Challenges in creative arts industry also part of Funny Face’s problems – Shatta Wale

Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale recently expressed his view that the struggles faced by comedian Funny Face mirror the underlying issues within the creative industry.

Through a Facebook post, the dancehall sensation emphasized that Funny Face’s challenges extend beyond mere relationship woes.

“The creative arts industry must break the cycle of self-punishment through depression and frustration. It’s time to speak up and seek help. What’s happening to Funny Face isn’t solely a marital issue; it’s indicative of deeper systemic challenges within our creative industries. Let’s acknowledge the dysfunction in our structures and stop pretending everything is fine. Speak up, it’s time for change!! Sorry my brother funny face ,May God see you thru [sic],” he wrote on Facebook.

On Sunday, March 24, 2024, Funny Face, renowned both as a comedian and actor, was involved in a car accident in Kasoa, located in Ghana’s Central Region.

Footage circulating on social media depicted concerned bystanders gathered around the actor on that Sunday evening.

  • Shatta’s ‘Konekt’ album was removed from YouTube over financial issues with collaborators – Sammy Flex

Shatta’s ‘Konekt’ album was removed from YouTube over financial issues with collaborators – Sammy Flex

Manager of Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, Sammy Flex, has confirmed the removal of the musician’s ‘Konekt’ album from YouTube.

Shatta Wale himself announced the decision on Facebook on March 22, citing financial disagreements with other collaborators on the album.

This announcement stirred up discussions among Wale’s fans, especially since the album featured collaborations with artists like Tekno and Bounty Killer. To address the situation, Sammy Flex took to Shatta Wale’s YouTube channel on March 23 to provide clarification.

Sammy Flex explained that the album was removed due to Shatta Wale’s dissatisfaction with the collaboration dynamics, particularly concerning financial matters.

He emphasised that, despite Shatta Wale’s status as an independent musician who invests significantly in his projects, he expects the same level of commitment from his collaborators.

The removal from YouTube is seen as a step towards resolving these issues, following fruitful discussions between both parties. Flex assured that the team will explore alternative options to address the matter and restore normalcy.

“As an artiste, at every point in time, he has the way he wants his things to go. At every point in time, if these things change, definitely the artiste will not be happy. The artiste will not be happy.

“Knowing the investment that he has also put in, he would want the other partners to also come in with the same energy. He would want the other partners to also come in with the same force. So that when our powers all come together, it will combine to give us the necessary results that we are looking for.

“But as an independent artiste, as someone who is funding all his projects, he wasn’t seeing that. And I’m sure, like I said, there is a process for achieving some of these objectives. And to him, he thinks this is one of the first processes to handle that.
“So to avoid any back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, let me first put the one on YouTube down. When I put the one on YouTube down and we can have some conversations and it works, I’m sure we can get back to normal,” he explained.

Even though the ‘Konekt’ album has been removed from YouTube, Sammy Flex encouraged fans to continue listening to it on other digital streaming platforms such as Spotify, Boomplay, Audiomack, and Apple Music.

He assured fans that the team is actively working on finding solutions behind the scenes, emphasizing that this action does not signify the end of the artist’s opportunities.

“There are still some options that we can explore, and that is what the team will try to do behind the scenes before we move forward. But like I’m saying, it does not take away the songs from online markets. It takes the song from only the YouTube app, on Shatta Wale’s page.

“As much as I know, the rest of the marketing, the digital platforms also have their songs there. All the rest of their DSPs, also have their songs there. So beyond having it on YouTube, you can also access their songs on the rest of the platforms,” he said.

Dancehall sensation Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr known popularly as Shatta Wale recently shared his unique method of seeking divine protection, utilizing Psalm 35 from the Bible as his shield against life’s challenges.

Unlike conventional practices, Shatta Wale revealed that he immerses the Psalm 35 chapter in water and bathes with it during times of difficulty, believing it offers him spiritual protection.

In an interview with GTV’s Kafui Dey, Shatta Wale explained, “Psalm 35 is one of my longest scriptures; anytime I’m worried, I open it. It’s a weapon that shields you from life’s attacks, so I read it constantly. Sometimes, I bathe with it.”

Despite concerns from friends about potentially desecrating the Bible, Shatta Wale emphasized that his actions stem from personal belief and advised against blindly following such practices.

While acknowledging that his approach may seem unusual, he stated, “My friends don’t understand why I tear the pages of the Bible, but I tell them it’s just the word of God I want to be in me. Everyone has his or her belief. I am not advising anyone to go tear the Bible.”

I am not afraid to beat Shatta Wale if I meet him in person – Sally Mann

Entertainment pundit Sally Frimpong Manso, also known as Sally Mann, has launched a series of personal attacks against Shatta Wale, prompted by his team’s reaction to her previous criticisms regarding his performance at ‘The Africa Games’ in Accra.

During a discussion with Andy Dosty on Adom TV, which was monitored by TIGPOST, Sally expressed her disappointment with Shatta Wale’s performance, describing it as lacking in quality for such a prominent international event.

“It was a good platform for Shatta Wale, who is one of the most popular musicians in Ghana, but his performance was so disappointing and amateurish. He was not singing the songs properly and was miming.

“They should have brought people closer to him on stage because he is not confident being alone. He was so dull as if he had not held a microphone before. His choice of music was not the best, he could have used other better songs,” she earlier stated.

After Sally’s remarks, Shatta Wale took to Facebook to indirectly criticize her. Shortly thereafter, Shatta’s manager, Sammuel Baah (known as Sammy Flex), also addressed individuals who had criticized the artist’s performance, including Andy Dosty and Sally Mann, and strongly rebuked them.

However, in response to Sammy Flex’s comments, Sally Mann reiterated her stance on Shatta Wale’s performance.

In an interview on PowerFM, Sally, visibly angry with the verbal attacks, expressed her frustration and suggested settling their differences physically.

Asserting her capability to confront Shatta Wale physically, Sally Mann issued a challenge for a physical altercation.

“If they want to bring it on, they can bring it on. I am waiting. I am not afraid of Shatta Wale. I can beat him if ever we meet one-on-one. I can beat him. He should let all his Shatta Movement members excuse us and he will see. I will beat him,” she fumed.

Sally continued, “I still maintain my stance that Shatta Wale looked like a lost puppy, he was confused, looked childish, and amateurish. Who is Shatta Wale that we cannot talk about? I couldn’t even sleep last night; I couldn’t even eat. The nerve! Shatta Wale, Sammy Baah Flex and the rest of the people following him think they are immortal. They won’t ever die, right?

Shatta Wale attacked me unprovoked and even insulted my private parts. He can’t insult the likes of Despite, Fadda Dickson, Andy Dosty, and co and gets upset when we criticize him. Don’t you know these people have business partners?

“I heard that the little puppy has been calling certain people for my number. What do they want to come and do to me? To come and kill me? I am waiting,” she added.

Samini copied me; Shatta Wale is who he is because of me – Fiifi Selah

A member of the renowned music group TH 4 Kwages, Fiifi Selah, has claimed that reggae-dancehall artists Samini and Shatta Wale copied his singing style.

He suggests that both musicians drew inspiration from his songs for their initial hit tracks, which helped them break into the music industry.

Selah shared these views during an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Friday edition of the Prime Morning show.

“Samini copied me. He listened to my music to write his ‘Linda’ song. Shatta Wale also listened to one of my Sass Squad songs to become Shatta Wale. They all came from me,” he said.

Fiifi Selah’s assertion came after he performed acapella and the host questioned whether he or Samini had copied each other due to their similar styles. He considers himself the pioneer in reggae-dancehall music, stating that all artists in that genre have followed his lead.

He recounted promoting reggae-dancehall music aggressively during his time hosting a radio show, which helped popularize the genre in Ghana. According to him, “So, within my time, reggae-dancehall became big in Ghana.”

Fiifi Selah also mentioned that Sarkodie is the only rapper capable of following and imitating his rap style, as it is not a style that every musician can easily flow with.

“Nobody can rap my rap; only Sarkodie can do it because my rap is hard to get,” he bragged.

My Sass Squad tracks shaped Shatta Wale’s identity – Fiifi Selah

A member of the esteemed music ensemble TH 4 Kwages, Fiifi Selah, formerly recognized as Scooby Selah, has sparked controversy with allegations that reggae-dancehall luminaries Samini and Shatta Wale imitated his vocal style.

In an interview with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, Fiifi Selah boldly proclaimed, “Samini copied me. He drew inspiration from my music for his song ‘Linda’. Shatta Wale also drew from one of my Sass Squad tracks to shape his identity. They all took cues from my work.”

This assertion followed Fiifi Selah’s performance of an acapella, which prompted the host to question the resemblance between his style and Samini’s.

Positioning himself as a trailblazer in reggae-dancehall, Fiifi Selah asserted that all artists within the genre followed his lead.

He fondly reminisced about his efforts to vigorously promote reggae-dancehall music during his tenure hosting a radio show, which significantly contributed to the genre’s rise in popularity in Ghana.

Fiifi Selah further boasted that only Sarkodie possesses the skill to replicate his unique rap style, emphasizing its complexity and distinctiveness.

“No one can match my flow; only Sarkodie can come close because my style is intricate,” he proclaimed.

Despite his bold assertions, Fiifi Selah expressed pride in the influence his music has had on other musicians over the years, citing Kofi Kinaata and Ayesem among others.

TH 4 Kwages, formerly known as Sass Squad, emerged in the late ’90s, leaving an indelible mark with hits like ‘Nana Esi,’ ‘Kwakyemu,’ ‘Menya Obaa Fefe,’ ‘Serwaa,’ and ‘Wongye.’

In a surprising turn of events at the Telecel launch event today, an elderly man voiced his frustration towards renowned Ghanaian musician Sarkodie, accusing him of failing to engage in the traditional act of spraying cash.

The man, in a viral video, made a stark comparison between Sarkodie and fellow artist Shatta Wale, whom he praised for his generosity in showering money on fans during public appearances.

“Sarkodie didn’t spray any cash! Look at Shatta Wale, he would happily shower us with money,” the man exclaimed, drawing attention from bystanders and causing a momentary pause in the proceedings.

The incident occurred amidst the lively atmosphere of the Telecel launch, where attendees had gathered to witness the unveiling of the telecommunications company’s latest offerings.

On February 28, 2024, Vodafone Ghana underwent a significant transformation, rebranding to Telecel Ghana under the umbrella of Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (GTCL).

This strategic decision was made possible by the approval granted by the National Communication Authority (NCA), allowing Telecel to acquire Vodafone Ghana and assume a majority shareholder position.

While the Government of Ghana, represented by the State Interests and Governance Authority, retains a minority stake of 30% in Telecel, the transition marks a new chapter for the telecommunications industry in Ghana.

With a strong foothold in the market, Vodafone Ghana, now operating as Telecel Ghana, holds an 18% share of the mobile telephony market. Despite the rebranding, the company’s registered name, Ghana Telecommunications Company Limited (GTCL), remains unchanged, preserving all licenses and regulatory approvals.

Shatta Wale is very innocent in Hajia4reall’s romance scam case – Report

Reports reaching Ghbase.com’s news desk reveal that Ghanaian socialite and musician, Hajia4real, has disclosed the identities of her alleged associates to the American authorities but excludes Dance Hall King Shatta Wale.

Previously, speculation circulated suggesting that dancehall artist Shatta Wale was among Hajia4real’s alleged partners in crime. However, a recent report indicates that Shatta Wale is not involved.

“Shatta Wale is not part of Hajia4Real’s case. Hajia4Real did not mention Shatta Wale’s name. Shatta Wale is very innocent”, the source revealed.

The source claims that Hajia4Real was forced to decide between serving at least 20 years in prison and disclosing the identities of her criminal partners when her case reached a problematic point.

According to the source, Hajia4real faced charges in six cases and was facing a 20-year prison sentence.

According to the source cited, Nhyiraba Kojo, a musician from Ghana, is one of the five individuals Hajia4Real.

“The musician Hajia4Real mentioned his name is Nhyiraba Kojo. The information I have gotten from the American headquarters is that Hajia4Real mentioned Nhyiraba Kojo’s name. They said there were 5 people Hajia4Real snitched because they decided to send her to trials and she said no she would rather snitch. She will say everything she knows. That is why they gave her 5 years. That 5 years is the first case. It is her first case. The cases against her are 6 in total, so if she is to get 5 years for each she would be going to jail for like 20 years. So, if she is sent to prison for 5 years for her first case, they will still be investigating into his other 5 remaining cases”, the source said.

Meanwhile, rumors state that the FBI is in Ghana in order to detain Nhyiraba Kojo, a musician from Ghana, and other individuals that Hajia4Real allegedly tipped off about.

He emphasized the need for citizens to seize opportunities, asserting that laziness is the root cause of their grievances.

According to the Gringo hitmaker, citizens should not solely rely on politicians but actively participate in creating opportunities for themselves.

“Sometimes, when we blame the politicians, I laugh. Politicians are doing everything they can to work as politicians. It’s just that when you’re lazy in your mind and you don’t know how to take advantage of opportunities yourself, you will always be talking about politicians,” Shatta Wale stated.

Shatta Wale likened politicians to cartels in their operations and suggested that citizens need to be proactive in utilizing the available resources.

Shatta Wale further contended that politicians have recognized the preferences of the youth, noting that those with higher education qualifications tend to avoid construction jobs in favor of more glamorous pursuits.

He urged the youth to reconsider their priorities and explore the lucrative opportunities in the construction sector.

“They know that those who went to tertiary institutions will not apply. Our politicians have realized that the youth want flashy things and to wear suits. They don’t want to go into construction. But there’s a lot of money in construction,” he concluded.
