A Hollywood actor with Ghanaian roots, Boris Kodjoe, suggests that the Christian Bible should undergo amendments to align with the values of the 21st century.
Expressing his views to Bola Ray, Boris contends that certain prohibitions established in ancient times need reconsideration to accommodate the evolving norms of contemporary society.
Despite identifying as a Christian, he advocates for adjustments in biblical laws to reflect the societal changes that have transpired over the years.
Bola Ray asked Boris Kodjoe how we can change the timeless Word of God. Kodjoe explained that even though the Bible is considered God’s word, it was written by people who shared their understanding of what God inspired. So, the Bible reflects their point of view.
He suggested that, just like it was written by people, it could be edited again to match the changes in society.
For example, he pointed out that the rule about not having sex before marriage could be reconsidered in the 21st century. You can watch the video to learn more.
Recent reports indicate a surge in the death toll in Ukraine following Russia’s military assault.
Ukrainian government and regional officials confirm at least 28 casualties, although overall figures remain inconsistent.
The most significant concentration of fatalities appears to be in Zaporizhzhia, with Governor Yuriy Malashko reporting eight lives lost in that single area.
The situation continues to unfold, underscoring the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the wake of the conflict.
Donald Trump faces a significant setback in his 2024 presidential ambitions as Colorado and Maine have barred him from running as a presidential candidate. This development raises questions about the upcoming general election and its potential impact.
Trump, widely viewed as the leading Republican contender, has seen his campaign rocked by these two states’ decisions, which his team has vehemently criticized as “atrocious” and akin to “stealing an election.”
In Maine, the decision to declare Trump ineligible stemmed from his alleged involvement in the Capitol riot. The state’s Secretary of State, Democrat Shenna Bellows, issued a comprehensive 34-page ruling invoking Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies individuals involved in “insurrection or rebellion” from holding federal office.
Bellows’ decision, while contested by Trump’s campaign as politically driven, was defended as legally sound and necessary to uphold Maine’s electoral laws.
Meanwhile, Colorado’s Supreme Court made a parallel determination, marking the first instance of Section 3 being applied to a presidential candidate. They found “clear and convincing evidence” of Trump’s engagement in insurrection.
Despite these rulings, the fate of Trump’s candidacy in these states remains in limbo. Both decisions are temporarily on hold, pending appeals, leaving uncertain whether Trump’s name will feature on the Republican primary ballots in these states.
The rulings, particularly Maine’s, which resulted from a unique constitutional provision, reflect a contentious political landscape. They also highlight the complexities of electoral law and the profound implications of the 14th Amendment in contemporary American politics.
As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on the Supreme Court for a possible nationwide resolution, with significant implications for Trump’s political future and the broader American electoral scene.
The lengthy 213-page ruling said Mr Trump’s actions in the build-up to 6 January 2021 did constitute insurrection.
His lawyers had argued in Colorado that he should not be disqualified because he did not bear responsibility for the riot.
They also noted that Mr Trump has not been charged with inciting insurrection.
Can Donald Trump still stand in the 2024 election?
Yes. These rulings only apply to Colorado and Maine respectively.
Hours after Maine’s ruling, California’s elected secretary of state, a Democrat, ignored calls to remove Mr Trump from the state’s Republican primary ballot – saying it was a matter for the courts. Michigan’s top court this week declined to hear a case seeking to disqualify Mr Trump.
Mr Trump is far ahead of his Republican rivals so can still win his party’s nomination without competing in Colorado or Maine.
In both Colorado and Maine, Joe Biden won against Donald Trump in 2020 by a wide margin, and it is unlikely that Mr Trump will need to win the states to enter the White House once more.
What happens next?
It is now likely that the US Supreme Court will intervene to offer a ruling that would apply nationally.
That’s because the Colorado Republican Party has appealed the state’s ruling to the Supreme Court.
The top US court will decide whether to take up the case in the new year, but it is not clear when.
Mr Trump’s name will remain on the ballot in Colorado until the Supreme Court makes a ruling or, in a less likely outcome, decides not to take up the case.
The Maine ruling is also on hold pending a legal appeal in the state’s courts. Any decision by the US Supreme Court could supersede this and apply nationally.
The US justices will have to consider the legal arguments which will take time, but they will be under pressure to decide before the Colorado and Maine primaries on 5 March, the so-called Super Tuesday when the greatest number of states hold ballots.
The balance of that court has shifted to more conservative in recent years, thanks in part to three justices who were appointed by Mr Trump when he was president.
Where do legal experts stand on this?
There are two key legal issues to consider.
One is whether Mr Trump’s actions in the build-up to the storming of the US Capitol amount to insurrection.
The other is whether the office holders that Section 3 was aimed at barring should include the president.
A lower court in Colorado has already ruled that Mr Trump engaged in insurrection but the law did not apply to the office of the presidency.
The Colorado Supreme Court disagreed, and top legal scholars are divided on whether this law should apply to Mr Trump.
Lawyers for Mr Trump dispute that he engaged in insurrection and argue his remarks to supporters on the day of the 2021 riot were protected by his right to free speech.
What is the political impact?
Mr Trump’s campaign said the latest ruling is another example of the justice system being used to persecute him.
But there could be wider implications for the general election.
Dozens of other US states have similar lawsuits trying to bar Mr Trump from running, and the decisions in Colorado and Maine could make it more likely some of them succeed.
If Mr Trump was stopped from running in a state where he and Mr Biden are neck-and-neck, that could be critical in a presidential race that is expected to
A video circulating on the internet has stirred a viral debate, prompting netizens to question the authenticity of religion.
In the footage, controversial Man of God, Pastor Odumeje, is seen conducting a deliverance session on a reverend sister, with the unusual approach raising eyebrows among viewers.
The video captures Pastor Odumeje lying face down on the reverend sister while fervently praying for her, eliciting mixed reactions from the audience.
The commentator during the deliverance session emphasized that there was no discrimination against any religious section.
Social media users, reacting to the video, cautioned women against naivety, advising them to be vigilant and avoid falling prey to pastors who, under the guise of divine intervention, engage in unconventional practices.
While certain women are strategizing for success, aiming to independently provide for themselves, others are seemingly relying on men to secure their future.
A South African woman appears to be part of the latter group, patiently anticipating a fortunate turn of events facilitated by the men in her life.
Expressing her perspective, she firmly believes that it is futile for any woman to engage in a relationship with a man incapable of offering financial support.
She posted: “Dating a man who can’t help you financially is a waste of time!!”
See screenshot below:
Her comments didn’t sit down well with some men and women who took to the comment section of the post to bash her for putting unnecessary pressure on men.
@Krugersville:“You guys like pressuring men for no reason and it’s very disgusting , where the fuck were y’all getting money before he came in”
@MandyCoom:“It definitely not, a man can give you more than just money.”
@Shwabade:“Why don’t you help yourself ? Actually where’s your family in all of this ?”
@ButtahCuupB:“This why most of yall still single and lonely. yall don’t care about a nigga making you smile no more huh !? just money”
@Brayoo_briann:“Until I put a & ring on your finger, your financial burdens remains entirely your responsibility. NOT MINE. any help I render is from the good of my heart ?. Some women & think just because they look good Men owe them Money…”
Just a short while ago, Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, the Ghanaian women’s rights advocate, journalist, and event organizer, concluded her captivating singing marathon Guinness World Record attempt after an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes.
While the verification process from Guinness World Record judges is still pending, Ghanaians are anxiously awaiting the official statement.
The suspense intensified when a Ghanaian named Abrantie Kwasi Gyamfi tagged the awarding body in a Facebook post, prompting them that Ghana is ready to join the ranks.
In response, Guinness World Records conveyed:
“Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are aware of Afua Aduonum’s feat, and we eagerly await the evidence to officially crown her as the world’s new individual singing marathon champion.”
Hi Abrantie, we look forward to receiving evidence, this event certainly seems to have captured the public’s imagination.
Renowned Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe, affectionately known as Mama D, has successfully shattered the world record for continuous cooking in her quest to establish a new Guinness World Record.
Commencing her culinary journey on December 23, Mama D aims to persist until December 31, surpassing the existing record of 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds set by Alan Fisher in Japan.
This accomplishment exceeds the previous record held by Nigeria’s Hilda Baci at 93 hours, 40 minutes, and 11 seconds.
Mama D officially surpassed Fisher’s record on Thursday, December 28, extending her relentless cooking marathon beyond the established benchmark.
Her cooking location has become a gathering point for numerous Ugandans, offering various forms of support, both material and spiritual.
Government officials, businesses, and celebrities have conveyed their support through messages on various social media platforms.
Additionally, many have personally visited her restaurant near Kampala to show their encouragement. Several food firms have generously provided cooking supplies and essential items for her marathon feat.
Mama D achieved this extraordinary feat by cooking continuously for an impressive duration of 119 hours and 57 minutes, without taking any rest or breaks for other activities.
Social media is lauding everyone involved in Afua Asantewaa’s remarkable achievement of breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
One individual in the spotlight is her DJ, known as DjikonGh, the official disk jockey for Hitz 103.9 FM. His real name is Kwabena Koduah, and he kickstarted his career at Focus Radio School, gradually establishing a reputable brand.
Also serving as the official DJ for Ghanaian trapstar Kofi Mole, DjikonGh is praised for understanding the assignment during Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s Singathon.
Beyond playing music, he brought a vibrant vibe, offering connection, encouragement, and unwavering dedication to guide her silently through each verse of the song.
From December 24th to 27th, 2023, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum embarked on breaking the record for the longest individual singing marathon.
Ghanaians had mixed feelings, questioning her choice, but she persevered.
Ghana proudly announces that Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has unofficially surpassed the 105-hour record set by Sunil of India in 2012.
The endeavor posed challenges, including GHAMRO song verification, song selection, and vocal strain. Despite social media negativity and doubts about her stamina, Afua remained resilient.
Sing-a-thon rules included no song repetition within 4 hours, no visitors in her glass cage, and a 20-minute break after 4 hours of continuous singing. Afua bent some rules but stood firm.
Upon completion, she was moved to tears, overwhelmed by achieving a milestone she never imagined. The support from Ghanaians, including the vice president, IGP, and celebrities, deeply touched her.
While Ghanaians worldwide expressed happiness and support for Afua Asantewaa’s quest to achieve a Guinness World Record for Ghana, there were, as expected, some dissenting voices.
Certain well-known media personalities, considered knowledgeable about challenges of this nature and the necessary support, added a negative vibe to the Singathon challenge before, during, and after its successful conclusion.
This article delves into the top 5 celebrities who expressed prayers and hopes that Afua Asantewaa’s Singathon challenge would not see a successful culmination.
Rex Omar
A seasoned Ghanaian musician and the present chairman of the Ghana Music Right Organization (GHAMRO), faced a wave of criticism following his controversial remarks during an interview with Kafui Dey on Ghana Television.
In this interview, he claimed that his office had the power to discontinue the Singathon on grounds of copyright infringement.
He insisted that Afua Asantewaa and her team were required to provide a list of songs she intended to perform for her challenge.
This demand was met with disapproval from the supportive Ghanaian public. Subsequently, when Afua complied and submitted the playlist, Rex Omar controversially disclosed it to the public. He later issued an apology for this action.
Black Rasta
Black Rasta, a seasoned Ghanaian reggae and roots musician affiliated with Media General’s 3FM, has consistently opposed Afua Asantewaa’s aspirations from the very beginning. He expressed concerns, citing research suggesting potential health risks, asserting that attempting to go without sleep for over 100 hours could lead to disaster. Despite the controversy, Black Rasta has not issued an apology and continues to stand by his critical comments.
Zapp Mallet
Zapp Mallet, a prominent Ghanaian record producer and musician, faced backlash for his tweets during the Singathon session. The award-winning producer questioned the value of Afua Asantewaa’s efforts, suggesting she should stop and eat instead. Ignorant of the challenge’s rules, Mallet criticized Asantewaa’s song choices and performance. He later issued an apology after being educated about the event.
Kwasi Aboagye
Kwasi Aboagye, a controversial radio personality from Peace FM, a Despite Media radio station, is known for his tendency to generate trends through controversies. Aboagye faced social media backlash for making unfavorable remarks about Afua Asantewaa and her Singathon during his show. He advised Asantewaa to cease her efforts, pack up, and go home for more rehearsals, citing what he perceived as a poor voice. After receiving criticism from netizens for his comments, Aboagye promptly issued an apology.

China denies media reports alleging political motives in Mayday lip-sync investigation.
The claims suggest Beijing pressured Mayday to make pro-China comments, leading to the inquiry when the band refused.
Beijing’s Taiwan Affairs Office dismisses the reports as “fake news” and a “complete fabrication.”
Taiwan states it is examining the claims made regarding the investigation.
Mayday, celebrated for their “positive rock music,” stands as one of Taiwan’s most successful acts in mainland China.
According to an internal Taiwan security note reported by Reuters, China’s National Radio and Television Administration requested Mayday to publicly support Beijing’s stance that self-governed Taiwan is an integral part of China.
While China views Taiwan as a renegade province destined for its control, Taiwan asserts its independence with a separate constitution and democratically elected leadership.
Reports suggest Beijing aimed to leverage Mayday’s influence, particularly among the youth, to sway voters ahead of Taiwan’s upcoming presidential and legislative elections on January 13.
CNN, citing a recent Taiwan security briefing, reports that requests for Mayday to support Beijing’s stance extended for months, coinciding with the start of the band’s China tour in May.
According to officials at the briefing, when Mayday declined the requests, Chinese authorities reportedly collaborated with state media to raise discussions about the band’s purported lip-syncing and issued threats of penalties.
In China, commercial regulations prohibit lip-syncing before paying audiences due to its deceptive nature. Violation incurs a fine of 100,000 yuan ($14,110, £11,240), potential performance bans, and license revocation for show organizers. While rarely enforced, some Chinese social media users question why Mayday is seemingly singled out, given the prevalence of lip-syncing among performers in the country.
Taiwan’s Mainland Affairs Council is investigating the claims, expressing concern that if true, they would further worsen “negative impressions” of the Chinese Communist regime among Taiwanese youth.
Taiwan’s major political parties criticize Chinese authorities over alleged political meddling.
The Kuomintang opposition party strongly condemns such actions, stating that if the allegations are true, it will not only be rejected by fans but also harm the sentiments of the Taiwanese people, offering no benefit to cross-strait exchanges, according to spokesman Wang Min-shu.
The ruling Democratic Progressive Party asserts that the reports demonstrate China’s determination to interfere in Taiwan’s election, stopping at nothing.
China’s Taiwan Affairs Office dismisses the accusations as deliberate moves by Taiwanese authorities to spread rumors, condemning it as insidious and malicious political manipulation. Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the office, urges Taiwan compatriots to recognize these schemes and not be deceived.
The investigation against Mayday became public in early December. While the band and its music label deny lip-syncing, they express cooperation with Chinese authorities.
Amid increasing military and political pressure, China has heightened its influence ahead of Taiwan’s crucial presidential race, exemplified by deploying a record number of military planes near the island.

The somber news was shared by Yaa Pono in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on December 28, 2023.
”Really hard 4 uptown losing my Dad on a Christmas Day .Jah guide you on your journey,,,Mr Adu Antwi…,” he wrote.
In a 2022 interview on Angel FM, the well-known singer emphasized the pivotal role his father played in his journey to fame. Yaa Pono expressed gratitude, acknowledging that his father’s unwavering support was instrumental in his achievements. He credited his father for working tirelessly to mold him into the responsible individual and parent he has become over the years.
“My father is everything to me, and he has bestowed everything he has on me. He picked me up and drove me to where I am now, for which I am grateful.”
The rap icon thus released the song “Yegya” from the “Sovran” album to express gratitude to his father for all that he has done for him saying “if I were my dad, I wouldn’t have survived”.
The Pacific storms have unleashed colossal waves along the Californian coast, leading to chaotic scenes. In Ventura and Santa Cruz, water forcefully breached the sea wall, knocking people off their feet and sweeping vehicles away.
Aptos, at the north end of Monterey Bay, faced the brunt of the storms as CCTV footage captured seawater inundating a beach restaurant.
The aftermath has prompted the closure of several beaches across the state, with additional windy weather anticipated over the weekend, further heightening concerns about coastal safety.
As Afua Asantewaa Aduonum neared the conclusion of her ambitious sing-a-thon, which began at dawn on December 24, 2023, her husband Kofi Aduonum stepped in with a romantic gesture, presenting her with a bouquet.
Kofi has been a steadfast presence at the Akwaaba Village, the venue of the event, supporting his wife tirelessly for six consecutive days. Despite not being the one on stage, his support has been unwavering throughout Afua’s rigorous challenge.
In a recent interview with 3 News, Kofi expressed his confidence in Afua’s ability to reach the 120-hour target, praising her resilience and determination to achieve what she sets her mind to.
The moment of Kofi presenting the bouquet to Afua came just after she surpassed the 117-hour mark in her sing-a-thon, drawing cheers and admiration from the gathered crowd.

The personalities on Shatta Wale’s ban list are Akwasi Aboagye, Andy Dosty, Arnold, Ola, Mr Logic, Bull Dog, Sally, and Abeiku Santana.
Shatta Wale contends that these figures lack a sense of creativity and asserts that their exclusion from media platforms is necessary for the advancement of the music industry.
In the post, Shatta Wale stated, “Before Ghana musicwill stand, these people must be banned from radio and TV. They are just pained!!! They have no sense of creativity!!! Disappointed Celebrities!!!”

To celebrate her achievement, a party is scheduled to take place on Friday evening.
In Bethlehem, a city synonymous with the joy and festivity of Christmas, there’s a palpable sense of emptiness this season. The vibrant celebrations and influx of tourists and pilgrims that usually animate Manger Square are conspicuously absent.
Local resident Madeleine captures the somber mood, noting the stark lack of festivity. “The city is empty from happiness, from joy, from kids, from Santa. There is no celebration this year,” she laments. The West Bank city, under occupation, finds itself unusually quiet, its iconic Christmas tree and the usual carols and markets nowhere in sight.
In a poignant representation of the current climate, the traditional nativity scene in the square is replaced with a display symbolizing solidarity with the children of Gaza. It depicts the infant Jesus amidst large rocks and barbed wire, a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict.
Father Eissa Thaldjiya, a priest at the Nativity Church for over a decade, expresses his sorrow over the city’s transformation. “I’ve been a priest in this church for 12 years. I was born in Bethlehem, and I’ve never seen it like this – even during the Covid-19 pandemic,” he shares. Despite the challenging circumstances, he finds solace in uniting with others in prayer, particularly for those in Gaza.
The story of Jawdat Mikhael, a Bethlehem resident with family trapped in Northern Gaza, further illustrates the widespread impact of the conflict. His relatives, including parents and a brother, have sought refuge in the Holy Family Church in Gaza City, an area heavily affected by Israeli bombardments.
As Jawdat recounts his family’s plight, a phone call from his father, Han’na Mikhael, interrupts, bringing a personal and immediate connection to the ongoing strife that overshadows this year’s Christmas in Bethlehem.
The connection is marred by crackles, and the stability is questionable, but he persists, clinging to the hope of catching a glimpse of his father.
Han’na tells his son the family is doing ok. He says he’s managed to venture out of the church for the first time in more than two weeks to try to find some food. He says that all is left around the church is rubble and that all the shops are burned. “It’s total destruction,” he says.
He wells up as he says that communications are down and that there is no water. Food is scarce, too – “enough to keep you alive – not to fill your stomach,” he says.
Han’na cries as he tells me about how different Christmas was last year.
“On days like this, we’d be decorating the church. There’d be carols. People would come over to help. But now we’re just praying to make it out of here alive.”
The family has already suffered a terrible loss.
A week ago, Jawdat’s grandmother, Naheda Khalil Anton – who was also sheltering in the church in Gaza – was shot twice in the stomach as she was on her way to the bathroom. His aunt Samar Kamal Anton rushed to help her and was shot in the head.
Jawdat shows me pictures of the immediate aftermath and the funeral.
Image caption,Jawdat says his grandmother and aunt were killed by Israeli snipers while sheltering in a Gaza church – Israel says it’s investigating
His family had been sheltering in the Holy Family Church since the beginning of the war. Now, they’ve buried their loved ones there.
The family blames Israeli snipers for their death. The IDF says it will continue its investigation.
Through tears, Han’na says that his two family members died before his eyes: “It was a shock… It was unbearable.”
He apologises to me for crying, and for not being able to speak much: “I’m sorry, but it’s just so difficult. We’ve endured so much.”
A big bang is heard as we are talking, then a second sounds out before Jawdat reluctantly says goodbye to his dad.
This morning in Bethlehem, church bells have been ringing as some locals gathered around the Jesus in the rubble installation and Arabic songs played out on the speakers, one calling for salam – peace – for children.
Dozens of people are in the middle holding a big Palestinian flag – waving it up and down.
The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, is in Bethlehem for his traditional address. He was wearing the traditional black and white chequered Palestinian scarf.
Before he entered the Church of Nativity, he said this was “a very sad Christmas”.
Image caption,The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem is in Bethlehem for his traditional address
“We are in a war, a terrible war. Our thoughts go first and foremost to Gaza, to our people in Gaza… Two million are suffering,” he said.
He added that “a ceasefire is not enough”.
“We have to stop these hostilities and turn the page because violence generates only violence.”
A few steps away from Manger Square, souvenir shops line Star Street on both sides but without the usual bustle of buying, selling and haggling. The famous Palestinian stitch scarves, cushion covers and artefacts hang outside shops, untouched.
This is normally high season for the market. Not this year.
“We cannot celebrate with a lot of people killed in Gaza,” says Abood Subouh, a shop owner in the local market just off Manger Square.
He tells me that, sad as it is to see his city and his business this way, celebrating Christmas feels wrong this year: “We can’t be happy because we are not on the other side of the world. We are still in Palestine.”
After an extraordinary 5 days and a few hours, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum concluded her musical challenge, having sung continuously for an impressive 126 hours.
This feat surpasses the official 105-hour mark set by India’s Sunil Waghmare, the former Guinness World Record holder.
Embarking on her record-setting journey on December 24, 2023, and continuing through to the stroke of midnight on December 29, 2023, the dedicated women’s advocate demonstrated remarkable endurance in her quest for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
How long did Afua Asantewaa Aduonum sing for?
Unofficially, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s singing marathon lasted for 126 hours, 52 minutes, and some seconds.
This means she extended her performance by an additional 21 hours beyond the 105-hour record set by Sunil Waghmare in 2012.
Who currently holds the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon? Renowned Indian vocalist Sunil Waghmare officially holds the Guinness World Record for a non-stop singing marathon, achieving an impressive 105 hours.
Sunil Waghmare, a celebrated singer, received recognition from his city for securing his place in the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon.
Commencing his singing journey at the age of 14, Waghmare completed three basic music classes. According to him, his guru, Bhaskarrao Moroney, imparted comprehensive knowledge, and Waghmare never looked back.
What’s next for Afua Asantewaa and her Singathon?
Following her groundbreaking achievement and the establishment of a new record at 126 hours, Afua and her team will submit their evidence to the Guinness World Record board for review. It’s important to note that the reported 126 hours may undergo adjustments due to time delays and other factors.
Despite only having a brief 20-minute break after every four hours during her challenge, the former beauty queen and emerging journalist stood her ground and delivered over 1000 songs.
Special thanks are due to Ghanaians who turned out in large numbers to cheer and support her, thronging the Akwaaba Village, with some even staying overnight.
The next step involves the review of the evidence submitted to Guinness World Records, who will then make an official announcement regarding whether Afua Asantewaa successfully achieved the feat or not.
In the meantime, Afua Asantewaa has brought pride to the country, demonstrating strength and courage. She has emerged as a miniature star, showcasing to Ghanaians that we can accomplish anything we set our eyes and hearts on.
The excitement is reaching new heights as Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s bold endeavor to shatter the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon enters its sixth day. Since kicking off on December 24, Asantewaa has been delivering a continuous stream of melodies at the Akwaaba Village in Accra.
Prominent figures, including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, have rallied behind Asantewaa’s remarkable musical feat.
Dr. Bawumia graced the occasion on Christmas Day, reinforcing his earlier social media post expressing support for Asantewaa’s ambitious pursuit.
A constellation of entertainment luminaries, such as Nana Ama McBrown, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, Sista Afia, Afronitaa, Delay, Cina Soul, Clemento Suarez, Akuapem Poloo, Lawyer Nti, Piesie Esther, and OB Amponsah, have congregated at the venue, emphasizing their collective endorsement of the event.

According to the official report from Guinness World Records, Waghmare’s marathon took place in Nagpur, India, from March 3 to March 7, 2012.
Maine’s Chief Election Official, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, has determined that former President Donald Trump is ineligible to run for president in the upcoming election in the state. This decision is based on the constitutional clause concerning insurrection.
The central reason for this ruling is Trump’s alleged involvement in the events leading to the Capitol riot in January 2021. With this decision, Maine joins Colorado in prohibiting Trump’s candidacy on their ballots.
This development puts the spotlight on the US Supreme Court, as it is expected to ultimately decide the matter. While Colorado leans Democratic, Maine’s more balanced political landscape makes this decision more impactful for Trump, who is currently the Republican front-runner.
The Trump campaign has announced plans to challenge the Maine decision in state court. In the meantime, the decision remains on hold due to ongoing legal proceedings.
Contrasting Maine’s decision, California has confirmed Trump’s presence on their Republican primary ballot. Courts in other states, including Michigan and Minnesota, have also recently rejected attempts to prevent Trump from running.
Central to these disputes is the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution, which prohibits anyone engaged in insurrection or rebellion from holding federal office. Secretary Bellows’ ruling, extending over 34 pages, argues that Trump’s actions surrounding the January 6, 2021, events constitute a violation of this amendment.
Despite her decision, Bellows insists it is not politically motivated but rather based on law and her duty to uphold election integrity in Maine. She expressed her hope for the Supreme Court to provide a nationwide resolution to this issue.
Trump, who faces other legal challenges unrelated to the insurrection accusation, has seen his campaign and Republican competitors criticize Maine’s ruling. Campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung described Bellows’ decision as “election interference” and announced immediate legal action against it.
This development has sparked broader political debate, with figures like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy expressing concerns about its implications for democracy and the electoral process.
Legal experts and commentators anticipate that this issue, centering on the interpretation and application of the 14th Amendment, will ultimately be settled by the Supreme Court, potentially shaping the framework for future presidential candidacies.
An Israeli military official has acknowledged that the utilization of an inappropriate munition resulted in “extensive collateral damage” during the strikes on the Maghazi refugee camp on December 24.
According to the Hamas-run health ministry, the death toll from Israeli air strikes on the camp on Sunday has reached at least 86 people, as reported by the UN, and there is potential for that number to increase.
Speaking to public broadcaster Kan news, the Israeli military official stated that “the type of munition did not match the nature of the attack, causing extensive collateral damage that could have been avoided.”
The incident is currently undergoing further investigation to determine the exact circumstances.
In response to the report, the IDF informed the BBC that it “regrets the harm to uninvolved individuals and is working to draw lessons from the incident.”
The military clarified that its jets had targeted two locations near an area with Hamas operatives, but additional buildings were inadvertently hit during the strikes.

Kofi Owusu Aduonum, the spouse of Afua Asantewaa Aduonum who is vying for a Guinness World Record with her sing-a-thon, has revealed the significant sacrifices their family has made this Christmas season.

Ini Edo said, “I’m single because I just want somebody that can really love me. That’s all. I’m not asking for too much.
“You can love someone and not ready to be committed. They two different things. Maybe that’s why I’m still single. I can’t be in a toxic relationship if you can’t give that protective energy that allows me to respect you.
“I can be with man I can’t respect. If you can’t earn my respect then we can be together because what is the point? When it gets to the point that I start to disrespect you that means that you have brought yourself down to that point I begin to talk back at you.
“It’s not all about money. It’s about how you manage a situation and how you manage the people around you. Simply put, it all about kindness.”

In Hong Kong, three activists have been sentenced to prison terms up to six years for their involvement in a thwarted bombing scheme targeting public buildings.
Initially charged under the national security law with “conspiracy to commit terrorism,” these individuals were members of the pro-independence group “Returning Valiant.”
Their plot, conceived in the wake of pro-democracy protests in 2021, was intercepted in July 2021 before any explosives were manufactured.
The court learned that Ho Yu-wang, Kwok Man-hei, and Cheung Ho-yeung planned to create bombs using TATP to target government offices, police quarters, court buildings, and railways between April and July 2021.
Ho, 17 at the time of his arrest and deemed the “ring leader,” pleaded guilty and received a six-year sentence. Cheng, 23, also received six years, while Kwok, 21, was sentenced to 30 months after both pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of “conspiracy to cause explosions.”
High Court Judge Alex Lee acknowledged the influence of the “hostile social atmosphere” during the pro-democracy protests, suggesting it could lead individuals astray. Earlier, four others involved in the plot were sentenced in May.
The national security law, implemented in 2020, has been a point of contention, with foreign authorities criticizing it as a means to suppress opposition, while Beijing defends it as necessary for maintaining order. Nearly 300 individuals have been arrested under this controversial law to date.
In a high-stakes operation, police in Texas utilized an armoured vehicle to forcefully open the cabin of a lorry on a motorway.
The driver, who had refused to stop and exit the cab despite officers deploying spike strips, prompted this dramatic intervention.
Following unsuccessful attempts to halt the vehicle using spike strips, the Swat team employed an armoured vehicle to tear open a window.
Subsequently, a gas canister was thrown inside, and officers entered the lorry to extract the non-compliant driver.
The reason for the chase remains unclear, with police highlighting the driver’s erratic behavior, including multiple lane changes and swerving.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez stated that the driver exhibited signs of “heavy impairment,” although the motive behind the individual’s actions remains unknown.
In a significant development, a court inQatarhas commuted the death sentences of eight former Indian naval officers, as announced by India’s foreign ministry.
The ministry’s statement acknowledged the reduction in sentences but did not specify the revised penalties. The charges against the individuals have not been officially disclosed by Qatar or India, but reports suggest allegations of spying for Israel.
Despite the sensitivity of the case, Israel’s embassy in India declined to comment, emphasizing it as a non-Israeli matter.
The nature of the charges and proceedings remains confidential. India expressed shock in October when the death sentences were initially issued, prompting an appeal against the verdict.
The arrested individuals, employed by the private company Al Dahra, were widely reported to be former Indian Navy personnel, although specifics about the charges have not been publicly disclosed.
India’s foreign minister had described them as “ex-servicemen” in parliament. The families of the men confirmed their naval background to local media.
In a recent development, India’s ambassador to Qatar visited the incarcerated men, and during the latest court hearing, Indian officials, along with family members, were present in the Court of Appeal of Qatar. The detailed judgment is awaited, and India remains in close consultation with the legal team and family members to determine the next course of action.
In a catastrophic incident in central Liberia, over 40 individuals have perished following the explosion of a fuel tanker, as reported by the nation’s chief medical officer, Dr. Francis Kateh.
The disaster occurred in Totota, approximately 130 kilometers from Monrovia, the capital, when the tanker overturned and was subsequently engulfed in flames as locals rushed to collect leaking fuel.

In a statement to Super Bongese TV, he disclosed that over 83 people sustained injuries and were hospitalized, with those critically hurt transferred to facilities in Monrovia.

Liberia’s President George Weah has extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and expressed his distress over the tragic images of the incident.
In a released statement, he pledged full support to health authorities, emphasizing the need to augment resources and manpower in the ongoing efforts to save lives and manage the aftermath of this tragedy.
As the conflict with Russia nears its two-year milestone, Ukraine has expressed gratitude for the United States’ latest $250 million arms package.
Announced on Wednesday, the package includes air defense system components, HIMARS ammunition, artillery rounds for 155mm and 105mm guns, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, and medical supplies.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Defence took to X on Thursday to acknowledge the support, emphasizing the American people’s leadership and solidarity.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the package’s significance in addressing Ukraine’s immediate needs and praised the US’s role in leading the international coalition aiding Ukraine. This assistance, according to Zelenskyy, is pivotal in combating terror and aggression globally.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden seeks an additional $61 billion in aid for Ukraine from Congress. This request faces challenges as Republicans demand tighter security measures at the US-Mexico border in exchange for their approval.
The White House has cautioned that failing to secure this funding could result in a depletion of US support for Ukraine by year’s end.
Contrastingly, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed the West’s efforts against Moscow as a complete failure. Lavrov referenced a recent “secret summit” of the Group of Seven nations, where they discussed President Zelenskyy’s “peace formula,” a plan for resolving the conflict, proposed about ten days ago.

The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has disclosed that individuals within the social and business networks of Mona Faiz Montrage, widely known as Hajia4Reall, are now under scrutiny as persons of interest.
This revelation comes in the wake of the socialite facing charges of fraud in a $2 million romance scam case in the United States, following her extradition from the United Kingdom.
During an interview on Morning Starr on Starr FM, Shaun Henry Osei, the Deputy Manager at the FIC, shared that the agency is collaborating with INTERPOL and the FBI to conduct thorough investigations into all individuals associated with Hajia4Reall.
“Obviously she’s not going to be working alone, she’s going to be working in a network. The evidence that you have access to will actually lead you to be able to find out who her greater network is and obviously if you find her greater network, by instincts you will want to look at those people because then they become persons of interest.
The FIC is also asking the public to report suspicious wealth activities to the relevant authorities because such undertakings are often linked to terrorist activities.
“You can report to the FIC for starters. We receive reports from accountable institutions, from individuals so you can make a report and send it via mail and you can even bring it personally. Some of these young guys we see, I know most have been attributed to fraud but some are into very legitimate business. They are into forex trade and other business… Forex trade, I’m not certain what the law says on it, but what I can say is that when it comes to crypto and other things I think as a country we don’t yet have a definitive position on that per what the Bank of Ghana is saying and usually when there’s space like that people are likely to explore.”

Gospel artist Joe Mettle asserts that creating hit songs has no secret formula.
He emphasizes that when musicians receive a song from God, they believe it will positively influence lives and uplift people, and that, in essence, is what is commonly referred to as a ‘hitsong.’
“I don’t think there is any secret to making hit songs. It’s more of what song God gives you and you trust that it will go far, that it will bless lives, and when it does, that’s when people term as hit. No one sits and says I’m writing a hit.
“You put in your best, put in your all, and just trust God that it will bless lives,” he said in a viral interview.
Remember that the “Boo no ni” hitmaker once suggested that aspiring musicians seek out mentors?
He mentioned that learning from those who have gone before you is one way to improve in your line of work.
“In my generation we don’t understand service at all. Unfortunately the internet has given us access to certain level of knowledge to the moment we grab it we assume that we know it all. We don’t know how to learn from others who have gone ahead of us, we don’t know how to serve others who know more than we do,” he stated.
