Videos, more details surface concerning alleged Assin Central NDC candidates affair with party secretary’s wife

Details have surfaced regarding the scandalous affair involving Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Assin Central, and the wife of the party’s Constituency Secretary.

This revelation has ignited widespread outrage within the party.

Initial reports indicated that Migyimah’s illicit relationship with the Secretary’s wife led to her pregnancy and subsequent relocation, which severely tarnished his reputation and resulted in his suspension from the party.

It was alleged that Migyimah, after impregnating the Secretary’s wife, moved her to Kasoa and arranged accommodation for her there.

These allegations, substantiated by evidence, have plunged the NDC Central Regional Secretariat into turmoil as it grapples with the fallout from the incident.

Further investigation has revealed even more shocking details, including secret meetings between Migyimah and the Secretary’s wife at their matrimonial home in his absence, where they engaged in inappropriate activities.

The NDC’s Central Regional Organizer, Michael M. Derry, revealed in an interview that suspicions of infidelity led the Secretary to install cameras in his home. These cameras captured numerous intimate encounters between Nurein Shaibu Migyimah and the Secretary’s wife.

Previously suspended for six months, pending a formal hearing by the Regional Disciplinary Committee, Migyimah faced charges of “immoral acts and anti-party conduct.”

This suspension has now resulted in his imminent removal as the 2024 Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate by the NDC Central Regional Functional Executive Committee.

In a recent turn of events, the party has intensified sanctions against Migyimah. Mr. Gabriel Nii Kommey Adams, Regional Secretary of the NDC, confirmed that after consultations with national party leadership and key stakeholders, the decision was made to revoke Migyimah’s candidacy.

Meanwhile, Nurein Shaibu Migyimah, the candidate for Assin Central Constituency, described recent events as a ‘nightmare,’ but remains confident in his eventual vindication.

In a previous interview he stated, “I have not received any formal communication yet, but I am taking steps within the party’s framework to ensure a fair hearing regarding the ongoing situation.

This is a political party, and we operate under our party’s constitution. I am young and determined to navigate through this.

“I believe, and I know whatever allegation, anything they’ve said or whatever it is, after I go through the right party structures, I’ll be vindicated. God being so good, God willing, ‘Inshallah’, on December 7, I’m going to win the election,” he added.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_-E7A1oh6o

Let’s accept NAPO just as NDC has accepted Prof Naana – Majority Leader to NPP MPs

Jane got only 35% approval from NDC’s Council, yet no member criticized her – Majority Leader

Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has called for calm within the Majority caucus following the announcement that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has chosen Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate.

He encouraged his colleagues to take a cue from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which accepted the presidential candidate’s choice of running mate despite significant internal opposition.

He revealed that over 60 percent of the National Council of the NDC’s votes were against Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as the running mate. Nevertheless, once the decision was approved and announced, no one publicly criticized it.

His remarks came in response to comments made by the MP for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi, who expressed that Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, was not his preferred candidate.

Mr Appiah-Kubi, who is also a member of the NPP’s National Council, doubted NAPO’s ability to secure votes or be compliant with the presidency should the party win the elections.

The Majority Leader, however, urged MPs to respect the party’s decision and support the chosen individual, regardless of personal opposition. He acknowledged that the official communication of the chosen running mate had not yet been made but emphasized the importance of rallying behind the party’s selection to partner with Dr. Bawumia in the general elections.

“We haven’t received any official word from the party yet. Consultations are indeed ongoing, and we’ve heard various names.

“All the individuals mentioned are respected party members who have contributed significantly to our party. It would be inappropriate for anyone to single out an individual for criticism,” he stated.

“In politics, if destiny chooses you, your age, religion, or humility doesn’t matter. If God has chosen you, so be it.

“We need to maintain party unity, so let’s all wait and ensure that unity prevails. We know that when Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was selected, she received only 35% approval from the party’s national council, yet no one from the NDC publicly objected,” he added.

“We’re all in this together; no one is perfect. The flagbearer has the party’s confidence, and I trust he will utilize the party’s structures in making his decisions,” he affirmed.

C/R: NDC leaders summoned by national executives over Assin Central PC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has summoned the Central Regional Chairman and Secretary regarding the suspension of Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate, Nurein Shiabu Migyimah.

The regional executives, in a letter addressed to Mr. Migyimah, stated that the Functional Executive Committee’s decision to suspend the parliamentary candidate was based on allegations of immoral acts and anti-party conduct.

However, the national executives questioned the regional executives’ authority to make such a decision without their consent.

“The above-mentioned action, if true, was taken without the approval of the National Executive Committee and is considered inappropriate and in contravention of due process and the provisions of Articles 40, 41, 46, and 48 of the NDC constitution.”

“In light of that, you are hereby requested to appear before the National Leadership of the party on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2 pm, together with your Regional Secretary, to explain how this letter was sent out without the approval of the party’s national leadership,” the General Secretary of the party, Fifi Kwetey, stated.

I’m yet to receive a letter confirming my suspension – NDC Assin Central PC

The suspended Assin Central Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nurein Shaibu Mygyimah, has stated that he has not received any formal notification of his suspension.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Friday, Mr. Mygyimah indicated that he became aware of his suspension through a letter circulating on social media and a WhatsApp message from the Regional Secretary.

He clarified that he maintains a cordial relationship with party executives and remains unaware of the specific allegations against him.

Despite this, Mr. Mygyimah expressed willingness to adhere to due party processes and expressed confidence in being exonerated.

The NDC’s Central Regional Secretariat withdrew Mr. Mygyimah as its parliamentary candidate less than six months before the December 7 election, citing allegations of immoral acts and anti-party activities in their statement.

However, Mr. Mygyimah denied these accusations, with his lawyer suggesting that the suspension was driven by personal grievances involving the Regional Chairman, Professor Kofi Asiedu, and the Regional Secretary.

In response, the aggrieved party issued a three-day ultimatum demanding the reversal of the decision to allow Mr. Mygyimah to resume his campaign for the NDC’s seat.

They threatened legal action if the ultimatum passed without resolution.

Furthermore, the NDC National Secretariat, surprised by the Regional Secretariat’s actions, summoned Prof. Asiedu and the Secretary to appear before the Functional Executive Council (FEC) on Tuesday, July 2.

The party leadership seeks clarification on the issuance of the suspension letter without approval from the national leadership.

I will ensure justice for Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election victims – Mahama

The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring justice for the victims of the violence that occurred during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

This renewal of commitment follows ongoing concerns regarding the government’s lack of action in implementing recommendations from the Commission of Inquiry’s white paper since 2019. The violence erupted after the passing of MP Emmanuel Kwabena Kyeremateng Agyarko on November 21, 2018, during the by-election.

While visiting one of the affected individuals in Fadama, Accra, John Mahama pledged that a future NDC administration would take steps to alleviate the plight of the victims and criticized the current government for its failure to hold the perpetrators accountable.

“We know that after Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, a commission of inquiry was set up and the commission made some investigations and recommendations. It identified those who were responsible for what happened at Ayawaso West Wuogon and asked that they be sanctioned.

“Unfortunately, this government has refused to take any action against those who were responsible for the harm that has been caused to our brother.

“And I have assured him that when we come to power, justice will be done and whoever was involved in that unfortunate incident will be brought to book and made to face justice for what they have done to him.

“Aside from that, it also recommended that they be paid compensation for the injuries that have been caused them. As far as I know that compensation has not been paid yet.

“So, I wish to assure him that NDC is going to win the elections and when we win, the appropriate compensation that is due him will be paid, so that he can invest the money into something and make a living. We will make sure he’s paid that compensation.”

Don’t sleep before and after Dec. 7, even their members are suspicious – Bridget Otoo to NDC

Media personality, Bridget Otoo, has advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be weary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the country prepares to head to the polls.

She offered her counsel after reports that a group of young supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stood watch at the Walewale Police Station on Wednesday to protect ballot boxes holding votes from the constituency’s primary on January 27, 2024.

During the primary, the incumbent Member of Parliament for Walewale, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, was defeated by 35-year-old Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru. Dr. Kabiru secured 345 votes compared to Hajia Zuweira’s 338 votes.

Following her defeat, Hajia Zuweira contested the announced results at the High Court in Tamale.

The vigilant youth claimed that the NPP’s North East Regional Chairman and Hajia Zuweira were plotting to relocate the ballot boxes from the police station without proper authorization.

Reacting to this, Bridget Otoo noted that there is no trust within the ruling government, and the NDC must not rest on its oars to ensure the 2024 election is credible and fair, without any form of manipulation of results.

“Their own party. Dear NDC you cannot sleep before and after December 7.”

On Monday, June 24, the High Court in Tamale issued an injunction against Dr. Mahama Tia Kabiru, prohibiting him from presenting himself as the duly elected NPP parliamentary candidate for Walewale.

I’ll be vindicated; I’m going to win the election – Suspended NDC Assin Central PC

Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, the suspended Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Assin Central constituency in the Central Region, is challenging claims of immoral acts and anti-party conduct that led to the withdrawal of his candidature and a six-month suspension.

The Central Regional Secretariat of the NDC recently announced the withdrawal of Migyimah’s candidature for the 2024 general elections on moral grounds.

Following complaints filed against him, the NDC’s Central Regional Functional Executive Committee conducted thorough investigations and deliberations, leading to the decision to withdraw his candidature immediately.

The committee has also communicated to the Assin Central Chairman of the NDC, informing him of Migyimah’s suspension for six months, pending further review and adjudication by the Regional Disciplinary Committee.

In an interview with Joy News’ Blessed Sogah, Migyimah expressed his confidence in being vindicated after undergoing the party’s review process.

“I believe, and I know whatever allegation, anything they’ve said or whatever it is, after I go through the right party structures, I’ll be vindicated. God being so good, God willing, ‘Inshallah’, on December 7, I’m going to win the election,” he stated.

Migyimah urged his supporters to remain calm as he works to resolve the matter through the proper channels within the NDC.

Although the Central Regional NDC claims to have served a formal notice of suspension, Migyimah insists he has yet to receive any official documentation detailing the allegations against him.

He maintains that he did not engage in the “immoral acts and anti-party conduct” alleged by the party’s Central Regional Wing.

The specifics of the alleged offences were not disclosed by the party, only mentioning that the decision was based on “immoral acts and anti-party conduct.”

Currently, the Assin Central seat is held by the New Patriotic Party’s Kennedy Agyapong. In the previous election, Migyimah secured 14,747 votes, representing 42.74% of the total, against Agyapong’s 19,754 votes, representing 57.26%.

The impact of this suspension on the political dynamics of the Assin Central constituency in the upcoming December elections remains to be seen.

Shamefully justify why cement prices have increased by GHC87 under Akufo-Addo – Bridget Otoo fires at “NPP fool soldiers”

Ghanaian journalist, Bridget Otoo, has criticized the Akufo-Addo-led government over the significant rise in cement prices.

In a recent post on X, Mr Otoo highlighted the stark contrast in price increases between the administrations of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to Bridget Otoo, from 2009 to 2016, under the NDC government, cement prices rose by 7 cedis.

However, she stated that from 2017 to 2024, under the NPP administration, prices have surged by an alarming 87 cedis.

“I hope NPP fool soldiers will justify why the increment from 2009-2016 is worse than from 2017 to 2024… as they are doing shamelessly without success with the dollar to cedi rate,” Otoo stated.

Critics argue that the government’s policies have not adequately addressed these issues, resulting in higher costs for essential goods and services.

Meanwhile, the Akufo-Addo-led government has indicated that global economic conditions and supply chain disruptions have played significant roles in the price hikes.

The government has maintained that the government is working diligently to stabilize the economy and address these external pressures.

Suspended NDC Assin Central PC impregnated party’s constituency secretary’s wife – Reports

Recent reports have revealed the purported reason behind the six-month suspension of Nurein Shiabu Migyimah, the Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the Assin Central constituency in the Central Region.

Earlier reports could not point to the exact cause of the suspension, but a report by Ghananweb indicates that Migyimah has been suspended for impregnating the wife of Sadique Broni Yeboah, a married party member.

“The Regional FEC received credible reports of immoral acts and anti-party conduct against the party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the Assin Central Constituency, Nurien Shiabu Migyimah. It was revealed that he has impregnated the legally married wife of Comrade Sadique Broni Yeboah, resulting in her moving to a rented apartment in Kasoa, paid for by Nurien Shiabu Migyimah,” Ghanaweb quotes a part of a statement in its purview.

The Central Regional Secretariat of the NDC made the announcement of the suspension after receiving complaints against Migyimah. Following thorough investigations and discussions, the Regional Functional Executive Committee decided to withdraw his candidature.

They have communicated this decision to the Assin Central Chairman of the NDC, explaining that Migyimah’s suspension will remain in effect until the matter is reviewed and adjudicated by the Regional Disciplinary Committee.

“This immoral act by Nurien Shiabu Migyimah has had a traumatic psychological effect on the Assin Central Constituency Secretary, Comrade Sadique Broni Yeboah, affecting his performance as the Scribe of the Constituency,” the statement continued.

“After critically examining the revelations and facts that emerged from its investigation, the Regional FEC resolved that, in the best interest of the party, Nurien Shiabu Migyimah must be withdrawn as the 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the Assin Central Constituency to safeguard the party’s image from further damage,” the statement concluded.

“It is in this light that we respectfully recommend the withdrawal of Nurien Shiabu Migyimah as the NDC’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the Assin Central Constituency,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Joy News’ Blessed Sogah, Migyimah has expressed confidence in his eventual vindication.

“I believe, and I know whatever allegation, anything they’ve said or whatever it is, after I go through the right party structures, I’ll be vindicated. God being so good, God willing, ‘Inshallah’, on December 7, I’m going to win the election,” he stated.

Don’t throw your hands up in despair; Ghana shall not die – Koku Anyidoho to Ghanaians

A former member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has urged Ghanaians not to give up in the fight in making Ghana a better and comfortable place for all.

Mr Anyidoho has been vocal about issues impacting Ghanaian society, advocating for unity and progress.

In a post on the X platform he  highlighted the importance of maintaining hope and resilience in the face of adversity.

“If we are actually moving into such realms of living illuminating possibilities, then there is no reason to throw our hands up in despair. Ghana shall not die,” he wrote.

The NDC’s former Deputy General’s encouragement comes after a viral video showed a Ghanaian man lauding the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s digitization efforts.

According to the man, his Ghana card served as passport while traveling back to Ghana from Cameroon.

“The Ghana card is actually a passport, the doubting Thomas must understand, I am currently at the Douala Airport travelling back to Ghana and I used my Ghana card. The card is actually a passport. Kudos to the NPP government and Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. May God richly bless Ghana,” he added.

In 2021, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced that the Ghana card  will be acknowledged as an electronic passport across 197 countries by 2022.

Speaking during a public lecture on the digital economy at Ashesi University on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the Vice President highlighted that this development aims to enhance the convenience of travel for Ghanaians living abroad.

“The Ghana card will be recognized as an e-passport and can be read and verified in all [International Civil Aviation Organization] ICAO compliant borders (in 197 countries and 44,000 airports in the world). When this happens, holders of the Ghana card will be allowed to board any flight to Ghana.”

“Furthermore, the good news for diasporan Ghanaians is that when the Ghana Immigration Service is linked to the NIA architecture, diasporan Ghanaians who hold the Ghana card should not have to obtain visas to travel to Ghana.”

Highlighting additional advantages of the Ghana card, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia noted that Ghanaian missions and foreign embassies will utilize the card to verify the identities of Ghanaians abroad.

Dr. Bawumia further revealed that the government has collaborated with the International Civil Aviation Organization to enable the global activation of the Ghana card’s e-passport functionality.

“We expect this to be operational by the end of the first quarter of next year. Ghana is one of the few countries in the world where the national ID card is also an e-passport,” he said.

Hawa Koomson will be prosecuted for all her offenses if we assume power – NDC

The National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has issued a warning to the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson.

Addo stated that if the NDC comes into power after the 2024 elections, Koomson will be arrested and prosecuted for alleged criminal activities that occurred during her time in office.

In response to the recent arrest of Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, a parliamentary candidate in the Awutu Senya East constituency, Addo criticized what he viewed as unjustifiable detention driven by political motives during an interview on Onua TV on June 26, 2024.

He condemned the police’s handling of Okunor’s case, claiming that there was interference from higher authorities.

“The detention of Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor was irresponsible and lacked legal basis.

Turning his criticism towards Minister Hawa Koomson, he brought up an incident from the 2020 elections where Koomson displayed a firearm at a polling station.

“Hawa Koomson stood at the polling station and fired a gun; power is temporary. After December 7th, we will prosecute Hawa Koomson. She will be held accountable for all her offenses,” he declared.

Meanwhile, Mavis Hawa Koomson reiterated that the gun she used in the well-known shooting incident at Kasoa during the voter registration exercise was licensed.

She explained that while her actions that day were regrettable, she fired the warning shot in self-defense after feeling threatened while visiting registration centers in Kasoa.

The Central Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the withdrawal of Nurein Shiabu Migyimah as the party’s Assin Central Parliamentary Candidate.

This decision comes amidst complaints and allegations against Migyimah, prompting the NDC’s Central Regional Functional Executive Committee to take swift action.

Following exhaustive investigations and deliberations, the Regional Functional Executive Committee opted to withdraw Migyimah’s candidature on moral grounds.

A formal communication has been sent to the Assin Central Chairman of the NDC, notifying him of Migyimah’s suspension from the party for a period of six months.

This suspension is pending further review and adjudication by the Regional Disciplinary Committee, marking a temporary halt to his political aspirations under the NDC banner.

While specifics of Migyimah’s alleged offenses were not detailed by the party, the NDC cited “immoral acts and anti-party conduct” as the basis for their decision.

The withdrawal of Migyimah as a candidate raises questions about the future dynamics of the Assin Central constituency, which is currently held by the New Patriotic Party’s Kennedy Agyapong.

In the previous election, Migyimah garnered 14,747 votes, representing 42.74% of the total votes cast, against Kennedy Agyapong’s 19,754 votes, which accounted for 57.26%. Having NDC back to IPAC has been favorable – Jean Mensa

Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has hailed the return of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC), describing it as highly beneficial. She noted that the NDC’s re-engagement has brought valuable insights that have contributed to enhancing Ghana’s electoral processes.

The NDC had boycotted IPAC meetings since March 2020 due to concerns over the Electoral Commission’s stance.

Madam Mensa expressed satisfaction with their return, highlighting the NDC’s significant role as the main opposition and a pivotal stakeholder in Ghana’s political landscape.

In an interview with JoyNews on June 26, she remarked, “They are the main opposition and they constitute a formidable force. It is a great benefit to all of us that they have returned to IPAC.”

She further explained that since their return, the NDC has provided constructive feedback that the EC has incorporated into managing recent registration exercises.

“The discussions have been going on very well. They have been very constructive. It has been valuable feedback that has come from the NDC as well as some of the other parties… so for the just-ended registration exercise there was valuable feedback that the NDC brought on board and we have considered quite a number of ideas and the suggestions and we have taken them on board so we continue to engage in a constructive way”.

Previously, on April 21, 2021, the NDC had declined an invitation to an IPAC meeting, citing perceived bias and lack of transparency during the 2020 elections.

Despite subsequent Supreme Court rulings, the NDC maintained reservations about the election’s integrity, although they publicly committed to rejoining IPAC in December 2023.

Since their return in January 2024, the NDC has actively participated in IPAC meetings, marking a renewed phase of collaborative engagement with the Electoral Commission.

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho, has asserted that John Dramani Mahama is more focused on advancing his personal interests and image rather than prioritizing the goals and interests of Ghanaian citizens.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute made this claim in response to a health screening flyer featuring images of Mahama and his son.

Mr. Anyidoho believes that the flyer clearly indicates that the NDC flagbearer’s presidential ambitions are driven by personal interests.

“You see how he is just interested in promoting himself over and above the NDC? Now he is adding his children. This man is not interested in the NDC; he is only using the party as a convenient vehicle to fan his ego & personal agenda. NDC people; wake up ooo!!! Ayoo!!” Mr Anyidoho wrote on X.

NDC’s Inter-Party Affairs, CSOs Directorate engage GTPCWU in policy dialogue

The office of the Inter-Party Affairs and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Directorate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, recently engaged with the General Transport, Petroleum and Chemical Workers’ Union (GTPCWU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in a meeting.

The meeting was held at the Union office of GTPCWU with the aim of addressing various pressing issues affecting workers under the Union’s jurisdiction.

GTPCWU represents employees across multiple sectors, including transport, petroleum, and chemical industries, covering both junior and senior staff, as well as professional and managerial personnel throughout Ghana.

The workers under the Union’s jurisdiction come from a wide range of industries, establishments, companies, and firms involved in transport, including road and air transport, aviation, and automobile engineering.

During the meeting, the Union expressed its appreciation for the Directorate’s visit and acknowledged the importance of such engagements.

The GTPCWU lauded the NDC’s achievements in the transport and energy sectors during their previous tenure in office but voiced concerns about the current state of affairs under the incumbent government.

One of the major grievances highlighted by the Union was the political takeover and mismanagement of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR). The Union stressed that TOR should not be left in the hands of selfish individuals and lamented its deterioration over the past years. They urged that the next NDC government should prioritize fixing these issues.

The poor state of state-owned buses and the managerial challenges at the State Transport Company (STC) were also discussed. The Union criticized the condition of the buses, deeming many unfit for the roads, and highlighted how individuals and party operatives have taken over STC, leading to managerial inefficiencies.

Further concerns were raised regarding the current state of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), the Petroleum Commission, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), and the National Road Safety Authority. The Union emphasized the need for improvements in these critical areas to enhance efficiency and safety.

Dr. Otokunor, in response, expressed gratitude for the Union’s candid input and assured them that their concerns would be incorporated into the NDC’s manifesto. He reiterated former President John Mahama’s commitment to continuous engagement with the Union, even after the elections, to ensure the implementation of the manifesto’s promises.

The meeting concluded with a renewed sense of partnership and a commitment to working together to address the challenges faced by the sectors represented by the GTPCWU, with the overarching goal of improving the working conditions and welfare of the workers.

45-year-old woman fingers NDC leaders in countless rape incidents

A 45-year-old woman is alleging rape being sanctioned by the leadership of the opposition of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The woman made this claim during an interview on the Sompa Nkomo show on Sompa FM.

According to the woman, the alleged rape incidents occurred in 2019, after she left Sunyani in the Bono Region to Kenyase in the Ashanti Region to be accommodated by a friend of hers after falling ill.

While staying with her friend, a young man came to where she lived to rent a place.

“When he came, I was not on good terms with him,” she said in Twi.

However, someway somehow, the man visited her at Sunyani when she left for her own place.

“So I asked him of the reason for his visit. He told me and not long after, he started touching me. He had never made any form of sexual advances to him. We struggled and he got his way and slept with me,” she said on the show.

He was 28-years-old and she was about 40 years old at the time of the alleged incident.

According to the woman, the man continued to visit and forced himself on her after a struggle.

She added that she felt uneasy and decided to ask the man why he forced himself on her.

“He told me it is the leaders. So I asked what leaders. I kept insisting and he told me that it is NDC leaders who sent him,” she said.

Aside from the claims, the woman failed to provide any form of evidence to support her claim against the party or the rape incidents.

It is also unknown if the alleged rape incidents have been reported to the police for investigations to take place.

Ensure perpetrators of alleged assault on CSU student are punished – NPP to police

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is pressing for an investigation into the alleged assault on one of its TESCON members at Christian Service University by unidentified members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The victim, Nana Boakye, a student at Christian Service University, reportedly faced aggression from NDC members during a public lecture by former President John Mahama on the university campus.

According to reports, the altercation began when Boakye remarked, “Mahama will lose,” during Mahama’s speech, which allegedly provoked the attackers.

While acknowledging Boakye’s remarks, the NPP condemned the violence against him and called upon the Inspector General of Police and the Ashanti Regional Police Command to apprehend the assailants.

NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, emphasized during a press briefing in Kumasi that justice must prevail in this case.

“He had done nothing wrong, but the NDC took advantage of him in an auditorium where we have police people, they slapped him and later on beat him mercilessly outside the auditorium.

“Our determined position is that the police will investigate this issue and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book. This morning he went to the police regional office to lodge an official complaint.”

“This should have been done much earlier but he wasn’t well, he was completely devastated. Today he feels much better and has gone to lodge an official complaint of the matter. Now we are urging the police to investigate this expressly without delay to ensure that the perpetrators are punished according to law.”

Ensure your promises are achievable – Hawa Koomson to Mahama

Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has urged National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama to refrain from politicizing the closed fishing season for canoe and artisanal fisherfolk.

Hawa Koomson emphasized that politicizing the policy would not yield significant benefits for the fishing community.

Recently, the former president pledged to exempt artisanal fishermen from the closed season if he wins the upcoming December 7 elections.

Addressing the media following a stakeholder engagement in Accra, Hawa Koomson pointed out the impracticality of excluding artisanal fishermen from the exercise.

“I hear the former president going around to say that when he comes back, he is going to abolish the closed season. I let them [the fishermen] know that it is a law. So I did not even create it. It was the NDC that made the law. And they observed it in 2016.

“I am only continuing what is there because it has become a policy. I want to plead with the former president that he has been in the seat before and he is a former president. When he is before the people and making utterances, he should be very careful because things that you cannot do, you don’t promise them.”

See how the cedi will do from tomorrow forward – Finance Minister boasts about govt’s performance

Finance Minister Dr. Amin Adam has confidently forecasted a rebound of the Ghanaian Cedi against the US dollar after its recent depreciation against other major currencies.

The minister, who is also the MP for Karaga, made this assertion while announcing the successful completion of the government’s debt restructuring program with official creditors.

Dr. Amin Adam highlighted that the restructuring of $5.1 billion in debt with these creditors, alongside the completed restructuring of $13.1 billion with Eurobond holders, will restore economic confidence.

This renewed confidence is expected to attract investors to the local economy, thereby strengthening the cedi.

“Watch the cedi to the dollar after tomorrow… Let’s watch it and see; the confidence will come,” he stated.

“The investors will return to Ghana, and the growth trajectory will even become clearer for all of us,” Dr. Amin Adam added.

Speaking at a town hall meeting in the UK over the weekend, Finance Minister Dr. Amin Adam lauded the economic management by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He expressed confidence in the NPP’s prospects of winning the 2024 general elections against the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“On the economy, our record is better than their record. On the size of the economy, we’ve done better than them. On per capita income, we’ve done better than them.

On job creation, we’ve done better than them. On economic growth, we’ve done better than them,” the minister said.

    Former NDC parliamentary aspirant arrested

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Michael Nii Yarboi, a former parliamentary aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Odododiodoo, after he failed to appear in court.

Nii Yarboi, disqualified from the party’s primaries in 2023, faces criminal charges for allegedly assaulting a resident of James Town and a branch executive of the NDC.

According to citinewsroom.com, the arrest followed a bench warrant issued after Nii Yarboi missed a court appearance on Monday, June 24, 2024. The prosecution informed the court that the accused was intentionally evading the legal proceedings.

Nii Yarboi initially failed to appear before the Dansoman Circuit Court on Thursday, June 20, 2024, prompting an adjournment to June 24, 2024.

When the case was called again, he was absent. The police prosecutor revealed that Nii Yarboi was deliberately ignoring court directives, leading to the request for a bench warrant, which the court granted.

Sources close to the prosecution confirmed that Nii Yarboi was apprehended following the issuance of the bench warrant. The court has adjourned the case to July 8, 2024.

The arrest and ongoing prosecution of Nii Yarboi highlight the legal consequences of evading court proceedings and underscore the importance of adherence to judicial processes.

Video: Afari Military Hospital left to rot in the Ashanti Region; concerned citizen ‘cries’

A concerned citizen has lamented the deplorable state of the Afari Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region.

In a tweet shared by @YayraKoku and seen by TIG.post, a man describes how the 500-bed capacity hospital could serve over six communities once completed adding that, the abandoned hospital is larger than the ‘famous’ Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

“This is Atwima Nwabiagya, where the Afari Government Hospital is located. This hospital, with a 500-bed capacity, is larger than Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, yet it has been neglected and is now overrun with weeds” he fumed.

He stated that the current administration has repeatedly promised to commission the hospital, but these promises have yet to be fulfilled.

“The cars parked here are engulfed by vegetation, and while there are quarters for workers, the entire area is abandoned, guarded only by security personnel

It’s been eight years, and every year brings new promises about its commissioning” he said.

He recounts how the Vice president and flagbearer of the ruling NPP Dr Bawumia promised to commission to the two hospitals in August during his campaign tour to the Ashanti Region expressong his doubts over the potency of such promise being fulfilled.

Considering the current state of the hospital, he asked ” Does this look like a hospital that can be commissioned in August?”

During his visit to the Ashanti region, the Vice President mentioned that both the Afari Military Hospital and the Sewia Hospital would be commissioned by August 2024″ he continued.

He urged the government o halt some of the Agenda 111 project to focus on the completion of the Afari Military Hospital.

“Instead of pursuing the Agenda 111 project in Kumasi, can’t we focus on completing these two hospitals first? They could serve around ten constituencies. It’s frustrating to see such a significant facility left to deteriorate, especially when it has the potential to provide crucial healthcare services” he said.

    About Afari Hospital

The Afari Community Hospital, also known as the Afari Military Hospital, is located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Its construction began in 2014 during the presidency of John Dramani Mahama under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. The project was initiated as part of a broader effort to improve healthcare infrastructure across the country.

The hospital was intended to be a state-of-the-art facility with modern medical equipment to provide high-quality healthcare services to the military personnel and the general public. It was part of a series of health infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery in Ghana.

The current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has continued the project. However, there have been delays and challenges in its final completion and operationalization.

You can’t condemn current sale of SSNIT hotels because you did same during your administration – PNP Chair tells NDC

Chairperson of the newly formed People’s National Party (PNP), Janet Asana Nabla, has criticized members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who participated in the ‘Hands Off Our Hotels’ demonstration.

She pointed out that during the NDC’s regime, they also sold assets belonging to the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), making their condemnation of the controversial sale of some SSNIT hotels to Rock City Hotel hypocritical.

In an interview with Keminni Amanor on TV3’s Hot Issues on June 13, Nabla stated,“SSNIT properties, hotels were sold under the NDC regime, and I wanted to write on a placard – ‘Operation vote NPP and NDC out’. They were sold to their party sympathisers – it doesn’t matter. None of them who did [participated in] the demonstration had the moral right to be there,” Janet Nabla observed.

As the former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Nabla emphasized that the PNP did not join the NDC Minority MPs in the protest because it did not meet their standards.

“The PNP, we object the sale of government properties into individuals’ hands. They did a demonstration; we [PNP] were not part of the demonstration because the way they captured it, we did not fit in.”

Addressing the perceived hypocrisy, she added, “Those who sold assets are now protesting another sale. Instead of letting the PNP critique both NDC and NPP, they were there holding placards.”

    Hands Off Our Hotels Demonstration

On June 18, 2024, protesters took to the streets of Accra to demand a halt to the sale of a 60% stake in four SSNIT-owned hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Food and Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong. The demonstration, led by North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, started at the Labadi Beach Hotel and ended at the Christ the King Church.

Ablakwa, along with Organized Labour and other stakeholders, questioned the selection process of Rock City as the buyer and called for an immediate halt to the sale.

The calls for transparency and accountability in the sale of SSNIT’s hotel stakes reflect a broader demand for integrity in public asset management.

Probe alleged assault on CSU student by NDC members – NPP tells Police

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communication Director, Richard Ahiagbah, has strongly condemned the alleged assault on a student at Christian Service University College by individuals believed to be affiliated with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The incident reportedly occurred during a speech by former President John Mahama when Nana Boakye, a student, retorted, “Mahama will lose,” in response to remarks about Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer.

Richard Ahiagbah visited Nana Boakye on Saturday, June 22, to express his support and solidarity. He emphasized that no Ghanaian should endure such “senseless and lawless” abuse for exercising their right to free speech.

“It is absolutely unacceptable for anyone to be assaulted for merely expressing their opinion. Nana Boakye did nothing wrong by disagreeing with former President Mahama. The attempt by the Ashanti NDC to downplay this issue is equally troubling,” Ahiagbah stated.

He called for immediate action from law enforcement authorities, criticizing the police for their inaction in apprehending the perpetrators.

“It is deeply troubling that the police have not taken action to arrest those responsible for this vicious assault on Nana Boakye. We demand justice for him and a thorough investigation into this matter.”

Mr Ahiagbah urged the government and relevant authorities to ensure the protection of free speech and hold those responsible for such acts of violence accountable.

He stressed the importance of maintaining a society where individuals can freely express their opinions without fear of retribution.

  • 2024 election: NDC targets 85% of total votes in the Volta Region

2024 election: NDC targets 85% of total votes in the Volta Region

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has set an ambitious target to secure over 85% of the votes in the Volta Region in the upcoming general elections in December 2024.

Egypt Kudeto, the Volta Regional NDC Vice Chairperson, made this announcement during a 24-hour health walk in Kpetoe, located in the Agotime Ziope District.

Mr Kudeto called on party members to actively participate in the party’s campaign machinery to achieve this goal. He urged supporters to contribute financially to help mobilize logistics and fuel vehicles for campaign activities.

“We are appealing that you help us financially to fuel our vehicles for campaigns. So on January 7, 2025, people will be transported to Independence Square for the swearing-in because John Mahama is winning the presidential election,” he stated confidently.

Mr Kudeto added, “Volta Region, we are giving JM more than 85%-90% of total votes.”

Charles Agbeve, the Member of Parliament for Agotime Ziope, echoed Kudeto’s sentiments, predicting a significant victory for the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.

He forecasted that the NDC would win 150 seats in parliament. Agbeve highlighted the development projects undertaken by the NDC in his constituency, contrasting them with the lack of initiatives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“John Mahama is in opposition but he made available bulldozers to reshape our roads. If he is not a nation-builder, then what is he? He is constructing roads in opposition, imagine what will happen when he comes to power,” Agbeve remarked.

Mr Agbeve also criticized the NPP for not constructing the Ho-Denu Road despite budgeting for it in 2021, allegedly because the region did not support them in the elections.

He emphasized that Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy would help curb rising unemployment rates in the country.

“For our children and the youth to have the opportunity to be enrolled into the security services, get employed, it is the 24-hour economy under John Mahama that can see this manifested. Let us vote for him,” he urged.

Additionally, Mr Agbeve expressed frustration over the delay in clearing medical supplies donated by Global Fund at the Tema Port, warning that the Ministry of Health would face repercussions if the supplies were not cleared within two weeks.

Edem Agbana, the NDC Ketu North Parliamentary Candidate, praised Agbeve’s efforts in parliament despite the challenges of being in opposition.

He assured that Agbeve would be appointed to a ministerial position when Mahama wins, enabling further development in the area. Agbana also warned against split voting, known as “skirt and blouse” voting, urging constituents to vote consistently for the NDC.

Malik Bosintale, the National NDC Deputy Communications Officer, encouraged party members in Agotime Ziope to work diligently to reduce NPP votes in the upcoming elections.

He called for vigilance on election day to protect the ballot boxes, promising that the next NDC government would reward the Volta Region with significant development projects.

The Volta Regional Youth Organizer, Mathias Alagbo, urged NDC members to become vocal advocates for the party, spreading its message at every public gathering. “We must talk about the hardships in the country and the good message of NDC at every public gathering. We need volunteers to work and criticism to win the elections,” he said.

Julianna Azumah Mensah, the Former Member of Parliament for Agotime Ziope, reiterated the NDC’s commitment to establishing a Women’s Bank to provide financial support for women entrepreneurs.

“Under a John Mahama government, we will have a bank solely for women traders. Women will take money from the bank for their businesses and take care of their families,” she declared.

Sena Nutekpor, the Agotime Ziope Constituency Youth Organiser, emphasized the importance of grassroots mobilization to ensure the NDC’s return to power.

“Former President Mahama must return to rescue this country. This year’s campaign and election are just like a community service to save Ghana,” he concluded.

Director of Inter-Party and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Relations (Corporate Affairs) for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Boamah Otokunor, has stressed the urgent necessity for restructuring the country’s economic frameworks to ensure resilience and advancement.

This call to action was underscored during a pivotal meeting with representatives from the Integrated Social Development Centre (ISODEC).

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Otokunor highlighted the current economic challenges facing the nation, emphasizing that without substantial reforms, sustainable development would remain unattainable.

“The survival and growth of our nation hinge on a comprehensive restructuring of our economic frameworks,” he stated.

“It is imperative that we adopt new strategies that are resilient and inclusive to navigate the complexities of the modern economic landscape.”

Dr. Otokunor further spotlighted proactive measures initiated by former President John Dramani Mahama, who established the NDC LAB committee.Comprising seasoned technocrats, this committee is tasked with conducting a thorough analysis of the economy and providing actionable insights and innovative solutions to address economic issues.

The meeting with ISODEC also emphasized collaborative efforts to address social and economic disparities. Both parties agreed on the importance of a multifaceted approach, integrating diverse perspectives and expertise to achieve shared objectives.

“The NDC LAB is a testament to our commitment to leveraging expertise and evidence-based approaches in addressing our economic challenges. By bringing together the brightest minds, we aim to develop robust economic policies that will foster long-term stability and growth,” Otokunor noted

Present at the meeting were Dr. Mary Ewusi, Deputy Director of Inter-Party and Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Relations (Corporate Affairs), and other members of the Directorate.

NDC MP apologises for ‘betraying’ Ablakwa, party in SSNIT hotels sale saga

David Vondee, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Twifo Atti Morkwa, has apologized for his earlier defense of under-fire Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong regarding the planned purchase of a major stake in hotels belonging to the state-owned pensions outfit, SSNIT, by Acheampong’s company, Rock City Hotels.

Vondee had initially defended Acheampong, stating in an interview on Asempa FM that the minister was a friend and businessman who was unfairly targeted in the public tender process for the hotels. However, he has now made a U-turn on his stance.

In a recent interview on pro-NDC radio station, Power FM, Vondee apologized and retracted his support for the minister. He expressed full support for North Tongu MP, Okudzeto Ablakwa’s campaign against the purchase of state assets by politicians, a position he emphasized was also supported by NDC Flagbearer for the 2024 polls, John Dramani Mahama.

“I apologize to the rank and file of all the NDC members who felt that what I said was unpalatable. I apologize to them and I take my words back totally,” he stated.

“I didn’t mean to hurt the NDC and I am not opposed to Okudzeto Ablakwa. I stand by the position of non-purchase of state assets by politicians as championed by John Mahama and his running mate,” he emphasized.

Vondee also revealed that he had sponsored some of the people who attended the #HandsOffOurHotels demonstration led by Ablakwa earlier in the week.

He clarified that a viral tape of his earlier support for the minister had been truncated and did not reflect his broader and known position on the matter.

“I am very differing on the Bryan issue. Bryan is my friend so I talk about it differently. If you are selling something and I seek to buy it legally, under normal circumstances, I will buy it.

“So why is SSNIT that is seeking to sell our property being excused? And I don’t know how the NDC will understand me. Why is SSNIT being left off the hook and Bryan is being attacked frontally?

“By all standards, Bryan is a businessman, I am a businessman, if you think you don’t want to sell the hotels, stop the deal. The fact is that it is not good for the young man’s business,” he submitted on Accra-based Asempa FM on June 19.

  • Ghana needs patriotic leaders, not unscrupulous leaders to sustain democracy — John Mahama

Ghana needs patriotic leaders, not unscrupulous leaders to sustain democracy — John Mahama

Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, emphasized the crucial role of patriotic leadership in upholding democracy within a nation.

According to him, regardless of the duration of a country’s democratic practices, the integrity and honesty of its leaders are paramount.

A leader’s commitment to transparency and truthfulness is essential to safeguarding the will of the people and preventing any erosion of democratic principles.

“You can have the best constitution and the best regulation and laws, if an unscrupulous leader decides to take advantage of the situation, the person will do so.

“And if he does and we don’t have the population to push and hold him back, then he will get away with it,” Mr Mahama added.

The former President was delivering a public lecture on the theme: Sustainability of democracy in Africa: The Ghanaian experience,” in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, last Wednesday.

It was organised by the Christian Service University as part of activities marking its golden jubilee celebrations.
    Occurrence

Referring to the United States as a case study, Mr. Mahama pointed out that despite the country’s long-standing democratic traditions spanning more than two centuries, there was a notable incident where former President Donald Trump was able to provoke individuals to storm the Capitol Hill following his electoral defeat in 2020.

He highlighted this event to illustrate how vulnerabilities within even established democracies can be exploited.

Mr. Mahama emphasized that such occurrences could potentially transpire in any nation lacking a steadfast leader genuinely committed to the nation’s welfare and democratic values.

Mr Mahama further said that leadership, such as the Office of the President “are weighty and must be approached with utmost seriousness”.

“Ghanaians are in dire straits and this is not the time for comedy or concert party,” he said.

On the December 7 general election, the former President said that following experiences learnt from the last elections in 2020, the NDC was going into the upcoming poll with its own referee by remaining vigilant to ensure every vote cast for the party was accounted for.

“We will enter the ring with our own referee by taking advantage of every instrument we are afforded to make sure that the vote you cast for me is protected and counted,” he said.

Mr Mahama explained that the reason the NDC always accused the current Electoral Commission (EC) of being in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government was due to its disposition that had consistently shown that it could not be trusted.

“Indeed, it is also a fact that this government concocted reasons to remove the plain Electoral Commissioners and replaced them with people of their choice,” he alleged. Mr Mahama further said that although the President has the power to appoint members of the commission, such members should not be people with known political affiliations.

He argued, however, that certain members of the current commission are influenced by political affiliations, citing one individual who purportedly serves as a patron for a youth organization associated with the NPP called Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON).

“This commission has shown that it cannot be neutral. A commissioner has said that the NDC is a serious existential treat to Ghana’s democracy, and he is still there.

“How do you expect such a person to conduct a free and fair election?” he asked.

Mr Mahama said the NDC was not expecting the EC to rig the elections in their favour, but was only calling for fairness to ensure that the will of the people was respected.

  • NDC will invest $3bn into creating digital jobs – Mahama

NDC will invest $3bn into creating digital jobs – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has hinted that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aims to allocate $3 billion towards generating more digital jobs for the youth through its One Million Coders Programme.

“The One Million Coders Programme will be aimed at creating additional digital jobs for our youth and we intend to spend $3 billion investments in Information and Communication Technology (ICT),” he told audience at a public lecture at the Christian Service University in Kumasi.

Addressing as the Guest Speaker at the lecture hosted by the Christian Service University as a part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Former President emphasized that Ghana would witness the establishment of sound and prudent economic management, grounded in extensive governance and economic reforms, under the new leadership of the NDC.

He emphasized that his primary focus would be on stabilizing the economy, halting the depreciation of the cedi, and restoring its value against other currencies.

“Our economic policy would be geared towards sustainable growth with an equitable distribution of the proceeds of growth amongst our citizens,” the Former President assured.

He further indicated that, “The basic structure of our economy reliant on raw material export with little or no value addition is no longer tenable.”

He expressed that substantial growth and wealth generation would remain unattainable, leading to the government’s failure to cater to the needs of the populace if the current situation persisted.

Mr. Mahama stated that the upcoming NDC administration would endeavor to revive the nation’s traditional export sectors to their former prominence. Additionally, providing incentives to cocoa farmers to boost exports and revitalizing the sector to capitalize on enhanced world market prices would be a key focus for the NDC.

“We will also increase production in our oil and gas sector.

The last eight years have been wasted without one single oil well brought on stream,” he bemoaned.

He noted that the oil and gas industry was undergoing a transitional phase as the world moved towards green energy. Consequently, countries with oil resources were rushing to extract them. However, Ghana had squandered eight years without expanding its oil wells.

“If we don’t bring these producers back on stream and take advantage of our oil and gas sector, the world would make the transition, and our gas and oil will become stranded assets,” he cautioned.

He assured that his administration would strive to enhance Ghana’s sovereignty over its natural resources and shift towards processing them locally. Simultaneously, efforts would be made to attract investments in sectors like agriculture, industry, and agribusiness.

“This will increase our export potentials and bring in foreign exchange so that it can lead to a stable currency,” he opined.

  • NDC will win back the Eastern Corridor – Former GCB Bank MD

NDC will win back the Eastern Corridor – Former GCB Bank MD

Former Managing Director of GCB Bank and representative of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ernest Agbesi, has emphasized the importance of peaceful elections as Ghana approaches another crucial electoral period.

Following a donation of 15 motorbikes to orphan constituencies in the Eastern Corridor of Ghana, Agbesi underscored that while Ghana is inherently peaceful, any instigators of trouble will face resolute opposition.

Expressing confidence in the NDC’s prospects, Agbesi asserted their determination to reclaim all seats lost in northern Ghana during the 2020 elections, predicting challenges for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) amidst current realities.

“Ghana is a peaceful country so I don’t think we need people to come and be telling us or preaching peace to us. Nobody wants to die because of elections so I believe, personally, that there’s not going to be any problem but as a party, like our leaders are saying, we are prepared for peace but if they bring violence too, I think our people are ready for it.

Addressing the strategic importance of the Eastern Corridor, Agbesi highlighted traditional NDC strongholds and affirmed their intent to reclaim constituencies such as Kpandai, Zagzugu Tatale, Gushegu Karaga, and Bunkurugu Yunyo. He emphasized a shift in voter mindset away from monetary inducements, asserting that Ghanaians now prioritize sustainable governance over short-term gains.

“As for the Eastern corridor, we are taking it back because it is our traditional seats. Some places, they used money but Ghanaians have realised that if they give you money today and you spend, before the next four years, you are going to be suffering. So, we are wide awake now. I don’t think anybody will go and collect money to sell his vote out. No. the reality is on the ground and people are seeing it. So, we are taking back the Eastern Corridor from Kpandai to Zagzugu Tatale, to Gushegu Karaga, Bunkurugu Yunyo, we are taking all because they are our seats,” he stated.

At the motorbike presentation in Yendi, Abukari Dawumi, MP for Wulensi, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting its significance in mobilizing supporters ahead of the upcoming polls. He acknowledged the historical electoral competitiveness of Wulensi and expressed optimism in securing consecutive victories for the NDC.

Ali Adolf, NDC Northern Regional Chairman, echoed the party’s determination for electoral success, highlighting extensive voter registration efforts and emphasizing their readiness to assume power.

“With the registration over here, we gave it every attention. It’s nothing less than 90%. We gave it the attention that it required. We are very hungry for power. So, we took the pain to ensure that at least we sensitise the people and those who have attained the age of 18 got themselves registered.

“If you don’t have voters, you cannot talk about getting power. And so, we did a lot of sensitisation to let people come out to register. We are now assured that victory will come for sure,” he said.

The NDC, under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, eyes a return to governmental authority in the December 2024 elections, with aspirations for Mahama’s final term as president of Ghana.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Mahama Dramani, has responded to criticisms regarding her age by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

The Majority Leader had questioned her suitability for the role based on her age, with Prof Opoku-Agyemang being 72 years old and Mr. Mahama 65.

Speaking to female media professionals in Accra, Prof Opoku-Agyemang confidently expressed pride in her age and addressed the remarks from Alexander Afenyo-Markin, which many viewed as attempts to undermine her candidacy by focusing on age rather than qualifications and achievements.

She emphasized that her extensive experience and wisdom accumulated over the years would be invaluable assets in her potential role should the NDC win the election.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang underscored her deep background and knowledge, asserting her readiness to contribute effectively to national leadership.

The professor urged the public to look beyond age and recognize the significance of experience and competence in leadership, which she believes are crucial for the advancement and development of the nation.

Responding to the criticisms, Prof Opoku-Agyemang questioned the substance of the remarks made about her age, suggesting they were distractions from more pertinent issues.

She challenged critics to focus on substantive matters rather than resorting to unnecessary distractions.

She concluded by affirming her contentment with herself and expressing gratitude for her journey so far, believing that God will continue to guide her and others toward further achievements.

“Let everybody understand that I’m very proud of every minute God has given me, and if he gives me more, I’ll be more grateful. But my life is in His hands not anybody’s hands. I don’t consider my age as a nuisance, I consider it as a blessing, so that is it.

“What else is there to say? Is that all they could say? Did they also say that I was corrupt? Why couldn’t they say that I was insulting people?.”

“You see, a lot of these things we must see as unnecessary and unuseful distractions. Is that all they can say? They should find other forms. What about their own selves? I never said I was an angel but I don’t think I’ve killed anybody’s child.

“So I’m happy with myself, I’m proud of how far God has brought me and I believe God will take everybody much further,” she insisted.

  • We’ll go into 2024 elections with our own referee – Mahama on mistrust of EC

We’ll go into 2024 elections with our own referee – Mahama on mistrust of EC

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on all stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission (EC), to ensure that the Presidential and Parliamentary elections on December 7 2024, are conducted freely and fairly.

Speaking at a public lecture at Christian Service University in Kumasi during the university’s 50th anniversary, Mahama highlighted the theme “Sustainability of Democracy in Africa: The Ghanaian Experience,” the former President said, “Disputed elections, as witnessed in other African countries, have triggered civil unrest resulting in loss of human lives. So, elections have the potential to disrupt peace, which is why we emphasize that elections must be transparent, free, and fair.”

Mahama underscored the necessity of having an impartial electoral arbitrator who is fair, transparent, and neutral.

He cited the example of Dr. Afari Gyan, a highly respected former electoral commissioner, and Charlotte Osei, whom he appointed.

Despite her appointment by him, Mahama noted, he lost the election she supervised, which NPP considered the fairest election ever conducted.

Mahama voiced concerns about the Electoral Commission’s performance in the 2020 elections, asserting that many issues arose, which should be avoided in future elections.

He accused the current government of removing three electoral commissioners under false pretenses and replacing them with individuals known for their NPP affiliations.

He stressed the importance of appointing commissioners who are not openly affiliated with any political party, criticizing the current administration for not adhering to this principle.

Mahama pointed out that individuals with strong ties to TESCON, the NPP’s student wing, now serve as electoral commissioners, raising questions about their neutrality.

Mahama also accused the Electoral Commission of bias against the NDC, citing a commissioner’s statement that the NDC is the most serious threat to Ghana’s democracy. He questioned how such a person could conduct a free and fair election.

“There were several issues raised and reiterated about the Electoral Commission not being as neutral as expected. Indeed, it must be true that this government concocted reasons to remove three electoral commissioners and replaced them with people of their choice who are known for their NPP credentials.

“People who were patrons of TESCON are today sitting as electoral commissioners. If you go to the Bono region and ask about one of the deputy commissioners, Appiagyei, he was their elections director, IT director, and a communication member. Who do you expect such a person to be neutral in his work?” he asked.

Despite these challenges, Mahama reiterated that the NDC is not seeking to have the elections rigged in their favor.

“This Electoral Commission has demonstrated that the commissioner cannot be neutral in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections. A commissioner said the NDC is the most serious existential threat to Ghana’s democracy, and he is still a commissioner. How do you expect somebody like that to conduct a free and fair election? So, despite the adversity, the Electoral Commission will do its best to prove me wrong in this election.”

“We are just asking them to conduct a free and fair election for the country and let the will of Ghanaians prevail. That’s all we are looking for. But as Azumah Nelson said, this time we are going into the elections with our own referee. We will knock down the NPP to the level that the Electoral Commission can never overturn the results for the NPP,” Mahama assured.

“It’s possible to have a different style or haircut” – Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang ‘mocks’ Bawumia

Running mate of the opposition National Democratic Congress’ John Mahama, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has cautioned Ghanaians to be wary of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 slogan, “It is possible,” suggesting that the party may not be able to deliver on its promises.

Speaking at an event with female media professionals in Accra, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang criticized the NPP’s track record, citing recent events as evidence of their failure to fulfill their commitments.

She specifically mentioned the picketing by pensioner bondholders at the Finance Ministry, demanding the release of their funds.

She urged Ghanaians to critically examine the NPP’s promises and consider the reality of their delivery when making electoral decisions.

“When we say it is a people’s manifesto, we mean it. You can just shut a couple of us in a room for a couple of weeks and we can draft one for you nicely. But for who are you doing the manifesto for? Does it include journalists? Yes, it includes journalists of many areas of focus,” she stated.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also dismissed criticisms that the NDC lacks ideas and vision to govern effectively if elected.

She emphasized the party’s commitment to engaging with various groups, including women, to understand their concerns and incorporate them into their manifesto.

NPP will fail you if you vote for them – Jane Naana to Ghanaians

The running mate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has cautioned Ghanaians about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 slogan, “It is possible,” alleging that the ruling party would not fulfill its promises.

During a meeting with female media professionals in Accra, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang criticized the NPP’s track record, citing recent events as proof of their inability to meet their commitments.

She specifically mentioned the protest by pensioner bondholders at the Finance Ministry demanding their funds.

She urged Ghanaians to carefully scrutinize the NPP’s pledges and assess their actual delivery when deciding how to vote.

“At a time of different haircuts, and at a time old people picketing at the ministry of finance…at that time they also thought that none of this will happen, they didn’t even imagine that it is possible. But that has been possible, so when you hear about it is possible, think about it. It is possible to picket at the Ministry of Finance, it’s possible to have a different style or haircut,” she said.

She firmly rejected criticisms suggesting that the NDC lacks the vision and ideas necessary for effective governance if elected.

“When we say it is a people’s manifesto, we mean it, I keep saying that you can just shut a couple of us in a room for a couple of weeks and we can draft one for you nicely. But for who are you doing the manifesto for? Does it include journalists? Yes, it includes journalists of many areas of focus.

“But what about the women? What is worrying them that we have to know? And if you don’t talk to them as a group, how will you know? It’s not that you lack ideas, no, those are childish. We’re a serious party. That is why we’re engaging all of you,” he said.

  • We won’t allow you to steal from the public purse – Dep. NDC Organiser to gov’t

We won’t allow you to steal from the public purse – Dep. NDC Organiser to gov’t

Deputy National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga, has issued a strong statement condemning the Akufo-Addo administration’s alleged attempts to seize control of state assets.

Mr Ayariga emphasized that the youth of Ghana are ready to resist such actions, which they believe are not in the nation’s best interest.

In a recent media interview, Mr Ayariga criticized the current government for failing to uphold its promise to protect the state’s finances.

Instead, he accused the administration of exploiting the nation’s treasury for personal gain. “We’ll allow people who promised to protect the purse to steal the purse and all its contents in it. Where does this end?” he questioned.

Ayariga’s comments were made in the context of a growing controversy over the sale of certain hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) to Rock City Limited, a company owned by the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong.

The issue has sparked public outcry and protest, notably led by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu.

The Deputy National Organiser urged all Ghanaians to stand united against actions that undermine the country’s welfare. He highlighted the youth’s determination to oppose any move by the Akufo-Addo administration to consolidate control over state assets.

“This Akufo-Addo wants to take over everything from this country and amass it for themselves, and the youth of the country will not sit down and allow it to continue,” Mr Ayariga stated emphatically.

Ayariga called for collective action, encouraging citizens to resist policies and decisions detrimental to Ghana’s prosperity. His statements reflect a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction and mistrust towards the current administration’s handling of state resources.

The controversy surrounding the sale of SSNIT-owned hotels to Rock City Limited has intensified scrutiny on the government’s financial dealings and raised questions about transparency and accountability.

Mr Ayariga’s remarks have added fuel to the ongoing debate, galvanizing youth and opposition support against perceived governmental overreach.

Head of the Running Mate’s Campaign for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alex Segbefia, has confidently asserted that the party’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, will secure a decisive victory in the December elections.

According to Segbefia, Mahama’s track record significantly surpasses those of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Segbefia made these remarks during an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Point Blank, aired on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Thursday.

“…We have a case because there is a direct comparison now. We have a flagbearer who has been president before, has been Vice President before, You can compare his record as Vice President with the record of the current Vice President. You can compare his record as president with the current president.”

“He wins hands down. Take all the macroeconomic indicators, tell me in the last seven years add Kufuor’s years which hospital has ever been built by the NPP to write home about…Not just health infrastructure. We’ve done well in almost every structure or every portfolio that exists under this current government,” he stated.

NDC supporters allegedly assault TESCON member in Kumasi

Nana Boakye, a second-year communications student at the Christian Service University, has sustained a head injury following an alleged assault by supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi.

The incident occurred during a public lecture commemorating the university’s 50th anniversary, which featured former President and 2024 NDC flagbearer John Mahama as the keynote speaker.

The tension began when Mahama criticized the campaign of his political rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing it as a “concert party.”

This remark drew applause from many attendees, but Nana Boakye, an organizer for the NPP’s student wing TESCON, voiced his disapproval. He allegedly retorted to Mahama’s comment, leading to a confrontation.

Boakye recounted the ordeal, stating, “I responded to Mahama’s statement, saying ‘Mahama wo boa’ na wo b3 wi’ [Meaning Mahama you’re lying, you will lose]. A macho man approached me, warned me to be careful, and when I asked what I had done, he slapped me in front of the former President. As I was leaving the auditorium, I was attacked again, this time more severely, resulting in injuries to my head and stomach.”

Photographs show Boakye with his head wrapped in a bandage and his arm in a splint, reflecting the severity of the assault.

Efforts to shield him from further harm were unsuccessful as angry party supporters forced their way into the office where he had sought refuge.

Paul Yandoh, a spokesperson for the NPP in the Ashanti Region, expressed profound disappointment over the incident, emphasizing that such violence has no place in democratic discourse. Despite the gravity of the situation, Boakye has yet to file an official complaint with the police.

I lost 2016 elections though my appointee was the EC chair – Mahama

Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized that despite appointing Charlotte Osei as Chairperson of the Electoral Commission to oversee elections, he still faced electoral defeat.

Mahama made these remarks during a public lecture at the Christian Service University in Kumasi, part of the university’s 50th-anniversary celebrations.

He urged all stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, to ensure elections are conducted freely and fairly.

“Charlotte Osei was appointed by me as the electoral commissioner, yet the elections that she supervised, I lost. This points to the need for fairness and non-partisanship. Up till today, the NPP describes the election as the best and fairest election that has ever been held.”

“Dr. Afari Gyan was the electoral commissioner with several deputies, and he conducted several elections. Up till today, Dr. Afari Gyan is respected as one of the best electoral commissioners in the whole of Africa,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of impartial oversight, Mahama stressed the need for an unbiased individual who treats all political parties equally, citing examples like Dr. Afari Gyan’s respected tenure as Electoral Commissioner (EC).

He expressed skepticism about the current Electoral Commission led by Jean Mensa, stating that the NDC intends to participate in the 2024 elections with their own “referee” due to lack of trust in the commission.

Mahama affirmed their determination to prevail over the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and ensure election results remain unaltered.

He said “We are just asking them to conduct a free and fair election for the country and let the will of Ghanaians prevail. That’s all we are looking for. But as Azumah Nelson said, this time we are going into the elections with our own referee. We will knock down the NPP to the level that the Electoral Commission can never overturn the results for the NPP,” kasapafmonline.com quotes Mahama to have said.

Here are the 8 women in NDC’s 33-member National Campaign Team

The role of women in politics and governance has been a focal point of activism and advocacy for years.

A notable example is the current push to prioritize the Affirmative Action Bill in the 8th Parliament.

As Ghana continues its efforts to have a female Vice President, which would be the highest political office held by a woman so far, women remain pivotal in major political parties.

In February, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) unveiled its national campaign team, featuring prominent women in various roles.

We must continue to work hard and communicate our goals effectively – Joyce Bawah to NDC campaign team

Joyce Bawah Mogtari, a member of the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) 2024 campaign team, has called on her colleagues to act swiftly in fulfilling their responsibilities to benefit the party and its flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, June 20, Mogtari emphasized the urgency of starting their work promptly. She highlighted the importance of effective communication, urging the team to deliver their messages swiftly, clearly, and persuasively, using all available tools to ensure their message reaches the public efficiently.

Mogtari stressed the need for the campaign team to connect with their audience, listen to their concerns, and demonstrate empathy. She underscored the importance of understanding and addressing the needs of the electorate.

Additionally, Mogtari advised her team members to avoid arrogance and self-promotion, advocating instead for a focus on the collective good. She reiterated that the success of their campaign depends on their ability to work together harmoniously and prioritize the interests of the party and its supporters.

“Our party has a rich history and a proud legacy. We have achieved great things, and we have a talented and dedicated membership that is the envy of our political opponents. But we cannot rest on our laurels. We must continue to work hard, to communicate effectively, and to stay focused on our goals,” she wrote.

“As we move forward, it is essential that we work together. We must eschew arrogance and self-aggrandizement, and instead focus on the collective good. We must communicate swiftly, crisply, and persuasively, using all tools at our disposal to get our message out,” she added.

Let’s reconcile to win Wa Central seat – Alhaji Hudu Mogtari to NDC

A former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Alhaji Hudu Mogtari has urged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Wa Central Constituency to set aside their differences and unite for the victories of both Dr. Rashid Pelpuo and former President John Dramani Mahama.

He called on party members to bridge gaps and let go of any lingering animosities from the party’s internal parliamentary primaries.

Alhaji Hudu emphasized his commitment to genuine reconciliation in the best interest of the National Democratic Congress.

The former Food and Drugs Authority boss also pledged his unwavering support for all eleven parliamentary candidates, including Dr. Rashid Pelpuo and the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking to party supporters at his residence during this year’s Eid-Ul-Adha celebration, Alhaji Hudu Mogtari stated, “For this victory to be realized in Wa Central, we must reconcile, unite, and focus on marketing our message to the voters to rescue this country from the incompetent NPP.”

He added, “We did not gather here this evening as supporters of Alhaji Hudu Mogatri, Mutiu Rahman, Wahid Bampuori, or Rashid Pelpuo, but we are here to engage in progressive conversations in the interest of the great NDC.”

Hundreds of party youth gathered at Alhaji Hudu Mogtari’s residence on Sunday, June 16, 2024, to celebrate Eid-Ul-Adha and engage in positive discussions about the future prospects of the NDC in the constituency and the region.

Alhaji Hudu Mogtari’s appeal comes at a critical juncture when the constituency is perceived to be divided following the events of the 2023 parliamentary elections.

Several youth activists who spoke at the event commended Alhaji Hudu for his significant efforts in reshaping politics within the Wa Central Constituency.

I will not influence the work of anti-graft agencies if elected president – Mahama

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has warned that Ghana’s forest reserves will be a no-go area for individuals seeking to carry out mining activities under the next NDC government.

He emphasised that the exploration of mineral resources must not come at the expense of preserving the country’s vegetative cover.

He pledged to promote responsible mining and ensure that water bodies polluted by illegal mining activities are restored to their previous state.

Making the remarks during a public lecture at the Christian Service University in Kumasi, the former president said the country’s forest reserves are more precious than any minerals that lie underneath them and will not tolerate any actions that will deplete them.

“I will ban all mining in forest reserves because I believe that many of the trees in the reserves, which are more than 700 years old, are more precious assets than any mineral that lies beneath them.”

NDC lost 2020 election due to Rawlings’ death, COVID-19 – Joshua Alabi

The Campaign Manager for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, Professor Joshua Alabi, has attributed the party’s loss in the 2020 presidential election to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the passing of the party’s founder, Jerry John Rawlings.

According to Prof. Alabi, the pandemic disrupted campaign activities, while the government utilized its COVID-19 relief efforts, including free food, water, and electricity, for indirect campaigning.

In an interview with Channel One News following his re-appointment as Campaign Manager for John Mahama, the NDC’s 2024 flagbearer, Alabi expressed optimism. He acknowledged past mistakes and highlighted readiness to enhance campaign strategies for the upcoming election.

“So what this means to me is that it has offered me the opportunity to make a critical analysis of what was last time and then see how best we can polish what gaps we had and fix that in the 2024 campaign. As you are aware, in 2020…we had a covid in this country.

“We were released to the campaign around somewhere in July. Yes, we had to set our machinery in place. Of course, setting all your machinery in place from July to December was quite a difficult task for us, but we had to do our best. Midway in our campaign again, we had a bad match, and that was the demise of our father, the founding father of the party, John Jerry Rawlings. So we had to truncate our campaign.”

Prof. Alabi outlined strategies for the upcoming campaign, including door-to-door canvassing, engaging constituencies, and focusing on substantive issues to present the candidate positively to voters.

He stressed the importance of maintaining vigilance and avoiding complacency within the party ranks.

“There is a belief out there that the NDC has won the election already, we don’t want to take that because if something belongs to you and you don’t protect it, the thief will take it so we have to work. So we are going to work with various constituencies, we are going to go out there, door to door like we did in 2008 which added up to our campaign and we are also going to look at our messages and the plan of work and I am confident that the with all this we’ll get the flagbearer [elected].”

“A vote for Mahama is a vote for the return of corruption” – Ofoe Teye

The Chairman of the Tema East constituency branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nene Ofoe Teye-chu Agbadiagba lV, expressed concerns that electing former president John Mahama in December 2024 could lead Ghana back into an era of corruption and mismanagement.

In a recent interview in Tema, Nene warned that a second Mahama presidency would plunge the country into familiar scandals such as bus branding, Ford Explorer gifts for contracts, and the Airbus bribery case.

“We are talking about returning the country to the era of the bus branding deals, Ford Explorer gifts in return for contracts and the Airbus contract scandals,” Nene Ofoe Teye-chu Agbadiagba lV said.

Nene emphasized that voting for Mahama would signify a return to political exploitation and the unlawful appropriation of state resources that characterized Mahama’s previous tenure.

“A vote for John Mahama is a vote for the return of corruption and the looting of state assets by Mr. Mahama’s family and friends,” Nene Ofoe Teye-chu Agbadiagba lV said.

He challenged Ghanaians to objectively compare Mahama with Dr. Bawumia, urging them to consider the corruption scandals directly linked to each leader during their respective administrations.

According to Nene, Mahama’s oversight included scandals like SADA and GYEEDA, alongside more specific instances such as the Ford Explorer scandal involving a Burkinabe contractor and the Airbus bribery scandal implicating his brother.

In contrast, Nene noted that Dr. Bawumia has not been directly implicated in any corruption scandals during his tenure.

“Anybody can check the records and all they will do is find out that Dr. Bawumia was generally blamed for the alleged corrupt conduct of some state officials however he himself was never accused of directly undertaking corrupt schemes like President Mahama was,” Nene said.

Concluding the interview, Nene expressed confidence that conscientious Ghanaians would opt to vote for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming election, citing his clean record compared to the allegations surrounding Mahama.

Muntaka, Haruna Iddrisu missing in Mahama’s campaign team?

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its campaign team for its flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, sparking discussions due to the absence of prominent figures.

Notably absent from the 2024 campaign team are former Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu and former Minority Chief Whip Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka.

Their removal from parliamentary leadership positions was viewed as a forceful ousting by political observers.

Initially included in the campaign team, both were later dropped reportedly due to objections from influential figures close to Mahama, who view them as detractors unlikely to support his candidacy.

Sources within Mahama’s circle label Iddrisu and Muntaka as “detractors” who would not work in Mahama’s favor, justifying their exclusion.

Interestingly, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who replaced Haruna Iddrisu as minority leader, has been given a significant role in the Campaign Steering Committee overseeing all sub-committees.

There were earlier speculations that Haruna Iddrisu, also the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, would lead Mahama’s campaign in the Northern Sector. However, he is not part of the broader campaign team, reflecting his diminished standing among pro-Mahama factions.

I am still a member of NDC – Dr. William Atta Owusu

A prominent business figure and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. William Atta Owusu, has refuted recent media claims suggesting his resignation from the party.

The NDC’s National Communication Bureau had issued a directive to media outlets nationwide, advising against including Dr. Atta Owusu in the party’s communication team for radio and TV programs. Subsequently, reports emerged alleging his resignation from the party.

However, in an exclusive interview with Pure FM’s Evans Osei-Bonsu, Dr. Atta Owusu, a known NDC financier in the Ashanti region, clarified that he remains a committed member of the party.

He urged the public to dismiss rumors of his resignation, stressing that he has not received any formal communication from the party regarding his status in its regional communication setup.

“I am a true NDC member, I contested for Subin Constituency as a Parliamentary Candidate and lost. I have not resigned from the party.”

“I remain a key member of the party in the region and my vision is to see that President Mahama is declared President of Ghana in 2024.

But I shall respect the party’s leadership and directives if indeed I’ve been asked to stop going on media platforms for now in the party’s name.

But I can say on authority that I’m yet to receive a formal letter communicating to me to that effect,” he said.

    Background

In a recent widely circulated video on social media, Dr William Atta Owusu appeared on Kessben FM in Kumasi. While discussing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ’24-hour economy’ policy proposal, he made some claims and analogies which sparked widespread discussion and alleged confusion regarding the feasibility of the proposal.

Abass Nurudeen, the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer for the NDC, subsequently released a statement to clarify the situation.

Abass Nurudeen explained that the party financier was not a member of the NDC’s regional communications team and that media houses should desist from engaging him to speak on behalf of the NDC on their networks.

Meanwhile, independent checks conducted by Purefmonline.com reveal that Dr. Atta Owusu has been privately financing the NDC in the Ashanti region over the period, including its communication bureau.

Our checks reveal that the current Plant used by the party at its Ashanti regional head office, valued at GHC160,000 was procured and paid for by Dr. Atta Owusu.
