  • Your sense of entitlement is extreme – Amanda Jissih fires Edward Akwasi Boateng

Your sense of entitlement is extreme – Amanda Jissih fires Edward Akwasi Boateng

Entertainment commentator Amanda Jissih has voiced strong criticism against gospel musician Edward Akwasi Boateng, denouncing what she perceives as his excessive sense of entitlement within the industry.

The controversy arose when Boateng expressed disappointment in fellow musician MOGmusic for allegedly failing to honour a pledge to recognize him at an event.

Jissih, speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, clarified that Boateng had left the event before the scheduled recognition due to unforeseen delays.

“There was just so much going on with him [MOGmusic], so it wasn’t that he ignored or had forgotten. Getting to the end of the show, he [MOGmusic] tried looking for him [Edward], but he wasn’t there. The plan was that after everything, they would make their accounts and honour their pledge,” said Amanda Jissih.

“Times are hard and so if someone promises you something, you need to be aware that they do not owe you. It’s not by force that they must give you something. That sense of entitlement should die down. We acknowledge that you have worked hard but you are not entitled to anyone’s money. There was no point in going to grant interviews,” Amanda stated.

Jissih emphasised the need for gratitude and understanding, highlighting Boateng’s recent public struggle to make ends meet after personal challenges.

“He is even at fault because he didn’t wait till the end of the show to see what would happen, he left early. If he had waited till the end and was not recognized, then he would have a point because awards are not given at the beginning of a show.

“So he should take it easy. The entitlement is too much,” Amanda Jissih remarked.

She pointed out that several individuals and organisations, including Prophet Benard El Benard Nelson-Eshun and supporters of Angel TV and Angel FM, had extended generous support to Boateng in his time of need.

Expressing disapproval of Boateng’s public criticism of MOGmusic, Jissih urged humility and patience, noting that entitlement could hinder rather than help in such situations.

She concluded by suggesting that Boateng should have waited until the end of the event before making judgments and going public with his grievances.

  • I’m paid with malt and meat pie after ministration sometimes – ACP Kofi Sarpong

I’m paid with malt and meat pie after ministration sometimes – ACP Kofi Sarpong

Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician ACP Kofi Sarpong recently delved into the financial hurdles confronting many gospel artists within the music industry.

During an appearance on Prime Morning on Joy Prime on April 22, Sarpong candidly shared his personal challenges with the business aspect of gospel music.

He recounted instances where he performed at events without proper arrangements, driven solely by his passion for ministry.

“I even had a problem with my manager over this. Because under normal circumstances, if I’m invited to a programme, it should go through him. And then he tells me we go in here and all that. But before he realises it, I’m somewhere ministering. And after all these ministrations, what I gain out of it is malt and meat pie.

“And then these musicians we work with (the instrumentalists and backup singers) some of them, this is what they do to cater for themselves. So if they follow you, you cannot go take meat pies and tell them that this is what you were given. No, it’s not right. So sometimes I had to go into my own account and pay them,”ACP Kofi Sarpong stated.

However, he highlighted that such impromptu performances often resulted in inadequate compensation, not just for himself but also for the instrumentalists and backup singers who rely on these gigs for their livelihood.

“I have the passion, but now it’s gotten to a situation that is more involving. We spend a lot on projects nowadays so churches should help,” he said.

Sarpong emphasised the importance of fair remuneration, expressing concerns over instances where musicians receive minimal compensation, such as “malt and meat pie,” after dedicating their time and talent to performances.

He called for a balanced approach, where the costs incurred in pursuing music projects align with the earnings from performances.

Additionally, Sarpong urged churches and event organizers to recognize and value the contributions of artists, stressing the need for fair compensation to sustain a thriving gospel music industry.

  • Marriage is not easy – Oheneyere Gifty Anti

Renowned Ghanaian media personality Oheneyere Gifty Anti delved into the complexities of marriage, emphasizing the significant effort required for its success.

Gifty Anti stressed that marriage demands thorough mental, emotional, and psychological readiness to navigate its inevitable challenges effectively.

She highlighted the critical importance of choosing a life partner carefully, considering the lifelong commitment and responsibilities involved.

During the interview, when asked to describe marriage in one word, Gifty Anti candidly replied, “tough.”

She explained that the toughness stems from the extensive work, emotional investment, and mental agility required to sustain a healthy and fulfilling marital relationship.

Notably, Gifty Anti is married to traditional ruler Nana Ansah Kwao IV, with whom she shares a daughter, adding a personal dimension to her insights on the intricacies of married life.

Natalie Fort: What one word will you use to describe marriage?

Oheneyere Gifty Anti: It is tough, very tough.

Natalie Fort: What makes it so tough?

Oheneyere Gifty Anti:It takes a lot of work. It takes lots of emotions. There’s a word that comes to mind. I don’t know whether it will work, but it’s mental dexterity. You need to be mentally prepared. Emotionally, and psychologically prepared.

It is worth noting that Gifty is married to a traditional ruler, Nana Ansah Kwao IV.

They are blessed with one baby girl.

  • If you’re not vigilant; you can be killed for free – Nana Yaa Brefo on KODA’s death

If you’re not vigilant; you can be killed for free – Nana Yaa Brefo on KODA’s death

Prominent figure in Ghanaian media, Nana Yaa Brefo expressed outrage over the distressing events surrounding the late KODA’s life leading up to his demise.

The gospel musician’s health deterioration, allegedly due to medical malpractice at a hospital in Takoradi, has sparked a wave of concern and criticism.

Netizens, upon discovering KODA’s previous revelation about receiving incorrect medication from the said hospital for eight months, now link this to his sudden passing.

Blame is partially directed at the medical errors he encountered during his treatment.

Joining the chorus of disapproval, Nana Yaa Brefo laments the shortcomings of Ghana’s healthcare system.

Reflecting on KODA’s ordeal, she denounces the negligence that led to his suffering and ultimate loss.

“I chanced on his Facebook live where he was speaking about how some hospital gave him the wrong medication. He had an underlying health condition, and they had to give him a medicine which wasn’t good for his health. They gave him medicines that contained stuff not suitable for him. Some doctors are wicked!
Drawing attention to reports indicating kidney complications in KODA’s case, Nana Yaa Brefo highlights the desperate measures taken, including bringing in doctors from India for surgery.

“In Ghana, if you don’t protect yourself and stay vigilant, someone can kill you for free. If you don’t pray to God and keep an eye on that doctor treating you, he can kill you for free.

“According to some reports, he was battling with kidney issues. They even brought in doctors from India to conduct surgery on him. It’s not easy; it’s a sad story,” she stated.

She concludes with a touching remark, highlighting the need for individuals to be vigilant and prayerful when navigating Ghana’s healthcare landscape to avoid falling victim to avoidable tragedies.

  • I see nothing wrong with polygamy as a Christian – Dr. Grace Boadu’s boyfriend

I see nothing wrong with polygamy as a Christian – Dr. Grace Boadu’s boyfriend

Boyfriend of the late CEO of Gracelift Herbal Clinic, Dr. Grace Boadu, Pastor Kingsley Gyamfi, has expressed his views on polygamy, stating that he sees no problem with it from a Christian perspective.

In an interview on The Delay Show, Pastor Kingsley argued that even in biblical times, figures like Solomon and David engaged in polygamous relationships without facing divine condemnation.

He emphasised that the New Testament, while introducing modifications, did not outrightly prohibit polygamy.

Pastor Kingsley responded, “As a pastor, if you want to marry more than one woman, nobody can block you from doing that; it all depends on your finances.

“Even in the Bible, Solomon, David, and others had concubines. The New Testament was introduced to modify the Old Testament. So, if you will be picky on certain issues, then it’s your own cup of tea.”

Responding to questions about his relationship dynamics, particularly regarding his public involvement with Dr. Grace Boadu while still married, the pastor defended his stance, stating that the decision to marry multiple women should be based on personal and financial factors.

“While David and Solomon were building churches for God, where was Paul?

“Paul said he wishes every man was married to one woman, but that is not an emphatic statement. How can you compare what has been done with a suggestion?”

When questioned about Paul’s counsel for Christians to have one spouse, Pastor Kingsley countered that such advice wasn’t absolute and shouldn’t be compared to historical practices.

This conversation arose amid rumors of infidelity during Pastor Kingsley’s previous relationship, a matter he remains unapologetic about despite facing criticism.

  • I’ve never had a beef with Daddy Lumba; our fans were rather bitter rivals – Nana Acheampong

I’ve never had a beef with Daddy Lumba; our fans were rather bitter rivals – Nana Acheampong

Legendary Highlife musician Nana Acheampong debunked longstanding rumors of animosity between him and fellow icon Daddy Lumba.

Addressing the perception of a feud, Nana Acheampong clarified that their separation after their time as the Lumba Brothers was not rooted in any discord.

Contrary to popular belief, the musical split was not due to financial or personal disputes.

Nana Acheampong emphasised that their parting was a natural evolution in their musical journeys, not a fallout fueled by rivalry or contention.

“It may look as though we started this beef phenomenon, but my brother and I, with whom people say I had a beef, had nothing ill going on between us. We had no problem, not for a single day.

“What happened was that after we made music together for a while, we parted. People thought it was over money or women,” he said.

“The fans were hurt because they had admired us as a duo of young talented music performers, and breaking up, for them, was a signal that something big had caused it,” he explained.

Reflecting on the aftermath of their separation, he described how their fans divided into factions akin to football clubs, illustrating the intense loyalty and passion surrounding their music.

“When we broke into two different music brands, it also divided the fans, causing rivalry similar to the one between football teams Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, struggling for one trophy.”

Despite occasional lyrical clashes in their songs, Nana Acheampong clarified that these were not intentional diss tracks but rather part of the creative expression that characterised their era of Highlife music.

“Nana Acheampong Football Club and Daddy Lumba Football Club.”

“They were fighting, but my brother and I had no beef between us,” he stressed. “We didn’t do what is done now where there is give and take and verbal exchanges.” he stated unequivocally, highlighting that their music was a reflection of life experiences rather than targeted attacks.

He admitted that some of their songs “clashed.” However, concerning Daddy Lumba songs that seemed to aim at him, he offered, “In my opinion, those songs were not made about me. I don’t claim them for myself and vice versa.”

“These were just songs we released to entertain our fans,” he said.

The interview shed light on the rich history shared by Nana Acheampong and Daddy Lumba, from their beginnings as the Lumba Brothers to their individual successes in the music industry.

It underscored a narrative of mutual respect and musical evolution rather than animosity, setting the record straight on a longstanding misconception in Ghanaian music history.

Nana Acheampong’s latest collaboration, “Ye Wo Nyame” featuring Fameye, continues to showcase his timeless artistry and contribution to the vibrant Highlife tradition.

I lost my elder sister due to a nurse’s lack of urgency – Andy Dosty

Media personality Andy Dosty recently shared a heartbreaking incident involving the loss of his elder sister at Tema General Hospital due to a nurse’s lack of urgency.

Dosty recounted how the nurse, despite pleas, refused to administer medication because the next nurse had not yet arrived for duty.

“At the Tema General Hospital, my elder sister was admitted there for treatment so I used to visit her a lot. One day, there was a nurse who was supposed to administer medication to her, but he refused, saying he had closed.

“I pleaded with him to do it because the next person on duty had not reported yet, but he was adamant not to attend to her. When I left to speak to my sister, the guy left the office,” Andy Dosty said while speaking on the Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM.

Dosty expressed his helplessness during the situation, emphasising the critical need for timely medical care.

“I confronted him [the nurse] on his way home to be sensitive to the situation… The following day, I was in the studio preparing for an interview with Stonebwoy when I was informed my sister had passed away.”

He shared this experience while discussing the unfortunate passing of gospel musician KODA, whose case raised concerns about medical accountability.

The media personality’s revelation sheds light on the challenges individuals face in healthcare systems and the importance of swift and responsible medical attention.

    KODA’s health issues

KODA was battling with a condition called G6PD deficiency. While it has not been established that it was the cause of his death, the musician in a video that has gone viral said he took the wrong medication for eight months.

He spoke about how he had been given the wrong medication at an unnamed Takoradi-based hospital during one episode that he suffered, stressing how that incident changed him forever in terms of demanding answers on his health.

He said after he had been treated over two days and released back in 2016 thereabout, “I started developing some funny, funny symptoms here and there over time and I noticed something was not right.

“So, I remember one day being bold enough to google the medication I was given and I noticed that one major element that I was asked to take was a Sulphur-based medication and immediately I told myself that I had a medical condition called G6PD.

“I know for sure that Sulphur is one of the things that I am not supposed to take. Why, the people, they want kill me or what? Because I had taken the medication for over 6 close to 8 months,” he added.

Interest rates saw a decrease across the yield curve in the recent treasury bill auction, signaling a shift in investor sentiment.

The government experienced a marginal undersubscription, garnering GH¢3.341 billion instead of the targeted GH¢3.372 billion.

Gov’t  to reach agreement with IPPs on debt restructuring in May

During a press briefing at the conclusion of Ghana’s participation in the IMF/WBG Spring Meetings in Washington, Finance Minister-designate Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam revealed that the government is on track to reach an agreement with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) regarding debt restructuring.

This move is part of a larger strategy to address the energy sector’s financial challenges and reduce the deficit, which has contributed significantly to recent power outages across the country.

Dr. Adam emphasised the importance of this agreement in alleviating the financial strain caused by accumulated debts and legacy payments in the energy sector.

He announced that negotiations with IPPs are nearing completion, with a signed agreement expected within the next month.

This restructuring is anticipated to significantly reduce the debt overhang and shortfall, marking a crucial step towards financial sustainability as outlined in the Energy Sector Recovery Programme.

“As a result of these”, we have renegotiated with the IPPs to restructure the debt and once we complete the negotiations, the debt overhung, shortfall will reduce. I can tell you that in the next one month, we should be signing off with the IPPs on the restructuring of our debt,” Dr. Amin stated.

Ghana currently faces a substantial $1.9 billion energy sector financing gap, prompting the government to take proactive measures to stabilise the sector.

These measures include implementing the Energy Sector Recovery Programme initiated in 2019, renegotiating IPP agreements to lower generation costs, and conducting quarterly tariff adjustments to account for economic factors.

Additionally, the government plans to procure one million revenue-efficient metres through a partnership with the World Bank, aiming to bolster revenue and improve operational efficiency within the value chain.

“Once the shortfalls are reduced, we should be working towards bringing the sector into financial sustainability in line with the Energy Sector Recovery Programme.

“We assure investors that while there are challenges, we’re bold as a government to take the necessary bullet for us to put the sector in a more sustainable manner so as to address the challenges that investors are usually worried about.”

In response to these developments, the Institute for Energy Security (IES) has urged collaboration between the Energy and Finance Ministries to swiftly address the energy sector’s challenges.

The IES emphasised the need to allocate resources to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to reduce technical and commercial losses, enhance metering systems, and improve overall distribution efficiency.

These efforts are crucial for ensuring reliable and affordable electricity services, supporting economic growth and development in Ghana.

  • Ghana on course to establish MoU with its bilateral creditors on debt restructuring programme – IMF

Ghana on course to establish MoU with its bilateral creditors on debt restructuring programme – IMF

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission Chief for Ghana, Stéphane Roudet has  expressed confidence in Ghana’s upcoming formalisation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with bilateral creditors regarding the country’s debt restructuring program.

He noted significant progress in drafting an agreement with official creditors.

“We are confident that formalisation will occur in the next few weeks, building upon January’s developments, allowing us to present it to the board in June. We are increasingly optimistic about Ghana’s program at the IMF board,” he assured during discussions with journalists at the Annual IMF/World Bank spring meetings in Washington DC, USA.

Emphasising the June timeline, Roudet highlighted the dedicated efforts of the team to meet deadlines.

“The report preparation and board circulation take time, but we are optimistic about progress by June,” he reiterated.

    Discussions with commercial creditors

On concerns about the current negotiations with commercial creditors delaying, Mr. Roudet noted that even though it is not a major requirement, it is however important to make progress on the debt relief which must be consistent with the IMF programme.

“We also need good faith in place when it comes to the negotiations with the commercial creditors, and we are already seeing that. From that standpoint there is good faith when it comes to negotiations with the creditors”, he announced.

Fiscal discipline in an election year

On containing election spending before the elections, Mr. Roudet said the team is convinced by the government’s commitment to be fiscally disciplined.

“If you look at past elections, there have been fiscal slippages and therefore everyone should be concerned”, he added.

He pointed out that the IMF has observed some changes in the government’s fiscal commitment.

On high-interest rates, Mr. Roudet was hopeful the cost of credit would come down if inflation declines in line with the IMF programme.

“We believe that as inflation continues to go down, that could force the Bank of Ghana to also reduce interest rates”.

He added that the government is also reducing the amount of money needed from the domestic market. This he alluded may be contributing to reducing the interest rates.

Media houses have dumped me because I no longer have a hit song – Kofi Jamar

Ghanaian musician Kofi Jamar has recently opened up about his challenges with media outlets in the country.

The renowned “Ekorso” artist revealed a stark contrast in his interactions with media houses, shedding light on the dynamics of fame and media relations.

In a candid interview on Property FM, Jamar disclosed how during his peak, numerous media houses eagerly sought interviews with him.

Despite his hectic schedule, he made time for these engagements, emphasising his desire to nurture positive relationships with the media.

However, the situation has dramatically shifted for Jamar.

“Let me emphasize this, when Ekorso went viral and the song was everywhere and I remember when a lot of radio and TV stations were chasing me for interviews. Every media house from left and right like we had to make time for all of them cos they’re media houses and personalities we respect them a lot,” Kofi Jamar stated.

He expressed frustration at the difficulty of securing interviews with the same media houses that once clamoured for his attention.

“And we wanted to establish a long-term relationship with them and here is the case where I don’t have a hit song like Ekorso at the moment. I’m trying to go to those same radio stations and media houses for an interview now and it becomes hard for me, I think that’s where the problem comes from.”

This change, he believes, stems from his current absence from the hit song charts.

Reflecting on his experience, Jamar highlighted the industry’s harsh realities.

He recounted being warned by industry insiders about the fickleness of fame and the potential for exploitation, cautioning new artists about the challenges they might face.

“This industry is known for the fact that when you’re coming as a new artiste we have experienced gatekeepers who warn you to be careful of the industry cos if you don’t take care they’ll use you and dump you”.

Jamar’s revelations offer a glimpse into the intricate dynamics between artists and media in the music industry, showcasing the volatile nature of fame and the importance of maintaining lasting connections.

“There is no future for Ghanaian music ; we’re copying more than being creatives” – Ambolley

Veteran Ghanaian musician, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, has expressed deep concern about the music industry’s current trend of imitation rather than innovation.

In his recent statement, he emphasised that replicating others in the industry is detrimental to its future growth.

Ambolley pointed out that many contemporary artists are not pushing themselves to introduce fresh and creative ideas.

He contrasted this with Nigerian musicians like Burna Boy, highlighting how they incorporate their cultural identity into their music, making them easily distinguishable on the global stage.

The musician criticised Ghanaian artists who claim titles like ‘Dancehall Kings’ or adopt foreign styles like singing in patois, arguing that such actions divert them from their authentic artistic identities.

He remarked, “There is no future [for Ghanaian music] because we are copying more than being creatives. The young musicians want to go into Dancehall music, singing in patois and others but it originates from Jamaica. Have you heard Burna Boy singing in patois before? No, the way he sings his songs can be recognized as Nigerian, so there is an identity. Someone created the Dancehall genre, and you are claiming you are the ‘Dancehall King of Africa;’ what about the one who came up with the idea?”

Ambolley’s legacy in Ghana’s music scene is significant, with hits like ‘Abrentsie,’ ‘Adwoa,’ and ‘The Simigwa’ solidifying his status as a respected figure in the industry.

The passing of gospel icon Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, popularly known as KODA, has stirred a wave of shock and sorrow within the Ghanaian gospel music community.

As fans grapple with the loss, a surprising development has emerged on social media, leaving many pondering the mysteries of fate.

Amidst the mourning, a viral video has surfaced featuring Reverend Richard Boateng from E-Glory Ministries Chapel.

In this footage from February, Rev. Boateng prophetically foretold KODA’s demise, attributing it to a spiritual attack with an arrow aimed at the musician’s heart.

He painted a sombre picture of Takoradi engulfed in mourning, urging prayers to alter this grim destiny.

“Takoradi is about to be hit with a very sad news. I have seen the plot to pull down one of the stars that have emerged from this city. Let’s pray for this person. We need to pray for this young man. He is a musician called KODA or something like that.

“I have seen a gathering here in Takoradi, I see a lot of people trooping into Takoradi not to celebrate but to mourn him. Let’s pray and shift this dark cloud away from him.

“The angel of God revealed to me that someone has shot an arrow at him and it is forming on his heart. This is creating problems for him. If care is not taken one of the most important organs of his body will be distorted.

“There won’t be good news. I saw sadness written on people’s faces. I saw disappointment,” the pastor earlier declared.

Following the revelation, Rev. Boateng and his congregation fervently prayed for divine intervention to thwart the prophesied tragedy.

This video has sparked intense discussions, prompting reflection on the intersections of prophecy, belief, and the mysteries surrounding life and death.

It appears that KODA was not someone who shied away from publicly discussing his health as he previously spoke extensively about suffering from a condition known as G6PD deficiency.

In a video shared by GHPage, he spoke about how he had been given the wrong medication at an unnamed Takoradi-based hospital during one episode that he suffered, stressing how that particular incident affected his health.

“I started developing some funny, funny symptoms here and there over time and I noticed something was not right. So, I remember one day being bold enough to google the medication I was given and I noticed that one major element that I was asked to take was a Sulphur-based medication and immediately I told myself that I had a medical condition called G6PD.

If Otumfuo can fund the Jubilee Hall project alone then gov’t has failed its citizens – Arnold

Prominent entertainment commentator, Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has expressed admiration for Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II‘s initiative in constructing the state-of-the-art Jubilee Hall in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

Asamoah-Baidoo commended the monarch for independently financing such a grand project, highlighting a stark contrast to the state’s shortcomings in providing essential infrastructure for its citizens.

He questioned the government’s failure to undertake similar ventures that would both showcase the nation’s cultural heritage and boost economic growth.

During an interview on the United Showbiz program aired on UTV and monitored by GhanaWeb, Asamoah-Baidoo emphasised, “If an individual can solely fund such a magnificent building project [Jubilee Hall] that everyone is impressed with, while the state has been struggling to put up something similar in the last 8 years, then there is a big problem. If we have moved from large theatres to renovating the centre for national culture to amphitheatres without making a meaningful impact, then we have something to address.

“If one person can put up a structure that the nation has been unable to do in the last 20 years, then it is problematic,” Arnold told MzGee during the United Showbiz programme aired on UTV and monitored by GhanaWeb.

He continued by praising the Asantehene’s foresight, noting that the cultural exhibits and artefacts housed within the Jubilee Hall hold significant economic potential for the community.

In conclusion, Asamoah-Baidoo urged recognition for Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s contributions, underlining the importance of such initiatives in promoting national heritage and prosperity.

About the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Monday, April 15, 2024, commissioned a majestic hall for the Ashanti Kingdom named after him – the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall.

According to manhyiapalace.org, the magnificent traditional yet ultramodern edifice has a 400-capacity cocktail lounge, offices, a 2000-capacity fully air-conditioned and acoustically designed hall, about 60 washrooms, a parking lot, and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Jubilee Hall also has a 150-capacity car park and a compound. The interior of the hall has elaborate detailing of traditional designs.

For instance, the walls show a three-dimensional replica of the Golden Stool, a man playing the talking drum, and several Adinkra symbols.

Speaking at the hall’s commissioning, Juabenhene, Nana Otu Siriboe II, said it would host private Asanteman meetings, get-togethers, symposiums, cultural performances, and other events.

He also disclosed that the hall was named after the Asantehene to immortalize the king’s legacy for future generations.

On the project’s funding, the Juabenhene said that the Asantehene, even though he could have relied on his sub-chiefs to fund the project, decided to fully fund it himself.

He explained that he personally engaged with Akwasi Boateng at the event, but when it was time for the presentation, Akwasi Boateng was nowhere to be found despite efforts to locate him.

The gospel artist emphasised that there was no ill will involved and reiterated his willingness to fulfil the promise, mentioning that the support package remains available once contact with Akwasi Boateng can be established.

Speaking on the United Showbiz programme, MOGmusic explained why Akwasi Boateng’s financial support promise was not fulfilled.

“When the programme started, I walked to him [Akwasi Boateng] and we talked… After a while, I looked at his sitting position and he wasn’t there. I asked my team to look for him but he was nowhere to be found. Later on, the people who were supposed to be honoured were called on stage and given their plaques. So, it’s not true that he was not acknowledged.

“I had no malice against him. He did not get the support because he was absent during the presentation… I asked my manager to contact him later on but I was told he [ Akwasi Boateng] was not reachable. We have plans to present the package to him, it’s still available,” he said.

    Background

Edward Akwasi Boateng complained that his colleague, MOGmusic, failed to fulfil a promise he made to him some time ago.

According to him, MOGmusic pledged to support him financially when he made his plight known to the public.

He stated that the promise was supposed to be fulfilled at a programme that was held in Kumasi. However, MOGmusic did not even acknowledge him at the said event.

Speaking in an interview with Zionfelix monitored by GhanaWeb, Edward noted that he has not heard from MOGmusic again.

“I was placed on the flyer for the show, indicating that he would support me during the programme, but he never did. I went to greet him after the show, but he [MOGmusic] didn’t say anything,” he said.

However, MOGmusic has denied the claims.

NPP level of buffoonery is incredible- X user fires Afenyo-Markin’s over tax policy remarks

An X user who goes by the name Abdul Hameed has criticized remarks made by the New Patriotic Party‘s (NPP) majority leader, Afenyo Markin regarding the government’s tax policies and handling of power outages.

During a recent media address, Afenyo Markin stated that the NPP government inherited a tax-heavy system from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He claimed that despite challenges, the NPP improved the situation significantly.

In response, Abdul Hameed took to Twitter to express disagreement.

He argued that Afenyo Markin’s statements should not be taken seriously and pointed out the ongoing power outages in Ghana, attributing them to the NPP’s alleged failure to address the issue effectively.

“The level of buffoonery the NPP serves us is incredible. You just moved Ameri (a Mahama investment) to Kumasi to improve power situation. You met, ESLA and squandered, now leaving us billions of Cedi debt in energy sector. And he has the balls to even talk. Ghana paa!,” Abdul Hameed stated.

  • BOG Governor calls for enhancement of G20 Common Framework to fast-track debt relief

BOG Governor calls for enhancement of G20 Common Framework to fast-track debt relief

Bank of Ghana Governor (BOG), Dr. Ernest Addison, has strongly advocated for enhancements to the G20 Common Framework.

Speaking at the 2024 Africa Consultative Group meeting in Washington DC, he emphasised the need for accelerated discussions on debt negotiations and cancellation for the least developed countries (LDCs).

Dr. Addison stressed that improving the G20 Common Framework would promote rapid, transparent, and fair resolution of debt issues, especially benefiting the most vulnerable members.

The Bank of Ghana Governor maintained that this will “promote rapid, transparent, and equitable resolution of debt as well as facilitate debt cancellation for the most vulnerable members.”

He also highlighted the importance of leveraging the Global Sovereign Debt Roundtable to support these efforts.

“ this must ensure that the changes are impactful and achieve their intended purpose to better align their support to low-income countries.

“We stress the need for coordination of the IMF’s LIC Facilities Review with the World Bank’s IDA21 replenishment efforts to support LICs in a holistic manner” the Governor added

Under the theme “Bolstering Africa’s financing through the Overlapping crises and beyond,” Dr. Addison emphasised the significance of reviewing the IMF’s internal debt policies to ensure their impact and effectiveness.

Ghana, a beneficiary of the G20 Common Framework, has also participated in the Debt Suspension Initiative, providing relief on debt owed to bilateral creditors.

However, with the initiative set to end this year, negotiations with external creditors are crucial for meeting debt obligations.

In addition to debt relief mechanisms, Dr. Addison called for meaningful collaboration between the World Bank and the IMF to align their support for low-income countries (LICs).

“Considering the expiry of the Food Shock Window amidst a food crisis triggered by the El Nino phenomenon, the Fund’s emergency financing alongside augmentations in programme countries would be important to close climate-induced financing gaps” he added.

This coordination, he argued, would better assist LICs in facing multiple shocks and climate-induced financing gaps.
The Bank of Ghana Governor urged intensified fundraising efforts under the second phase of resource mobilisation initiatives to support vulnerable members like Ghana amidst ongoing global challenges.

“In this regard, we call for intensified fundraising efforts under the second phase of the resource mobilization initiatives.”
