Some of Ghana’s top musical talents have been praised by a former French ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie Avé, who has called for them to be given diplomatic passports.
She said that artistes such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, King Promise, Shatta Wale and R2Bees have done more to promote Ghana to the world than some ambassadors could ever do.
Her campaign was inspired by the impressive performances of these artistes at various summer events abroad.

Sarkodie is wrapping up his Jamz tour in the US, while King Promise rocked the Tottenham Sports stadium during Wizkid’s show, among others.
She took to Twitter to express her admiration for these artistes and their contribution to Ghana’s image and culture. She tweeted:
“Ghana 🇬🇭, you should give these guys diplomatic passports: they put Ghana to the world better than even the best ambassadors could in a lifetime @sarkodie @stonebwoy @blacksherif_ @shattawalegh @r2bees @IamKingPromise”
Shatta Wale, the baby daddy of Michy, has made an appeal to his followers to show their support for her after the release of her new song ‘Hustle.’
As a gesture of encouragement, he has offered a cash reward to anyone who can flawlessly and accurately sing the song.
The Dancehall musician in a tweet, he shared the link to the song together with his plea, saying: “Guys kindly support Michy on her new song for me .. Anyone that can sing from A-Z is getting 2k from me for Freeeee!!!! Thank you.”
In a joyous response to the tweet, Michy expressed in Pidgin English: “I don blow. Thank you, baby daddy.” Shatta replied, “I love the vibe.”
Michy and Shatta Wale were once in a relationship that lasted for eight years. However, in 2019, they decided to go their separate ways after a series of accusations between them.
Their breakup was messy, with allegations surfacing that Michy had denied Shatta Wale access to their child, Majesty. However, Michy vehemently denied these allegations.
In a May 2023 interview on Showtym with Andy Dosty, Michy made it clear that there is no chance of a comeback with Shatta Wale. She stated that fans who hope for a reconciliation between them will not see it happen as their love cannot be rekindled.
Currently, Michy has moved on to become a show host, and her path rarely crosses with her former fiancé, even though they share a child together. The two have chosen separate paths in their lives after their split.
“We are both living separate lives, I will not like to talk about him but yes, I sometimes see him. We bump into each other on the roadside. We go our separate ways, he doesn’t call me when he sees me in town,” she said.
Michy publicly confessed to turning back the hand of time if only she could. This is to make right some of her greatest mistakes.
Revisiting her love life with the dancehall musicians in the interview with Andy Dosty, she tried everything possible to avoid mentioning the name of Shatta Wale.
“If I had a magic eraser I’d erase some occurrences. You are in certain situations and don’t realize the consequences. Today, we are doing a rebranding, we are evolving, growing. I am still dealing with pain, and the consequences of certain occurrences, I don’t want to go too deep but you know what I mean,” she said.

Ghanaian YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon has talked about how challenging it was for him to debate Shatta Wale on social media.
He explained how he became upset when Shatta Wale warned him not to use his content again in an interview with Showbiz A-Z on Joy FM.
“Your man says in his song he is a gangster, then he goes ahead to call the police into an online beef.
I basically used his own tweet against him and he didn’t understand why some big-headed guy was actually challenging him so he decided to call the IGP. It was that kind of battle because people meet you in town and they reference that,” he told the host Kwame Dadzie.
Talking about what started the beef, Kwadwo noted that “Shatta Wale has the notion that bloggers eat off his hustle. And this is borne out of the fact that a lot of the people in the industry are oblivious of how the ecosystem works. So they go out and throw out anything and their followers buy into it.”
Other people Kwadwo Sheldon has fought with are Teacher Kwadwo, Shatta Wale, Sammy Flex, Afia Schwarzenegger, Kevin Taylor, among others.
Born Bernard Kwadwo Amoafo, Kwadwo Sheldon is a Ghanaian content creator and team lead for Kwadwo Sheldon Studios.

An Accra High Court has granted approval for an out-of-court settlement in a defamation case involving Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, and his former manager Lawrence Asiamah, also known as Bullgod.
On June 27, 2023, the legal representatives of both parties submitted the terms of the settlement to the High Court.
During the previous hearing, Shatta Wale’s counsel requested a two-week adjournment to present the settlement terms, a request which Justice Joseph Agyemang Adu Owusu, the trial judge, granted.
During the recent court proceedings, Bulldog’s lawyer, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, informed the court about the filing of the settlement terms and expressed satisfaction that an agreement had finally been reached. Bulldog’s lawyer requested the court to adopt the terms of settlement.
However, the trial judge mentioned that he had not yet received the filed settlement terms.
A representative of Shatta Wale presented a copy of the filed document to the court, and the judge asked the representative to verify the authenticity of Shatta Wale’s signature. Once the representative confirmed the signature, the court adopted the terms of settlement.
The court ruled that the terms of settlement filed on June 27, 2023, would be adopted as a consent judgment, indicating that both parties had reached an agreement and resolved the case.
The defamation case originated from a Facebook post made by Shatta Wale on November 22, 2022, in which he implicated Bullgod in the murder of Fennec Okyere, a music manager. Fennec Okyere tragically lost his life at his residence in March 2014, and Bullgod had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. However, he was later acquitted by the court due to insufficient evidence.
Bullgod filed a defamation lawsuit against Shatta Wale, alleging that the post was made with malicious intent. In his suit, Bullgod requested a perpetual injunction restraining Shatta Wale and also sought a retraction and apology. During the court proceedings, both parties mutually agreed to pursue an out-of-court settlement, which was accepted by the court.

The Chief Executive Officer of Charterhouse, the group in charge of planning the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), has indicated a willingness to speak with musician Shatta Wale and his group about taking part in the prestigious award programme.
During an interview on JoyNews, Theresa Ayoade revealed that while Stonebwoy’s team responded positively to the lifting of their ban and engaged in productive conversations, Shatta Wale and his team have been unresponsive despite efforts to reach out.
“We are open to a conversation… We want to be inclusive as possible… We are happy to have a decent conversation, similar to what we had with Stonebwoy’s team. We are ready to sit down and discuss matters as mature adults,” Mrs Ayoade expressed to host Aisha Ibrahim.
This development follows Shatta Wale’s absence from this year’s VGMA, despite the ban imposed on him and Stonebwoy in 2019 being lifted.
The Charterhouse CEO emphasized that while her outfit welcomes constructive criticism and strive for improvement, it is essential to refrain from defaming or maligning the show, as it undermines the extensive effort put into organizing it.
“We want to ensure that the scheme is respected. Any artist who agrees to be part of the scheme should abide by its outcomes. It is crucial to treat the scheme with respect, just as we respect every musician. We expect the industry to reciprocate that respect, considering we are collaborators within the industry,” she stated.
Shatta Wale, in a previous interview on Hitz FM, expressed his readiness to participate in the VGMA if approached by the organizers with a respectful invitation.
He highlighted his numerous ongoing music and business ventures, emphasizing the importance of a cordial approach.
Background
Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were indefinitely banned from participating in the VGMA following a physical altercation between them during the 2019 edition.
As Stonebwoy accepted the Reggae/Dancehall artiste award on stage, Shatta Wale attempted to join him, causing a brawl.
Stonebwoy brandished a gun, claiming he was acting in self-defence. The subsequent fallout led to the revocation of their awards, and they were required to return their trophies.
In 2021, the ban on Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy was lifted internally by the VGMA board in preparation for the 2021 edition.
However, both artists did not submit any works for consideration that year. In 2022, Stonebwoy submitted his work and won the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year award.
In 2023, Stonebwoy received accolades for Afropop Song of the Year and Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Shatta Wale, a Ghanaian musician known for his outspoken nature, recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) regarding the arrest of drug peddlers
According to Shatta Wale, while the initiative to clamp down on peddlers of unregistered drugs is laudable, the arresting officers were inhumane and insensitive in the act by dragging the handcuffed suspects.
“It’s a good initiative but dragging a WOMAN like that makes no sense.
“These are women, for God’s[SIC] sake let’s know how to run this country.
“Ah this guy paaa as if he no get wife for house.
“Dragging the WOMEN like they killed human beings ..Aahhh !! I bore waaaa mcheeww!!” he bemoaned in a Twitter post after retweeting a video of the arrest shared by UTV.
The Pharmacy Council and the Food and Drugs Authority together with the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, embarked on an operation against the peddling of unregistered drugs at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
The operation saw the arrest of several suspects including some women who were captured in handcuffs by the police and being dragged around.
Some of the suspects denied being the owners of the roadside shops selling various herbal medicines including aphrodisiacs.
“What is the essence in keeping us in handcuffs as if we have robbed someone. We are not thieves,” one of the suspects is heard in the video lamenting.
The Accra High Court has postponed the case concerning Nii Charles Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, to June 27, 2023, in order to allow the involved parties sufficient time to submit the terms of their settlement.
The adjournment was requested by the Lawyers for the Dancehall Artiste.
Lawyers for Shatta Wale made the request for two weeks to enable them to file terms of settlement.
Mr Frank Atese Kwabena, the Counsel for Shatta Wale, who held brief for Madam Cynthia Quarcoe, told the Court that they had made some progress in their engagements.
The Court presided over by Justice Joseph Agyemang Adu Owusu after hearing the respondent, said since settlement was in progress, the case has been adjourned to June 27, 2023.
On November 2, 2022, Shatta Wale made some publication on his Facebook page, implicating his Former Manager, Lawrence Asiamah Hanson also known as Bulldog, in the murder of Fennec Okyere, among others.
Bulldog, a Former Manager of Shatta Wale, then sued him for defamation but, the parties have in various sittings especially counsel for Shatta Wale, told the Court that the parties are willing to settle the matter out of Court.
Since March 7, 2023, when the request was made, the parties have appeared in court at least three times, saying talks on settlement were progressing.
On April 18, 2023, Lawyers for Shatta Wale again requested for a month of further negotiations after Lawyers for Bulldog indicated the parties failed to reach agreement.
Back in Court after a month, on May 16, 2023, Lawyers for Shatta Wale indicated that the parties have now agreed on settlement terms in principle.

An order of the Court for perpetual injunction restraining the respondent, his agents, workmen, assigns and servants from publishing or further publishing any defamatory words against the Plaintiff.
He seeks general damages for defamation, special damages for defamation and punitive damages for malicious publication of falsehood against the Plaintiff.
Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, has hinted of the possibility of hosting a stand-up comedy show, creating a wave of anticipation among his fans.
Taking to Twitter, the sensational artiste shared an unexpected announcement that has gotten netizens excited.
In a tweet, he playfully pondered, “Should I give comedy a shot? I want to hear your thoughts. But first, you’ll need to grab your tickets!”
Shatta Wale, although renowned for his captivating performances and chart-topping music, is bent on pushing boundaries and exploring new horizons.
If this is a serious move, it will mean another journey into comedy, inspired by the laughter-inducing moments he creates during his notorious live videos, as claimed by his fans.
Since unveiling his idea to venture into the world of comedy, Shatta Wale’s loyal fan base and the general public have expressed curiosity.
Fans wasted no time in responding to his tweet, expressing their excitement and eager anticipation for this potential new endeavour.
Former manager ofShatta Wale, Bullgod has stated that he nearly parted ways with the musician 6 months after working with him.
He explained that Shatta Wale made it difficult to work together, thus they never came to a conclusion.
Interacting with the media, he said, “I will say yes and no. Yes and no because when it comes to the job itself, you wouldn’t have to worry that much. And what’s the job? The job is to go to the studio and record, go out there and promote your works, get up and go shoot your videos.
“Those things you wouldn’t have a problem but it’s the extra things. I mean I have worked with other acts where you had to coerce them to go to the studio for recordings and other stuffs. That’s for me is hectic because we’re here for the job.”
The artiste manager was responding to whether Shatta Wale was the most difficult artiste he has worked with.
According to Bullgod, Shatta Wale was only too difficult to handle with what he referred to as the extras, which nearly cost him to leave after barely 6 months of managing him.
“I didn’t understand him then. He says something here, one radio station will call and I’ll try cleaning up what he said, and then the next you hear is another media house calling you because he’s said another thing elsewhere. So by the time you’re done, you didn’t do any job, so it was difficult.”
He further explained that perhaps the reason why he stayed on was because they were yet to start hitting their targets.
“At Bullhaus Entertainment , we have a yardstick we measure our performances with, and one of them is, depending on who or the level in which you came to us.
“Within the first year, your name should appear in certain award schemes though we can’t guarantee you a win because of voting and other politics involved. We realized we have not achieved our target so we continued working with him and eventually he got his first award. So that’s how come we stayed on but me and my team really wanted to leave within six months.”
Currently, Bulldog manages the craft of fast-rising Ghanaian artiste Vanilla.
Michy, the mother of Shatta Wale’s child, firmly states that any discussion she would have with the Dancehall musician will solely revolve around their child and nothing more.
In an interview on Adom TV’s Showtime with Andy Dosty, Michy who has a son with Shatta Wale said she is up for a mature conversation that would centre on the child’s wellbeing.
“I’ve been in conversations with him. The focus should be on the child but I have not seen that. It’s not about me and him (Shatta); it’s about the child and that’s all I want to talk about. What happened, who said what, who did what is needless,” she said.
Michy denied Shatta Wale’s claim that he had been prevented from seeing their son saying: “When it comes to seeing the boy, you (Shatta) haven’t made that effort. I on the other side am taking everything cool. It is one of those things. I am not preventing him. He knows my house and phone numbers, I heard him say that I blocked his calls but my other number is online.”
She blamed Shatta Wale for his inability to see their son. According to her, the musician has failed to have a proper and mature conversation.
She said: “My son hasn’t shown any sign of missing his father (Shatta Wale). We don’t have discussions and so I cannot tell. My son is quite satisfied in life and I don’t think he has a reason to look for that, you know. Proper communication is what’s stopping him from seeing his son. Matured communication is what he’s lacking, there is more to do on that side.”
Michy and Shatta broke up in 2019. Although no reason was given, some have cited abuse as the basis for the split.
In January 2023, Shatta Wale suggested on Snapchat that he had been denied access to their son.
“I like how Michy is being frank with her experience out there, but someone should tell her I have not seen Majesty for years, and that’s not cool. I also want to buy my son some toys and trainers,” his post read.
Reacting to the post at the time, Michy said: “Social media parenting. I didn’t know I had lions guarding my lil man.”
Michelle Gbagonah, more commonly known as Shatta Michy, has openly acknowledged that providing for all the needs of her son with Shatta Wale is not an easy task. Nevertheless, she finds immense happiness in ensuring that little Majesty is never deprived of anything in life.
The single mother in an interview on Showtym with Andy Dosty alleged that the father of her only child has made no effort in seeing their child.
“When it comes to seeing the boy, you (Shatta) haven’t made that effort. I on the other side am taking everything cool. It is one of those things. I am not preventing him. He knows my house and phone numbers, I heard him say that I blocked his calls but my other number is online, everybody knows it..strangers even call me,” she said.
Michy who described herself as a hardworking woman was quick to deny rumours of keeping Majesty away from his father following their messy breakup.
The singer-turned-television presenter mentioned that Shatta has failed to engage her in what she termed as “proper and matured communication” when it comes to their son.
“My son hasn’t shown any sign of missing his father (Shatta Wale). We don’t have discussions and so I can not tell. My son is quite satisfied in life and I don’t think he has a reason to look for that, you know. Proper communication is what’s stopping him from seeing his son. Matured communication is what he’s lacking, there is more to do on that side,” Michy opened up to Andy Dosty when asked about the bond between father and son.
Just like many single mothers, assuming the role of a father doesn’t come easy but this Ghanaian woman is willing to do everything to secure a brighter future for her child.
“I don’t want to fuel his topic but taking care of my child makes me fulfilled in life and so if I have to do it, I will. I thank god, I don’t have to beg to feed my child…it doesn’t come easy. I have about three streams of income and I am still looking for more. The bills get bigger by the way but I am also trying to devise ways,” Michy added.
Ghanaian Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale gifted his friend $100k cheque as a birthday gift.
Over the weekend, Shatta Wale and some other celebrities came together to celebrate the birthday of a close friend and businessman Prince Richgame with a party.
At a certain time during the party, Shatta Wale wanted to prove that he was indeed a rich man and signed a cheque of $100k as his present to the birthday man.
A video shows the moment Shatta Wale signed the cheque after which he said if his money gets finished he doesn’t care.
Gregory Promise Bortey Newman, also known as King Promise, has spoken out about his lookalikes and the unusual manner they show him affection.
Speaking to the media, the Ghanaian musician who has been silent about the doppelgängers who have taken over the entertainment industry finally shared his two cents on the issue.
When a fan texted in to inquire about his thoughts on having lookalikes, King Promiseexpressed gratitude for the love and support he receives from his fans, even when they resemble him physically.
He acknowledged that having lookalikes is a testament to his impact on the music industry.
“Listen I have seen it on the Internet. First of all to do what I do and have people see me as their mentor or I inspire them and they want to be like me,” King Promise said. I didn’t choose the situation but it is a blessing that I get to inspire generations which is also like my generation as well.
Over the past few weeks, other several celebrities have decried the motives of their lookalikes and issued threats to them to desist from using their brand and image for performance or attention.
Medikal, Shatta Wale and Kuami Eugene have all joined the discussion however, King Promise is of a different view and believes that his fans may connect with him not only through his music but also through their physical resemblance.
“I have seen people bash them and people are angry at them. I am chill. I am just making my music after all we know who the original is. People are having fun doing their own thing,” he expressed.
King Promise also indicated that in a situation where they overstepped their boundaries ‘what will be done will be done’
He embraced the fact that his fans find joy in identifying with him and being associated with his image.
“They’re just showing love but they’re doing it in a different way cos they’re times you see people and they’re very aggressive, some may even break your windscreen but this one they just want to be like you,” he added.
His response has been with positive comments from fans who believe that this reflects his humility and appreciation for his fans’support.
It also demonstrates his deep understanding that his music has resonated with people in a profound way, resulting in a strong emotional connection just like other Hollywood stars including Micheal Jackson, Elvis Presley and many others who have fans that dress up like them.
Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, has disclosed why he discontinued his GOG album.
Fans have since been looking forward to the release of that particular album after it was announced in 2022.
However, Shatta Wale, said after working on the project for the past three years, he has been compelled to squash it.
In a new twist to events, Shatta, who has been suffering trolls on social media over the album’s delay said the project was saddled with some challenges.
Recounting the said challenges in a viral audio from a Twitter space, the Shatta Movement boss said his inability to secure some international collaborations killed his zeal to pull through.
“I couldn’t get some of the features and that was a problem. I was trying my possible best and that is why I’m saying when White people come and exploit us, that’s what the table looks like.
“For Instance, when Beyoncé wanted to feature me, I swear to God I didn’t want to continue that process again. You know why? Because a Ghanaian was coordinating for that thing and it went all wrong. Beyonce and her team actually wanted me to fly from Ghana with the crew.”
“Ghanaians with their pressure forced me to feature Beyoncé, now I’m getting problems, now the same Ghanaian can’t even get me that feature and that was the thing that got me pissed with the whole album,” he said.
Recalling another factor, Shatta asserted that his songs were leaked after trusting some Ghanaian distributors with it.
“I got some distributors to also get me a deal in Nigeria and everything was going on properly. They were supposed to give me a paper to sign so that they can give me an amount of money to shoot my videos and TG Omori was supposed to shoot my videos.”
“I don’t know what happened but I gave them a list to just test them on how they can keep my songs and I just wanted to see what will happen but they just leaked those ones which means, the person that connected me to those Nigerians and stuff did it. That person is in Ghana and as I’m talking to you now, his house papers I have them. Me I don’t play like that and I told him that I don’t want to go to court,” He added.
On March 30, Shatta Wale compensated fans with a different album titled M.A.A.L.I
The 10-track album featured top Jamaican musician, Vybz Kartel.
In 2019, Shatta Wale became the first Ghanaian artist to collaborate with American music superstar Beyoncé Knowles-Carter on a song for her album “The Lion King,” marking a significant milestone in his career.
The collaboration did the magic for Shatta Wale, however, this was not without stress.
The Dancehall music has opened up about how a Ghanaian who was coordinating things between himself and Beyonce’s team complicated the process when in the natural sense, could have been made easier.
“When Beyonce wanted to feature me, I swear to God I didn’t want to continue the process again. Do you know why? The Ghanaian that followed and was coordinating for that thing went all wrong about the situation.
“It was this and that…I told him to shut up, don’t tell me that, don’t shout that. He was like, she said she will come next week, we have to shoot the video now. You see all those things, it doesn’t move me,” Shatta disclosed in his Twitter Space on May 14.
Despite the challenges, Shatta pulled through to record the monster hit ‘Already’ and shoot the music video with Beyoncé which later became a favourite of many.
“I did it because I love the fans, that is why I stressed myself. Beyonce and her team actually wanted me to fly with my crew like the way I travel with 16, 12 people but our Ghanaians with their pressure forced me. Now I want to feature Beyonce and I am getting problems. Now the same Ghanaian person can’t even get that feature,” he expressed his disappointment on Sunday during an interaction with his fans.
Shatta Wale has hinted at producing a second album, KONEKT which will purely be made for Afrobeat lovers just months after the release of his ‘MAALI’ album.
An entertainment commentator and artiste management, Bullgod, has stated that Shatta Wale’s ‘gringo’ visuals inspired Piesie Esther‘s ‘waye me yie’ video.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day show, Bullgod raised concerns about the similarities of both visuals, calling out for the lack of originality in the music video for her hit song ‘Wayɛ Me Yie’ hitting that the concept was influenced by dancehall art Shatta Wale’s GRINGO visuals.
According to him the lack of originality affected the chances of Piesie Esther’s Waye me yie to grab a win for the Best Music Video Award at the just-ended 24th VGMA
“That video is plagiarism, I told you that video was taken from Shatta Wale’s ‘gringo’, go and look at the Gringo video. There’s no originality in that video, it’s the same video. How do you expect to win with such a video??” he quizzed.
He expressed disappointment about the not-so-original video of the borrowed concept
“We are looking for originality in the art. If the person is not original in whatever they delivered how do you award them?? Go and watch the two videos,”
“She might have spent a lot of money on the video but it wasn’t original,”
His remarks have triggered conversations online about the significance of creativity and innovation in music videos with many industry professionals and fans also expressing their views on the matter.
Popular media personality, Abeiku Santana, has asserted that Bullgod is not as courageous as he appears to be in light of the artist manager’s decision not to proceed with his defamation lawsuit against Shatta Wale.
After their court appearance on March 7, it was reported thatBullgod and Shatta Wale have begun negotiations to settle the defamation case brought against the latter by the former out of court.
“Why are we in court? Isn’t it to settle the matter? So, if Nii Armah’s lawyers are saying that they want to settle out of court, there’s nothing wrong. Besides we have sat down already to talk about this. We’ve started a discussion to try and sort this out. Both parties and a few good men,” Bullgod explained on United Showbiz as he gave details behind the decision.
But Abeiku Santana, who seems confused about Bullgod’s sudden change in plans after threatening ‘fire and brimstone’ labelled the latter a coward.
“You took a case to court against Shatta Wale for defamation of character. I’ll sue him, I’ll sue him! Now you are running away. After all that noise. Later, we heard that you have withdrawn the case and opted to settle it at home. You’ve done well. Shake my hands, you have done well. Congrats. You don’t have balls; you are not a man. You are not a man of your words. You know you can settle this at home so why did you go to court? If you know you can win the case in court, why did you withdraw it?” he queried.
Bullgod in response said, “It was based on the relationship I have with Shatta Wale and the judge even asked why I brought the case to court if I had such a relationship with him.”
Background
In 2022, Bullgod sued his former artiste, Shatta Wale, for defamation.
This was after the musician threatened to expose his alleged secret regarding the death of the late artiste manager, Fennec Okyere, among others.
In the court documents filed at an Accra High Court, Bullgod’s lawyers indicated that these statements seek to suggest that he had a hand in Mr Okyere’s death.
Bullgod sought a declaration from the court that these statements and others highlighted in the suit are defamatory and malicious.
That’s not all, he called on the court to direct Shatta Wale to retract his allegations and apologize to him.
He also sought, “general damages for defamation, special damages for defamation, punitive damages for the malicious publication of falsehood against the plaintiff, cost, and any other orders or remedies that the Court may deem fit.”
Rapper Medikal has been lauded by some Ghanaians on social media after he ignored Shatta Michy, the mother of dancehall superstar Shatta Wale during a confrontation.
Diamond Michelle Gbagonah, popularly known as Michy, the mother of Shatta Wale’s 6-year-old son, Majesty, confronted Medikal over his claim that Shatta is a responsible father when she has always maintained that he doesn’t live up to expectations.
What initially seemed like a friendly conversation escalated real quickly when the rapper who had had enough from Michy who had a camera to his face advised her to act responsibly at the party of blogger, GhKwaku on April 29.
Medikal who was in attendance at the party with his wife, Fella Makafui, walked away when Michy lost her cool and started hurling insults at the rapper.
The video of Michy confronting Medikal which has gone viral has since courted praises from netizens whom according to them, showed respect to the baby mama of his close friend, Shatta Wale.
One netizen said, “Shatta Michy was just bitter. Medikal didn’t want to mind her. That’s a man respecting his negger’s baby mama.”
Another also wrote, “Medikal acted maturely cos of the respect and love he has for Shatta Wale…Michy is the baby mama so I will give it to MDK…The Video sent only one message across…” Michy still harbours a lot of hate for Shatta and to some extension the people close to Shatta”..
Below are some of the comments

Despite whatever he said and michy feels it’s not right or not truth you can call him privately to discuss this than rather chasing him in public to question him. I like the way medikal handled himself. I think this can be done privately not on social media

Ghanaian musician Kay Smooth says he was the one who introduced reggae and dancehall musician Shatta Wale to the late music legend Terry Bonchaka.
In an interview on Power FM’s entertainment show, Kay Smooth asserted that Shatta Wale should always be grateful to him for being the one to connect him with Terry Bonchaka.
“I was the one who introduced him to the late Terry Bonchaka, as my young brother and I asked Terry to find a way to mentor him. Shatta Wale happened to be my school son at Winneba Secondary School, and through an entertainment show, I was able to connect the two of them.
“I believe God used me to open up ways for Shatta Wale to become who he is now,” he said.
Shatta Wale has not yet responded to Kay Smooth’s claims, but this revelation has ignited a debate among fans and industry insiders about who deserves credit for Shatta Wale’s success.
But Shatta Wale has mentioned in past interviews how influential the late Terry Bonchaka was in the early stages of his music career.
Shatta Wale has risen through the music ranks and is undoubtedly one of Ghana’s biggest music exports, having chalked up numerous successes in his over 20-year journey.
At the Ghana Professional Boxing League at the Bukom Arena, rapper Sarkodie challenged Shatta Wale to a fight, saying that he could beat him at any time.
The viral video that captured Sarkodie’s daring Shatta has got to the attention of the dancehall musicians who have accepted the challenge with the condition that the winner of the celebrity bout is awarded 2 million dollars.
Shatta who likes to talk business also expressed confidence in knocking off Sarkodie in the ring.
He made this known in a tweet on April 25, when rapper Ypee questioned his preparedness for the challenge adding that he was going to bet on him, “1don you get match o! We go bet on you.”
Shatta Wale tweeted: “The way ago beat am erh !!! He go tink say me I born am Am down but make them put $2million as winning price… If they make ready with the money make them call me!”
Meanwhile, Sarkodie in his interview with Yaw Ampofo Ankrah announced his interest in the game. “I love boxing, and I came here to enjoy myself. Now that I have discovered this place I will be here more…If you like you can fix a fight for me against Shatta Wale.”

Ghanaian rapper Micheal Owusu Addo known to many as Sarkodie has challenged his colleague Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale to a boxing match.
The two Ghanaian superstars have a long-standing unsettled issue which even broke their friendship.
But according to Sarkodie there is a way to settle their issues once and for all and that is for him to enter into the ring with Shatta Wale for a boxing fight.
He threw out this challenge to Shatta Wale after he made an appearance at the Bukom boxing arena last Sunday to witness a bout involving some boxers.
Sarkodie was asked to share his opinion on what he had seen so far at the event in his capacity as a superstar.
Sarkodie acknowledged his joy at attending the boxing match and added that he will be coming to witness more fights going forward.
When asked about his boxing skills, Sarkodie mentioned Shatta Wale and stated they might arrange a contest to demonstrate their abilities.
By close of day on Thursday, April 20, 2023, micro-blogging site Twitter commenced full implementation of its $8 monthly charge for account verification.
Thus, every verified account will have to pay $8 every month to keep their blue badge.
Several Ghanaian celebrities who are yet to subscribe have since lost their legacy verification badge which was previously displayed against their profile name.
The likes of Sarkodie, Bridget Otoo, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, Efya, D-Black, Serwaa Amihere and Black Sherif have all lost their blue badges.
However media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah still has blue badge attached to her account with the notification: “This account is verified because they are subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number.”

Charles Nii Armah Mensah, alias Shatta Wale was at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday evening to welcome Gramps Morgan to Ghana.
The Morgan Heritage member arrived at the airport to a sizeable welcome crowd and was captured in a video with Shatta Wale making their way out of the facility into a waiting car.
“GHANA I have touchdown for the @morganheritage @shattawalegh @JChameleone Collab on the NEW Morgan Heritage Album “The Homeland” PRE ORDER NOW,” Morgan posted in a tweet hours after his arrival.
Accompanying the tweet were photos of himself and Shatta Wale along with other associates.
The three-time Grammy award-winning artist flew into Ghana from Uganda, where he had promoted the album on which he is set to collaborate with Shatta Wale.
Ghanaian gospel singer Nacee shares a different opinion on the seeming worrying trend of ‘artiste look-alikes’ in the country.
There have been concerns of some young men with little resemblance to some celebrities, seeking fame on social media in recent times.
These individuals have been captured at media interviews, and events and have even garnered a large following on social media.
Artistes including Edem, Medikal, Shatta Wale, and others have condemned the development which they regard as impersonation.
But popular gospel singer, Nacee, thinks otherwise.
In an interview with JoyNews, the ‘Boys Boys’ hitmaker established that he will groom and offer free tuition to his look-alike should their paths cross.
“As for me, if I see my lookalike, I will invite him, give him water and everything to make him comfortable and if he happens to be a good singer and is interested in doing what I am doing, I will teach him for free,” he said.
According to Nacee, it would be a voluntary act on his part, but he would not hesitate to sever ties with anyone he chooses to mentor who will attempt to undermine his years of labour.
“I will not be happy seeing my lookalike performing my songs on patches and somebody somewhere will think that I am the one and imagine the performance does not go as it is supposed to.
“The insult will go like ‘w’abon’ and I can even lose business from that. I will welcome you, train you, but for you to ride on my glory, that will be so wrong. I would rather find a way and give you whatever support you need and I expect you to also accord me with that respect,” he cautioned.
Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale was at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday evening to welcome Gramps Morgan to Ghana.
The Morgan Heritage member arrived at the airport to a sizeable welcome crowd and was captured in a video with Shatta Wale making their way out of the facility into a waiting car.

Broadcaster, Afia Pokua is of the view that Shatta Wale will not take lightly any individual who impersonates him under the guise of a celebrity lookalike.
Vim Lady’s comments come in the wake of the increasing celebrity lookalike craze that has witnessed some personalities including rapper Edem and Medikal, condemning the act with calls to the media not to offer them a platform.
In a Facebook, the broadcaster posited that Shatta is likely to take on any man who emerges as his lookalike or attempt to rise to fame with his brand.
Look alike association 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Come and learn how to do business on my Facebook Live
“Try Shatta Wale lookalike, anka mo be te sounds ene law suit from Dr Justice Sai. You think creativity be cheap Tchew,” Vim Lady’s viral post read.
She named Ghana’s high unemployment rate as the cause of the youth finding short-cut to stardom as there is nothing to keep them busy. She urged te so-called lookalikes to find something profitable to do with their lives instead of impersonating celebrities.
“This lookalike issue is a reflection of the unemployment crisis. We need commercial farms and factories to utilize their energy,” she wrote.
Ghanaians are praising Okyeame Kwame but If I did same, I would be labelled as drug addict” – Shatta Wale
Following Akuapem Poloo’s terrible experience, where she had to spend some days in jail for going naked on social media, Shatta Wale believes that the sauce of the goose should be sauce for the gander.
The SM president shared a picture on Twitter, implying that he could not understand why people were hailing Okyememe Kwame for his nude photo; meanwhile, he has been blasted in the past for similar actions.
@realsest_lakers commented: Why dem dey compare ? Okyeame is wearing his own released boxers which is up sale o . Dey play
@Views09 commented: When Shatta Wale does it he’s not normal but when another person does it, they’re creative. Shatta just can’t win walahi
@branik& wrote: There’s a difference bro And also no one calls it classic He’s actually taking backlashes for that post. And even as much as people are hating his post… I really don’t see what is wrong with it. It wasn’t necessary as he could’ve hired a model to do it
Remember, Shatta Wale, was called out for undressing himself on stage at the Accra Sports Stadium last December.
Therefore, he believes the angst that greeted his action and the nationwide condemnation it received should be given to Okyeame Kwame too.
Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, has projected some factors which according to him, caused Nana Ama McBrown’s exit from UTV.
According to him, McBrown was working under toxic conditions at her former workplace coupled with intense pressure from her former bosses.
It can be recalled that in January, Shatta was attacked on social media for claiming that the actress was ineffective as the host for the United Showbiz.
He made such comments while tasking Fada Dickson to reconsider his objectives for the show which he (Shatta) finds absurd.
“Nana Ama McBrown is an actress, Nana Ama McBrown doesn’t know anything about presenting. Sometimes she can present and someone can counter her. Fada Dickson, I beg, I respect you and Despite so much because the innovations, the idea, the vision that you people have for this country is helping a lot of people.”
“Please check your radio stations and TV stations. The programmes you are doing are nonsense. It’s nonsense, it’s stupid. We have boys from Legon who have some ideas. Let them bring it on board,” he earlier stated in a Facebook live video.
But two months down the lane, Nana Ama McBrown has left UTV to Media General, a move Shatta Wale has applauded.
Reacting to it, he said in Pidgin English that it was the best move, adding that the controversial structure of the show would have landed her into more chaos.
“Everybody for pick my stone for me. I talk Nana Ama McBrown en matter you said I shouldn’t talk, not knowing there are problems. When I talk, you’ll say I am talking too much. God will direct the thing. What I am seeing is what I am talking about. When I spoke, everybody was complaining but you see Problem dey there.
‘They worried the woman. They worried the woman, they gave her some nonsense pressure. Nana Ama McBrown, you did very well by leaving UTV to Media General. That’s what I wanted. Find your path,” he stated during a recent Facebook live.
Reggae-dancehall artist Shatta Wale has also reacted to the recent trends of celebrity lookalikes in the country and their relevance.
Shatta Wale admonished the celebrity lookalikes to channel their energies into other areas including taking to creating content on social media platform, TikTok.
“The lookalike boys, I am advising you people to find a path. If you don’t have any idea to live the life that you want to live, emulate Jacqueline Appiah and Made In Ghana and others, they are on TikTok creating content,” he lamented.
He warned one of the young boys to desist from responding to Medikal, who had raised issues with their trade.
Shatta Wale also slammed the media as being the people fuel the lookalike craze. He threatened to assault the lookalikes and to damn the consequences because the police and government’s laxity on issues was also to blame.
“Those lookalikes they are our junior brothers, junior brothers to Medikal and I, we will teach them how to make money but not with this stupidity you people are trying to teach them.
“Don’t wake up and let some stupid radio presenter and some nonsense blogger write some thrash about you and you also come and defend it as a means to an end,” he fired.
Ghanaian media personality, Andy Dosty, has disclosed that Shatta Wale has apologized for disrespecting his mother.
This follows Andy’s outburst on live radio. During a discussion on his ‘Daybreak Hitz’ show, Andy was peeved about the fact that Shatta publicly insulted his mother, yet fans were expecting him to promote his new ‘Maali’ album.
“You want me to talk about it? An artiste that stands on stage and insults my mother and talks anyhow and foolishly to my mother, and you want me to what? If you don’t have sense, I do. If you don’t respect, don’t come here. The woman who gave birth to me has lived a good life and has a good place to live. That’s all I have said. I love my mother, and nobody, nobody… I won’t speak ill of anyone’s mother; she raised me well. You can fool around. The fooling is too much in this country.
“You will be sitting there, and they will want to come and sit here and say they want to promote their stuff. What do you want to promote? If that woman didn’t give birth to me, where would you know me from? Foolish guy,” he fumed with rage.
But in a new twist to events, Andy has disclosed that Shatta has channeled an apology to him.
In a discussion with Sally Mane and DJ Slim, Andy Dosty said Shatta reached out through someone, with whom he spoke for more than 50 minutes.
“All I can say is that we have spoken, he called a big man and that person called me. He channeled the apology through someone and we spoke for more than 50 minutes. He also expressed some of my actions he didn’t like. Even my mother called and said we are brothers so we shouldn’t let this go far,” the Hitz FM presenter said.
Andy, however, emphasized that although they had spoken, the issue won’t be trashed just like that.
“He has spoken to me. Shatta Wale has spoken to me. He has apologized but that isn’t all. I won’t let go just like that,” he added.
The Director for Creative Arts at the National Commission on Culture, Socrate Safo, has stated that he currently doesn’t have an interest in Stonebwoy’s upcoming 5th Dimension album.
In a discussion on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Socrate Safo was initially asked if he had listened to Shatta Wale’s album and he responded with a resounding yes while stating his favourite.
“I have listened to the album and my favourite is in real life,” he mentioned.
In that same light, Socrate was asked to share his opinion on Stonebwoy’s 5th Dimension’ album and his response caused a stir among the panelists in the studio.
According to him, the album isn’t on his list of interests adding that he might end up sleeping if he attempts to listen to it.
“Please I haven’t listened to it. I am sorry but where my interest lies, is nowhere close to that. I will take time to listen but I might end up sleeping,” he stated.
“You are a forkin man!” the host, Kwasi Aboagye responded.
Arnold Asamoah Baidoo, a member of the panel also slammed Socrate for making such utterances.
“So, is this statement necessary? Is this senseless statement necessary?” Arnold fumed.
Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy release new albums
Stonebwoy is gearing towards the release of his album on April 28, 2023, although it is currently available for pre-order.
This comes after Shatta Wale released his Maali Album on March 30, 2023.
The lookalike of dancehall musicianShatta Wale has officially been unveiled as a video of the young man went viral on social media.
In the video, the replicas of Mr Drew and King Promise were spotted while Shatta Wale’s lookalike gave them a manly handshake.
Meanwhile, the other two gentlemen spotted in the video have sparked debate in the comment section as Ghanaians guessed the celebrities they resembled.
The ‘On God’ hitmaker’s clone was the star of the short viral video as he spoke the local dialect, Fante, while making hand gestures.
Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale took to Facebook to share a post hours after Hitz FM morning show host Andy Dosty criticized the dancehall musician live on air.
Earlier during a discussion on his ‘Daybreak Hitz’ show, Tuesday, Andy Dosty was peeved about the fact that Shatta publicly insulted his mother, yet fans were expecting him to promote his new ‘Maali’ album.
Andy Dosty was peeved with Shatta Wale’s disrespect coupled with the high sense of entitlement from an SM fan who queried his refusal to promote Shatta’s new piece.
Foolish guy,” a visibly infuriated Dosty fumed with rage.
The issue courted controversy and divided opinions as some people chastised Andy Dosty for being unprofessional while others defended him.
While some expected Shatta Wale to rebut with the same level of rage, the Shatta Movement boss, who is currently on a business trip in Kenya, has shared a post on Facebook that does not appear to be a direct response.
He wrote: “Am On a Mission So Me Never Bother When Dem Call Me Names, Listen When It’s Necessary Never Go Astray Breda, Trust God And Trust None Ah Dem And ’memba Always To Be Inna Ur Lane, Been To Jail, Got Bail. #MAALI.”
What Shatta Wale said that touched Andy Dosty’s nerve
Halfway through his performance at a concert in Takoradi, sometime in February, Shatta Wale paused and raised some allegations against two astute media personalities.
Shatta said some persons including Andy Dosty and Abeiku Santana have resorted to countering his unbreakable record of featuring on Beyonce’s track with Sarkodie’s Bob Marley feature.
He said these individuals have tried to place Sarkodie on the same pedestal as him (Shatta) following the former’s feature in Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up’ remix.
“Now I have made them confused. Because I have featured Beyonce so you want to counter me with Sarkodie. Tell those radio presenters, Andy Dosty and Abeiku Santana, your mothers!” he fumed.
Radio show host, Andy Dosty angrily responded to a listener who asked him to discuss and promote Shatta Wale’s latest album ‘Maali’.
During Andy’s show on Hitz FM, the listener via text stated that the album was doing well but nobody was talking about it.
After Andy read the message, the on-air personality expressed fury towards the texter and Shatta Wale on the basis that the musician insulted his (Andy Dosty) mother and spoke foolishly about her on stage.
“You want me to talk about it? An artiste that stands on stage and insults my mother and talks anyhow and foolishly to my mother, and you want me to what?” he exclaimed.
He reiterated his love and respect for his mother, stating that he would not speak ill of anyone’s mother because he was nurtured.
“If you don’t have sense, I do. If you don’t respect, don’t come here. The woman who gave birth to me has lived a good life and has a good place to live,” he added.
Andy criticized Shatta Wale’s behaviour of insulting people and noted that people do not take things seriously and instead encourage his foolish behaviour.
He also called out those who wanted to come on his show to promote their stuff without respecting him or his mother.
“That’s all I have said.
Foolish guy,” a visibly infuriated Dosty fumed with rage.
