, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of pity for him. No parent punishes their child simply for being stubborn. While I’m not here to defend him or anyone else, it’s clear that the loss of these young lives is incredibly painful.

Regardless of which family may have had more children, the real issue lies in the tragic circumstances that led to their deaths. This must be unimaginably traumatic for their parents. All I can say is that we must let time and God heal this pain, allowing them to find peace in the future.”

She shared her personal connection with the pastor, stating that he is like family to her. She also called on Ghanaians to keep him in their prayers during this difficult time.

“Bishop Salifu is like an uncle to me because he grew up in Kwadaso, and I saw him when he was starting his church. He is a very good man.

Even if you hate him, this is not the time for you to gloat. I also pray that God strengthens him because he is going through a lot,” she said.

Also, Rev. Obofour, Founder and Leader of Anointed Palace Chapel, has made a heartfelt plea to the families of the victims involved in the East Legon accident, urging them to extend forgiveness to Pastor Salifu Amoako.

In one of his sermons, Rev. Obofour emphasised that Pastor Salifu is a compassionate individual, deserving of empathy and understanding from the public.

He called for mercy, highlighting that Pastor Salifu is not a malicious person, and asked for Ghanaians to show leniency during this challenging time.

GACL set to revamp Terminal 2 for both local and international flights – Report

Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is preparing to revamp and enhance Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport to accommodate both domestic and international passengers.

Sources familiar with the project report that this redesign is intended to facilitate the transfer of all African-registered airlines from the more advanced Terminal 3 (T3) to Terminal 2 (T2).

To handle both types of passengers effectively, GACL plans significant upgrades to T2, particularly to ensure proper segregation of domestic and international travellers.

However, this proposed shift has been met with opposition from the affected airlines, which argue that it would give an unfair advantage to other competitors operating out of the more modern and spacious T3.

Despite this resistance, GACL is determined to proceed with the plan, citing the need for operational efficiency and better management of the airport’s growing passenger traffic.

    GACL September meeting with airlines

The Ghana Airports Company Limited in September informed airlines servicing the KIA that it plans to relocate all regional airlines from Terminal 3 (T3) to T2 as part of efforts to “decongest” T3 and revitalize T2 of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The exercise targets African-registered airlines including EgyptAir, Ethiopian Airlines SAA, RwandAir, Air Cote D’Ivoire, ASKY Airlines, Ibom Air, Air Peace, and Africa World Airlines (AWA) among others.

The GACL tabled an effective date of December 1, 2024. The affected airlines, on the other hand, raised issues about the short time frame and the need to ensure that facilities at Terminal 2 were up to the highest standard since their passengers also pay a significant amount as Airport Passenger Service Charge as their other African and non-African carriers.

    Background

On Monday, October 8, 2018, domestic airline operations at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra were relocated from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, which had previously served international flights. This shift was prompted by the successful transition of all international flights from Terminal 2 to the newly built Terminal 3.

As a result, passengers traveling between Accra and regional destinations with operational airports, such as Kumasi, Takoradi, Tamale, Sunyani, and Wa, were now required to go through check-in and boarding procedures at Terminal 2.

Meanwhile, Terminal 1, which had previously been used for domestic flights, was leased to McDan Aviation Ghana Limited for Private Jet services and operations as a Fixed Base Operator (FBO).

Kasoa ritual murder case: Court fines absentee juror

An Accra High Court has imposed a fine on Harry Don Atipo, a juror in the Kasoa teenagers ritual murder case, due to his absence during a crucial hearing.

His absence disrupted the court’s proceedings, which were ready for summing up and judgment, and forced the adjournment of the case to October 24, 2024.

Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, who presided over the case, fined Atipo GHC1,200 for holding up the legal process.

Atipo must pay the fine before the rescheduled hearing, while his fellow jurors decided to forfeit their sitting and transport allowances for the day.

When the case was called, the jury foreman informed the court of Atipo’s absence, noting that he was out of the jurisdiction but had promised to attend the next hearing.

The judge pointed out that Atipo had previously indicated he would be present, adding to the frustration of the court.

This move underscores the court’s emphasis on jurors’ responsibility and the significant consequences of their absenteeism in such high-stakes trials.

“So, he has succeeded in holding all of us to ransom, people take everybody for granted in this country. Mr. Atipo did not give any excuse for his absence,” the court said.

Samuel Atuah, the defense lawyer representing the 18-year-old accused in the Kasoa Teenagers Ritual Murder case, requested the court to waive the juror Harry Don Atipo’s fine. Atuah argued that imposing the fine could deter Atipo from appearing at the next adjourned date, which could further affect the trial.

However, the presiding judge, Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, emphasized that she was acting in accordance with the law, and had previously warned the jurors about the consequences of absenteeism.

The accused, an 18-year-old and his 15-year-old accomplice, face charges of conspiracy and murder in connection with the death of 10-year-old Ishmael Abdalla, who was killed in Kasoa for ritual purposes.

  • Parliament security sneaked in Annoh-Dompreh to occupy Majority side – Agbodza claims

Minority Chief Whip and Adaklu MP, Kwame Governs Agbodza has accused Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Majority Whip, of breaching parliamentary protocols by being secretly escorted into Parliament early on Tuesday, October 22.

In an interview with Citi FM’s Nana Tuffour Boateng, Agbodza claimed that Annoh-Dompreh was allowed into the chamber before the stipulated opening time of 8:00 am, as per a circular issued on October 21.

He further alleged that Parliament’s security team had assisted in facilitating Annoh-Dompreh’s entry, which violated the official guidelines. Agbodza raised concerns that this could create unnecessary tension when Parliament officially reconvened later in the morning at 10:00 am.

These claims highlight growing unease between the Majority and Minority, raising questions about fairness and the adherence to established procedures in Parliament.

“Parliament issued a circular that the Chamber be opened at 8 am, yet the security apparatus of this country connived and opened the doors for Annoh-Dompreh to enter the Chamber. I am here, and I see him inside with the doors locked. The question is, how did he get in there?” Agbodza remarked.

The Adaklu MP further warned that if any disturbances occur during the day’s proceedings, the blame should be placed squarely on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs and Parliament’s security.

“I can’t assure orderliness when Annoh-Dompreh has broken the law and is currently sitting in the Chamber and the security apparatus is not making any attempts to remove him.”

Annoh-Dompreh, however, said the decision of who sits on which side of the House lies in the bosom of the Speaker of Parliament and no other personnel.

“We have also given the strongest indication that we will occupy the Majority side of the House and the orderliness in the Chamber and the precinct of Parliament lie in the bosom of the Speaker.”

  • CDD cautions Bagbin to comply with Supreme Court ruling on MPs vacant seat

CDD cautions Bagbin to comply with Supreme Court ruling on MPs vacant seat

Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has called on Parliament, including Speaker Alban Bagbin, to strictly adhere to the Supreme Court’s recent rulings regarding the status of four contested parliamentary seats.

This appeal follows the Court’s stay on the Speaker’s earlier declaration of those seats as vacant, which arose after Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson invoked constitutional provisions regarding MPs who change their political affiliations.

In its statement, CDD-Ghana acknowledged the legal dispute triggered by the Speaker’s actions and the Majority Leader’s petition to the Supreme Court, which resulted in a temporary halt to the Speaker’s decision.

The Center emphasized the importance of Parliament cooperating fully with the judiciary to ensure that the rule of law is respected, particularly as the 2024 elections approach. It warned that any non-compliance with the Court’s directives could risk destabilising the political landscape.

CDD-Ghana further urged Parliament to file all necessary legal documents within the Court’s specified deadlines and stressed the need for all parties to act with responsibility and respect for Ghana’s constitutional framework.

While Parliament retains the right to seek a review of the Court’s decision, the Center underscored that adherence to the Court’s orders is crucial for maintaining political stability and upholding democratic principles.

Below is the full statement by CDD-Ghana

The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has closely monitored recent developments in Parliament since October 15, 2024, when the Minority Leader, Hon. Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, invoked Article 97(1)(g) of the 1992 Constitution to raise concerns about the presumed vacation of four (4) parliamentary seats.

The Centre equally followed the Speaker of Parliament’s subsequent declaration on October 17, 2024, that vacancies had indeed occurred concerning the seats of those four (4) MPs—two (2) from the NPP, one from the NDC, and one independent.

The Centre has also followed, with keen interest, Majority Leader Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s application to the Supreme Court challenging the Speaker’s authority to declare the vacancies and the Court’s subsequent intervention on October 18, 2024, staying the Speaker’s ruling and directing Parliament to allow the affected MPs to continue with the performance of their duties until the case is fully determined.

We have taken due notice of the instruction given to the Speaker and the Attorney General to file their statements of case within seven (7) days of service, followed by a joint memorandum of issues for hearing.

CDD-Ghana acknowledges the diversity of views in the public discourse surrounding this issue, particularly the legal opinions regarding both the Speaker’s actions and the Supreme Court’s intervention. Without a doubt, this situation presents a novel challenge to Ghana’s constitutional practice. It requires careful and sensitive handling to prevent the onset of constitutional and political turmoil, particularly as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.

The Center strongly urges all Members of Parliament, political parties, the Executive, and the media to act with maximum restraint, a sense of responsibility, and respect for the letter and spirit of the constitutional principles and processes that underpin Ghana’s democracy.

It implores all stakeholders to prioritise the preservation of the nation’s peace and stability and work diligently to avoid a recurrence of the regrettable scenes witnessed during the Speaker’s election on January 7, 2021.

To deescalate the current tension and uphold the rule of law, CDD-Ghana encourages the Speaker and Parliament to fully comply with the Supreme Court’s directions, notwithstanding disagreements with the ruling. The timely filing of the required legal documents will ensure the case proceeds swiftly and help provide clarity and resolution. The Speaker and Parliament also retain the option to seek a review of the Court’s decision, should it find it necessary.

Looking ahead, CDD-Ghana calls for a deep reflection on the relevant constitutional provisions governing parliamentary seats, especially during election years. It is vital to ensure that remedies are available for affected individuals and parties without plunging the nation into legal or political uncertainty.

Additionally, CDD-Ghana believes that all outstanding cases seeking to disqualify any candidate from the upcoming elections should be resolved expeditiously. This will ensure that no candidate is unfairly deprived of their rights or opportunity to contest, maintaining fairness in the electoral process.

In the spirit of national unity, we urge all Ghanaians to remain calm, respect the judicial process, and continue to uphold peace as we collectively safeguard Ghana’s democracy.

  • Heavy security at Parliament ahead of sitting amidst constitutional impasse

Heavy security at Parliament ahead of sitting amidst constitutional impasse

Parliament has ramped up security measures for all sessions starting Tuesday, October 22, in response to the ongoing debate surrounding the constitutional status of four parliamentary seats.

This decision comes after recent political and legal developments, where Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson challenged the validity of these seats under Article 97(1)(g) of the 1992 Constitution.

On October 17, Speaker Alban Bagbin declared the seats vacant, but the Supreme Court intervened the following day, temporarily suspending the ruling and allowing the MPs to continue their duties until a final verdict is reached.

To safeguard the Speaker, MPs, and staff during these sensitive times, Parliament announced enhanced security measures in a press release signed by Frederick Bawa (retired), the Deputy Marshall of Parliament.

These steps include strict screening of all MPs, staff, and journalists before they enter the Chamber. Bodyguards will also be prohibited from entering the Chamber during the sessions.

In addition, parking restrictions will be enforced around the Grand Arena, with MPs required to use designated drop-off zones at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). The Ghana Police Service will manage these arrangements and direct MPs to appropriate areas.

MPs must wear their identification tags for quick verification, and entry to the Chamber will be allowed from 8:00 a.m. Public access to the gallery has been temporarily suspended to prevent public attendance at parliamentary sessions, further reducing the chances of disruption during these potentially heated discussions.

These measures are intended to ensure order and mitigate any possible tensions during this critical period.

“Respectfully counting on the cooperation of all,” the statement read, urging all MPs and staff to comply with the new guidelines to ensure the smooth and secure continuation of parliamentary business.

These enhanced security measures come at a critical time as the nation awaits further developments on the constitutional challenges in Parliament.

With heightened public interest in the case, it is expected that these restrictions will help maintain calm and order within the legislative body.

Urology and Neurology centre: Proof of govt’s vow to boost healthcare delivery – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the newly constructed state-of-the-art Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

On Friday, October 18, 2024, the president inaugurated a state-of-the-art Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, marking a major step forward in Ghana’s healthcare system.

The new centre is set to provide critical care for patients suffering from urological and nephrological conditions, offering advanced treatments that were previously unavailable in the country.

The facility is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel abroad for specialised care while also positioning Ghana as a hub for medical tourism in the West African sub-region.

The Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence, constructed at a cost of €38 million, was made possible through a credit facility provided by Raiffeisen Bank International AG of Austria, with insurance cover from OeKB Group.

The facility boasts cutting-edge technology and a wide range of services aimed at addressing the growing burden of kidney diseases and urological disorders in the country.

President Akufo-Addo described the commissioning of the Centre as a “considerable milestone” in Ghana’s healthcare journey, one that exemplifies the government’s unwavering commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure.

“This modern facility will provide advanced treatments for patients with chronic and acute kidney failures, as well as other urological conditions. The Centre is also positioned to offer life-saving services such as kidney transplants—helping to fulfil our national objective of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC),” the President said during his speech.

The Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence is fully equipped to deliver comprehensive healthcare services. It includes a 30-suite dialysis station for patients with kidney disorders, a 70-bed unit for genito-urinary patients, an outpatient department, and comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services.

The facility also has inpatient care services, administrative and management offices, public amenities, and staff facilities. In addition, it features medical and non-medical support services, a research facility, and a three-year post-construction maintenance and training program to ensure the facility’s smooth operation in the years ahead.

With such state-of-the-art capabilities, the Centre will be able to serve not only Ghanaians but also patients from neighbouring countries. This opens the door for medical tourism, which President Akufo-Addo emphasised as a potential revenue generator for the facility.

“The Centre will put Ghana on the map for medical tourism, providing services to patients from neighbouring countries and beyond. This will generate additional revenue for the facility, ensuring sustainability and continued expansion of services,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo said his government has long prioritised healthcare development as part of its broader goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for all Ghanaians. The commissioning of the Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence, he said, is just one example of the many initiatives aimed at improving access to quality healthcare across the country.

During his speech, the President pointed to some significant strides he says his administration has made in healthcare infrastructure, citing the successful commissioning of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital in August 2024 as a recent example.

By the close of 2024, he said, the government expects to complete several additional healthcare projects, including the construction of 11 district hospitals and one polyclinic in the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, and Ahafo Regions.

These projects are part of the government’s flagship “Agenda 111” initiative, which aims to build district hospitals in every district without one, as well as fully functional regional hospitals in each regional capital, particularly in the newly created regions.

Video: Watch Kudus’ violent conduct during Spurs clash that led to his red card

Ghanaian footballer Mohammed Kudus saw his first red card in the Premier League during West Ham United’s loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Kudus was sent off in the 86th minute for violent behaviour, which included kicking Micky van de Ven and striking Pape Matar Sarr.

This incident means he will be suspended for West Ham’s upcoming fixtures against Manchester United, Nottingham Forest, and Everton.

Earlier in the game, Kudus had opened the scoring for West Ham by finishing off a cross from Jarrod Bowen.

However, Tottenham equalised through Dejan Kulusevski with an assist from James Maddison.

Tottenham then took control in the second half, with Yves Bissouma netting a goal following a pass from Destiny Udogie.

An own goal by West Ham’s Alphonse Areola and a late strike from Son Heung-Min rounded off Tottenham’s 4-1 victory.

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean suggested that Kudus could face additional disciplinary action for the altercation.

Former Premier League referee Mike Dean commented:

“When you look at the footage, he could have been sent off for the first incident alone.”

Dean further suggested that the FA could extend Kudus’ suspension.

“Because he hit two different players in the face, I think the FA will act on both [and the suspension extended],” Dean explained.

    Agenda 111 project 69% complete – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo provided an update on the Agenda 111 initiative, revealing that eight district hospitals are nearing completion.

He noted that as of September 2024, the overall progress of the project stands at 69%. The president expressed optimism that a number of these hospitals, which are over 90% finished, would be fully completed before the end of the year.

“These projects represent the fulfilment of our commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage and ensuring the delivery of more efficient healthcare services across the country,” the president remarked.

On Friday, October 18, 2024, the president inaugurated a state-of-the-art Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

“Our healthcare infrastructure stands as one of the greatest legacies of my administration,” he added.

The Akufo-Addo administration has made strides in improving healthcare infrastructure and is now prioritising the fair distribution of healthcare personnel, especially in rural and underserved regions.

President Akufo-Addo has called on the Ministry of Health to fast-track the finalisation of an incentive package aimed at encouraging healthcare workers to serve in areas where they are critically needed.

This initiative is part of the government’s larger plan to ensure more equitable access to healthcare services nationwide.

“We remain steadfast in addressing the uneven distribution of healthcare workers,” the president said.

“I urge the Ministry of Health to expedite the completion of the draft incentive package for government consideration, ensuring that healthcare staff are placed where they are most needed.”

According by to him, if he leaves Lynx, he and the record label will release an official communication to that effect.

Nearly all artists that performed at Medikal’s Indigo show self-financed – OK Frimpong

Ohene Kwame Frimpong, the mastermind behind Medikal’s sold-out concert at the Indigo at the O2, recently shared insights into the level of support he received from the artists who took the stage.

Speaking with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, OK Frimpong, who is running as an independent candidate for the Asante Akyem North Constituency, revealed that nearly all the performers covered their own expenses for the event.

“All the acts that came to support Medikal—it’s just about two of them that we had to pay for some things, hotel and a few things.

Nearly all the artists involved in the event managed their own financial arrangements, with one notable exception: Shatta Wale. “We didn’t provide any financial support for him; I can only mention him in that context,” he stated, clarifying that he did not even cover their performance fees.

The concert took place in London on May 3, 2024, featuring a lineup that included popular acts such as Sarkodie, Sister Derby, Jah Bahd, and Efya, alongside Shatta Wale.

Reflecting on his experiences, OK Frimpong recalled his first UK event in 2018, which featured Amakye Dede and Kuami Eugene but ultimately fell short of expectations due to his lack of familiarity with the event space.

However, he learned from that experience and enjoyed success with later projects, including Medikal’s concert in London.

Ohene Frimpong is not only an entrepreneur and philanthropist but also a visionary leader with a keen interest in media and the arts. He is running as an independent candidate for the Asante Akyem North constituency in the upcoming 2024 elections.

  • Piesie Esther ‘shocked’ at how arrest photo of Serwaa Amihere was leaked

Piesie Esther ‘shocked’ at how arrest photo of Serwaa Amihere was leaked

Gospel artist Piesie Esther and media figure Serwaa Amihere recently discussed their responses to the false reports of Serwaa’s arrest by the police.

On October 14, 2024, Blogger Nkonkonsa shared a screenshot of a video showing Serwaa in handcuffs and being escorted by police, claiming she had been arrested.

The post quickly ignited a flurry of reactions on social media. However, the Ghana Police Service soon clarified that the reports were inaccurate, revealing that the video was actually from a music video shoot featuring Piesie Esther.

During an interview on GhOne TV on October 18, 2024, the two opened up about how the rumours spread and how they felt about the situation.

Piesie Esther recalled her shock upon first learning about the news while she was live on a radio station.

“By the time I came out of the studio, there were a lot of calls and messages. Then I started flipping out, ‘What is going on here?’” she said.

She was puzzled about how the picture ended up on a popular blog site. Concerned for her friend, Piesie Esther immediately called Serwaa Amihere to check on her.

Serwaa reassured her, saying, “Oh, sis, don’t worry. It’s nothing. Don’t worry. You calm down.”

When asked by the interviewer if she was bothered by the rumours of her arrest, Serwaa confidently said she wasn’t, stressing, “Because I was not.”

The interviewer then enquired if Serwaa felt relieved when the Ghana Police Service issued a communiqué clarifying that she had not been arrested.

Serwaa humorously replied, “I didn’t know I was that important,” followed by a laugh.

Piesie Esther added that she wasn’t concerned about the misinformation, stating, “We knew what was in the post. We knew that it was just a video. So I wasn’t bothered about it.”

Rev. Obofour pleads with bereaved families to forgive Salifu Amoako over son’s accident

Founder and Leader of Anointed Palace Chapel, Reverend Kwaku Agyei Antwi, has issued a poignant call for forgiveness on behalf of Bishop Salifu Amoako regarding the recent tragedy involving the young girls who lost their lives in an accident in East Legon.

During a Sunday service held in his church auditorium, Rev. Obofour, as he is commonly known, urged the bereaved families to find it in their hearts to forgive the bishop’s son for his role in the incident.

He emphasized that Bishop Amoako is also enduring immense pain during this challenging time, similar to the grief experienced by the families mourning their loved ones. Rev. Obofour stressed that Salifu Amoako is fundamentally a good person who deserves compassion and understanding from the Ghanaian community.

“What has happened can befall anyone. He has rendered an apology to the bereaved families to be forgiven. He is a humble person and I am begging on his behalf to the family to forgive him. It is not easy to lose your child.

“I am on my knees begging for him. Forgive him because he is not a bad person. He knows the teachings of God and that what has happened to him is just trouble that has come his way. This is not the time for some pastors to rise and fight against him [Salifu Amoako]. Let us all Christians rise up and pray for him and his family,” he said.

Rev. Obofour emphasized that he remains impartial while advocating for Salifu Amoako and is not attempting to favor either side. He also shared that his son is a classmate of the girls who lost their lives in the tragic incident.

“My son attends the same school as the deceased girls. I’m not speaking to take sides; I speak neutrally, and I’m begging Ghanaians to have mercy on the man [Salifu]. Since he started his ministry, he has served God in truth, and so we plead that every pain and anger that has risen due to the case must be calmed.

“These past few days, Salifu Amoako has gone through a lot because he has been crying and is going through pain. Let us not persecute and backlash him because of what he has said or what has happened but rather look at all the years he has served God in truth,” he added.

Meanwhile, Bishop Salifu Amoako, General Overseer of Alive Chapel International Ministry, has come under intense backlash for comments that many Ghanaians have deemed insensitive.

Addressing his congregants on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Salifu Amoako stated in a video posted on X by CITI FM and seen by GhanaWeb, “It was an accident. My son did not carry a gun to go and kill somebody. My son involved himself in a terrible accident. I was not the one who did it. Neither his mother.

“It is because of my name; that is why the thing is going everywhere. If this car had hit an Okada, who is going to mention it? It is just because of my name. So let’s see what the Lord will do.”
