Mr Bakhurst said that the broadcaster would stop hiring new employees right away.

Mr Bakhurst has been running the organization since July, replacing former director general Dee Forbes.
She quit because of a scandal involving a questionable payment right before Mr. Bakhurst was going to start. Mr Bakhurst and the RTÉ board are being asked more questions by politicians about the organization’s money situation.

Rajaa Acherhri was famous in her villagefor being very smart at math. When she was just six years old, she enjoyed solving difficult problems that were meant for older students. Her sister Sanaa also had large aspirations. She wanted to be a doctor, her mother, Fatema, told CNN.
On Friday night after eating dinner, the girls were relaxing and sitting close together in their house. Rajaa is sleeping after a tiring day at school. Sanaa, who is 12 years old, is using her phone to play.
All of a sudden, the Earth began to shake really hard. Fatema was cleaning in the kitchen when her house suddenly started falling apart. She said she jumped towards her daughters, but was heartbroken when she saw them being crushed by a falling piece of the ceiling. Both disappeared immediately.
The day after, she laid them to rest with 19 others who also died in Tinzert, a small village high up in the mountains of Morocco.

The path to Tinzert is very thin and goes up at a steep angle. It is now difficult to drive to many parts of the village.
The villagers are moving through the wreckage by climbing over it. The children are also helping by carrying things and jumping from one large piece of debris to another.
After three days of living like this, everyone learns the paths through the ruins. The streets are no longer there. They have been replaced by dangerous paths on the pile of debris.
Assistance has been delayed in reaching the mountains, and for now, it mostly involves volunteers from all over Morocco driving their private cars with supplies of food and water.

The way is closed with big stones. Ait Bensoli said it is impossible to go through in a car.
Edabdelah lives with his grandparents who are old. They couldn’t go with him, so Ait Bensoli had to take Edabdelah to the hospital.
One of their neighbors gave them a ride to the part of the road that was blocked. They got out and had to walk for about 20 minutes over the big rocks and debris that were blocking the way.
After passing through that area, they were able to get a ride to Asni, a town located about two hours southwest of Marrakech. On Monday morning, a field hospital was set up there.
Edabdelah had a hard time talking when they arrived. The long and exhausting trip made him feel very painful and uncomfortable. He couldn’t use his arm and his face looked twisted every time he tried to move it.
The doctors in Asni put a brace on Edabdelah’s shoulder to keep it still and gave him very strong medicine to help with the pain. They told him he would start to feel better in about two weeks, then let him go, focusing on the next person in line to be treated.

Sanaa, the young child, really wanted to go to the hammam, a special bath in Morocco, on Friday. Her dad is a builder in Marrakech and he only comes back home on weekends.
Acherhri, with tears in her eyes, told CNN that she just wanted to look clean and beautiful when he came.
She said that she felt something odd when Sanaa asked her to apply henna on her feet last week.
“I told her she was too young to get henna, but she insisted that she wanted to look beautiful and visit Ourika,” she said.
Ourika is a pretty place in the Atlas Mountains, with lots of plants, waterfalls and big trees. People who live there think the place is absolutely amazing.
“She believed something bad was going to happen, and she believed she was going to a better place,” she said.

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama‘s remarks regarding the government’s decision to raise the cocoa bag price to GH₵1,300.
Mahama had labeled the government as “insensitive” to farmers’ concerns, asserting that the increase fell short.
In a statement dated September 12, COCOBOD CEO Joseph Boahen Aidoo suggested that Mahama should be well-acquainted with the cocoa producer price determination process.
Aidoo clarified that for the 2023/24 crop, cocoa had been sold at international prices ranging from $2,200 to $2,400 per tonne between October 2022 and March 2023.
“Since you have had the privilege of being in government before as the number one gentleman of the country, it is expected that you would be familiar with the process for determining the producer price of cocoa.
“I am, therefore, surprised that you chose, rather erroneously, to use the current international market price of cocoa at $3,600 per tonne as the basis for your calculation in your post on the recently announced producer”.
It was reported by COCOBOD that the 2023/24 crop was sold at international prices between October 2022 and March 2023, ranging between $2,200 per tonne and $2,400 per tonne.
“You are fully aware that Ghana’s cocoa beans are mostly sold forward. This means that the 2023/24 crop was sold between October 2022 and March 2023 at international prices; ranging between $2,200 per tonne and $2,400 per tonne. The international price of cocoa then began to increase in April 2023, when a greater percentage of the 2023/24 crop had already been sold,” COCOBOD said in its statement.

Expressing concern about reports of illegal encroachments on large-scale mining company properties, the Minister highlighted two crucial pillars that, if fully and effectively implemented, could help address the issue of encroachment on large-scale mining concessions.

“Because there is nowhere in any civilised country like you go to India and they are showing Ghanaian soap opera on TV but they’re using India language to do the interpretation. Or maybe you go to Britain and they’ll be showing Ghanaian soap opera on their popular TV station with their language, it doesn’t happen and it’s only Ghana.”

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled three policies aimed at strengthening the bond between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) grassroots and the party’s leadership if he secures the flagbearer position and wins the presidency in the 2024 elections.
One of these initiatives is the “One Constituency – One Godfather and Mother” program, alongside two others. Bawumia initially introduced the “One Constituency – Ten Appointments” policy and intends to add “One Constituency – One Welfare Office” as the third.
During a campaign stop in the Oti Region, Bawumia explained that these policies are in response to concerns raised by party loyalists who feel excluded from the governance process when the NPP comes into power.

In addition to implementing Pillar 1 of the Basel II/III framework in 2018, the Central Bank intends to advance its regulatory reform agenda by collaborating with the Ghana Association of Banks to roll out Pillar 2 of the Basel II/III capital framework. This framework ensures that banks maintain sufficient capital to mitigate all significant risks inherent in their operations.
Dr. Addison mentioned that regulatory guidance will be provided in various aspects of Pillar 2, including Liquidity Risk Management, Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process, Supervisory Intervention Guidelines, Concentration Risk, and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book.
Furthermore, the Governor announced the successful completion of industry training on all seven Ghana Sustainable Banking Principles. This training, encompassing Principles 1 and 2 in 2020 and 2022, respectively, concluded in July 2023 with Principles 3-7. The attendees included Chief Risk Officers, Chief Compliance Officers, and Sustainability Officers from various banks.
Dr. Addison anticipates that this training will lead to enhanced industry reporting on these principles. The Ghana Sustainable Banking Principles and Sector Guidance Notes aim to incorporate environmental considerations, social inclusion, and good governance into banks’ lending decisions. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare appeared before the Parliamentary Committee investigating the leaked tape, which allegedly contains plans to remove him from his position.
The committee, led by Samuel Atta Akyea, questioned the IGP in the presence of three previous witnesses – COP George Alex Mensah, Superintendents George Asare, and Gyebi – despite objections from his legal team, who initially argued against their attendance.
After a debate, the Chairman overruled the objection, stating that their presence would not harm the IGP, and neither they nor their lawyers would interrupt. Dampare, accompanied by his legal team and senior members of the Ghana Police Service, eventually agreed to provide his testimony.
When Atta Akyea asked the first question about whether Dampare had listened to the tape in question, he responded:
“Hon. Chair thank you and thank you to the members of the Committee. I will like to say that Hon. Chair, if you would permit me, I will like to make a few opening remarks. Hon. Chair, there have been a lot of issues about my person and I will like take the opportunity to speak to a few of them, for about the next three to five minutes…”
The initially planned three-to-five-minute remarks stretched into a comprehensive 20-minute presentation, during which he provided uninterrupted explanations, clarifications, debunked falsehoods, redirected the narrative, and addressed various allegations concerning both himself and the police service under his leadership.
Subsequently, he fielded questions from other committee members on a variety of issues that had been raised against him.
“Honourable chair, I am here, being asked to answer to wild, unsubstantiated allegations by my brothers, in order to cover up their shame, I am ready, I thank you,” were his closing remarks before members of the committee started fielding questions.

“We have no dealings or contract with him [Chief Bugri Naabu].”

“If anybody comes to say that ‘you are the worst IGP’ is unfounded, it’s unfortunate and I think the best the person could have done if he has nothing to say is probably keep quiet and allow the good people of this country to make a determination on us.

“It is not about Dampare, it is about the police administration. The Police is not a sole-proprietorship, it is an institution with governance and management structures.
“Dampare is just one of the officers involved in the governance of the management structure. So that is what it is. We work in concept and make sure that all decisions that we need to make we take as a group. When it needs the attention of the Police Council we get that as well,” Dr. Dampare stated.
“That is the level of team work that we have brought to bear on the work that we do. So it isn’t about Dampare, it is about an institution that we have decided to work together with.
5. Product of political lobbying
“In terms of my ranking in the police service, it has been purely based on my competencies, academic qualifications and hard work because of the passion I have for the work. I have not at any point in time been called aside by any individual and granted me any favour that I do not deserve.
“In terms of positions I have held, I have been virtually across every command within the service, and at a point because of my commitment to work, I was handling multiple schedules at the national headquarters.
“This is because if you give me a work, you just have to consider it done because that is me I get things done and I work around teams to get them done on the basis of Genesis 1:26,” he added.
6. Behind recording and leak of viral tape?
“Hon. Chair, that is not true,” he responded to a pointed question on whether he contracted Bugri Naabu to record his colleagues subsequent to which he leaked same.
In an earlier submission he stressed: “My brothers we were given the opportunity to come and speak (of the leaked tape) and made the indication that they are involved and all of a sudden instead of them focusing on that, they come out with wind allegations.
“Wild allegations that touch my person, the police leadership that I lead and the entire police service without a shred of evidence,” he said.
7. Recused myself from interdiction process
“I was not part of whatever decision that was taken to interdict or de-interdict anyone. It is a matter that was considered by the Police Council and they handled it in my absence,” he said.
“That is also another thing that people have used to try to get to me. The truth of the matter is this when all these things happened, while we were focused on ensuring that we worked as a team across the country and also across all the other security agencies to continue to maintain peace and security for our beloved country, then you get to a point and these things happened.
“You feel pained that your own brothers can go and do this against you. But you forgive because such is nature and the more you forgive the more you become stronger and preserve your health. So, I moved on but I said that whatever was going on, I recused myself from the process,” he added.
8. IGP cannot decide who becomes president
“Election is a simple matter where each stakeholder plays its role and collectively we end up ensuring that it is over. The people then decide who becomes their leader,” Dr. Dampare stated.
According to him, “So nobody has some supremacy when it comes to its role in ensuring that elections are successful. As far as I am concerned all the stakeholders have to play their role and the point is that because each is unique you cannot even compare to say which is on top and which one is not.
“As far as I’m concerned all the stakeholders have critical roles to play in ensuring that elections are successful. When we all play our roles the people who have the right to vote will then determine who becomes the leaders.”
9. Indiscriminate targeting of politicians
“I work in collaboration with my Officers at POMAB and Commanders nationwide.
“While it has been alleged that I have a tendency to apprehend Politicians for traffic offenses, it is important to clarify that I am not personally involved in any arrests. People are apprehended in accordance with the law by the respective Officers, not by me,” e stated.
10. Withholding promotions
“Honourable chair, if I may say something slightly on that matter because I was going to add a little thing in respect of that question. Because my brother did refer to the privilege I had benefitted from that.
“But the most important thing is that I will be the last person and the very last person to deprive anybody of his promotion. I can’t even think of that,” he said.
“My colleagues who worked with us in the context of the appointment and promotion board, cannot even think of that. We work as a team,” he noted
During an appearance on JoyNews’ PM Express, Cudjoe noted that the IGP’s statements regarding his association with Bugri Naabu, the central figure in the leaked tape controversy, were clear and compelling.
“If there was any shred of doubt about the integrity of the IGP today, it was all put to rest. I mean, I don’t know who probably in his sound mind will still be questioning the IGP’s integrity as far as the allegations go.”
“As far as the conversation about Mr Naabu’s involvement, I mean, he treated it as such. The police have been dealing with a gazillion number of people and interests, they do not have a commercial arrangement with the gentleman.”
Mr. Cudjoe emphasized that Dr. Dampare’s acknowledgment of his acquaintance or lack thereof with Mr. Naabu should not tarnish his integrity.
“He didn’t say he doesn’t know him, he didn’t say that. He says he has no commercial arrangement of interest to discuss with Mr Naabu,” he added.
He emphasized that these claims have inflicted harm not only upon his family but also on the reputation of the police service.
“I feel in my spirit that this is just not fair. Honourable chair, it is just not fair. Are we killing patriotism? That anybody can just get up, make allegations upon allegations, and people who go across the country – at times 48 hours without sleep, just to keep the country at peace – will be called to come and answer allegations that are unfounded?”
In response to the allegations made by two officers during the parliamentary committee probe, IGP Dr. Dampare defended himself. COP Alex Mensah, one of the individuals heard on the tape, made several accusations against the IGP, including claims of obstructing promotions within the service, maintaining frequent contact with former President Mahama, and labeling Dr. Dampare as the worst IGP ever.
Supt. George Asare, also heard on the tape, supported some of COP Mensah’s statements regarding the IGP’s management of the Service. When pressed for further details, he indicated a preference to disclose them in a closed session. However, he asserted that the leaked tape had been edited.
During his appearance before the committee, Dr. Dampare refuted all the allegations made by the officers. He denied any involvement in orchestrating the recording of the leaked tape, which purportedly contained discussions about removing him from his position. He characterized the accusations against him as baseless and lacking evidence.
The report mentioned that many kids were affected, and 56% of the victims were boys. Most of the people who were accused were men.
Scientists from the University of Zurich also discovered proof of a “commonly hidden” situation.
The study’s leaders said that the cases we found are just a small part of a much bigger problem.
Monika Dommann and Marietta Meier worked together to put together the report after investigating for a year. The Church asked them to do this investigation.

Their report said that many officials, such as bishops, did not do enough to help the people who were affected.
Clergy members who were accused of committing abuse were regularly moved to different jobs by people in influential positions. Sometimes, they were even sent to work in other countries to avoid facing legal punishment. This reassignment happened repeatedly and was done on purpose to protect them from prosecution.
This means that the Catholic Church and its leaders cared more about their own interests than the well-being and safety of the people who go to church.
The researchers stated that people’s perspective remained the same until the 21st Century, when different instances of sexual abuse started coming to light.
“We are sad to say that the initial investigation has confirmed what we have noticed and, in some situations, are still going through,” organizations supporting survivors of sexual abuse stated in a statement reacting to the report.
“For many years, the leaders of the Catholic Church in Switzerland have hidden these crimes, shielding the people who committed them and preserving the image of their organization while ignoring the suffering of the victims who were silenced. ”
The leader of the Catholic Church in Switzerland said during a meeting with reporters on Tuesday that they were disappointed with the organization’s actions and felt that they did not provide enough support for the victims.

For a long time, people have been upset about long lines and not being able to find bread and basic things like soap and toilet paper in the stores. This happened because Azerbaijan stopped the Lachin Corridor, saying that Armenia was using it to secretly bring in weapons.
The two countries in the South Caucasus have had two wars since the Soviet Union ended in 1990s.
Karabakh is an area within the borders of Azerbaijan, but Armenia has been in charge of it since 1994. The Azerbaijani forces took back all the land around the small area after the war in 2020.
This has made it more dangerous for ethnic Armenians to feel safe there.
Last week, the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, complained that Russia does not want or cannot control the Lachin Corridor, despite deploying 3000 peacekeepers for the safety of the area.
“We’re seeing that Russia is unexpectedly moving away from the region, and we don’t know the reason,” he said to La Repubblica newspaper.
He said that Russia’s war in Ukraine shows that Russia needs weapons for itself. He also said that Armenia relying on only one source for security was a big mistake.
Armenia said it would hold exercises together with US forces this week. Moscow called these exercises “unfriendly steps”. Russia has a military base in Armenia that is always there.

A representative for the police said today that two people from Britain died in a car crash on the A8 highway near the Balmori exit in Blanes.
They were a pair who were 68 and 65 years old.
They were going west towards the provincial capital Oviedo when the motorbike they were riding on fell over. We still don’t know why it happened and are investigating the reasons.
According to sources, it seems like they were not living in Spain and were probably just visiting on vacation.
It was not clear right away where the two British people were going when they had their sad accident.
Many tourists like to go to Blanes because it is famous for its rough and rocky shoreline. Many people think it is one of the prettiest towns in Spain.
A lot of people from this place moved to the Americas to become rich and some of them came back with lots of money and built big houses called ‘Indianas. ‘
