Kumawood actress Oheneyere Mercy Asiedu Agyemang Duah has thrown her support behind National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama for the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Asiedu praised Mahama for his significant contributions to the creative arts industry during his tenure, which greatly benefited many individuals in the field.

She revealed that under Mahama’s leadership, colleagues without personal transportation were provided with vehicles and other forms of assistance, improving their quality of life.

“During his time, he made us feel valued, and thanks to his support, some individuals who previously had to walk now have vehicles to drive. I urge my fellow creative arts practitioners to rally behind him so that we too can reap the rewards, as we are all Ghanaians,” she emphasized.

As part of his plan to revitalize the creative arts sector, Mahama has proposed the establishment of a dedicated television channel to showcase the industry’s achievements. He will be competing against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, and other party candidates in the upcoming elections scheduled for December 7, 2024.

Check out netizens’ reactions to Bawumia’s dance moves to Guru’s Lapaz Toyota

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Samira Bawumia, caused a buzz on social media when they were captured spontaneously dancing to a song by Ghanaian artist Guru at a rally in Kumasi.

The event was part of the Bawumia Youth Connect campaign and featured a lively performance by Guru, known for his hit “Lapaz Toyota.”

During Guru’s performance, the Vice President couldn’t resist dancing when the lyrics “Odo me de car no be ma wo” played, a line that humorously resonates with Dr. Bawumia’s political persona as the ‘mate’ aspiring to be Ghana’s ‘leading driver.’

The video garnered diverse reactions online. Some felt that the Vice President’s dancing displayed a lack of seriousness towards his presidential aspirations.

On the other hand, some viewers expressed skepticism about supporting Dr. Bawumia despite his efforts to engage with the public.

Demolish all cattle ranches on the streets, seize animals – Local Government Minister to MMDCEs

Minister for Local Government, Martin Adjei Mensah-Korsah, has issued a directive to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to demolish cattle ranches found on streets and confiscate the animals.

This move addresses increasing concerns about cattle and other animals sharing road space with vehicles on major streets.

Mr. Adjei Mensah-Korsah emphasized that both the chief executives and animal owners would be held accountable if the directive is ignored.

In an interview with TV3 on Wednesday, June 12, the Minister stated, “When parks and gardens invest resources to enhance our medians and plant flowers to beautify the city, it’s unacceptable for people to let their animals roam and destroy them for food. We cannot tolerate this behavior.

“MMDCEs, led by their CEOs, will bear the responsibility if this issue persists. It is unacceptable to ignore the problem of people turning our ceremonial streets into grazing grounds.

“We urge the assemblies to take necessary actions to improve our society. They must act responsibly to make our communities better places to live.”

Stonebwoy details reasons for his no-show at Baba Sadiq’s SallahFest

Ghanaian music icon Stonebwoy has shared his reasons for not appearing at the 3Music SallahFest in April 2024, despite being announced as a headline act alongside his rival, dancehall artiste Shatta Wale.

Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, the owner of 3Music, revealed that Stonebwoy’s manager cited displeasure with Shatta Wale’s inclusion as a major factor in Stonebwoy’s decision to withdraw. However, in a June 2024 interview with Hitz FM, Stonebwoy offered a different perspective, attributing his absence to a breach of agreement regarding the event’s promotion.

Stonebwoy explained that the concert was supposed to be a charity event, free of charge and not publicly promoted. Contrary to this agreement, Sadiq advertised the event with incorrect flyers. This breach of trust led to Stonebwoy’s decision to pull out, which he communicated to the organizers.

“The organizers were in contact with my team, but before I could be informed of the final outcome, Baba Sadiq had already posted a flyer, and it was the wrong one. I don’t know what his plans were. That was what broke us, and we couldn’t go. We communicated that,” Stonebwoy said.

He emphasized that his intention was not to disrupt the event. “If we had ill intentions, we could have said we couldn’t make it, but I suggested we leave it so the show could proceed smoothly. Afterwards, if asked, we could simply say, ‘I was sick. I was not feeling well.’ So it wouldn’t appear like we were trying to disrupt someone else’s show.”

Stonebwoy also expressed his frustration over the personal attacks and falsehoods spread following the incident, which concerned even his family. “The insults on my life went too far. I received calls from my father, among others. We were like, ‘Bro, what levels of lies are these? These lies are too much to contain.’ But we just stayed calm throughout.”

He concluded by stating, “Nobody can say they’ve seen a response from any of my people regarding all the misrepresentations and attacks on my character. Whatever the plan was or is, only he can explain what his intentions were or are to this day.”

Go easy on Lil Win and stop the criticism – Prophet Kumchacha reacts to actor’s accident case

Founder and Leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Nicholas Osei, better known as Prophet Kumchacha has called on Ghanaians to stop making unfounded accusations against Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as LilWin.

On May 25, 2024, LilWin was involved in a head-on collision in Amakom, Kumasi, involving his Benz and another vehicle. The accident led to injuries for LilWin and two other individuals and resulted in the tragic death of a three-year-old boy.

Despite his injuries, LilWin attended the premiere of his new film, “A Country Called Ghana,” at the KNUST CCB Auditorium later that same day. He was subsequently arrested and later released on a GHC50,000 bail by a district court in Kumasi.

During an interview on Onua TV, Prophet Kumchacha appealed to the public to refrain from harshly judging LilWin, asserting that the actor’s remarks and the accident were purely coincidental.

“I watched the video where LilWin suggested the movie might cause someone harm. I ask Ghanaians not to hold this against him.

“I’m not sure what was on his mind at that moment. But he’s a comedian, and he was joking. His statement and the tragic accident are just a coincidence.

“The public should show him some understanding and stop the unfounded allegations that he had used the child for rituals,” Prophet Kumchacha urged.

I’m not in any rivalry with anybody, I’m focused on my career – Stonebwoy

Ghanaian dancehall star Stonebwoy has made it clear that he has moved beyond industry rivalries and will not engage in any disputes with other musicians.

In an interview on Asaase FM on June 12, 2024, the ‘Therapy’ hitmaker emphasized his commitment to positivity, influenced by his marriage, and distanced himself from any conflicts.

“I’m not in any rivalry with anybody… I just have to state that. Because this is a good opportunity to let the world know I’m not in a rivalry situation. I’m a married man,” Stonebwoy declared.

Recently crowned as the TGMA Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy expressed satisfaction with his life and career, saying, “I’m solid. I’m not fighting anyone. We can all see.”

Reflecting on past industry conflicts, particularly with fellow dancehall star Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy explained that genuine rivalry requires ongoing exchanges, which he finds unproductive and unnecessary. “A beef is when you get replies. A rivalry is when it’s back and forth. So it’s not worth it. It’s not qualified to be called a rivalry,” he noted.

Despite several reconciliation attempts, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale’s relationship has remained rocky. Recently, the two were in the spotlight after Shatta Wale’s concert, scheduled for June 8, 2024, at the TF Hostel at the University of Ghana, was cancelled. Shatta Wale’s camp accused Stonebwoy of influencing the cancellation to avoid clashing with his own concert at the university on the same day.

However, the University of Ghana clarified that Shatta Wale’s concert was cancelled due to procedural issues and not because of any interference from Stonebwoy.

Stop insulting Kwame Despite for his blood donation initiative – Dep. Health Minister tells critics

Deputy Health Minister Alexander Akwasi Acquah has defended Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, CEO of Despite Media Group, against criticisms related to a past blood donation initiative. Acquah commended Despite’s efforts to organize the blood drive, which aimed to help patients in dire need of blood at hospitals.

Acquah criticized allegations that the blood donation was intended for monetary rituals, calling such claims inappropriate. In a press briefing, he labeled the derogatory comments as “nonsense,” suggesting that they were meant to undermine the business tycoon’s contributions.

“The government can’t handle everything alone. Initiatives like these attract wealthy individuals who want to give back to society. It’s absurd for anyone to claim ‘he [Kwame Despite] is collecting the blood for money,’ and for us to remain silent while these baseless accusations spread. This kind of talk discourages other well-meaning Ghanaians from getting involved,” Acquah stated.

He noted that severe public criticism has dissuaded prominent individuals from organizing similar blood donation events and urged the public to move away from such negativity.

“Kwame Despite and his family would use the blood if needed. But look at the service they’ve provided—using their media outlets free of charge. We need to challenge and dispel these myths,” he added.

Back in 2018, Despite’s media organizations held a community blood donation event. However, some people advised against participating, claiming the blood would be used for rituals. Acquah has now strongly condemned these harmful and unfounded remarks.

NPP will loose the 2024 elections even if Ken supports Bawumia – Kumchacha

Founder of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha has expressed his astonishment at seeing Kennedy Agyapong campaigning for NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Kumchacha was convinced that Agyapong would avoid supporting Bawumia due to their well-known political rivalry.

In a viral video shared by blogger Thosecalledcelebs, Kumchacha remarked that Agyapong’s past criticisms of Bawumia could be exploited by opposition parties as the general elections draw near. Despite Agyapong’s backing of Bawumia, Kumchacha remains skeptical about the NPP’s chances in the 2024 elections, citing their governance performance.

“I’ve seen Ken Agyapong trending on social media after he was spotted campaigning for Bawumia in Kumasi. Despite this, I believe the NPP is heading for opposition. The statements Agyapong made about Bawumia will likely be used against them by the public,” he noted.

Kumchacha highlighted that Agyapong had previously claimed he was offered an $800 million bribe to withdraw from the presidential primaries and had criticized Bawumia’s economic capabilities. Witnessing Agyapong endorse Bawumia at a campaign event left him profoundly shocked and served as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of trusting individuals.

In an interview on Wontumi TV, Mzbel, who grew up in Ghana, expressed her belief that seeking foreign citizenship through childbirth overseas is unwise despite its apparent advantages. She shared her honest perspective, saying she feels embarrassed by this trend among celebrities.

Mzbel explained that choosing to give birth outside Ghana would send the wrong message to her children, implying that better opportunities are only available abroad.

“People were asking why I did not give birth abroad, but I felt shy to do so. Having Ghanaian blood, why would I stay abroad to give birth just for some opportunities?” she questioned.

She further elaborated, “I won’t do it because I don’t want my children to believe one must travel abroad to succeed. It’s a common practice, but I’m embarrassed by it.”

Her comments follow a recent debate sparked by a Ghanaian living in the Netherlands, who claimed that a Dutch passport is more valuable than a PhD from the University of Ghana. I was very naive when I accepted my boyfriends marriage proposal – Ghanaian pharmacist

Ghanaian pharmacist Naa Nhyirabea Armoo recently reflected on her inexperience at the time of her marriage.

She admitted that her limited understanding of marriage and the potential challenges influenced her decision back then.

Nhyirabea mentioned that if she had the opportunity to choose again, she would prioritize finding a partner with strong religious values. During a discussion on the HomeAffairs show on JoyPrime TV, she expressed a preference for a man deeply committed to faith and religious service.

“Looking back, I realize how naive I was when I made my choice. I often tell my husband that if he were to propose to me now, knowing who I have become, he would have a tough time. I didn’t fully understand what I was getting into. I sought someone who would accept me for who I am, encourage my authenticity, and appreciate my true self. I wanted a companion who could be a friend and whose principles resonated with mine.

“However, as I’ve gone through marriage, I’ve come to understand that what matters most to me is a partner deeply rooted in faith, someone who has found God, understands God, and consistently chooses God’s path when making decisions. Marriage is unpredictable, and you can’t foresee what might happen,” she explained.

I deserve an apology – Stonebwoy reacts to Shatta Wale’s rants over UG hall week fracas

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artist Stonebwoy has finally responded to the controversy surrounding the cancellation of Wale’s performance at the University of Ghana (UG) campus concert.

This event, part of the university’s hall week celebrations, sparked tension as both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were slated to perform on the same evening.

Both artistes have a history of violence dating from the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), where both artistes were banned afterward.

Shatta Wale’s performance being cancelled while Stonebwoy’s proceeded led to Shatta Wale venting his frustrations on social media, using derogatory language aimed at Stonebwoy and his family.

Stonebwoy, speaking on Asaase radio, dismissed Shatta Wale’s claims, calling them baseless. “It’s ridiculous for my colleague to make such accusations. It suggests I hold power that I don’t have. I’m not an event organizer,” Stonebwoy remarked.

Despite expecting such a response from Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy expressed indifference.

“I’m not surprised that the criticisms were directed at me; it’s a pattern with him. While I believe an apology is warranted, I’m not holding my breath for one,” Stonebwoy concluded.

We did not cancel Shatta Wale’s concert – UG management clears the air

A recent controversy erupted at the University of Ghana (UG) involving popular dancehall artists Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.

The Dean of Students, Prof. Rosina Kyeremanten, addressed the allegations, stating that the university and hall representatives had no issues with Shatta Wale.

The cancellation of Shatta Wale’s performance at TF Hostel was due to the organizers proposing a Karaoke Night rather than an Artiste Night, which required additional security measures amid a ban on student gatherings.

Prof. Kyeremanten explained that any event in university halls must be approved by her office with a detailed program outline. Stonebwoy’s performance at Limann Hall proceeded because the organizers submitted a request for an Artiste Night, including Stonebwoy, which was approved after necessary security arrangements were made.

The controversy arose when Shatta Wale accused Stonebwoy of influencing the cancellation, alleging they were prevented from performing at the same venue. The event’s organizers confirmed receiving instructions not to allow Shatta Wale’s performance, despite earlier resolutions with the Dean’s office.

The Dean emphasized the importance of peace and security on campus, noting the gradual opening up for alumni reunions and events, with the potential for lifting the ban on gatherings in the future.

You created a mess in 2019 VGMA’s, no AOTY will be announced- Ola Michael replies Stonebwoy

Entertainment commentator Ola Michael has voiced his disapproval of Stonebwoy‘s recent plea to be retroactively awarded the VGMA Artiste of the Year for 2019. According to Michael, revising the history of the awards would undermine the important lessons from that year’s events.

The 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was disrupted by a physical altercation between dancehall artists Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. The incident occurred when Stonebwoy was named Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year, leading to a confrontation on stage. Both artists were subsequently charged with offensive conduct and granted bail.

At the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards in June 2024, where Stonebwoy was named Artiste of the Year, he requested that the organizers, Charterhouse, officially acknowledge him as the 2019 Artiste of the Year. This title had remained unawarded due to the onstage incident.

On the June 8, 2024, episode of United Showbiz, Ola Michael criticized the idea, emphasizing that the 2019 events should remain untouched as a historical lesson.

“I’m disappointed that Robert Klah and Charterhouse are considering Stonebwoy’s request,” Michael stated. “The 2019 award wasn’t presented for a reason, and changing that now would erase the valuable lessons we learned.”

Michael also responded to Stonebwoy’s assertion that he was the rightful winner in 2019. “Every artist has the right to boast, but we need to respect history. Let’s preserve it as it is.”

Instead, Michael suggested that the late dancehall artist Ebony, who posthumously won Artiste of the Year in 2018, should be recognized as the titleholder for 2019 by default.

“Every year, someone is named Artiste of the Year. Since no one was awarded the title in 2019, it’s only fair to recognize Ebony as the reigning Artiste of the Year for that year,” Michael argued. “The absence of a new winner means she should retain the title for 2019.”

2019 Artiste of the Year belongs to Ebony, you can’t change history – Ola Michael to Stonebwoy

Entertainment pundit Ola Michael has expressed his disagreement with Stonebwoy‘s appeal to be recognized as the VGMA Artiste of the Year for 2019. Ola believes that altering the award’s history would undermine the lessons learned from that year’s events.

The 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were marred by a conflict between dancehall artists Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. The altercation erupted when Stonebwoy was announced as the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year, leading to a confrontation on stage. Both artists faced charges for their conduct and were subsequently granted bail.

During the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards in June 2024, Stonebwoy, who won the Artiste of the Year award, urged the event organizers, Charterhouse, to retroactively name him the 2019 Artiste of the Year, a title that went unannounced due to the incident.

Appearing on United Showbiz on June 8, 2024, Ola Michael criticized this idea, arguing that the 2019 incident should remain a part of history as a cautionary tale.

“I’m disappointed in Robert Klah and Charterhouse for considering Stonebwoy’s request,” Ola stated. “We can’t rewrite history; the 2019 title wasn’t awarded for a reason. Changing that erases the important lessons we should learn from it.”

Ola also dismissed Stonebwoy’s claims of being the intended winner in 2019, saying, “Every artist has the right to boast, but history should be preserved. Let’s keep it sacred.”

He proposed that the late Dancehall artist Ebony, who posthumously won the Artiste of the Year in 2018, should be considered the de facto titleholder for 2019.

“Typically, an Artiste of the Year is named every year. If no one was officially crowned in 2019, it’s only fair to consider Ebony as having retained the title,” Ola argued. “Since the 2019 award wasn’t given, Ebony should be recognized as the reigning Artiste of the Year for that period.”

“Proverbs 19:9” – Stonebwoy’s cryptic reply to accusers amid Shatta Wale concert cancellation brouhaha

Reggae/Dancehall artist Stonebwoy made a cryptic Facebook post following the controversy over the cancellation of a concert scheduled for June 18, 2024.

The controversy began when a concert featuring dancehall artist Shatta Wale at James Top Nelson Yankah Hall (TF hostel) was canceled, causing an uproar on social media. Despite Shatta Wale’s promotion and anticipation for the event, the university’s Dean of Students office did not approve it.

Shatta Wale accused his rival Stonebwoy of influencing the cancellation to prevent them from performing at the same venue. Wave Africa, the event’s organizers, confirmed they were instructed not to allow Shatta Wale’s performance due to an ‘order from above,’ despite having resolved earlier issues with the Dean’s office.

However, Prof. Rosina Kyeremanten, the Dean of Students at the University of Ghana, stated that the university had no issues with Shatta Wale, and the cancellation was not influenced by any external party.

On June 11, 2024, Stonebwoy posted Proverbs 19:9 on Facebook, which reads, “A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever pours out lies will perish.” Many on social media saw this as a subtle jab at those accusing him of being behind the cancellation.

Meanwhile, Stonebwoy’s event at Liman Hall proceeded without issue and was a success. This controversy harkens back to a 2019 incident at the Ghana Music Awards, where both artists were involved in a confrontation, resulting in a police bond preventing them from sharing a venue.
