  • Gov’t should include utility bills for each patient on NHIS – GMA President

President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Frank Serebour has advocated  for a boost in the per-patient allocation under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to cover escalating hospital utility bills.

The current practice, where health facility directors settle water and electricity expenses from NHIS claims and internally generated funds, is deemed unsustainable by Dr. Serebour.

“Initially, government was paying our utility bills. Once the government has decided not to pay, realistic tariffs that factors in the cost of electricity and water should be paid,” Dr. Frank Serebour stated in an interview on Abusua FM.

His call comes at a time the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is pursuing some 91 hospitals for owing them about Ghc261 million in debt.

“The current situation is challenging, with entities like the Electricity Company of Ghana requiring their payments while hospitals are facing unprecedented hard times,” he stressed.

Highlighting the strain faced by hospitals, particularly those in remote areas heavily reliant on NHIS, Dr. Serebour emphasised the need for realistic tariffs that account for utility costs.

“How can I manage the facility with the remaining amount left? It’s not possible,” he noted.

He pointed out that facilities like the Bekwai Government Hospital spend a significant portion of NHIS claims on electricity alone, leaving inadequate funds for overall management.

“These are government-owned facilities, measures should be put in place so that the government can pay these bills on behalf of the people, or tariffs are adjusted in such a way that Insurance money will cover them because we’re all contributing to the payment,” he noted.

Expressing concern over the mounting debts owed by hospitals to entities like the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Dr. Serebour warned of dire consequences for healthcare delivery unless the government addresses utility bill payments for essential public services.

In addition to urging transparent processes for NHIS fund collection and allocation, Dr. Serebour proposed a thorough reassessment of the system to ensure sustainability and fair distribution of resources among stakeholders.

The Deputy Bono Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Adjei, has strongly criticized NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, for making baseless allegations against John Dramani Mahama’s 2024 running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.

In a recent statement, Chairman Wontumi claimed that Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang was secretly married to former President Mahama in 2012 and insinuated an ongoing affair between them, allegedly unknown to Mahama’s wife, Lordina Mahama.

Eric Adjei condemned these claims, labelling Chairman Wontumi as an irresponsible individual whose words should not be taken seriously in the political arena.

He emphasised that Wontumi lacks the qualifications and credibility to make such allegations and urged the public to disregard his statements.

Highlighting Prof Jane Naana’s significant contributions to society as a prominent female figure and role model, Eric Adjei stressed that her achievements should not be undermined by unsubstantiated political attacks.

Eric Adjei concluded by reaffirming the respect and admiration Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang commands, emphasizing that she should not be subjected to baseless accusations or political smears orchestrated by individuals like Chairman Wontumi.

“I’m saying that if we are to take somebody seriously in this country, not Chairman Wontumi, he is unserious , senseless and lacks manners. Prof. Jane Naana ought not to be messed with, her impact and achievement to society or the country at large is significant. Chairman Wontumi ought not to mess with her,” Eric Adjei stated.

“I was focusing on my professional career. When I heard news about the tournament, I decided with my management to help Ghana to win gold. With God on my side, I have gotten to my destination,” Aryeetey told 3Sports.

Alban Bagbin is wrong for suspending ministerial nominees- Godfred Dame

Attorney-General Godfred Dame has raised doubts over Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin‘s recent move to suspend the approval of ministerial nominees.

This decision comes amidst ongoing deliberations in the Supreme Court regarding a case challenging President Akufo-Addo’s appointments.

In an interview with TV3, Dame expressed scepticism, suggesting that the Speaker might have been misinformed or misled regarding the situation.

“I think that it is either the Speaker was misinformed or misled by those who were mooting the action.

“Every aspect of this bill is politically motivated. Otherwise, there is really no urgency. I remember mooting the contract management bill, a bill that had the potential to save the state millions of cedis in judgement debt, passed by parliament in July 2023. It was only presented to the president for his assent about three weeks ago. Every step in this matter is politically motivated,” Godfred Dame stated.

He emphasised the need to address issues within the legal framework and cautioned against engaging in tit-for-tat actions.

Dame also criticized the perceived political motivations behind certain legislative actions, including the anti-gay bill, highlighting the importance of approaching matters with due legal consideration.

Contrary to Speaker Bagbin’s claim of an interlocutory injunction affecting the vetting process, Dame clarified that no such legal documents had been served to him, disputing the grounds for suspending the nominations’ approval.

However, in a letter addressed to the Speaker of Parliament on Thursday, March 21, Dame disputed Bagbin’s assertion, stating that no injunction had been filed and thus, parliament was not legally restrained from proceeding with the approval process for ministerial nominees.

The controversy surrounding the ministerial nominees’ approval process continues as legal and political perspectives intersect in Ghana’s parliamentary landscape.

‘Okada’ operations remain prohibited – NRSA

The Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), Ing. David Osafo Adonteng, has emphasized that the operations of ‘Okada’ remain illegal, countering recent promises made by John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mahama pledged to legalise commercial motorbike operations, commonly known as ‘okada,’ during an engagement with residents of Worawora in the Biakoye Constituency of the Oti Region on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

“If we come into power, we will legalise okada business. We will train you on how to go about the business, being able to ride the motorbikes alone does not make you a commercial rider. We will register all of you so your operation can be regulated,” Mahama told his supporters.

Speaking at the launch of the 2024 Road Safety Easter Campaign, Ing. Adonteng reiterated the current legal stance, stating that using motorcycles and tricycles for commercial purposes is prohibited by existing laws.

“The law is what we are going with. In Ghana, the regulations prohibit motorcycles or tricycles for commercial purposes. You can only use them for delivery or courier services, as acceptable by law and enforced by the National Road Safety Authority and the Ghana Police Service,” stated Ing. Adonteng.

He further highlighted ongoing efforts to engage motor riders, provide training, and sensitise them to reduce their contribution to road fatalities.

However, he cautioned against promises of regularisation until legal provisions are altered.

“We have recently been engaging some motor riders and some of them have formed some associations and I don’t think it is called Okada Riders Association. We have found a strategy of engaging them, training them, sensitizing them, and we have seen some significant reductions in terms of their contribution to the fatalities stock.”

“If someone says he will regularize their activities or I will accept, let us get there but for now, we are enforcing what has been provided by the Road Traffic Regulations LI 2180,” Ing Adonteng added.

NFA should help in promoting Ghanaian movies on Amazon, Netflix platforms- Martha Ankomah appeals

Renowned actress Martha Ankomah recently brought attention to the hurdles faced by Ghanaian filmmakers in getting their content onto major streaming platforms like Amazon and Netflix.

Speaking at the inaugural Film Investment Breakfast Meeting organized by the National Film Authority (NFA), Ankomah emphasized the pressing need for support and collaboration within Ghana’s film industry to improve its accessibility and reach.

“When you go on Amazon and Netflix, there are Nigerian movies…But for us in Ghana, it’s difficult to get our movies there. I don’t know how they do it, but it would be great if the NFA could help us get our films on those platforms,” Martha Ankomah stated.

The event, attended by dignitaries, celebrities, and industry experts, showcased a collective effort to tackle challenges and explore opportunities within Ghana’s vibrant film landscape.

Insights from speakers including Juliet Asante, Danny Damah, Shirley Frimpong Manso, and Ivan Quashigah underscored the significance of strategic partnerships and investment in driving the sector’s growth.

AntiLGBTQ+bill: Speaker Bagbin’s reaction to President’s letter is retaliatory, unprofessional – Sister Derby

Ghanaian musician and activist Deborah Vanessa, popularly known as Sister Derby, has strongly criticized the recent actions taken by Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, labelling them as retaliatory and unprofessional.

The controversy revolves around Speaker Alban Bagbin’s decision to suspend the approval of ministerial nominees until the Supreme Court rules on a related case.

This suspension was announced on March 20, citing an interlocutory injunction filed by MP Dafeamekpor.

However, many have interpreted this move as retaliation from the President’s office.

It is said that the President had requested Parliament to hold off on sending the Anti-LGBT+ Bill for presidential assent, citing two injunction applications against the bill at the Supreme Court.

Expressing her discontent on Instagram on March 22, Sister Derby criticised the Speaker’s behaviour as “disrespectful,” likening it to a childish squabble.

She pointed out that crucial legislative matters beneficial to Ghana are being overshadowed by personal grievances.

“When he passed this hate bill that goes against the Constitution of Ghana, did our President disrespect him like this? Current Speaker of Parliament’s behaviour can be described as childish and petty; “you took my toy, so I’m also taking yours.”

“Disregarding a whole list of important issues to be discussed in Parliament, that will actually benefit Ghana,” she posted.

Sister Derby has been vocal about her opposition to the Anti-LGBT+ Bill, describing it along with other activists as barbaric and a violation of human rights.

The bill proposes jail terms ranging from six months to three years for those engaged in LGBT+ acts, with sponsors and promoters facing even harsher penalties.

President Akufo-Addo has put his decision on hold regarding the bill’s enactment, citing its constitutional challenge in the Supreme Court.

However, MPs retain the power to veto the President’s decision with a two-thirds majority, potentially making the bill enforceable regardless of the President’s stance.

  • Here is how to impeach a president in Ghana

Here is how to impeach a president in Ghana

There have been rising tensions sparked by intents by Minority MPs to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over a constitutional matter.

The recent move comes after the Executive Secretary to the President, in a letter dated March 18, 2024, asked the Clerk of Parliament to desist from transmitting the anti-LGBT+ Bill to the Jubilee House for assent by the president.

This has been deemed undemocratic and unacceptable by the Minority, reigniting discussions surrounding the powers vested in parliament to hold the executive accountable.

Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, said on March 21, 2024, that “We stand with the Speaker of Parliament in this. Let the President of Ghana and his government be aware that where this country is going is strange under his watch and the NDC Minority will not countenance it.

“But I want to end that it is obvious that His Excellency the President has breached the constitution and we will advise ourselves. In the coming days, don’t be surprised that we will begin impeachment proceedings against the President.”

AG should know better than make spelling mistakes in letter addressed to Parliament – X user fires

An X user by name Abdul Hameed has criticized the Attorney General, Mr. Godfred Yeboah Dame, over his letter addressed to the Speaker on Thursday, March 21, regarding the suspension of the vetting process for ministerial nominations.

The letter clarified that no legal documents related to court proceedings had been served to the Attorney General.

In the letter, Mr. Dame pointed out that there was no application for interlocutory injunction to restrain the Speaker from proceeding with the vetting and approval of nominees presented by the President.

“The plaintiff has not filed an application for interlocutory injunction seeking to restrain the Speaker from proceeding with the vetting and approval of the names of the persons submitted by His Excellency the President…”, or indeed, any other interlocutory relief.

“Thus, there is nothing before the Supreme Court which may constitute a restraint or fetter on Parliament from proceeding with the approval of ministerial and deputy ministerial nominees presented to Parliament by the President in accordance with articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the Constitution,” Godfred Dame stated.

However, Abdul Hameed took issue with a spelling mistake in the letterhead, noting the use of ‘nominees’ instead of ‘nominess.’

The suspension of the vetting process came after MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor reportedly filed an interlocutory injunction at the Supreme Court.

Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin cited this lawsuit as the reason for halting the vetting process, as it legally hindered Parliament from proceeding with the nominations.

“Hon Members, I also bring to your attention, the receipt of a process from the Courts titled Rockson-Nelson Etse K. Dafeamekpor vrs. The Speaker of Parliament and the Attorney-General ( Suit no. J1/12/2024) which process was served on the 19th of March 2024 and an injunction motion on notice seeking to restrain the Speaker from proceeding with the vetting and approval of the names of the persons submitted by His Excellency the President until the provisions of the constitution are satisfied.”

The Attorney General emphasized that since no injunction had been filed, Parliament should continue with the vetting and approval of Ministers and Deputy Ministers nominated by the President.

He clarified that the lawsuit by Mr. Dafeamekpor was a challenge to the President’s power to reassign Ministers, not related to the approval process outlined in the constitution.

“The substance of Mr Dafeamekpor’s suit is a challenge on the power of the President to relieve Ministers serving in his government of their portfolios and reassign them to different Ministries.

“It has no bearing on the approval of persons newly nominated by the President as Ministers and Deputy Ministers and duly presented to Parliament for approval in accordance with articles 78(1) and 79 (1) of the constitution.”

Davido agrees to settle breach of contract case with Brownhill Event out of court

Nigerian music sensation David Adeleke known widely as Davido and event organizers Brownhill Event have reached an agreement to resolve their breach of contract case without going through court proceedings.

The dispute arose when Brownhill Event, led by former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick, took legal action against Davido for his absence at the annual Warri Again concert despite being paid and signing necessary contracts.

According to a report by Guardian Nigeria, Davido will pay Brownhill Event CEO N30,000,000 (approximately $21,262) as part of the consent judgement, contributing to the claimant’s legal expenses.

As per the settlement terms, Davido will perform at the 2024 Warri Again concert scheduled for October 4 in Warri, Delta State.

The $94,500 previously paid to Davido for the last concert will serve as consideration for his upcoming performance at the event.

Additionally, Brownhill Event will provide a private jet, accommodation, and other logistics for Davido’s performance, as stipulated in the settlement agreement.

    Background

The legal dispute stemmed from Davido’s failure to appear at the Warri Again concerts in 2014 and 2019 despite receiving payments.

This led to Brownhill Event seeking reimbursement and eventually filing a breach of contract and defamation suit against the musician in November 2023.

An investigation revealed that Davido’s company had signed a performance agreement for the 2023 edition but failed to honour it due to scheduling conflicts.

The settlement requires Davido to publicly announce the resolution on his social media platforms, acknowledging the settlement and confirming his participation in the upcoming Warri Again concert.

Overall, the agreement marks a significant step towards resolving the contractual issues between Davido and Brownhill Event, paving the way for a successful collaboration at the upcoming concert.

The headmaster, in an exclusive interview with JOY FM, voiced concerns about the challenges posed by the Free Senior High School (SHS) initiative introduced by the government.

According to the headmaster, the Free SHS program needs urgent review as schools are struggling to adequately cater to their students’ needs.

One of the major issues highlighted was the scarcity of food, which has escalated to the point where schools are forced to skip meals, opting for supper after breakfast due to insufficient resources.

He further continued students in Jirapa Senior High School have been left with the option of feeding on maize for survival.

He attributed the situation to the impact of Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS policy.

“As I speak, apart from maize, I don’t have anything currently as I sit and I am mentioning my school. Last week we received some food stuff, and we got so much maize. We didn’t receive rice until yesterday when I had to fall on my PTA to give me some rice. I just came from Accra Central.”

The video serves as a touching reminder of the challenges faced by educational institutions under the Free SHS program, urging authorities to address these issues promptly for the well-being of students and schools alike.

“If I earn GHC7000 monthly, I’ll relocate to East Legon, chill with girls” – Trader

A recent video circulating on social media has ignited a heated debate following a trader‘s candid revelation about his plans for a monthly salary of GHC7000, raising eyebrows and drawing criticism from various quarters.

In the video, the trader, whose identity remains undisclosed, was asked how he would utilise a monthly income of GHC7000.

Without hesitation, he expressed his intention to relocate to East Legon and spend his time leisurely with women.

The trader justified his decision by citing economic hardships prevalent in the country, suggesting that such substantial earnings necessitated a lifestyle upgrade.

He contrasted his proposed lifestyle with those earning lower salaries, asserting that while some may struggle with meagre incomes like GHC600, he would opt for a more luxurious and enjoyable existence, complete with air conditioning and socialising with women.

“If I earn GHC7000 monthly, I will relocate to East Legon, chill with girls. I will find some air conditioner and sit, relax, and have fun,” the trader boldly stated in the video.

The trader’s remarks have sparked controversy across social media platforms, with many condemning his priorities as inappropriate and unworthy of such a significant income.

Critics argue that his attitude reflects a lack of responsibility and a disregard for more meaningful or productive uses of wealth.
The video has since prompted discussions about financial literacy, personal values, and societal expectations regarding wealth management and ethical spending.

  • I regret going to Dr. UN’s fake awards ceremony – D-Black

I regret going to Dr. UN’s fake awards ceremony – D-Black

Ghanaian rapper D-Black, also known as Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, recently shared his experience of being scammed by the fraudulent Global Blueprint Excellence Award, orchestrated by Kwame Owusu Fordjour, famously known as Dr. UN.

In an episode of his show “Uncut with D-Black,” the artist disclosed that he initially received a professional-looking email inviting him to the awards ceremony where he was declared a winner.

Believing the invitation’s legitimacy due to its association with the United Nations, D-Black almost attended the event with his mother but was deterred by the mismatch between the number of invitations received and his crew size.

“So, you will see the crest, the company name, you will see the United Nation. Do you know the funniest thing? I almost went to that event with my mother because of the United Nation and the achievement but I did not go with my mum because I had seven invitations and my crew was eight people so the driver had to stay in the car and the seven of us went,” D-Black recounted on his show.

Upon arriving at the event venue, D-Black observed rapper Sarkodie already present with his security team, anticipating the fake awards ceremony.

Despite sensing something amiss during Dr. UN’s speech, D-Black remained intrigued when called to accept his award and even posed for pictures.

“When I got there Sarkodie had come with security, management and in suit.

“When the guy [Dr.UN] started talking he was making grammatical errors. He said he went to Harvard but every sentence he says, he will make grammatical errors. I was told the Guest of Honour was Information Minister and President Akufo-Addo and I was very good friends with the personal photographer for President Akufo-Addo but he never told me about that event.

“I did not see the Information Minister but I saw some chiefs and Daughters of Glorious Jesus so I was convinced because they are very respectable people.

“When he started talking, I wanted to leave with my crew. Suddenly, Sarkodie was awarded and was asked to stay and help with the presentation of the awards.

“I was just about to leave the event grounds when I was called for my award and went for the award and took nice pictures.

D-Black believes the crew which worked with Dr. UN to organise the awards were all “fooled” just as he was.

Teacher Union strike: Hope for swift resolution dashed as scheduled talks fail to materialize

The highly anticipated meeting between teacher unions and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), hopes for a quick resolution were dashed as planned discussions failed to take place, extending the deadlock over crucial issues such as the collective bargaining agreement.

Contrary to initial reports suggesting an invitation had been extended to the leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers, and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) by the FWSC, Isaac Baah, GNAT’s Head of Compensation and Benefits, disclosed that the unions were only made aware of the invitation through social media and officially received it on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in the afternoon.

Mr. Baah emphasised that, although they now possess the letter, the unions have yet to formally respond to it.

He also highlighted that negotiating with the FWSC is just one of the five critical issues they are advocating for, emphasising that the industrial action will persist until all grievances are addressed.

A visit by the Adom News team to various schools in Accra revealed that despite the ongoing strike, teaching and learning activities were continuing.

Nevertheless, GNAT has asserted that the strike is gaining momentum, urging strict compliance from its members.

The impasse between teacher unions and the FWSC underscores the profound challenges within the education sector, emphasizing the urgent need for a comprehensive and sustainable resolution to safeguard the welfare of teachers and uphold the quality of education in Ghana.

Fantasy Dome management accused of allegedly tapping illegally to power – ECG

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has levelled accusations against operators of the now-demolished Fantasy Dome, formerly managed by Fantasy Entertainment at the Trade Fair site, for illegally tapping electricity through an unauthorized connection.

During the recent demolition of the Fantasy Dome at the Accra Trade Fair, ECG revealed that it had unearthed an illicit power tap within the facility.

In response, ECG has demanded that Fantasy Dome management submit a detailed report to the Revenue Protection National Taskforce at the ECG project office within 48 hours.

A statement released by the Revenue Protection Division of ECG has urged Fantasy Dome owners to rectify their electricity connection status within the specified timeframe.

Failure to comply could lead to the initiation of criminal proceedings.

Simultaneously, the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited proceeded with the demolition of the Fantasy Dome on Saturday, 16 March 2024, as part of the ongoing Ghana International Trade Fair Center Development Project.

This action follows the assertion by Leslie Quaynor, the CEO of Fantasy Entertainment, who claimed to have served the Trade Fair Company Limited with a court order to halt the demolition a claim vehemently denied by the Trade Fair Company Limited.

  • I’ve not recouped any of my investment from the now-demolished Fantasy Dome – CEO

I’ve not recouped any of my investment from the now-demolished Fantasy Dome – CEO

Founder and CEO of Fantasy Dome, Leslie Quaynor recently disclosed that he has not recovered any of his investments from the now-demolished structure since its establishment in 2018.

In an interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty on Tuesday, 19th March 2024, Quaynor explained that the Fantasy Dome has faced operational challenges primarily due to the impact of COVID-19 and subsequent redevelopment plans.

Quaynor highlighted the difficulties faced by his business, asserting, “Just as I started operations in 2019, COVID-19 emerged the following year. This resulted in a halt to our activities for the next two and a half years. Additionally, redevelopment plans in 2021 and 2022 disrupted our operations further, making it impossible to conduct business effectively.”

He expressed frustration over the terms of his lease with the Trade Fair Company, which obligated them to provide a six-month notice and relocate his property within the Trade Fair premises.

However, despite these agreements, Quaynor explained that efforts to negotiate with Dr. Agnes Adu, the CEO of Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, to retain the same space for a year were unsuccessful.

Quaynor emphasised the financial strain of relocating the Fantasy Dome, citing the need to excavate and prepare new land, which amounted to millions of dollars.

He appealed for understanding, asserting, “It doesn’t make sense for me to invest millions in a temporary space when there’s only a year left on my lease.”

The inability to reach a compromise with the Trade Fair Company has left Quaynor unable to recoup his investments and has hindered the Fantasy Dome’s ability to operate effectively.

Ariana Grande to settle ex-husband $1.25m in divorce – Los Angeles Superior Court passes judgement

Musician, Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez’s nearly three-year marriage has come to an official end, as confirmed by a Los Angeles Superior Court judgement on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old pop sensation and the 28-year-old real estate broker finalised their divorce, with Grande agreeing to a one-time payment of $1.25 million (£980,000) to Gomez as part of their settlement.

Grande filed for divorce six months ago, citing irreconcilable differences, marking the conclusion of a relationship that began in January 2020, just before the Covid-19 pandemic.

The couple tied the knot in a “tiny and intimate” ceremony at Grande’s Montecito, California home in May 2021.

In addition to the monetary settlement, Gomez will receive half of the proceeds from the sale of their Los Angeles property. Grande has also agreed to cover up to $25,000 in his legal fees, with no provision for future alimony.

The separation, which occurred over a year ago, was facilitated by a prenuptial agreement, and the absence of children or legal disputes allowed for a swift finalisation of the divorce proceedings.

Gomez, hailing from southern California, has a decade-long career in luxury real estate, as noted on his AKG profile. The couple’s public debut was in February 2020, followed by a cameo in Grande and Justin Bieber’s Stuck With U music video in May of the same year.

Grande, a two-time Grammy Award winner, recently released her seventh studio album titled Eternal Sunshine on 8 March. She is also set to star as Glinda, the good witch, in the film adaptation of the musical Wicked alongside Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum, scheduled for release in November.

The divorce marks a new chapter for both Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez, following a significant period of their lives spent together.

Nigerian actor arrested over bribery charges

A renowned actress in Nigeria‘s vibrant film industry, Kannywood, has recently made headlines after being arrested for allegedly attempting to bribe a police officer in Kano state.

The incident involved a sum of 250,000 naira (£137; $175), which Umar purportedly offered to have her impounded car released.

According to the police, Umar’s vehicle was seized over a year ago under suspicion of being purchased with proceeds from fraud allegedly committed by her boyfriend, Ramadan Inuwa, who is currently wanted on charges related to obtaining money by false pretenses.

Umar’s lawyer, Adama Usman, vehemently denies the charges, stating that it was the police officer who initially solicited money.

Usman claims that Umar was coerced into the situation and asserts that they will vigorously defend her innocence in court.

“We won the initial case in court where they were trying to link her with her boyfriend’s activities which she has no hands in,” stated Mrs. Usman. “But the police are yet to obey court orders four months in by still holding on to her car.”

The police, represented by spokesman Bashir Muhammad, allege that Umar promised more money after giving the initial sum to the officer.

Despite being released on bail, the actress faces a legal battle ahead as the case unfolds.

Umar, known for her extensive work in the film industry and massive social media following, remains a prominent figure in Nigerian entertainment.
