Jammie Foxx recounts his ordeal dealing with stroke and brainbleed

Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx has shared the reason behind his hospital stay in April of last year. During a Netflix special, the Django Unchained star revealed that he had suffered a “brain bleed that caused a stroke.”

He recalled feeling a severe headache and asking for an aspirin, but before he could take it, he blacked out. “I don’t remember 20 days,” he said.

At the time, his daughter Corinne Foxx described the incident as a “medical complication,” but the family chose not to disclose further details about his condition.

In an emotional chat with the audience for Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, recorded in Atlanta, the city where he was working when he fell ill, Foxx said he was initially sent home by medics after being given a cortisone injection.

His sister then came over to see him and felt that he wasn’t himself, so she took him in her car to Piedmont Hospital.

It was then that a doctor told him he was having a brain bleed that had led to a stroke, adding, “If I don’t go in his head right now, we’re going to lose him.”

He said his sister prayed the whole time during his operation outside the theatre.

Doctors couldn’t locate the origin of the brain bleed.

Foxx also told the audience that “your life doesn’t flash before your face; it was kind of oddly peaceful; I saw a tunnel; I didn’t see the light.”

He joked, “It was hot in that tunnel; am I going to the wrong place?”

Foxx said the doctor told his family: “He may be able to make a full recovery, but it’s going to be the worst year of his life.”

Jamie Foxx’s daughter Corinne helped to keep his condition private until he was ready to speak

The star heaped praise on his sister Deidra Dixon and daughter Corinne for “holding it down” so no one would see him.

“They didn’t want you to see me like this, and I didn’t want you to see me like this,” he told his fans.

He gestured that his head movements were a little unsteady after the stroke, and his daughter was worried people would make memes out of him.

He said he woke up on May 4, 2023 and was in a wheelchair because he was unable to walk and had no recollection as to why, adding he was initially in denial: “Jamie Foxx don’t get strokes.”

He revealed he later underwent rehabilitation in Chicago.

Foxx had been filming Netflix’s Back In Action alongside Cameron Diaz when he became ill.

Since then, he has spoken fondly of the support he received from his family, but this is the first time he has given detail about his condition.

I am happy that you have been humiliated; you destroyed NPP – A Plus ridicules Akufo-Addo

Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, the Independent MP-elect for Gomoa Central, has shared his excitement over the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general election.

In an interview with GHOne TV on December 10, 2024, A Plus criticised President Akufo-Addo, accusing him of destroying the NPP after eight years in power. He added that the election outcome was a clear humiliation for the president and expressed satisfaction that Ghanaians had rejected the NPP at the polls.

“The general outcome of the election is a great one. Akufo-Addo has been humiliated, and I am so excited about it. Akufo-Addo has destroyed the NPP, and it has manifested for everybody to see. If Akufo-Addo had not become the president of Ghana, we would go about telling people that there was one guy who was coming to change Ghana, but it is a shame and unfortunate that he doesn’t have time, like how John Mahama, J. A. Kufour, and Rawlings also had time.

“Akufo-Addo doesn’t have many years left. And he doesn’t have the people who are going to fight for his legacy. Everything is free SHS, and that is all they know; you gave people free SHS, and he and his government stole everything from us and didn’t listen to us. I walked into his constituency and took the seat from his MP, and I want him to understand that is how I managed to help him become president, but he has humiliated himself… It is a shame that they have been humiliated; they have been silent, opposition, and I am in power,” he said.

When asked if he would align with the NPP or NDC in the 9th Parliament, A Plus said he was still in discussions with both parties and would make a decision based on which would best serve the interests of his constituents.

“We are still talking and we are not there yet; I am not going to make a hasty decision. All that I am interested in is developing Gomoa, and I have to understand why I am caucusing anybody. If it would benefit Gomoa, why not? NDC has a majority in parliament. And if you have a majority, the tendency of them doing exactly what NPP did is high, so even though they are in the majority, they cannot silence me anyway,”” he said.

    Background

A Plus, a musician-turned-politician, contested the Gomoa Central Parliamentary seat in the Central Region as an independent candidate.

He defeated the incumbent NPP MP, Nana Eyiah Quansah, by 2,000 votes, polling 14,277 votes compared to Quansah’s 11,637.

Why share rice, oil and money if you know you worked? – Dumelo on opponent’s campaign tactics

Ghana’s political scene saw a significant change as popular Ghanaian actor turned politician, John Dumelo, won the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat as a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an exclusive interview on Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Dumelo discussed his campaign success, expressing confidence in the support he received from the electorate.

He also commented on the tactics used by his opponent during the election, including distributing rice, oil, and money and encouraging voters in the queue to vote a certain way.

“It was at that point I knew she’s lost the election from the onset. If you know you’ve worked, if you know you’ve been a good MP, whatever, and deserve another term, why are you sharing food and money and rice and oil, and of course clearly it backfired?” in reference to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, on her alleged tactics to win the election.

Nonetheless, Dumelo’s comments highlight not only his campaign’s strategy and the engagement with grassroots supporters but also cast a spotlight on the contentious tactics sometimes employed in Ghanaian politics.

Meanwhile, as he prepares to assume his new role in parliament, Dumelo emphasises his commitment to serving the constituents of Ayawaso West and not to repeat the previous mistakes made in the past by other MPs.

“I don’t want to be the kind of MP that will disappear, and election time I’ll come around sharing rice,” he stated.

Embark on a ‘forgiveness tour’ in the Ashanti Region; you took them for granted – Afia Pokua to NPP

Popular Ghanaian broadcaster Afia Pokua, known as ‘Vim Lady,’ has suggested that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should go on a ‘forgiveness tour’ in the Ashanti Region following their heavy loss in the 2024 general elections.

The 2024 parliamentary elections, held on December 7, were closely contested between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In the end, the NDC not only won the presidential election but also secured more seats in parliament.

As of the latest reports, the NDC has won 11 parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region, a significant increase from previous years when they held just one or two seats. This shift reflects growing dissatisfaction with the NPP and a strengthening presence of the NDC in a region once dominated by the NPP

In a Facebook post reacting to the election, Vim Lady pointed out that the results send a strong message from the voters in the Ashanti Region. She urged the NPP to stop taking the people’s support for granted.

“NPP must go on a forgiveness tour in the Ashanti Region. They sure gave them a massive showdown. You can’t take the people for granted,” she posted.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced John Dramani Mahama as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana, 48 hours after the polls closed on December 7.

Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total votes.

Video: “God knows why He created crying and laughing” – Chairman Wontumi breaks silence on NPP’s defeat

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that the party’s leadership plans to investigate why they lost the December 7, 2024, presidential and parliamentary elections.

At a press conference on December 9, 2024, Chairman Wontumi admitted that the party needed to reflect on its performance and promised to work with stakeholders, especially in the Ashanti region, to find out the reasons behind the party’s poor results.

“If it is time to cry and you don’t cry, people will talk about it. And if it is time to laugh and you don’t laugh, people will talk about it, so God knows why He created crying and laughing,” he said.

Admitting the party’s struggles, he added, “It didn’t go well for us. However, the NPP branch in the Ashanti region will soon convene a meeting with all regional leaders, including regional executives, MPs, parliamentary candidates, MMDCEs, constituency executives, and regional council members, to investigate what went wrong and share the findings with the public.”

He assured supporters that the party’s focus now is on recovery.

“For now, we are at a loss. What is important is to bounce back so that Ghana and Asanteman can thrive again” Chairman Wontumi added.

On Monday, December 9, Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa announced that John Dramani Mahama won the 2024 general elections with 6,328,397 votes. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s candidate, received 4,657,304 votes.

Pep Guardiola has no plans of managing any other club after Man City

Manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, has shared his plans for the future and discussed where he might go after leaving the club.

Guardiola recently signed a new contract with Manchester City, keeping him at the club until 2027. This deal will extend his time at the club to over a decade, during which he has already won six Premier League titles, one Champions League, four Carabao Cups, two FA Cups, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Looking ahead, Guardiola has confirmed that Manchester City will be the final club he manages in his career.

He told famous Spanish chef Dani Garcia on his Desmontadito YouTube channel: “I’m not going to manage any other club after City.

I’m not talking about the long-term future, but what I’m not going to do is leave, go to another country, and do the same thing as now. Maybe a national team, but that’s different.”

Guardiola was linked with the England job in the wake of Gareth Southgate’s departure before Thomas Tuchel was appointed as the new Three Lions’ coach.

There has also been speculation previously that the 53-year-old was wanted by the Brazil national team, and there may be plenty of offers for Guardiola to consider once he does finally decide to part ways with City.

Guardiola’s City side are currently going through a sticky patch and dropped Premier League points again last time out against Crystal Palace.

The Catalan coach will aim to get his team back to winning ways on Wednesday at Juventus in the Champions League.

  • Mr President, expect no honeymoon; Ghana wallowing in economic, energy distress – Ben Boakye to Mahama

Mr President, expect no honeymoon; Ghana wallowing in economic, energy distress – Ben Boakye to Mahama

Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Benjamin Boakye, has cautioned that the incoming Mahama government will face immediate challenges, especially in the energy sector, and won’t have time for a smooth or relaxed start.

“The energy situation demands a careful, surgical examination to ensure you hit the ground running on January 7,” Boakye stated in his open letter to President-elect John Mahama.

Highlighting the scale of the issues, he pointed to over GH¢50 billion in annual waste in the energy sector alone, which he said undermines public trust and economic stability.

He described the systemic failures in the energy sector as a microcosm of broader governance issues, warning that inefficiencies in state agencies, declining investor confidence in the upstream oil and gas sector, and bloated administrative structures demand immediate attention.

“This message is not meant to be lengthy, but to state that you would not have the luxury of a ‘honeymoon’ in this situation,” Ben Boakye cautioned.

He emphasized that the new government should focus on transparency and urged the transition team to reveal the full amount of debt in the energy sector before taking office.

Ben Boakye also pointed out the need to quickly fix problems in the downstream petroleum sector and rebuild investor confidence to stop the decline in the upstream sector.

“We can attract a minimum of $2 billion in investments by 2025, but only with swift, decisive action,” he said.

The challenges extend beyond energy, encompassing a strained economy and heightened public expectations following Mahama’s landslide victory.

Ben Boakye expressed hope that constructive policy ideas from the public domain would be embraced to tackle these challenges head-on.

NPP slams Police’s “lackadaisical” handling of escalating post-election chaos

New Patriotic Party (NPP) Steering Committee has criticised the Ghana Police Service for what it describes as a poor and slow response to acts of violence and unrest following the 2024 elections.

In a statement issued after an emergency meeting on Tuesday, December 10, the NPP expressed concern about the growing incidents of vandalism, threats, and property damage, which they claim were carried out by supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The party further alleged that some of their parliamentary candidates and Electoral Commission (EC) officials were threatened at gunpoint at several collation centres, including those in Fanteakwa North, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Techiman South, and Aowin constituencies.

These individuals, the party claims, were coerced into declaring results in favour of the NDC under duress.

The NPP further accused NDC supporters of looting, burning, and destroying both public properties and assets belonging to its parliamentary candidates.

“This is unacceptable! This is lawlessness!” the statement declared.

“The leadership of the party is deeply worried about these happenings and particularly concerned about the inaction of the Ghana Police Service in most instances.”

The NP strongly criticised the Police Service for its perceived failure to act decisively against the acts of lawlessness.

The party called on the police to rise to the occasion and ensure that perpetrators of these violent acts are held accountable.

“We are particularly disappointed in the leadership of the Police Service for its lackadaisical handling of the unfolding lawlessness,” the statement read.

The party also called on the Ghanaian public and civil society to join in condemning the acts of violence, which it said threaten the foundations of democracy and national security.

The NPP emphasised the need for all political parties to uphold the rule of law and called on the NDC to denounce acts of vandalism and violence by its supporters.

“This is definitely not the change Ghanaians voted for,” the statement added.

  • Reliance on natural resources for development financing needed to end debt cycle – IEA Director

Reliance on natural resources for development financing needed to end debt cycle – IEA Director

Director of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), Dr. John Kwakye, has stressed the need for the government to prioritise Ghana’s natural resources as a primary means of generating internal revenue for development rather than relying on borrowing.

In his message to the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Kwakye stated that this approach would help prevent the nation from sinking deeper into its ongoing debt crisis.

“The Mahama administration must leverage Ghana’s natural resources as the main source of development financing. It must abandon the habit of borrowing to avoid further debt crises,” Dr. Kwakye stated on his X page.

He added, “It is the hope of Ghanaians that you will use the second opportunity and your experience to bring about the necessary change to meet their aspirations through inclusive government.”

Dr. Kwakye’s comments come against the backdrop of Ghana’s severe debt crisis, which has forced the government to adopt drastic measures, such as the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), to restructure its liabilities.

Under the current administration led by President Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s public debt has ballooned to approximately $58 billion, representing 72.3% of GDP. This figure surpasses the cumulative debt accumulated by all previous administrations combined. It is estimated that the government has added about GH¢620 billion to the national debt since 2017.

The government has often attributed the debt crisis to external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war. However, unsustainable borrowing, a depreciating currency, and dwindling international reserves have exacerbated the situation.

The DDEP, introduced to address these fiscal challenges, has had significant repercussions. Domestic bondholders, including pensioners and individual investors, suffered substantial losses due to reduced interest rates and extended repayment periods. These measures also triggered widespread protests, with pensioners arguing that they were unfairly targeted.

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has urged party members to avoid blaming one another after the party’s significant defeat in the 2024 elections. Instead, he called for unity and resilience as they prepare for the future.

The Vice President’s appeal follows reports of finger-pointing among party members over the NPP’s loss to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing supporters from the Klottey Korle and Ayawaso East constituencies at his residence on Tuesday morning, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that statistical trends from the election indicated the NPP conceded victory to the NDC.

Dr. Bawumia encouraged members to remain optimistic, stating that he continues to trust in God’s plan. He thanked them for their unwavering support and urged them to stay committed to the task ahead.

“There is more life ahead, so just relax,” he assured supporters during the gathering.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) recorded an impressive comeback at the end of the 2024 polls conducted on December 7, which saw more than 11 million Ghanaians cast their ballot.

Barely 24 hours after polls closed, Dr. Bawumia conceded defeat on Sunday, December 8, and congratulated John Mahama on his victory, even before the Electoral Commission officially declared Mahama as President-elect.

Former President Mahama made a sweeping comeback, defeating Dr. Bawumia by over 1.6 million votes in the 2024 elections, according to information provided by the Electoral Commission. Mr Mahama secured 56.15% of the total votes cast, while Bawumia obtained 43.85%.

Blinken, however, expressed concern over incidents of violence during the elections, which resulted in “at least four confirmed deaths.”

He urged Ghanaian authorities to ensure accountability. “The United States extends our condolences to the families of those killed and urges a full investigation and accountability,” he stated.

Inspite of the electoral violence, the US went on to applaud the Electoral Commission and its staff for their commitment to ensure a “peaceful and transparent process” and commended Vice President Dr Bawumia’s for “his gracious acceptance of the results.”.

Former Sekondi Hasaacas player Kwabena Baidoo tragically lost his life during celebrations for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory in Ellembelle District, Western Region.

According to reports from Ghanasoccernet.com, Baidoo died in a motor accident while joining fellow NDC supporters to celebrate.

His brother, Emmanuel Quarm, confirmed the sad news, saying the family is deeply heartbroken. Neither the family nor his former club, Sekondi Hasaacas, has issued an official statement about the incident.

NDC supporters nationwide took to the streets to celebrate after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat to John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general elections on December 8.

Even before the Electoral Commission’s official declaration, many supporters in Accra, Kumasi, and other towns celebrated enthusiastically, marking the NDC’s return to power after eight years in opposition.

“We cried, we begged, but your tyrannical self ignored our pleas” – Criss Waddle slams Akufo-Addo

Following the NPP’s loss in the 2024 general elections and the election of John Dramani Mahama as president, musician and entrepreneur Criss Waddle has shared his emotional thoughts on what he calls a difficult time for Ghanaians under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo.

In a series of posts on December 8, Criss Waddle reflected on the hardships endured during the NPP government’s eight-year term, describing it as a nightmare for many citizens.

He criticised the outgoing president, accusing him of suppressing freedoms, burdening businesses with high taxes, enabling corruption, and ignoring the struggles faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

“You arrested almost everyone who spoke against your party, making sure even journalists lost their freedom of speech. You collapsed and crippled almost every business that wasn’t owned by your allies. People cried out in hunger, yet you kept imposing higher taxes,” he posted on X.

The musician also criticised the government’s decision to construct a national cathedral instead of prioritising employment opportunities, despite widespread public opposition.

He further accused the government of ruling the country like a military dictatorship.

“Almost the whole country cried, begged, and said, ‘We don’t need a cathedral right now. We need employment.’ But you said, ‘NEVER. I’m still building it.’ You ordered the chiefs to stand up and greet you as if sitting down to greet you would take away their blessings and good policies.”

For eight years, we were all under your military rule. Unless a person shouted, ‘Ajei, I’m hungry or I’m hurting,’ you would arrest or cripple them. Herh, we suffered ooo,” he added.

The climax of Criss Waddle’s posts came when he recalled the “Fix The Country” movement, during which Ghanaians on social media called on the government to address major national issues.

He recounted how many government supporters responded by telling the movement’s proponents to “fix yourselves.”

“People begged you to fix the country, and you told them to ‘fix themselves.’ Herh, you’re a champion. We will never forget you until we die, short man devil,” he posted.

Criss Waddle’s comments come as several celebrities are openly criticizing the outgoing government, with the country preparing for a change in leadership under John Mahama.

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has claimed victory in Ghana’s December 7 general elections, winning both the presidential and parliamentary votes.

Although the Electoral Commission has not yet announced the official results, NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has conceded defeat and congratulated John Mahama of the NDC.

Ghana Police Service has confirmed that the office of Ablekuma West MP and Communication Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, was attacked and ransacked by unidentified individuals.

According to reports, the incident, which occurred on Monday, December 9, 2024, at approximately 1:17 PM, resulted in the theft of several items and extensive property damage.

The stolen items included an unspecified amount of cash, a branded Nissan Hardbody vehicle, a television, a printer, two stabilisers, mobile phones, food supplies, and three new motorcycles.

The intruders also damaged CCTV cameras, barbed wire, and the office door during the break-in.

It remains unclear whether the attack is linked to her loss in the recent general election.

Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful, who first won the Ablekuma West seat in 2012, was seeking her fourth term but was defeated by the NDC’s Rev. Addo, who secured 31,866 votes against her 26,575.

The battle has ended; the great elephant has been slaughtered! – Asiedu Nketia teases NPP

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed great joy over the victory of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.

His excitement was evident during his speech on December 9, after the Electoral Commission announced the results of the 2024 general election.

Known as General Mosquito, he described the NDC’s hard-fought win against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a historic achievement for the party.

“I believe that the party has never seen this level of total mobilization of its rank and file to fight and achieve a purpose. At long last, the battle has ended, and the great elephant has been slaughtered mercilessly,” he declared.

He extended special commendations to the technical team at the NDC headquarters, acknowledging their pivotal role in managing the election campaign.

“I want to specially commend the technical staff of our headquarters, who managed this election very, very successfully. I mean the directors of elections, directors of IT, and all other persons who played roles in this success,” he said.

While celebrating the victory, Mr Asiedu Nketia urged party members to exercise modesty in their celebrations and focus on the enormous responsibility ahead.

“Let me advise that we should be modest in our celebrations because I can almost feel the weight of responsibility on our shoulders. Ghanaians have given us this mandate to accomplish the task of national reconstruction,” he reiterated.

He reminded the NDC leadership and supporters of the high expectations of Ghanaians, adding, “We cannot afford to disappoint them.”

Full text: Mahama’s acceptance speech after formal declaration as next president

Our best days are ahead of us my brothers and sisters!

A while ago, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana declared me the winner of the 2024 presidential elections. I give thanks and praise to God almighty because this successful outcome is the doing of the Lord.

I want to thank the Vice President for his statesmanship in conceding the election long before the Commission declared the results. This concession largely diffused the tensions that characterise high-stakes elections such as this.

The results as declared by the EC show that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) with me, John Dramani Mahama, as leader, has just chalked one of the most emphatic victories in the electoral history of the Fourth Republic.

We have, therefore, been bestowed with a very outstanding mandate by the good people of Ghana.

I am deeply honoured and humbled to receive such an overwhelming endorsement from the Ghanaian people, and I wish to thank all who made this possible by going out to vote for me.

I thank all Ghanaians for your continued belief in our democracy despite the severe crisis our nation is going through. I also congratulate our Parliamentary Candidates who have also swept the electoral landscape with a resounding victory.

I have a legion of thanks to give for this emphatic electoral success.

Let me begin by thanking the Almighty God—the creator of heaven and earth, for protecting and preserving us through this whole campaign period.

To paraphrase the Psalmist, I also give thanks to God for preparing a table before me in the presence of my ‘enemies’. And for anointing my head with oil and making my cup overflow.

Let me begin by thanking my wife, Lordina, and my family for standing by me through all the difficult Dmes when victory and success appeared elusive and out of sight.

On those gloomy occasions, you came through and offered me the encouragement to keep soldiering on.

I would like to thank the Vice President-elect Professor Jana Naana Opoku-Agyemang for being an exemplary and inspirational running mate.

Naana, your decency, humility, and sense of responsibility added so much to this campaign. The eyes of every young girl, not only in Ghana but in nations across this continent and the world are on you today.

Your name has become synonymous with breaking boundaries. You have opened the door for boundless opportunities for our female citizens.

Because of you, the people of Ghana can celebrate the fact that we have made history by electing our FIRST WOMAN as Vice President.

I must also thank my very loyal and dedicated staff, who have been with me over the last eight years in opposition, for the sacrifice and hard work they have put into this endeavour.

To my campaign team members and the countless volunteers who spent uncountable hours, day, and night, working to secure victory, I cannot thank you enough.

To the Council of Elders, the gallant leadership of the National Democratic Congress led by Chairman Johnson Asiedu NkeDa, and our general membership, I am deeply grateful for your dedication and commitment to this cause and your willingness to give everything to ensure success in this election.

To all the religious leaders who prayed for me, to all the Civil Society organisations, and professional groups we consulted in building our message, to all the traditional leaders who warmly welcomed me to your palaces during the campaign, our security officers across the country, the media, and EC staff; to you all I say a big thank you.

For all its historic undertones, this mandate represents many things for all political actors and those who seek to lead our country.

It shows that the Ghanaian people have little tolerance for bad governance, particularly of the sort witnessed in the last eight years, and that they are willing to take decisive action at critical moments when it matters most.

These eight years have witnessed some of the darkest periods of governance. The crises our beloved country has been through these last several years have lea a scar on our national psyche which may take some time to erase.

This mandate also serves as a constant reminder of what fate awaits us if we fail to meet the aspirations of our people and govern with arrogance.

My brothers and sisters, there is much to do to salvage our country and reset it.

It would have to start with a reset of the relationship between citizens and elected officials. We must never forget that the people of Ghana have chosen us to represent their wishes and best interests.

It is the reason we would be initiating important governance reforms and sometimes initiating severe measures in the next four years to reset our nation and bring it back on track as the black star of Africa.

The journey will not be smooth because the outgoing government has

plunged our dear nation into an abyss. However, we are determined to work together with you to build the Ghana we want. We know we shall win!

We intend to work to restore the shattered confidence in our politics and governance arrangements.

This election and its outcome represent an opportunity for a new beginning and as we begin to write this new chapter of our collective story, we need to consciously set the tone for the new direction in which we will be travelling.

    “My Brothers and Sisters”

I want those words to be a reminder to all of you – a reminder to me – and to every individual who has just been elected or re-elected that no matter what office you hold, no matter what your political affiliaDon is or has been in the past, the one thing we share in common is this nation.

It is that WE WANT a much better Ghana.

WE WANT a Ghana that works for everybody, not just a few.

WE WANT a Ghana that considers the well-being of all her citizens and affords them each the ability to live a life of dignity, a life of limitless opportunities.

    My Brothers and Sisters,

From the kayayei to the managing directors, to the market women, the bankers, the teachers, security personnel, nurses and doctors, the pastors and drivers, tailors, and seamstresses – we are ALL essential to the functioning and forward motion of this country.

We, the PEOPLE of this soil—sons and daughters, brothers and sisters— are, in fact, the GREATEST resource that Ghana has. This country, this land, is not for one person, for one family, for one tribe or ethnic group.

This country, this beautiful, resilient, and resource-rich country that we so love, Ghana, is for all of us.

This is our home. But it is not enough to be born here and to die here. We must also be able to LIVE here with saDsfacDon.

We must be able to love, dream, laugh, eat, dance, drum and share all aspects of the culture that was handed down to us.

And to do that, we must create sustainable and well-paying jobs through the 24-hour economy initiative. Our most basic needs must be met—affordable housing and healthcare, food and clean water, safe work, and fair wages.

My Brothers and Sisters, it is with tremendous humility that I accept this clear mandate that you, the good people of Ghana, have given me to lead this great nation as your next President.

Every vote that was cast in this election carried the same WEIGHT. Every vote also carried a HOPE for the future of our country.

I promise you that I will assemble and lead a government that will carry the WEIGHT of those HOPES and dreams, whether you voted for me or not because every victory is a victory for the people—ALL of the people.

Each Dme we have FREE and FAIR elections, and then conduct a smooth transfer of power, it reaffirms that our history of leadership and trailblazing was NOT an aberration.

It is NOT by accident that we were the first nation in Black Africa to win our independence from colonial rule.

It is NOT by accident that the first Black person to serve as the UN Secretary-General, the late Kofi Annan, was a Ghanaian.

It is NOT by accident that so many Ghanaians are out in the world blazing new trails and being recognized as leaders in their industries.

Despite being a relatively small nation, Ghana has been and continues to be a MIGHTY force on the world stage.

We are a PROUD people, and we have EVERY reason to be.

When GHANA rises, we all STAND tall and RISE with her. Africa rises!

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank you, the good people of Ghana, once more.

I know that many of you are feeling frustration and anger, but I ask you today, please do NOT give in to negativity and pessimism.

There have been reports of acts of vandalism at some government facilities and installations. I urge you not to vent your frustration in a criminal enterprise, we must channel your anger and frustration into the positive enterprise of resetting and rebuilding our beloved nation.

Let us maintain AND even MAGNIFY this joy and positivity we feel. We have arrived at THIS moment because so many of you believed that CHANGE was possible.

And now we KNOW that not only is CHANGE possible, but it is also ALREADY in process.

Let us continue to believe that we are ALREADY moving toward the Ghana we want, the Ghana of our hopes and dreams.

And IN this Ghana, where we have turned a NEW chapter and are setting a NEW tone, our BEST days are NOT behind us.

    My Brothers and Sisters,

Our BEST days are AHEAD of us.

    Forward ever!

May God bless you, and may God continue to bless our homeland Ghana.

“This isn’t democracy, this is anarchy – Miracles Aboagye condemns alleged attacks, chaos by NDC members

Spokesperson for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to address recent violent incidents involving their supporters.

In a Facebook post, Miracles condemned reports of an individual allegedly beaten to death during an attempt to loot fertilizers at Akomadan in the Offinso North District.

The chaos reportedly involved NDC members and also left two others stabbed, while the NADMO head office was vandalized.

He expressed deep concern over these acts of violence and emphasized that they have no place in a democratic process. According to Miracles, the opposing party had already accepted defeat to help maintain peace, making these tragic events unnecessary.

He urged the NDC leadership to step in quickly and bring their members under control to prevent further unrest.

“Surely, this isn’t right… The leadership of the NDC must call their members to order immediately. You can’t kill yourselves over victory”, he said.

“Your opponent has conceded defeat and he did this timely enough to diffuse tension and prevent such unnecessary deaths. Let’s show leadership and call these NDC Hoodlums to order. This isn’t democracy. This is anarchy and it has no place in our country”, he added.

He further emphasized the need for civility as the country continues its electoral processes, highlighting the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens.

Ghanaian socialite and influencer Efia Odo has reacted to the results of the December 7 elections, where the opposition NDC claimed victory.

Earlier on December 2, 2024, Efia Odo had predicted on X that NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would win the election. Her prediction stirred controversy, with some accusing her of being paid to support Bawumia.

In response, Efia Odo explained that her prediction was based on a divine revelation and not an endorsement, firmly denying the bribery claims.

After John Mahama’s victory was announced, Efia Odo shared her thoughts on X, expressing her continued faith in God despite her prediction not coming true.

She acknowledged the backlash and trolling she received but stated that her trust in God remains unshaken.

“We all have to go through a moment of shame, insult, and being made fun of because of what we believe. And in those moments, will your belief waiver, or will it stand firm?

“I’m a believer in God through Jesus Christ. Not even these results will shake me or make me lose faith in Him. Laugh now; my peace is in my soul, and no one can take it from me because Jesus Christ gave it to me,” Efia Odo posted.

Meanwhile, although the Electoral Commission is yet to officially announce the final results, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer, has conceded defeat and congratulated his opponent, John Mahama of the NDC.

“Not quite what we all anticipated” – Prince David Osei reacts after NDC takes lead in polls

Ghanaian actor and outspoken NPP supporter, Prince David Osei, has reacted to early results from the 2024 presidential election. With projections showing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the lead, the actor has accepted the outcome.

In a heartfelt message on X (formerly Twitter), Prince David Osei reflected on the campaign efforts and congratulated the NDC on their success. His response highlighted the importance of unity and respect for the democratic process.

“What a fascinating phenomenon we’ve just witnessed! Ghana has spoken, and the results were not quite what we all anticipated. I am beyond proud of myself, my team, and our collective efforts; we gave it our all and fought a vigorous battle,” Osei wrote.

The actor, who had strongly backed the NPP and its presidential candidate Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasised his belief in the party’s policies but acknowledged the cyclical nature of Ghanaian politics.

“The Almighty always has a plan, and Ghana often craves a change every eight years,” he added, expressing optimism for the NPP’s future prospects.

He thanked his supporters for their loyalty and hard work, encouraging them to remain optimistic. He assured them that the party would come back stronger and more determined in the next four years.

This message comes as the NDC reports a significant lead for its candidate, John Dramani Mahama. Early results from the party’s collation centre show Mahama ahead with 56.45% of votes from 37,200 out of 40,976 polling stations, while Dr. Bawumia follows with 41.19%.

Prince David Osei’s public endorsement of the NPP during the campaign had drawn significant attention, with the actor championing what he described as Dr. Bawumia’s “audacious solution-oriented policies.”

Despite the setback, Osei’s gracious concession has been widely praised, with many viewing it as a call for unity and resilience in Ghana’s democratic process.

As the nation awaits the official declaration of results, Osei ended his statement on a positive note, inviting friendly banter and trolling as a way of fostering political camaraderie. “We don’t give up,” he concluded. “Kukrudu!”

With Ghana at a pivotal moment, all eyes remain on the Electoral Commission as the country looks forward to its official verdict.

Delivering a sermon on Sunday, December 8, he said “The same way, God has been speaking to me over the years, he spoke to me but the opposite occurred. The Bible says let God be true and let all men be liars. I saw right, I heard right but the opposite has occurred. There is nothing I can do.

It is very interesting that in our walk with God, there are times that you feel you know him so much but you have come to a place and he always starts and redefines himself to you. “The process as far as the presidential result is also concerned, we will urge the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa and her team to make sure the declaration is not unduly delayed because we know for a fact that nothing can be done about it because it is already in the bag,” he said.

Let me warn you, we won’t take any attempt to alter parliamentary elections – NPP

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has cautioned against any efforts to alter with the parliamentary election results.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday evening, he urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to ensure peace and security at collation centers nationwide.

Justin Kodua also accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of causing disturbances at collation centers in areas where he claimed the NPP had clearly emerged victorious.

“Indeed, data that made our flag bearer concede this morning shows clearly that the NPP has won the constituencies I’ve mentioned. But the NDC, knowing very well that they have lost these seats to the NPP, are unwilling to accept their fate and are desperately seeking to compel the EC to do their bidding,” he stated.

The NPP General Secretary condemned the acts of violence attributed to NDC supporters and stressed that his party would not tolerate any attempts to tamper with the election results.

“We vehemently condemn these attacks and are serving notice that we shall resist every attempt to temper the results of the parliamentary elections in these constituencies,” he warned.

Calling on the IGP to act swiftly, Mr Kodua reminded him of his promise to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.

“Mr. IGP, you made a promise to political parties on two different occasions when we met you at your office, and your words were unambiguous—that you’ll see to it that we have free, fair, and transparent elections,” he said.

He called on the IGP to ensure the safety of citizens at collation centres and to stop any attempts to intimidate people unlawfully.

Mr. Kodua also asked the NDC leadership to control their supporters and publicly speak out against the violent incidents.

Elections: Mahama vows to deal with unscrupulous on military personnel

Presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama, has slammed military personnel accused of disrupting the declaration of parliamentary results in some constituencies.

In a social media post shared amidst the ongoing release of election results, the former President strongly condemned the actions of “rogue military officers” reportedly sent to certain locations.

He accused them of creating chaos and attempting to disrupt the electoral process.

“This is to caution the personnel involved that they will be held individually liable and responsible for their actions,” Mahama stated.

Tensions remain high in some constituencies, with reports of violence and alleged interference by security forces raising concerns among stakeholders and observers.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that it is not responsible for deploying military personnel, as security matters are managed by the Election Security Task Force.

Observers are keeping a close watch as the collation of election results continues across the country.

Nana Kwame Bediako advices GFA to explore innovative funding strategies just like FIFA does

Independent presidential candidate Nana Kwame Bediako has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to adopt creative ways to fund football in the country.

The New Force leader criticised the GFA for not taking inspiration from successful organisations like FIFA, which earns huge sums from broadcasting rights.

He raised concerns about the GFA’s over-reliance on government funds, pointing out the need to explore other revenue opportunities to support the sport.

“I don’t think they [the GFA] are looking at the strategy of other football associations like FIFA. Because FIFA makes most of their money from broadcasting. That’s what makes them powerful,” Bediako said in an interview played on Asempa FM.

“So they’ve managed not just for people to play football, but they’ve built relationships with all television channels around the world.

Ghana, our GFA, is just waiting for a budget and a match. And they carry the people; they go and play; they either win or they lose. They come back; somebody’s going to pay for it.”

Conversations about the state of Ghana football are ongoing because of Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which is the first time in 21 years that the Black Stars will not be at the tournament.

We have been sabotaged – Cheddar cries foul

Leader of the New Force Movemnent, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of sabotaging him.

Cheddar made these remarks during a media engagement after casting his ballot at the Koley Klotey Constituency on Saturday.

When asked about how the election is going, he responded “it is too early to discuss it”. However, he alleged that his movement has been sabotaged.

“It’s very important I make it clear to Ghanaians that we have been sabotaged” he added.

Cheddar claims that the EC denied accreditation for his polling stations, although he was willing to go through the necessary process to obtain it.

He stated that he had polling agents stationed at various locations across the country, ready to carry out their duties, but were unable to do so due to the lack of accreditation.

“I am very disappointed for not giving 40,000 polling agents their accreditation when we were supposed to write a common letter and it’s supposed to be retained. I know they did it for the NPP and the NDC . But the two parties were successful with the EC. But New Force hasn’t been, for some reason the same God that always keep us in peace within our governance will see us through this moment.

Whereas others have sympathised with him, others have slammed him of being to quick to “tyhrow in the towel,” with others comforting him to wait for his turn in the next election, come 2028 after the NDC and NPP have been dealt with.

Meanwhile, the EC is yet to respond to the claim made by Cheddar.

I will never go hungry or be poor, even if I quit music today – Kuami Eugene

Popular singer and songwriter Kuami Eugene, whose real name is Eugene Kwame Marfo has confidently stated that he has earned enough money to secure his future. According to him, even if he stops making music, he’ll never experience poverty.

He remarked, “Maybe if we talk about finances or monetary terms like someone who has achieved so much fortune from music, then as for that one, I could stop doing music.

“Because I think that I have been able to accumulate so much money that if I decide to stop doing music today I would never be poor or go hungry,” he revealed.

In an interview with Amansan Krakye, Kuami Eugene explained that his motivation for making music isn’t just about money.

He emphasised that his passion for music and the desire to leave a lasting legacy are what truly drive him.

“But doing music for me is not just about making money; the passion is also part of it, as is the love for the music and to put information out there all the time.

I want people to listen to my music in the morning and feel inspired or motivated to work, and so if I stop doing music, all these messages from me won’t be fulfilled.

So it’s not all about money, but as for the money, by the grace of God, I have acquired a lot, but it’s about leaving behind a legacy for my songs to be played even at my old age,” he added.

Do more highlife if you want to make hit songs, stay relevant – Kwabena Kwabena to young artistes

Veteran musician Kwabena Kwabena has advised young Ghanaian artists moving away from Highlife music to explore other genres to stick to the former if they want to make some good hits and stay relevant .

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz on December 5, 2024, Kwabena Kwabena, who will celebrate 20 years in the music industry next year, emphasised that highlife is key to producing lasting African music.

He is, however, disappointed at the new trend that many young artists are embracing different music styles, despite the fact that today’s biggest hits are still largely influenced by Highlife, proving the genre’s continued importance.

“Highlife is thriving, and if you want hits, stick to the genre. Some may consider it old-school, but many of Ghana’s top hits, like Fameye’s Very Soon, King Paluta’s Makoma, KiDi’s Lomo Lomo, and even Stonebwoy’s Jejereje, are all rooted in Highlife,” he said.

Looking back on his two-decade-long career, Kwabena Kwabena expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans over the years.

“I am humbled, honestly. I owe a debt of gratitude to the Almighty God and to my fans all over the world for their continuous support,” he said.

He added that staying relevant in the music industry for so long has been his greatest reward.

“Being in the industry for almost two decades is my biggest reward. Next year marks 20 years, and staying relevant all this time is the greatest gift God has given me,” he added.
