Search for children missing in South African floods

Two students were taken away by floods in South Africa‘s Eastern Cape province, according to the country’s public broadcaster.

SABC said that some young people got taken away while coming back from school in Ngqeleni.

A team is looking for them to save them, according to SABC.

On Monday, there was a lot of very heavy rain in some areas of the Eastern Cape. This caused the region’s transportation to come to a stop.

Zimkhitha Macingwane, someone who helps run the local government, said that a bridge was washed away by a lot of water.

The South African Weather Service gave a warning on Monday for a strong storm with heavy rain, which caused flooding.

At least 11 people died due to strong rain and winds in the Western Cape province last month.

  • Greed, arrogance, and pride have clouded the judgment of our leaders – Prince David Osei laments

Greed, arrogance, and pride have clouded the judgment of our leaders – Prince David Osei laments

Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei wrote a piece on X (formerly Twitter) lamenting the state and potential future of Ghana.

In a post published on October 16, the actor called attention to the nation’s youth’s propensity for insults and disregard for morals. He pointed out that, especially on various media platforms, insults have come to be the go-to method of expressing opinions.

“I am deeply concerned about the future of Ghana. It pains me to see how we have become a nation of insults, lacking respect for morals. The younger generation finds it acceptable to insult leaders openly on various platforms such as radio, television, and social media. It seems that insults have become the preferred method of expressing opinions,” he said.

He also criticised the actions of those in positions of authority, pointing out their failure to uphold their duties to serve the public. He emphasised the instances of leaders’ pride, greed, and arrogance that have resulted in a lack of accountability while the less fortunate members of society continue to suffer. He also expressed concern about the general sense of apathy among the populace and the youth turning to desperate measures for financial gain.

“Furthermore, those in positions of power appear to have forgotten the responsibility they have to serve the people. Greed, arrogance, and pride have clouded the judgment of our leaders, while the less fortunate continue to suffer without any accountability. The youth of our nation are becoming misguided and desperate, resorting to various means to make money,” he added.

He bemoaned the misappropriation and abuse of public resources as well as the country’s increasing rate of corruption, which he sees as a troubling trend.

“Sadly, it seems that nobody cares anymore. Government properties are misused and abused simply because they belong to the state. This is a distressing situation to witness. The future of our beloved country appears uncertain, with corruption infiltrating every level of society, from the church to the government and beyond,” he posted.

The actor concluded by urging group effort to effect positive change. He urged Ghanaians to adopt new perspectives and conduct themselves differently, stressing that all of the country’s residents, not just a select few, are entitled to citizenship.

Prince David Osei, who had previously supported the ruling party, has turned against it in light of Ghana’s worsening economic situation. Recently, he has been heard urging the government to correct what he has described as shortcomings in its operations.

South Africa invites leader of Hamas to discuss aid

The foreign affairs minister of South Africa talked to the leader of Hamas to discuss providing help to Palestine, said her office.

After a violent group called Hamas carried out a harmful attack on Israel last week, the Israeli army has put a blockade on Gaza. Gaza is a highly populated area where Hamas is centered.

The Foreign Minister of South Africa, Naledi Pandor, spoke on the phone with Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, representing the South African government.

Hamas, not South Africa, started the conversations, according to the office.

Minister Pandor, while talking on the phone, agreed with the government and said that South Africa is on the same side as Palestine. They also expressed feelings of sadness and regret for the innocent people who died in both Palestine and Israel.

“Minister Pandor and the leader of Hamas talked about ways to provide important help to Gaza and other areas of the Palestinian territories. ”

The minister’s office said they did not support the Hamas attack on Israel, contradicting what a local media house reported.

South Africa is one of the few countries that has openly admitted to having conversations with Hamas since the war started last weekend.

Those who abandoned me are now in my DM – Ilebaye Odiniya

The winner of the recently ended Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) All-Stars Season, Ilebaye Odiniya, has revealed that individuals who once turned down her requests for assistance in the past are now attempting to reconnect with her.

During a recent interview with media personality Hero Daniels, Ilebaye shared a troubling incident from her past when a friend evicted her from her home at midnight because she refused to be involved in facilitating a liaison with a man.

The Gen Z baddie said she has no time to chat with such people

“People who denied me help in the past are calling and now in my DM. I just realized that in this world, people won’t recognize you unless you have money. When you don’t have money, there’s no value. It’s like you don’t even have value. And I feel like that’s the wrongest mentality people have.

“I feel like you’re supposed to see people for who they are even if they don’t have money or they have money.”

  • Kenyan land sale sparks controversy as homes are destroyed

Kenyan land sale sparks controversy as homes are destroyed

A Kenyan company that is mostly owned by the government has faced backlash for wanting to sell some of its land. This land used to have homes where people lived for a long time, but these homes were destroyed.

Many expensive homes, churches, and a mosque were destroyed over the weekend because a court decided that East African Portland Cement (EAPC) is the rightful owner of the land.

The court said that EAPC can remove the people who had come to live in a portion of the 17. 40 square kilometers (4,300 acres) of land, which has been causing a legal argument for a long time.

The demolitions made many Kenyans very angry, especially the people who lived there. They felt it was very mean because they had spent a lot of money buying the land and building on it.

They said they were not sure why the EAPC did not talk to them instead of tearing down the buildings.

They mentioned that the destruction occurred before they had a chance to challenge the court’s decision. Some people accused President William Ruto of saying that residents would be forced to leave in order to make room for the growth of an industrial area.

EAPC let people know that they want to sell something by putting an announcement in newspapers on Tuesday. The regularisation model is used to refer to specific pieces of land.

It means that parties who are currently using the land will be given priority. They have been given 14 days to stake their claim. If they don’t, the plots will be sold to the public. The sale will be done by people who want to sell and people who want to buy.

The company has stated that the part of the land for sale is not the same as the area where buildings were destroyed.

However, people are asking why the buildings had to be destroyed. “Why did they let buildings get destroyed if this was their plan from the beginning. ” Adam Maina, a popular figure on social media in Kenya, questioned on X platform.

“This is what happens when dishonest people who are also not capable run the government,” stated Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
It is quite common for buildings that were constructed unlawfully on public land to be destroyed in Kenya. Sometimes people believe that they have political reasons behind their actions.

  • Islamic State ‘Beatle’ ex-wife breaks silence

Islamic State ‘Beatle’ ex-wife breaks silence

Even though there was a lot of news about the violence done by the Islamic State (IS) group, Dure Ahmed says she didn’t know about it when her British husband El Shafee Elsheikh was doing awful things.

He was involved with a group of IS terrorists who kidnapped, hurt, and killed Western captives.

The mother of two children says that she wasn’t influenced to have extreme beliefs, but that she was just a naive person who was deeply in love.

She said yes to answering questions from the BBC and Canadian broadcaster, CBC. She said, “I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. ”

Ahmed believes that there will be negative consequences for speaking out in public, but she wants to bring attention to the difficult situation of women and children who are trapped in Syrian camps and are likely family members of people suspected of being involved with IS. She was kept in that camp for over three years.

She says she has to come to terms with the fact that the time she spent with Elsheikh was a part of her life, whether she wants to accept it or not.

Ahmed says that Elsheikh did not tell her he had joined IS before she left to be with him. She says she didn’t know about the group’s terrorist beliefs when she went from Canada to Syria in 2014. She says she hardly recognized the controlling and violent person her ex-husband had turned into.
Some captives gave Elsheikh and his IS cell members a nickname because they spoke with British accents. The men were accountable for killing many hostages, most of whom were had their heads cut off. They recorded and shared the videos of the killings on social media.

During Elsheikh’s trial in 2022 in the US, lawyers said that his actions caused the deaths of four Americans. These Americans included journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff, as well as aid workers Kayla Mueller and Peter Kassig. They claimed that he was involved in the killings of four people: two British aid workers, David Haines and Alan Henning, and two Japanese journalists, Haruna Yukawa and Kenji Goto.

No one has ever found the bodies.

Elsheikh, who is from west London, is currently in a high-security prison in the US, where he has been sentenced to life imprisonment for eight counts. The UK took away his citizenship before he was found guilty.

However, there are still questions about what his wife, Ahmed, knew about the activities of IS while he is in jail.

Ahmed went to Syria to join Elsheikh two months after their IS group committed murders that made people angry worldwide. It happened right after IS did many bad things when they took control of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. They also started killing a lot of people from Iraq’s Yazidi religious group.

While Ahmed was away, she had two sons. She and her sons were part of a group of women and children who returned to Canada in April.
The person who is 33 years old was arrested when they arrived because authorities suspected they may be involved in terrorism. They were later released from custody, but they have to follow certain rules while they are out on bail. On Monday, the conditions were looked at in a court in Brampton, Ontario.

The lawyer for the government said that Ahmed was very involved in the ideas of IS and it is very probable that she knew about her husband’s involvement with the group before moving away from Canada in 2014.

The Crown and Ahmed’s legal team suggested they both agree to certain rules and conditions. These rules would involve her being monitored by GPS and having to stay at home between 10:00 pm and 06:00 am. The judge stated that he will announce his decision on 19 October.

We talked to Dure Ahmed two times. The most recent time was last week in Toronto, where she was more open and spoke more easily. However, we actually first met in the detention camp in Syria in November of last year. She agreed to talk to us about a British child who was missing. This is for a podcast series called Bloodlines that will be on BBC-CBC soon.

At first, we did not know who her husband was – but, after looking into it more, we found out about their relationship. Then we wanted to find out about Elsheikh’s radicalization, the people he harmed, and his fellow IS “Beatles”.

Ahmed and Elsheikh met in Toronto in 2007. (Rewritten) In 2007, Ahmed and Elsheikh became friends when they met in Toronto. She was seventeen years old, and he was nineteen years old. We wanted to know how they had initially become friends when they were teenagers living in Canada.

“She giggled about smoking marijuana. ” “He didn’t believe in God and it had nothing to do with the Islamic State. ”

The two friends stayed in contact after Elsheikh, whose parents are refugees from Sudan, came back to London. In 2010, they got married in a Muslim ceremony. However, they mostly had a long-distance relationship because Ahmed stayed in Toronto while she was studying for an English degree.

He didn’t like being around other people. He is very shy and keeps to himself a lot. So, she says he had all the qualities that could make someone become radicalized and go down a dangerous path.

In 2012, Elsheikh went to Syria to fight in the war happening there – then he decided to join IS. He kept telling his wife to come with him.

‘Please come and have a look. She said it as if going back was an easy thing to do.

Elsheikh refused to tell her about his activities in Syria, according to her. She also says she didn’t know where exactly he was living in the country.

Disbelieving it was better to not know than to know.

But, while she thought about going on the trip, she says that members of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, alsoknown as CSIS, asked her questions about her husband.

“They [CSIS] clarified that in Syria, there are events occurring that are more complex than I previously believed. “”But, they didn’t let me watch a video. “

Ahmed says she had nothing to say to CSIS and she told Elsheikh that agents had reached out to her. CSIS told the BBC that they cannot provide details about any particular case.
Ahmed, who was 24 years old and had no job after finishing school, finally went on a trip. She says she did not see the terrible acts of the IS be headings that were being talked about a lot at that time. “It may be difficult to believe, but it’s genuinely true. “

We told her that she was smart and had taken a course on the Middle East. We thought she would know about the problematical Muslims around the world.

She said that she kept away from what was going on in Syria. She told us that her study was about the ancient Egyptian writings called hieroglyphics, not about what is happening right now.

According to Ahmed, Elsheikh planned everything – all she had to do was “get on a plane” to Turkey.

I just brought a small bag with me. Three sets of pants and two shirts.

In all the time we have been reporting on IS, we have noticed that the majority of women are unwilling to discuss why or how they became involved with the group. Everyone has their own story.

Some people experienced abuse at home, some were tricked or forced to travel and work-against their will. Some people joined eagerly because they wanted to have exciting experiences. Some people went with their husbands and children. Some of them were kids too.

And then, of course, there were many women who strongly believed in and followed the IS ideology.

Ahmed says he did not support IS. In the responses she gave us, she liked to portray herself as an innocent person who believes in love stories. When we talked to her in the Syrian detention camp, she strongly criticized IS – even though it was dangerous to do so in that location.
Elsheikh and Ahmed lived in Raqqa, the main city of the Islamic State group in Syria. There, they witnessed many killings happening at a popular roundabout in the town center. It became a regular occurrence to see severed heads being shown in public after these killings.

When we talked to Ahmed in the Syrian camp, he mentioned that his daily life consisted of doing regular activities with his female friends, like going out to eat or taking kids on rides at the amusement park.

When we spoke again in Toronto, she said that Elsheikh’s important position did not give them a luxurious lifestyle while they were under IS rule. She said that her house in Raqqa made her feel like she was in prison because they hardly ever went outside. No phones or internet – only she, her children, and Elsheikh’s other wife. Many people had more than on espouse. We inquired if they had Yazidi slaves at home. She replied that they did not.

She said her husband liked to keep things to himself a lot. “We couldn’t even open the curtains. “

She said that she thinks her children are fortunate to be alive, considering the harm Elsheikh caused her when she was pregnant.

Ahmed says she attempted to escape many times, but she had no choice but to come back because she didn’t have any family or support from the IS group. She finally left him when he ended their marriage, and went to find a safe place to live with her sons in a women’s guest house.

We mentioned that she had told us more information during our second interview. We asked if she was only saying these things now because it was easier for her since she was back in Canada and could go to jail.

“If I have to pay, I will have to pay no matter what. ”

Ejura robbery: Suspects’ relatives demand immediate release

The family members of two suspects apprehended by the police in Ejura, located in the Ashanti Region, are vehemently calling for the immediate release of their loved ones. They firmly reject any reports associating the suspects with a thwarted robbery attempt.

Following a failed robbery attempt, two individuals, Alhaji Wahab Suleiman and Ibrahim Abukakari, were apprehended by the police.

They are currently detained by the police and are actively cooperating with the ongoing investigation, while another suspect remains at large.

Tragically, during a confrontation between law enforcement officers and the suspects, one police officer lost their life, and another was injured.

In contrast, the relatives of the detained suspects and local residents vehemently dispute any connection between these men and the alleged robbery activities.

Adam Alhassan, the Assembly Member for the Sarki Kura Electoral Area in the Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality, has characterized the police statement as a complete fabrication and has called for the immediate release of the suspects.

Additionally, he has urged the Inspector General of Police to review the operations of the Police Investigative Department, which, in his view, is contributing to problems in the country.

“These two are men of integrity and are not armed robbers,” Alhassan said. “Alhaji in particular is an informant of the police in the municipality. The police also said that two suspects were arrested with one on the run, which is a total fabrication of facts.

“The three suspects reported to the Ejura police voluntarily and were told to go to the Mampong police for their statements to be taken, and they were subsequently detained and later charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder, and not robbery as was alleged in the police statement.

“We the family want to use this medium to tell the IGP to monitor and review the operations of the Police Investigative Department since their operations are causing a lot of problems in the police service because any Ghanaian that will meet them will mistake them for armed robbers and we urge the government to free our brothers.”

Family of a murdered businesswoman calls for a speedy trial

The family of the 35-year-old businesswoman who tragically lost her life at the hands of her house help in Sokoban, located in the Ashanti region, is urgently appealing to the Attorney General for guidance and a speedy trial in the case.

Their plea comes after the prosecuting attorney, during a court session, revealed that the police have completed their investigations and are now awaiting guidance from the Attorney General before initiating the committal process.

During the previous court hearing, due to heightened tensions, there was a significant presence of security personnel at the Asokore Mampong District Court to prevent certain members of the grieving family from attempting to harm the suspects. These family members had become emotionally charged and tried to assault the accused individuals.

The prime suspect, who is already serving 20 years in a theft case, and his alleged accomplice, James Anokye, were present in court.

Following the disclosure that the police are waiting for advice from the office of the Attorney General, the court thus adjourned the case to 31st October 2023.

Speaking to journalists after the court proceedings, the family of the deceased urged the Attorney General to ensure an expedited trial, especially as the prime suspect has confessed to committing the act.

“What we the family are expecting is justice. As I always say, justice delayed is justice denied. This guy has already confirmed that he has committed the crime so we don’t need any delayance. We want them to do it fast and do it faster. We are willing to follow this case everywhere and to every extent,” the family said.

Russian helicopters damaged by Ukrainian airstrikes

Ukraine says it used an air strike to destroy nine Russian helicopters in two cities that are occupied by Russia in eastern Ukraine.

According to a special forces statement, the cities of Berdyansk and Luhansk were attacked and some important military equipment, including an air defense system and a storage place for weapons, were damaged.

Many Russian soldiers were killed or hurt in the mission, stated the report.

No one else has confirmed the attack, and the Russian military has not said anything about it.

Vladimir Rogov, who was chosen by Russia to be the governor of the captured area in Zaporizhzhia region, announced that the air defense systems were able to stop enemy rockets in Berdyansk. They are currently investigating any injuries or damage and will inform us later.

However, there is a video on a social media account that supports Russia, which has not been confirmed, that shows explosions and rockets flying in a place called Berdyansk. In the video, a voice explains that a storage area for ammunition has been bombed.

A Russian blogger recently wrote about an assault on an airfield using American-made ATACMS rockets. The attack caused significant damage and resulted in casualties of both people and technology, according to the blogger.

Berdyansk is about 85km (or 53 miles) from the closest area of conflict, while Luhansk is nearly 100km away.

Fights are still happening between Ukrainian and Russian forces in Avdiivka, Kupyansk, and Lyman. Russian forces have been attacking these towns heavily lately.

Emergency services in Ukraine have reported that a dormitory building was destroyed in an attack by Russia on the city of Slovyansk. There are currently two people who are believed to be trapped under the debris.

In Odesa, the people in charge say that parts from Russian flying machines that were destroyed have harmed a club for boats and some boats themselves, but nobody was hurt.

Ukraine is attempting to reclaim land in the eastern and southern parts of the country that Russia has taken over. They have started a large-scale attack, but their progress has been slow.

It has also frequently attacked Russia’s positions in the air in order to weaken Moscow’s war effort.

Apple’s CEO makes an unexpected trip to China

The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, unexpectedly went to China.

Analysts suggest that the company is feeling positive while meeting gamers in Chengdu, but they are also facing a decrease in iPhone sales in the country.

He went to China for the second time this year. In March, he said that Apple and China have a close relationship because China is an important place for manufacturing.

However, the company’s activities in the country have become more difficult due to the impacts of Covid and tensions between the United States and China.

Mr Cook went to Apple’s store in Taikoo Li to meet young players of Tencent’s Honour of Kings online game.

“He posted on Weibo, a Chinese social media site, saying that the energy tonight was extremely high. ”

The game Honour of Kings began in Chengdu and now it is popular worldwide on the App Store, as mentioned in an interview with the state-run China Daily newspaper.

The report mentioned that he wanted Chinese developers to achieve the same success with software for Apple’s new Vision Pro augmented reality headset. The headset would also be made by a Chinese manufacturer.

This year is the 30th anniversary of Apple being in the country.

Mr Cook, who has been the CEO of Apple since 2011, is considered the person responsible for Apple’s decision to use Chinese manufacturing. However, the relationship between Apple and China has had some difficulties and challenges in recent years.

The Covid rules in China are affecting the production of goods, and there are also worries about supply chains because of problems with the relationship between China and the US. The company has recently tried to make more things in India.

Sales of the newest iPhone have not been as good as earlier models, according to experts who talked to Bloomberg. They said that fewer people in China were wanting to buy the product and that there were more competitors trying to sell it.

The strict US rules on exporting advanced technology have made it difficult for Chinese companies like Huawei to create smartphones that are as good as the iPhone.

But when Huawei released the Mate 60 Pro phone in August, which had advanced chips made in China, it indicated that other companies were also improving their products.

Mr Cook is visiting at the same time as other Chinese tech advancements are being reported.

On Tuesday, Baidu, a big tech company in China, announced that it has launched the newest version of its Ernie AI model.

Ernie 40 said it was just as good as OpenAI’s GPT-4 system.

At a special event hosted by Baidu’s CEO Robin Li, they demonstrated that artificial intelligence (AI) can write a martial arts story and make advertising posters and videos.

China now has several large language models that were created within the country. However, developers of artificial intelligence (AI) in China have to deal with strict limitations.

And when the BBC tested an older version of Ernie the bot, it avoided answering questions about sensitive topics like the date of the Tiananmen Square crackdown (June 4, 1989) or the name of a imprisoned former high-ranking member of the Communist Party (Bo Xilai). Instead, it suggested discussing a different topic.

According to local media, one of the people arrested in Monday’s protests was Sekou Jamal Pendessa, who is the secretary-general of the Union of Professionals of the Press of Guinea (SPPG).

The union organized a protest in the capital city of Conakry to ask the government to remove restrictions on a well-liked news website called Guineematin. They also protested against other actions that limit people’s freedom to report news.

According to reports, access to Guineematin has been stopped in Guinea for the past two months.

The group in charge of Guinea, which has stopped people from protesting since 2022, has not given a reason for why they are blocking protests.

“The police and gendarmerie forces used tear gas against us,” said Abdouramane Diallo, an official from the SPPG, in an interview with AFP.

He said a reporter got a small injury during the protests.

The reporters were taken to a court because they were accused of being involved in a gathering that was against the law.

47 bodies found following Congo River catastrophe

A minister said that 47 bodies have been found in the Congo River after a boat accident over the weekend. Search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

The boat accident happened because there were too many people on the boat and it was sailing during the nighttime, which is against the rules. Marc Ekila, the transport minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, said this.

He talked for the first time during a TV press conference on Monday night, two days after the accident where a boat overturned.

The incident happened when the vehicle had just left the city of Mbandaka and was heading west into the rain-forest region of the DR Congo.

Mr Ekila said they are looking into the incident, and the people responsible for the boat capsizing will be held responsible.

Right now, the person who owns the boat and the captain are thought to be missing. The owner was not on the boat when it tipped over.

The list of people who were on the plane was not found, so we can’t know yet how many were on the plane and how many are still missing.

The minister said that there have been 88 accidents on DR Congo’s waters just this year.

  • Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade feature Ghana in new Netflix series ‘My Journey to 50’

Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade feature Ghana in new Netflix series ‘My Journey to 50’

Hollywood actress Gabrielle Union and NBA superstar Dwayne Wade have shone a spotlight on Ghana while recounting their experiences during their visit to the “motherland.”

In 2022, Gabrielle Union celebrated her 50th birthday by embarking on a trip to Ghana with her husband, Dwyane Wade, and their daughter Kaavia James. Their journey took them from Ghana to Zanzibar, Namibia, and South Africa.

In a yet-to-be-released series called ‘My Journey to 50,’ Gabrielle Union highlights her life-changing moments in Ghana. She documented their experiences, from their arrival at Kotoka International Airport to various exciting adventures they had during their stay in the country. This highlights the increasing recognition of Ghana as a destination for cultural exploration and travel experiences.

“At the airport, out of customs, you’ll suddenly hear drumming and cheers and I am like ooh who Is here? I am looking around to see who is causing all of this excitement. And then I am like, oh it is for my husband. I see him getting this welcome from around the world. And then you’ll hear Kaav’s name, and Kaav’s name and Kaav’s name. Then I realized that there’s been a lot of people praying for our family and specifically for Kaav,” she said.

Gabrielle Union’s documentation of her visit to Ghana in the ‘My Journey to 50’ series offers insights into how the experience awakened their senses and connected them with their ancestral roots. This kind of deep and meaningful connection with Ghana is a common sentiment among many African diaspora visitors who find a profound and often emotional connection to the culture, history, and heritage of the continent.

“Ghana is that first bridge you cross as African-Americans into West Africa. As the beginning of our spiritual, emotional, physical and mental awakening,” she added.

Her husband, Dwayne Wade, also shared his encounter with the ‘Last Bath River’ situated in Assin Manso, where slaves bathed before being taken into ships.

The NBA star, in a teary tone, narrated:

“I am thinking mhern! Bringing them here to clean them up just to go sell them. Then they get branded. I could do nothing but think about how God built me and how my physique fit. As an NBA star, the same process that changed my family’s life and fortune is the same process that enslaved us. It’s the same thing. Clean up and let them draft me.”

Gabrielle Union, during an interview with iNews UK, revealed that her recent visit to Ghana had provided her with a profound sense of clarity about her life’s purpose. She shared a personal experience at the Last Bath River.

She said,”We had a chance to physically get into the river and say our prayers and call to our ancestors… a few years ago, they had done a ceremony so that I could have my child, and they did a similar ceremony for my husband and me this time around.”

Sandra Ababio refutes claims that she is married

Ghanaian actress Sandra Ababio has firmly denied rumors that she has recently married, following the circulation of a video on social media that seemed to suggest she had tied the knot. She categorically stated that there is no truth to the rumors that have been circulating in the public domain, sparked by a video where she and a gentleman named Kwame Baffour were seen in an engagement-like setting.

The actress emphasized that the video has led some members of the public to believe that she is married to the individual in question, but she clarified that these claims are unfounded and urged everyone to disregard them.

In a press statement released by Sandra Ababio’s management on Monday, October 16, 2023, and shared by GHPage TV on their YouTube page, it was explained that the pictures and the video were part of a recent project and not indicative of a romantic relationship between Sandra and Bafuor.

“The team would like to tell the general public that these rumors are untrue and must be disregarded. However, the gentleman in question and Miss Sandra Ababio are not in any relationship of that sort.

“Those pictures and videos were from a project done recently. We, however, would make it known the right way if Miss Ababio finds her better half and decides to tie the knot,” the statement read.

The reaction comes in response to rumors that Sandra Ababio has tied the knot after a video circulated on social media depicted the two individuals well-dressed and taking pictures together in an engagement setting.

According to a local media watchdog, he is the first journalist to be killed in Somalia this year.

The terrorist group called al-Shabab said they were responsible for the bombing at Blue Sky restaurant.

The police said that four more people got hurt outside the restaurant that is close to the place where the president lives.

The Information Minister, Daud Aweis, spoke out against the attack, calling it cowardly.

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) expressed deep sadness and shock over the senseless and brutal murder of Nur, the director of Somali Cable Television which is privately owned.

The union said that his amazing career and strong dedication have made a lasting impact on Somali journalism. It has inspired many young journalists to work hard and do their best.

  • Arnold claims Shatta Wale’s worth is more than 80,000 pounds

Arnold claims Shatta Wale’s worth is more than 80,000 pounds

Entertainment critic Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has expressed his opinion that the Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, is worth more than the £80,000 performance fee that has stirred up controversy in the media.

According to Asamoah-Baidoo, Shatta Wale commands a higher fee for his performances, and the £80,000 amount that some individuals in the creative arts industry have questioned is not an excessive sum considering the fees he typically receives for event appearances. He mentioned that his investigations have revealed that Shatta Wale was previously paid $120,000 for a performance at an event organized by Wilderland, which indicates that the £80,000 is well within the financial scope of Shatta Wale’s brand as a musician in Ghana.

Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo, speaking as a panelist during the United Showbiz program on United Television (UTV), emphasized that Shatta Wale’s prominent position in the music industry far surpasses any doubts about his ability to command a fee of £80,000.

Shatta Wale is worth more than 80,000 pounds. We were in Ghana and Shatta Wale came to tell us that for Back-to-back-to-back shows; Afro Nation, and Cardi B concert, he charged $100,000 and charged $120,000 for Wilderland. In fact, initially, I was doubting just like anybody else would but after consulting some of the organizers, especially for Wilderland, it came out that he indeed took $120,000,” he said..

He further stated “So with Shatta Wale as a brand and with all the longevity, relevance, and dominance over the years, he is worth more than 80,000 pounds. Considering somebody who has charged more than $100,000 for three shows, he is worth more than the amount he quoted, so let’s establish that fact.”

Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo’s statement came in response to Kwasi Aboagye, who had expressed skepticism regarding Shatta Wale’s claim that he was paid £80,000 for his performance at the Ghana Music Awards UK 2023. Shatta Wale had initially made this assertion in a Twitter post where he thanked the event organizers and fans for their support and boasted about being compensated with such a substantial amount for his performance.

The controversy surrounding the fee led to discussions on television, where Asamoah-Baidoo shared his perspective on Shatta Wale’s worth as a performer.

In what seemed like a jab at event organizers in Ghana, Shatta said:
“Thank you, London, #GMAUK You did what Ghana music in Ghana couldn’t do 80k pounds for performance Artiste of the year 2023 (Icing on the cake) Shatta Wale is a London boy now !!!”

But Kwasi Aboagye insisted that Shatta’s statements were mere lies.

The popular broadcaster said on his Peace FM Entertainment Review that it is impossible for the organizers to pay him such an amount after incurring other huge costs for his trip.

He said the organizers would not be able to afford such an amount after incurring visa expenses, first flight tickets, accommodation, and others for him and his team.

Shatta Wale said he was paid 80,000 pounds as a performance fee and the ultimate ‘Artiste of the Year’ award. He was never paid 80,000 pounds for his performance. It is a huge lie! Do the organizers even have that 80,000 pounds to give Shatta Wale? He is lying.

“It is never true. 80,000 pounds. You were given a heroic welcome at the airport, given a royalty treat. You, your girlfriend, and your entire team were given visas. You guys flew first class. I am not sure you were even given 10,000 pounds.

“The organizers cannot speak on it but listeners, I want you to know that it is not true. They cannot give him that kind of money. Which Ghanaian living in the UK, Which promoter can give that amount?” he retorted.

In response to Kwasi Aboagye’s skepticism and comments, Shatta Wale launched a strong and critical attack on both Kwasi Aboagye and the owners of Despite Media, the company employing the radio presenter. Despite the attack, Kwasi Aboagye remained undeterred in his position, asserting that Shatta Wale’s claim of being paid such a substantial amount for his performance was indeed false. This exchange of words and differing opinions added to the ongoing controversy surrounding Shatta Wale’s performance fee.

Attacker who killed Swedes in Brussels shot dead by police

The police in Brussels have killed the man who murdered two people from Sweden on Monday night.

Abdesalem Lassoued, who is 45 years old, was shot while he was in a café located in the Schaerbeek neighborhood.

On Monday, two people from Sweden died and another person got hurt in a shooting with a machine gun.

It happened on a street called Boulevard d’Ypres, which was 5 kilometers away from the stadium where Belgium was playing against Sweden to try and qualify for the Euro 2024 football tournament.

Brussels is currently at the highest level of terror alert.

The person who shot people is thought to be a man from Tunisia who was not allowed to stay in Belgium because his request for protection was denied.

He uploaded a video on the internet claiming that he murdered people for the sake of God, and the authorities think that he was motivated by the Islamic State Group.

Belgium’s Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden said to Flemish public broadcaster VRT that the weapon found on him was the same as the one used in Monday’s attack.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo called Monday’s shooting a very scary act of terrorism during a press conference.

The lawyer in charge of the case believes that the victims were targeted because they were from Sweden.

Mr De Croo said: “The people who do bad things are trying to make us scared, not trust each other, and separate us in our societies where we have freedom. ” Terrorism is the act of using violence and fear to intimidate and harm innocent people. Terrorists need to realize that they won’t ever achieve what they want.

“I am going through pain and suffering”- Nigerian actor Bolanle Ninalowo

The Nigerian actor Bolanle Ninalowo has spoken about the complexities of fatherhood, emphasizing the importance of qualities like strength, patience, endurance, wisdom, and, most significantly, the grace of God.

He disclosed that he has chosen to transform his sorrows and hardships into a source of inspiration, integrating his goals and aspirations into the very core of his existence. According to him, the broader vision of his children’s future always outweighs the challenges of today.

Ninalowo acknowledged that the journey of fatherhood is not without its difficulties and that he fully expects his children to face their own unique challenges and experiences as they grow older. However, he firmly believes in the power of truth, asserting that truth will ultimately prevail.

He advised his followers to entrust their trials and tribulations to God, as he believes that only God can dispense justice at the right time. Ninalowo emphasized that individuals with sincere and pure hearts, visible to God, need not be concerned about the actions of others.

He said: “It takes absolute strength, patience, perseverance, wisdom and Gods grace! The world has no clue what i have been through and going through. I only chose different. I turn my pain and suffer to motivation. I sewed my goals and objectives to the very fiber of my being so that the overall objective becomes inseparable from who i was.

“The big picture is always bigger than the present. It takes wisdom.

The kids will turn to children, and some day to adults. There are simply no lies in any truth. The truth will some day prevail. Until then, you leave your pain to God. Only he will vindicate at he’s appointed time. One with a true and clear mind that God can see and judge has no business worrying about what

MAN can do! God will never forsake the truth. It might take time but there is no destination without a journey.”

  • My son isn’t a drug addict, he was killed – Mother Kikibees CEO

My son isn’t a drug addict, he was killed – Mother Kikibees CEO

The mother of the CEO of Kikibees, Cecilia Adomah, has vehemently rejected any claims suggesting that her son took his own life or succumbed to the influence of drugs. In her perspective, her son is far from the negative portrayal being circulated, particularly by the police.

During an interview with Bigscout media, Mrs. Cecilia Adomah expressed that her son is a successful, responsible, and young entrepreneur who had no apparent motive to contemplate suicide or put his life at risk.

She speculated that her son’s tragic demise may be linked to his trusting nature. Mrs. Cecilia Adomah recollected the last time she saw her son, who had visited her in Amsterdam a week before his untimely passing in Ghana.

“My son Ben that I know isn’t a drug addict. He isn’t a drug addict. Jesus Christ! Ben came to visit me and spent a week here in Amsterdam, before leaving for Ghana, he even hugged me, kissed me and we prayed together. He left here around 1 am. He said he would be back soon and he left. It was his friend who even came to pick him up.

“When I heard reports that my son committed suicide, I was intrigued. This information is false. Why would Ben even want to kill himself? He is a responsible man with a wife and kids. He is hardworking and successful. So, what is he looking for in life that he doesn’t have? I was shocked. My son is very sobber, loves human, and trust easily, maybe that’s what landed us in this situation.

She also recounted the interesting manner in which some outsiders tried to break the news of her son’s death to her in church.

“I heard it when I was in church on Sunday, a lady called me on the phone to tell me about it. Exactly around that time, my daughter’s friends were around so they quickly snatched the phone from me.

“Other people came to tell me that Ben is injured so he is receiving treatment. At that moment, I was taken to home but I kept asking why about four people would tell me about a mere injury. So I asked them to tell me exactly what happened. So, the family came home and they told me that he was dead,” she added.

Ben’s younger brother, who sat next to his mother, insists that his mother was assassinated.

“For someone who took in substance and was hyper, why didn’t he knock anyone down with his car? Went all there way to someone’s house to kill himself. From the audio, you can tell that it is a well-calculated plot to assassinate my brother.

“You said someone is hyper and wants to kill you, so why didn’t you open the door for him to go out? From the audio, you can tell that they did something to him and he was gasping for breath,” he fumed.

  • Vital humanitarian aid increases outside of Gaza as WHO issues water shortage warning

Vital humanitarian aid increases outside of Gaza as WHO issues water shortage warning

Essential help for people in need is building up at the closed border of Gaza, even though attempts are being made to open a passage with Egypt. The World Health Organization has raised concerns that there is a shortage of water for many Palestinians who have been forced to leave their homes due to the bombings.

For over a week, Israel has put Gaza in a lockdown because of a violent attack by Hamas, the group that controls the area and is known for extremist beliefs. Gaza is a place where 2. 2 million people live.

Some people are going to the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza to try to leave because there is not enough fuel, food, and water. This is causing hospitals to almost close down and families to not have enough water and food.

With a lot of pressure from other countries to help with the crisis, President Joe Biden is going to Israel on Wednesday. This is an unusual visit during a time of war and comes after Secretary of State Antony Blinken worked really hard to talk to important Israeli leaders for seven hours.

On Tuesday, Blinken said that the US and Israel have agreed to make a plan to help send humanitarian aid to the people in Gaza.

But we don’t know if any steps were taken to open the Rafah crossing, which is the only way to get into Gaza that Israel doesn’t control.

An official from Palestine said that big blocks have been put at the crossing, stopping all gates. Egypt also says that Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza side of the border have made the roads not work.

Satellite pictures from Maxar Technologies reveal that there are four holes, each about 30 feet in size, still obstructing the road at the border crossing near the Egyptian gate. The photos also show that the cement blocks that were used to block the entrance can be seen.

Many people on both sides of the border are urgently asking for help.

On the Egyptian side, there are United Nations teams waiting at the Rafah crossing. They are hoping they will be allowed to enter Gaza and create a pathway for delivering humanitarian aid.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said in a social media post on Monday that Gaza is in a very serious situation regarding public health. They mentioned that there is a shortage of water and around 3,500 patients in 35 hospitals are in danger right now.

The spokesperson for WHO, Margaret Harris, said to CNN that the UN health agency made a deal with Egypt’s president to open the Rafah crossing for aid. However, Israel’s attacks made the place unsafe, which stopped the movement of important supplies.

“It’s really scary and upsetting to wait, and all of us just want to help,” Harris said. He also mentioned that there are around 84,000 pregnant women in Gaza, and a lot of them give birth every day.

“She said that babies do not worry about bombs, they arrive when they arrive. ”

The UN envoy, Martin Griffiths, will go to Cairo on Tuesday to help with diplomatic efforts, according to a statement from the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs. He is going to Israel during his trip.

A group of trucks filled with help and supplies was moving through Egypt towards the crossing on Tuesday, as reported by Al-Qahera News, which is related to the government. A lot of help came a few days ago from many countries and international groups.

Many people in Gaza have come together near the border crossing. Over a million people have left their homes in just one week, says the United Nations.

A group of five Palestinian-Americans, who are also citizens of the US, went to Rafah on Monday because they heard that the borders were going to be opened. Haifa Kaoud, whose husband Hesham is one of the five people trapped in Gaza, shared this information.

“She said that they went to Rafah on Monday, but they had to wait for a long time and it never opened. She also mentioned that they don’t have a lot of electricity or internet, so they rely on us for information. ”

The family was in Gaza visiting relatives when the war started. Now, their loved ones in the US are doing their best to find a way to bring them back home.

Haifa said that the water is dirty. Despite having food, they try not to eat a lot so that there is enough for everyone. “One of the brothers also takes medicine for his heart, and they are worried about it lasting too long as well. ”

UNRWA announced on Tuesday that Gaza’s only seawater desalination plant has stopped operating, which increases the chance of more people dying.

The United Nations agency said that in southern Gaza on Monday, a small amount of water was available for three hours. However, this was only enough to serve half of the 100,000 people living in Khan Younis.

The UNRWA said that the lack of water and sanitation services is causing dehydration and waterborne diseases to become a big problem.

On Monday, the UN Security Council said no to a proposal from Russia for a temporary stop to fighting in order to help people in need. The resolution didn’t receive enough votes to pass. Many countries, like the US, UK, and France, voted against it because the draft did not blame Hamas for the attack on October 7. The Israeli army said that the attack caused the deaths of at least 1,400 people and many others were taken as hostages.

The Israeli bombing last week caused the death of over 2,800 people, including many children, and injured more than 11,000 in Gaza, said Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh on Monday, as reported by the official Palestinian press agency, WAFA.

The Palestinian Interior Ministry said that on Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes caused the death of at least 49 people in the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Colonel Jonathan Conricus said that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will continue conducting airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, targeting Hamas militant targets. He mentioned that their primary goal is to degrade Hamas’ capabilities and prevent further attacks on Israeli civilians. Conricus also stated that they are taking precautions to minimize civilian casualties and suggested that any casualties reported may be the result of misfired rockets by Hamas. Colonel Jonathan Conricus, when talking to CNN, said that he did not know about any targeted attacks happening in those places, but they might have occurred.

“He said the fighting is still happening. ” We are still looking for members of Hamas to try to weaken their ability to fight.

Gilad Erdan, Israel’s representative at the UN, disagreed with claims of ethnic cleansing made by a UN official who works on protecting Palestinian rights. Erdan said that the claims were completely not true and accused UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese of hating Jewish people.

In a statement on Saturday, Albanese accused Israel of forcibly removing many Palestinians from their homes during past conflicts in 1948 and 1967. He said this was like a mass removal of Palestinians based on their ethnicity.

  • Kikibees CEO’s death: Ben doesn’t do drugs – Afia Schwarzenegger

Kikibees CEO’s death: Ben doesn’t do drugs – Afia Schwarzenegger

The controversial Ghanaian media personality and socialite, Afia Schwarzenegger, has expressed her reservations regarding the police report on the death of the late Kikibees and Noire Lounge CEO, Mr. Bennet Adomah. She has raised concerns about the report, particularly the assertion that Mr. Adomah had taken substances and became hyperactive, as she believes he was not involved with drugs prior to his passing.

Afia Schwarzenegger also questioned why the police issued a report without conducting an autopsy to validate their claims, which could be used in legal proceedings. She emphasized her demand for justice in the case of Bennet Adomah, whose unusual circumstances of death have raised suspicions among the public.

“The Ben I know doesn’t do drugs…That’s all I’m saying…And how do you make this claim without an autopsy? We demand justice #Justice4Kikibee” she wrote on her Instagram page in reaction to the poster of the one-week observation of the late Bennet Adomah.

According to the police report presented in court, the claim that Ben was stabbed or shot by his lover is debunked. The report states that Ben, prior to visiting his girlfriend, consumed some substances, which led to hyperactivity. This hyperactive state ultimately resulted in an altercation upon his arrival at her residence.

The report goes on to disclose that their argument escalated, and the deceased began causing damage to the property in the house. This compelled his girlfriend to leave the scene to avoid the confrontation.

The police report further stated that Ben was later discovered on the floor with marks on his arms and blood coming from his nose, suggesting that he may have collapsed and fallen. This information was published by Angel FM’s court.

“According to the facts the police gathered, the lady did not harm the deceased. Per Police findings, he took in some substances and became very high. So, because he was in a hyperactive state, he tried to harm the lady when he got to the house. This caused him to smash a glass on the floor and the lady managed to escape from the room.

“They said he started destroying things in the room and it appears that he slumped and fell to the ground, hitting his head on the ground in the process. The only marks on his body were on his arms and his thumb. His nose was bleeding and it somehow proves that he slumped and fell on the tiles.”

Additionally, it was reported that the suspect’s attorney denied allegations that his client fatally stabbed the victim.

He argued that the ‘murder’ charge his client had been slapped with was inappropriate.

“Because it is a murder case, she has not been asked to plead guilty or not. Her lawyer is even saying that the murder charges being leveled against her are inappropriate. They said they would go to every length to prove that their client is not guilty. He wasn’t killed by his side chick. Also, news that his side chick’s other boyfriend confronted and killed him is false,” the reports added.

Meanwhile, the case was adjourned to October 27.

  • Two Swedes shot and killed by suspected gunman – Belgian authorities

Two Swedes shot and killed by suspected gunman – Belgian authorities

A person who shot and killed two people from Sweden in a terrorist attack in Brussels has been shot by the police. This ends a search for the suspect that took place during the night. Local news reported this information on Tuesday.

The suspect, whose identity is still not known, was shot in the chest by police in Schaerbeek, a place in the northeast of the capital city. The police then took the suspect to the hospital for treatment. This information was reported by the public broadcaster RTBF.

According to Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden, RTBF reported that he is in a special unit for critical care.

The person believed to have shot others had a violent attack on Monday night while Belgium was hosting a soccer match against Sweden. The game was taking place at a stadium called King Baudouin Stadium, which is 3 miles away from the center of Brussels. Because of the attack, the soccer game had to be stopped during halftime.

A person on social media claimed to be the shooter and said they were inspired by Islamic State. The Belgium prosecutor’s office said that the victims being Swedish may have been the reason for the attack.

Right now, there is no evidence that there is a connection with the Israeli-Palestinian situation. “We have taken urgent security measures to protect Swedish fans as much as we can, based on the facts and claims,” said spokesperson Eric Van Duyse during a press conference.

Belgian authorities strongly criticized the attack.

“Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib expressed shock and sadness over the terrorist attack in Brussels on X” We must do everything necessary to fight against radicalism. We are thinking about the victims, their families, and the police.

After the attack, the level of threat from terrorism in Brussels has been increased to the highest level, which is level 4. The French Interior Ministry has also increased the checks at the border between France and Belgium.

The police were in Brussels to make sure people were safe, according to the city’s mayor, Philippe Close, who wrote about it on X.

Close said that the police are taking action to ensure safety in and around our capital city, Brussels, after the shooting. They are working together with the Minister of the Interior. “I am at the crisis center to make sure everything is working together well. ”

Belgium’s Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo, expressed his sincere sympathies to the families affected by this cowardly attack.

“It’s every man’s wish in life to practice polygamy”- Samini

Ghanaian Dancehall musician Samini has shared his views on polygamy and religion.

In an interview with MX24 TV, Samini, when asked about the concept of polygamy, acknowledged that it’s a dream for many men to practice polygamy but emphasized the importance of mutual consent and understanding between all parties involved.

“Would I attempt polygamy? Well, I think it’s every man’s wish in life, it’s every man’s dream, but it’s in the interest of the woman that you want to be in this kind of agreement with or in this kind of arrangement with to be on the same page with you.

“Other than that you’re going to find problems for yourself. But I think it’s something that every man is given hands and opportunity,” he said.

Also sharing his opinion on religion, he revealed that he doesn’t limit himself to a specific religious institution, stating that he would go to either the church or the Mosque at his own discretion.

He cited his diverse religious background, with a majority of his family being Muslim, despite his Christian upbringing.

” I can go to the church, I can go to the mosque, I can go to any other place that I believe that these people that have gathered are calling the Most High that I also call and together we will call the Most High.

“But with no mediator for me personally, you understand? Because I know that I call him directly all the time and he does answer all the time. All the time,” he explained.

India’s top court issues historic LGBTQ verdict over same-sex marriage

India’s highest court has made an important decision to support the rights of the LGBTQ community. However, they have not officially approved same-sex marriages.

The ruling is a small win for LGBTQ Indians who have been fighting for equal rights as citizens in the biggest democracy in the world.

A group of five top judges, including the chief justice of India, made an important decision on Tuesday. The Supreme Court broadcasted the decision live, while many people gathered outside to listen.

A group of over twelve people from the LGBTQ community have raised objections against a law that prevents them from getting legally married.

The ruling marks the end of a long and difficult legal fight for equal rights in a country where being gay is still considered unacceptable.

This news story is very important and just happened. There is more information or things to come.

UTV Studio Invasion: GJA disappointed in ruling against NPP thugs

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has voiced its dissatisfaction with the verdict delivered by an Achimota District Court concerning sixteen individuals affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who stormed the UTV studios on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

Albert Dwumfuor, the President of the GJA, expressed concern that the police had brought forth feeble and unsuitable charges against the accused individuals, resulting in each of them receiving relatively minor fines of GHC2,400.

“The Ghana Journalists Association and other allied bodies have met to discuss the ruling and we feel disappointed in the ruling, we are not happy. We are saying so because we all can bear witness to what happened last Saturday which was captured on video and spread across social media. We have also visited Despite Media and received firsthand account of what transpired,” he stated.

He described the charges as fanciful and aimed at getting the culprits a soft judgement.

“We can all attest to the fact that those who came there did not have the permission to enter the premises and that amounted to unlawful entry which is clearly defined in our laws. We were expecting that to be the first charge but that was conspicuously missing.

“Secondly, we understand they assaulted two employees including a director of photography and a production team member, Isaac. That assault aspect was also missing from the charge sheet by the police. With assault missing, causing harm also went missing in the charges pressed against them, so when you look at the two charges that we left out, we come to the conclusion that the charge of conspiracy to commit crime and rioting which was pressed against them are weak charges. The charges were fanciful and weak to just get them this sentence and we at GJA are not happy with it,” the president told UTV in an interview.

In addition to their disappointment with the judgment, Albert Dwumfuor emphasized that the ruling did not serve as an effective deterrent against the alarming trend of attacks on journalists. He called on the judiciary to treat cases involving assaults on journalists with the gravity they deserve.

The group of NPP supporters had forcibly entered the UTV studios, disrupting the live production of United Showbiz. The intruders claimed that their purpose was to locate the regular pundit, Kwame A Plus, who had publicly torn up a letter addressed to the management of United Showbiz by the NPP leadership. This letter had requested changes to the program, alleging that it had taken on a political tone and was consistently critical of the president and the government.

  • Russia criticises Israel as divisions among the West grow

Russia criticises Israel as divisions among the West grow

The Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and the Chinese leader, Xi Jinping, will meet in Beijing this week. Their meeting is expected to show that they both want a new international order where the United States and its democratic friends do not have all the power.

This meeting is happening between the two most powerful rulers in the world. It is happening at a time when tensions between countries are increasing, especially after Russia invaded Ukraine shortly after the leaders’ last meeting in China in 2022. Additionally, there is a war going on between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which could potentially escalate into a larger conflict and disrupt stability in the Middle East.

Both Beijing and Moscow are unhappy with Israel’s actions and want them to stop fighting. This is another example of how the two countries are working together to show they can lead instead of the US. The US supports Israel‘s right to fight back.

The two men are meeting because it was confirmed that US President Joe Biden will visit Israel on Wednesday. Biden is expected to strongly support Israel as they try to get rid of Hamas. At the same time, the US wants to find ways to help the people in Gaza who are suffering, and is warning other countries in the region to stay out of the conflict.

Xi and Putin will probably talk about the situation when they meet this week. Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday morning as a special guest for the Belt and Road Forum, which is a rare trip for him because he doesn’t usually travel abroad for diplomatic reasons.

Leaders, representatives, and groups from over 140 countries will attend a special event in China. This event celebrates 10 years since Xi Jinping started a project to fund global infrastructure. It is also a chance for Xi to show China’s increasing global goals.

Experts say that the timing of the forum that took place in Beijing, while Israel is considering a ground invasion of Gaza, gives Putin a chance to divert attention from the conflict in Ukraine.

Moscow plans to propose a resolution to the United Nations Security Council, asking for a ceasefire. The resolution does not specifically mention Hamas. On Friday, the Russian UN representative compared the continuous shelling of Gaza by Israel to the harsh blockade of Leningrad during World War II.

On the opposite side of history, President Joe Biden of the United States said that the attack by Hamas was the most awful killing of Jewish people since the Holocaust.

China has decided to send someone to the Middle East to help with negotiations and has criticized actions that hurt innocent people. However, they did not specifically blame Hamas or mention them directly in their statements.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Israel’s actions have gone too far and are no longer justifiable as self-defense.

Both countries’ statements are different from the US’s. The US strongly supports Israel and believes that now is not the right time for a ceasefire.

Xi and Putin will talk about the fighting in Ukraine during their next meeting.

In that fight, China has also tried to be a peacemaker.

However, when it comes to China’s desire to convince the Russian leader to stop invading, Xi might be careful to avoid doing anything that could harm their relationship.

This is because he is probably monitoring changes in world opinion about the conflict, especially in Europe. The upcoming US election next year could also cause a big change in how much support the US gives to Ukraine.

According to Li Mingjiang, a professor at Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University, we haven’t seen any indication that China wants to use its advantage to pressure Russia.

The Chinese government doesn’t want there to be any distrust at all between Beijing and Moscow.

Putin, who has rarely left the group of countries that used to be part of the Soviet Union since starting his war, is not welcome by Western countries and is being sought by an international court for possible war crimes. Experts say he doesn’t want to go anywhere if he doesn’t feel completely safe. Last week, he went on a trip to Kyrgyzstan, which was the first trip he made outside of Russian-controlled territory this year.

However, even though Putin’s situation has changed since his last visit to Beijing, the two leaders have become more similar in their ideas about how the world should be, which is different from what the West believes. They are trying to convince other countries to support their efforts to change the current global power balance, which they believe is unfair to them.

During an interview before the event, Putin spoke highly of Xi, saying he is a trustworthy leader who handles situations with calmness and practicality. Putin admires Xi’s way of dealing with other countries, which is not forceful or demanding, but rather offers chances for others.

The two leaders, who often talk about how close they are as friends, have gotten together 40 times in the last ten years. They have met two times since the war in Ukraine began. During their last meeting in Beijing, Xi and Putin made a 5,000-word statement saying that they are partners without any restrictions, and they strongly agree against the West.

Li in Singapore said that it will be a great chance for Putin to get attention on a global level and prove that Russia still has a strong ally in China by attending the forum.

“And it’s politically important for China to have a significant international figure like Putin join the BRI summit,” he said. In easier terms, the forum is expected to have leaders from developing and middle income countries that have less influence.

Russia attacked Ukraine and this tested the relationship between China and Russia. Western countries questioned China’s close relationship with Russia and wondered if China’s leader, Xi, knew about Russia’s plan in advance.

Beijing says it is not picking sides in the conflict and wants peace. Lately, it has been trying hard to be a mediator for peace. People are worried because China is very close to Russia, so this has made its relationships with Europe and the United States more tense.

But China, the second largest economy in the world, has also become an important support for Russia, which is facing sanctions. Russia now relies on China for buying goods and energy. The two countries have increased their cooperation in various fields since the war began.

In 2023, the trade between Russia and China reached its highest level ever and kept increasing. Experts say that they have improved security by doing more military exercises together and having frequent official discussions. They have also strengthened their diplomatic relationship, including the state visit of President Xi to Moscow which was an important trip for him.

According to Alex Gabuev, director of the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, China tries to create a clear separation from Russia when speaking to Western audiences, both in their words and actions.

“(However) even though they don’t officially call it a ‘no limits partnership,’ (the China-Russia relationship) has actually become stronger, more stable, and closer,” he said.

Akosombo Dam Spillage: Ghana Navy rescues over  8,000 persons

The Ghana Navy has disclosed that they have successfully rescued more than 8,000 individuals from regions affected by the devastating overflow of the Akosombo Dam.

This information was revealed by Commodore EA Kwafo, a representative from the Naval Training Command, during an update on the flood situation in Mepe, located in the Volta Region.

Commodore Kwafo also emphasized that the rescue teams operating in the impacted areas are actively overseeing vital infrastructure and promptly responding to distress calls, aiming to minimize the damage caused by the dam spillage. If the existing rescue efforts become overwhelmed, additional personnel and logistical support will be deployed to enhance their capacity.

“We are monitoring critical infrastructure as well as responding to distress calls from the district assemblies, VRA, and NADMO and we have been rescuing people on the water and we are monitoring the estuary because it becomes a deathtrap in times of flooding.

“We were keeping watch on critical infrastructure and as of yesterday evening, we had evacuated over 8,000 flood-stricken people to safe havens and we have brought over ten more boats downstream and experienced divers and lifesavers to assist in the rescue efforts.”

“Depending on how it goes, we may bring in more facilities and more personnel or if the situation improves, then, we may be keeping a watch anyway and we are ready to respond to any distress call and help save lives and properties to help mitigate the losses during this difficult times,” Commodore EA Kwafo he added.

  • How to improve your eyesight naturally

How to improve your eyesight naturally

Improving your eyesight naturally involves adopting a combination of lifestyle changes, dietary habits, and eye exercises. Keep in mind that these methods may not reverse serious eye conditions but can help maintain and enhance your vision. Consult an eye care professional for a thorough evaluation and personalized guidance. Here are some natural ways to promote better eyesight:

    1. Eat a Healthy Diet:
      • Consume a variety of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins A, C, and E, as well as minerals like zinc and selenium. These nutrients are essential for maintaining eye health.
      • Incorporate foods like carrots, sweet potatoes, spinach, kale, and fish (rich in omega-3 fatty acids) into your diet.
    2. Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is essential for maintaining eye moisture and overall health. Drink an adequate amount of water daily.
    3. Protect Your Eyes from UV Rays: Wear sunglasses that provide 100% UV protection when exposed to sunlight to prevent damage from harmful UV rays.
    4. Reduce Screen Time: Limit prolonged exposure to digital screens, as staring at screens for extended periods can strain your eyes. Follow the 20-20-20 rule: every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and focus on something at least 20 feet away.
    5. Blink Regularly: Blinking helps moisten your eyes and prevent dryness. Be mindful of blinking when working on a computer or staring at screens.
    6. Eye Exercises:
      • Practice eye exercises to strengthen eye muscles and improve focus. For example, try focusing on a close object for a few seconds, then on a distant object, repeating this process several times.
      • Roll your eyes clockwise and counterclockwise to exercise the eye muscles.
    7. Palming: Rub your hands together to generate heat and place your palms over your closed eyes without applying pressure. Relax and hold for a minute. This can help relieve eye strain.
    8. Get Adequate Sleep: Ensure you get enough restorative sleep each night to allow your eyes to recover and rejuvenate.
    9. Maintain Proper Lighting: Ensure adequate, glare-free lighting when reading, working, or doing tasks that require concentration.
    10. Quit Smoking: Smoking can increase the risk of eye diseases like macular degeneration and cataracts. Quitting smoking can benefit your overall eye health.
    11. Manage Chronic Health Conditions: Conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure can affect your eyesight. Manage these conditions effectively through medication and a healthy lifestyle to protect your eyes.
    12. Regular Eye Check-ups: Visit an eye care professional for regular eye exams, even if you think your vision is fine. Early detection of eye issues is crucial for timely intervention.
    13. Stay Active: Regular physical activity promotes good circulation, which benefits eye health.

Remember that natural improvements in eyesight may take time, and individual results can vary. It’s essential to be patient and consistent in implementing these practices. If you notice significant changes in your vision or experience eye discomfort, consult an eye care specialist for a comprehensive evaluation and guidance tailored to your specific needs.

  • 10 fruits you should not eat after dinner

10 fruits you should not eat after dinner

It’s a common belief in some cultures that certain fruits should be avoided after dinner due to concerns about digestion and potential indigestion. However, there is no scientific evidence to support the idea that specific fruits should be completely avoided after dinner. The key is to consume fruits in moderation at any time of the day. If you do experience discomfort or indigestion, it may be more related to overeating or eating too close to bedtime rather than the specific type of fruit you consume.

That said, here are ten fruits that some people might avoid after dinner based on traditional beliefs:

    1. Citrus Fruits: Some people avoid citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and lemons after dinner due to their acidity, which could potentially lead to acid reflux or heartburn for some individuals.
    2. Pineapple: Pineapple contains enzymes that can sometimes cause a sensation of burning or discomfort in the stomach, especially if eaten in large quantities.
    3. Papaya: Papaya contains enzymes like papain, which can also lead to digestive discomfort for some people if consumed in excess.
    4. Watermelon: Watermelon has a high water content and is sometimes thought to lead to bloating or digestive issues when eaten late at night.
    5. Banana: Bananas are considered heavy by some traditions and may be avoided as a late-night snack due to their potential to cause indigestion.
    6. Guava: Guava is high in fiber, and some people might find it heavy on the stomach when consumed late in the evening.
    7. Berries: Berries, especially if eaten in large quantities, may lead to acid reflux or discomfort for some individuals due to their acidity.
    8. Mango: Like papaya, mangoes contain enzymes that could cause digestive discomfort for some people when consumed in excess.
    9. Apples: Some people avoid apples after dinner due to their fiber content, which can lead to bloating or gas in certain individuals.
    10. Cherries: Cherries can sometimes cause digestive issues for some people, especially if consumed in large amounts due to their natural sugar content.

It’s important to note that individual tolerance varies, and what causes discomfort for one person might not affect another. If you enjoy any of these fruits after dinner and they don’t cause you any digestive issues, there’s no need to avoid them. In general, it’s a good practice to maintain a balanced diet and eat a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the day, rather than focusing on specific restrictions based on mealtime.

UTV studio invasion: 16 NPP thugs convicted and fined GHS2,400 each

Sixteen individuals who had affiliations with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were found guilty and fined Ghc2400 each by the Achimota Magistrate Court. This verdict was delivered in response to their involvement in an attack on the United Television (UTV) offices, as reported by citinewsroom.com.

The incident transpired on Saturday, October 7, 2023, during the disruption of UTV’s prime-time entertainment show, ‘United Showbiz.’

The convicted individuals were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and rioting, to which they pleaded guilty, resulting in their convictions.

On that fateful Saturday, a group of agitators forcefully breached the UTV studio during the live broadcast of ‘United Showbiz.’ Their actions disrupted the program and included threats directed at the show’s host and guests in attendance.

Subsequent investigations revealed that the perpetrators were led by the Klottey Korle Youth Organizer of the NPP, allegedly acting upon the instructions of Ernest Owusu Bempah, a Deputy Director of Communications, and other prominent figures within the ruling party.

The attack was instigated by A Plus, a panelist on the show, who tore apart a letter from the NPP leadership requesting changes to the United Showbiz panel.

This invasion by NPP-affiliated individuals garnered widespread condemnation from various quarters, including the Ghana Journalists Association, the Information Ministry, and various other organizations.

The incident ignited public outrage and sparked calls for accountability.

In response to the public outcry, the National Chairman of the NPP, Stephen Ntim, assumed responsibility and issued an unreserved apology to UTV’s management. Chairman Ntim publicly denounced the actions of the NPP-affiliated individuals during an appearance on Peace FM.

As part of his apology, Chairman Ntim pledged that the party’s leadership would take steps to ensure that such deplorable actions would not be repeated in the future.

  • Israel evacuates residents along border with Lebanon over concern of escalation

Israel evacuates residents along border with Lebanon over concern of escalation

Israel’s military is moving 28 communities away from the northern border with Lebanon because the fighting with Hezbollah militants is getting worse.

On Sunday, two people from Israel were killed. They were hit by missiles that came from Lebanon and targeted a village and a military post.

The army said it attacked places where Hezbollah soldiers were located as a reaction.

It also said that Iran, who supports the group, ordered attacks to take attention away from the Gaza war.

Iran said to Israel that if it continues to attack the Palestinian territory, there is a chance of a big conflict happening in that region. This is in response to the militant group Hamas attacking Israel earlier this month.

Hezbollah is a very strong army in Lebanon and has rockets that can reach far into Israel. It had a war with Israel that lasted for a whole month in 2006.

Israeli government minister Benny Gantz visited a community co-ordination centre in the town of Shlomi. During this visit, the BBC asked him if he believed there would be another war with Hezbollah.

“I don’t want it to happen, but we are getting ready for it,” he answered.
The IDF said on Monday that it is helping people living within 2km (1. 2 miles) of the border with Lebanon to leave their homes and stay in paid accommodations provided by the government.

A representative said that the evacuation was done to protect people and to give the military the ability to act if needed.

However, many villages near the border are mostly empty, with only a quarter of the population remaining.

People who live there told the BBC that families had not waited for the official order. Instead, they quickly gathered their belongings and took their children to a safer place in the south.

In a lot of situations, the only people still in the villages are soldiers and local security team members who stayed to assist them.

The towns are very near to the border, and you can see the strong fence made by Israel next to it. In a few of them, you can also notice the Hezbollah observation posts on the opposite side.
On Sunday, there was a lot of fighting in different places along the border line. The IDF and Hezbollah were shooting at each other.

Israel has announced that a civilian has died from an attack by Hezbollah in the ongoing violence. A person in their forties died in a missile attack on the village of Shtula near the border.

Afterwards, an Israeli soldier named Lt Amitai Granot was killed in a missile attack on a military post, as mentioned by Israeli media.

In another incident, a rocket struck the main building of the UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, Unifil, located in the city of Naqoura. Nobody got hurt.

The IDF said it attacked Hezbollah’s military buildings and equipment on Sunday and during the night.

It was also said that nine rockets were shot from Lebanon into Israeli land. Five of them were stopped, and Israel reacted by attacking the places the rockets were launched from.
On Monday, three Israeli soldiers died when they fought against militants from Palestinian Islamic Jihad. These militants came from Lebanon and crossed the border. Later that day, the Israeli army attacked places in Lebanon after mortar fire, and at least three fighters from Hezbollah were killed.

On Friday, a cameraman from Reuters news agency named Issam Abdallah was killed by shellfire while he was reporting near a village called Alma al-Shaab in Lebanon. The IDF is checking if it’s true that Israeli soldiers shot the shell, as claimed by Lebanon.

The Israeli army sent many more soldiers to the border recently. However, the defense minister said they don’t want a war in the north.

If Hezbollah decides to go to war, it will face severe consequences. Very difficult or burdensome. “But if it controls itself, we will show respect and maintain the current situation,” he said.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said that his country sent a message to Israel. The message basically said that if Israel does not stop its cruel actions in Gaza, Iran cannot just watch and do nothing.

He also said that if the war got bigger, the United States would have a lot of problems and lose a lot.

The US announced that they were sending another group of warships to the eastern Mediterranean Sea to prevent any harmful actions against Israel or any attempt to expand the conflict after Hamas attacked.

  • “If you don’t want to suffer, never dream of becoming MUSIGA president’ – A Plus fires

“If you don’t want to suffer, never dream of becoming MUSIGA president’ – A Plus fires

Entertainment pundit and political activist, Kwame Obeng Asare, popularly known as A Plus, has expressed his concerns about the lack of effectiveness of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) following the election of new executives.

He believes that MUSIGA has not been successful in delivering its mandate to benefit musicians in the country. While acknowledging the experience of the newly elected President, Bessa Simons, A Plus is skeptical about the union’s ability to turn its fortunes around, describing the recent elections as a waste of time and resources. He believes MUSIGA has lost value in recent times within the creative arts industry.

“Did they [MUSGA] waste money to invest in elections? Bessa is a great guy just that it won’t work. it is a waste of everybody’s time. The reason why people joined MUSIGA previously was because when you go for a Visa the embassy would ask for your MUSIGA card because that was the only evidence to show that you’re a musician,” he said.

A Plus questioned the decision of Bessa Simons to take on the position of leading MUSIGA at a time when the union was facing significant challenges. He wished Bessa Simons success in his new role as MUSIGA president and hoped for his excellence in the position.

“So that made people who are not musicians also do it because they want to travel abroad. The only benefit was the MUSIGA card and even now I don’t think the value is the same. Right now MUSIGA has collapsed especially with my experience. If you don’t want to suffer, never dream of becoming MUSIGA president. I don’t know why Bessa went for the position.

“The only thing we can do is to pray for him to succeed but I don’t think he can change anything because it has already collapsed. He was part of those who revived it when it was dormant sometime back so we hope that he can do something meaningful,” he added.

    Background

Bessa Simons was elected as the new President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA). The election took place on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, and was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.

Bessa Simons won with a total of 324 votes, defeating his only opponent, Ras Caleb Appiah-Levi, who received 66 votes.

This election marked the end of a series of postponements and brought renewed hope for peace and harmony within the organization, which aims to promote the welfare and advancement of Ghanaian music and artists. Bessa Simons previously served as the acting MUSIGA President following the conclusion of Bice Osei Kuffour’s eight-year tenure as President in August 2019.

  • Do you menstruate twice a month? Find out what causes it

Do you menstruate twice a month? Find out what causes it

Experiencing two menstrual cycles in a month, a condition known as “frequent” or “irregular” menstruation, can be caused by various factors. It’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional if you consistently have this issue, as it might be indicative of an underlying health concern. Some common factors behind menstruating twice a month include:

    1. Stress: High levels of stress can disrupt your menstrual cycle. Stress may lead to hormonal imbalances that can cause frequent or irregular periods.
    2. Hormonal Imbalance: Hormonal fluctuations, often due to conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or thyroid disorders, can result in irregular periods.
    3. Weight Changes: Significant weight loss or gain can affect your menstrual cycle. Extreme changes in body weight can impact your hormones, causing irregular periods.
    4. Birth Control: Some forms of birth control, like intrauterine devices (IUDs) or hormonal contraceptives, can affect menstrual patterns. It’s not uncommon to experience irregular bleeding when using these methods.
    5. Perimenopause: In the years leading up to menopause (perimenopause), hormonal fluctuations can lead to irregular menstrual cycles. This may cause periods to be closer together or further apart.
    6. Uterine Fibroids: Noncancerous growths in the uterine wall, known as uterine fibroids, can lead to heavy and frequent menstrual bleeding.
    7. Endometrial Hyperplasia: This condition involves the thickening of the uterine lining and can lead to abnormal bleeding patterns.
    8. Infections or Inflammation: Pelvic infections or inflammatory conditions can disrupt the normal menstrual cycle.
    9. Medications: Some medications, like anticoagulants or certain types of antidepressants, can affect menstrual bleeding.
    10. Intense Exercise: High levels of physical activity, especially in athletes, can lead to changes in menstruation. This may include frequent or irregular periods.
    11. Contraceptive Devices: Certain contraceptive devices, such as copper IUDs, may lead to heavier and more frequent periods.
    12. Cervical Polyps or Cysts: Abnormal growths in the cervix or ovarian cysts can sometimes result in frequent menstrual bleeding.

It’s important to note that occasional irregular periods may not necessarily indicate a severe health problem. However, if you consistently experience two menstrual cycles a month or have concerns about your menstrual health, it’s advisable to consult with a healthcare provider. They can help identify the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatments or lifestyle changes to regulate your menstrual cycle.

Poor blood circulation: Warning signs you shouldn’t ignore

Poor blood circulation can lead to various health problems, so it’s essential to be aware of the warning signs and symptoms. If you notice any of the following, you should seek medical advice and not ignore these symptoms:

    1. Numbness or Tingling: Persistent numbness, tingling, or a “pins and needles” sensation in your limbs, particularly in your arms and legs, could be a sign of poor circulation.
    2. Cold Extremities: If your hands, feet, or other extremities often feel unusually cold, even in warm conditions, it may be due to decreased blood flow.
    3. Swelling: Swelling in your legs, ankles, or feet, known as edema, can be a sign of poor circulation. It may be accompanied by a feeling of heaviness in the affected areas.
    4. Skin Changes: Changes in the color, texture, or condition of your skin, such as dryness, paleness, or a bluish tint, may indicate circulation problems.
    5. Fatigue or Muscle Weakness: Reduced blood flow can lead to reduced oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscles, resulting in weakness, fatigue, and difficulty in carrying out physical activities.

    8. Slow Wound Healing: If wounds, cuts, or sores take longer to heal than usual, it might be due to poor circulation, as adequate blood flow is essential for the body’s natural healing processes.
    9. Hair Loss: Inadequate blood circulation to the scalp can lead to hair loss or slow hair growth.
    10. Chest Pain or Discomfort: Reduced blood flow to the heart can lead to chest pain or discomfort, a condition known as angina. This can be a sign of atherosclerosis, a condition where arteries narrow and harden due to plaque buildup.
    11. Erectile Dysfunction: Poor blood circulation can affect blood flow to the genitals and lead to erectile dysfunction in men.
    12. Leg Pain or Cramping: Pain or cramping in the legs, especially during physical activity, could be a sign of peripheral artery disease (PAD), which is a circulation disorder.

If you experience these warning signs of poor blood circulation, it’s crucial to consult a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Ignoring these symptoms may lead to more severe health issues, so early detection and intervention are essential.

Kikibees CEO’s death: Audio conversation between the side chick and personal assistant leaks

A 7-minute leaked viral conversation between Kikibees CEO‘s alleged side chick and his personal assistant, Roy, has created quite a commotion online.

The audio captures the late Bennet Agyekum-Adoma crying out and struggling for his life while the side chick is interacting with his personal assistant, urgently asking for help to save the situation.

Bennet, who was at Yandey Joof’s residence on the night he passed away, can be heard in the background expressing pain and suggesting that he had been set up.

“Evil woman, you set me up. Why did you do this to me?” Bennet was heard saying repeatedly.

While uttering those words, his side chick placed a call to Roy requesting help as she mentioned she desperately needed to get him out of the house.

This was captured in a recorded phone call with Roy.

Yandey: “Where are you? I need to get him out of the house. I am looking for the keys

Roy: I am on my way but why is he saying that you set him up?

Yandey: (ignores the question) I am looking for the keys

Yandey: (Whispers aside) I have the keys in my pocket but I just don’t want to open the door, he will go out if I do.

Roy: Can I talk to him please?

Yandey: He will spoil my phone; he has already spoilt his.

Yandey: Hurry, I don’t want him to kill himself in my house

Many people have been questioning why Yandey didn’t open the door to seek help, given the urgency of the situation. Osebo the Zaraman, who is married to the late Kikibees CEO’s sister, shared the same audio as evidence and alleged that there was an attempt to cover up the truth in the case. Osebo asserted that the claims of substance abuse and suicide being linked to Ben’s death are false.

Grammy Awards 2023: I’m not obligated to win an award; I’ve paved the way for others – Rocky Dawuni

The Grammy-nominated Reggae musician, songwriter, and producer, Rocky Dawuni, has stated that he doesn’t feel obligated to win a Grammy himself. He believes he has opened doors for Ghanaian artists to reach the Grammy stage through his multiple nominations and is leaving the opportunity open for any deserving artist to achieve that feat.

In an interview with Ameyaw TV at the Exclusive Men of the Year (EMY) Awards, Rocky emphasized that Ghana has a wealth of creative talents and opportunities to learn from legendary artists who have left a lasting legacy. He encourages young talents to strive for excellence and make their mark on the global stage.

“The thing is that I am not obliged, the way has already been opened, I have created nominations and now Ghanaian artists are getting the opportunity and it is open for every and any artist, it’s not really about me or someone, we just need to create a credible opportunity and then one of us or some of us, one of our musicians can go grab it, it could be me, it could be somebody else,” he stated.

Rocky Dawuni believes in a few years, Ghana will see great rewards from their hardwork.

“Ghana is a well known for creativity, Ghanaians have a crop of musicians and they are extremely creative and they have the opportunity to learn the business and also have been walking in the footsteps of giants who set good standards so I think we have such an incredible new crops of musicians and Ghana is going to make a lot of headway in the years to come,” he said.

The Ghanaian music industry has encountered a number of difficulties in recent years when it comes to promoting music on a global scale, while the Nigerian and other music industries have made significant strides, including winning the Grammy, the highest award in the music business.

The Grammy nominations have begun, and Rocky Dawuni, a three-time nominee, has submitted his most recent single, “Shade Tree,” for consideration.

Tigray observes mourning period in memory of its war dead

People in the Ethiopian region of Tigray are gathering to remember and honor those who died in the recent civil war.

A fight that lasted for two years, starting in November 2020, is believed to have caused the deaths of many hundreds of thousands of people.

The war started because the government of Ethiopia and groups in the Tigray region wanted power.

This weekend, I went to three memorial ceremonies in Tigray.

As a way to show respect and remember those who passed away, people came together in churches and mosques during a three-day period of mourning.

Kidu Kiros had to leave her home and now lives in a camp for people who had to leave their homes. She told me that she lost her two sons in the war.

“If we are allowed to have control over our own country and go back to our homes, I believe that the loss of my children would have been worth it. ” We need effective and fair governing. My children have sacrificed their lives for their country, and we want their land back,” she said.

Hagazi Haftu, who lives in the camp and lost family members, said that our children fought for the pride and progress of Tigray. Therefore, we want the independence of Tigray to be recognized and we want to go back to our home.

Getachew Reda, the temporary leader of Tigray, gave a serious speech while people were grieving. He praised the courage and strong dedication of the heroes who died and gave everything for their cause.

In Tigrayan towns, people gathered with candles to remember those who died, while Tigrayans all over the world observed a quiet moment to honor their memory.

The time for grieving will go on until Monday evening.

Serengeti named Africa’s top park for the seventh time

Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park has been chosen as the top park in Africa for the fifth consecutive time.

It won against six other parks to receive the World Travel Awards this year. The World Travel Awards is a global organization that recognizes outstanding achievements in travel and tourism.

The Serengeti, known for the large number of wildebeests that migrate there, has won the award every year since 2019.

The Tanzanian National Parks Authority (Tanapa) was very happy and proud that the Serengeti won five times in a row.

Other African countries that were also considered for the title of “best national park” included Botswana’s Central Kalahari Game Reserve, Namibia’s Etosha National Park, Uganda’s Kidepo Valley National Park, South Africa’s Kruger National Park, and Kenya’s Masai Mara National Reserve.

Kikibees CEO death: Osebo the Zaraman claims the late Bennet’s wrist was slit

Osebo the Zaraman, an in-law to the late Kikibees CEO, Ben Adomah Agyekum, has weighed in on the ongoing controversies surrounding Ben’s death. He has revealed certain details observed on Ben’s body that challenge the narrative of his death being linked to substance abuse.

According to Osebo, there were clear signs that contradicted the initial police report. He mentioned that Ben had slash marks on his wrist and that his watch had been tampered with. These observations raise questions about the circumstances surrounding his death, suggesting it may not have been solely related to substance abuse.

“Have you ever seen someone under the influence of drugs, take off his watch, slit his wrist, and wear it back on the exact spot his wrist was slit? Have you seen or heard such before? Have you heard a drunk man stab himself? This is my brother-in-law whom I have known for 20 good years. He is not a bad person; he is a man of peace but someone has killed him.

“Since nobody wants to help us with justice, we will come out with evidence that someone was behind this. I am very sad but I know that God is God so the truth will surely prevail. Whoever is concealing the truth, whoever has taken a bribe to conceal the truth, I summon you to God, to the river gods, ancestors. I summon him or her to all the spirits in this world,” he stated in a TikTok video.

Osebo continued: “There are situations that people get involved in accidents and their entire bodies crush. They cush to the core, without any trace. They are mashed to the ground like how the corn mill grinds stuff and that is exactly what I wish for these people. God himself is a justice God.

“It is true that dead men don’t talk but God always speaks for them. His blood will speak and justice will prevail. If your relative was killed, how would you feel? If you kill someone and take money to hide the truth, God will deal with you. He who kills by the sword dies by the sword. Keep doing what you are doing, you will meet your reward very soon,” he added.

Eritrea reacts to contentious remarks made by Abiy about Red Sea

Officials in Eritrea stated that they will not engage in discussions about Ethiopia’s use of the Red Sea after some questionable remarks made by Addis Ababa.

During his speech to lawmakers, Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed explained that having access to the Red Sea is extremely important for the survival of his country.

Mr Abiy said that the Red Sea and the Nile River are really important for Ethiopia and can either help it grow or destroy it. Some people think that what he said might lead to problems with Eritrea.

Ethiopia became the biggest landlocked country in Africa when Eritrea separated from it in 1993. Since then, it has relied on the small country of Djibouti for more than 85% of the things it brings in and sends out.

Ethiopia said some time ago that it wanted to build its navy again. Abiy mentioned that ports in Eritrea, Djibouti, and Somaliland are places where we can peacefully acquire facilities.

A short message from Eritrea’s Ministry of Information on Monday said that recent discussions about access to the sea and related topics were too much. It said that the issue has confused everyone who is paying attention.

Eritrea helped the government of Addis Ababa during a very violent war in the Ethiopian region of Tigray.

Prime Minister Abiy collaborated with Eritrean leader Isias Afeworki in 2018 to bring an end to a long and difficult 20-year war between their countries.

  • Four kidnapped Ukrainian children returned by Russia

Four kidnapped Ukrainian children returned by Russia

Russia has said yes to giving back four kids from Ukraine to their families. This happened because of an agreement made by Qatar.

The repatriation is a program that aims to bring back more children who were taken away by Russia after their big invasion last year.

The youngest kid of the four is 2 years old, and the oldest is 17.

Ukraine found out that Russia has taken away 20,000 children from Ukraine.

But it is believed that the actual number of people deported is much greater.

In March, the International Criminal Court declared that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and his commissioner for children’s rights Maria Lvova-Belova are wanted for arrest. They have been accused of sending Ukrainian children out of the country without following the law.

Russia said that its reasons were only to help people, and they claimed that they saved lots of Ukrainian kids from harm. Important people in Russia didn’t take the charges against them seriously.

The diplomat, who wanted to keep their identity a secret, explained that the plan Qatar had been working on with Moscow and Kyiv will be put to the test when the four children return.

They said they hope that if the first repatriation is successful, more repatriations will happen.

Qatari Minister Lolwah Al Khater said that they are helping to solve a problem, and the return of some people is just the beginning.

“We are happy that both sides have shown dedication and honesty during this process. We hope that this will result in more efforts to decrease tensions and create trust between the two groups,” she said.

But it has been difficult to bring the children out of Russia. In at least one case, a child had to go back home by going through Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland.

One of the four kids was sent back to Ukraine and reunited with his grandmother. He arrived there on Monday after getting back with his family on Friday.

The other three kids, who were also reunited with their families, will most likely come to Ukraine on Monday or Tuesday.

Thousands of children in Ukraine have been taken away from their families and brought to Russia. The government in Kyiv says that these children face a deliberate attempt to erase their Ukrainian identity.

Sometimes Ukrainian families have had to travel to Russia in difficult and exhausting conditions to bring their children back.

Some Ghanaian youths have reportedly helped a man to regain his strength for round two of beatings after being beaten over a suspected case of theft.

According to reports, some young men in Takoradi, Ghana gave an energy drink to the thief so he can regain himself to receive another round of beating.

An eyewitness who shared the story online said the hoodlum was caught right in the act of stealing.

Instead of handing him over to the Police, the area boys took the matter into their hands and gave him the beating of his life.

Noticing that he’s weak from the beatings, the thief was given Rush Energy to recover so that the beatings can resume.

The eyewitness posted a photo of the moment the alleged thief was seen taking the energy drink as youths surrounded him.

    The picture had an inscription which read;

”Welcome to Takoradi Ghana, where subsequent to beating a criminal, we offer him a container of surge caffeinated drink so we can beat him once more. You perceive how kind we are. No spot like Taadi”.

10 arrested for hunting and selling bush meat

In a recent crackdown, the police have arrested ten individuals for violating the temporary ban on hunting and trading assorted bush meat in parts of the Central Region. The suspects, comprising hunters and chop bar operators, were apprehended in Mankessim and Assin Fosu.

A joint team from the Forestry Commission and Police Service confiscated meat from duikers, bush rats, and other wildlife species during the operation, which aimed to enforce the suspension (closed season) of hunting for wildlife animals from August to December this year.

Ms. Ernestina Adumea Anie, the Public Relations Officer of the Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission (FC), confirmed the arrests to the Ghanaian Times. Statements have been taken from the suspects, who are currently assisting the police in their investigations. According to Ms. Anie, the hunters were caught without licenses, while the chop bar operators were engaging in illegal trade of wildlife species.

This crackdown is part of the ongoing efforts by the Wildlife Division of the FC, the police, and park managers to ensure compliance with directives protecting wildlife. Traders in the affected areas have been educated on the importance of suspending their activities during this closed season, which runs from August 1 to December 1, 2023.

The closed season was instituted by the Wildlife Division of FC under the Wildlife Conservation Regulation, 1971 LI 685, with the aim of controlling the overexploitation of wild animals. During this period, hunting and capturing of wildlife are prohibited, allowing the animals to procreate and nurture their young ones without disturbance.

Ms. Anie emphasized the Wildlife Division of the FC’s determination to protect wildlife and the ecosystem in the country, urging stakeholders in the sector to collaborate in safeguarding these precious species.
